I called him to schedule an appointment since I thought I had a short in our living room. Ray actually asked me about the issue over the phone and walked me through it. The power was back on 2 minutes later. He could have easily taken me for a ride and charged me for a visit, but he was honest. How rare is that these days?

Their customer service ranges from vaguely friendly to pretty rude. When you enter their store you may get an acknowledgment or you may get completely ignored, even if no other customers are there. The first time we were in there we stood awkwardly by the front desk waiting to ask a question, while the sales person finished her typing without even looking up or saying hi to us. Weird vibe!Recently, I ordered a lamp and was told it would be there in 7 days. When I called to ask about the status 2 weeks later the first person without even asking for my name or order just said that if I hadnt received a call from them then that means it hasnt arrived yet. I asked her to please check anyway but she wasnt able to find any info. Then she said Ill connect you without telling me who shes connecting me to. I think it was their warehouse but Im just guessing. Had to explain the whole situation again and eventually that person said oh thats because its on back order and should be here in 2-3 months. I said its disappointing that they didnt call to let me know. No apology, just silence. She then asked if I wanted to be transferred back to a sales person so that I could order a different lamp. No thanks :(

When I go to typical lighting stores, I scour the place and find maybe a light or two that might suit my tastes. This place, from the moment I stepped in, immersed me in possibilities for nearly every fixture. Beautiful quality, many that I could actually afford. Yay!

John is super helpful and knowledgeable all types of lighting. The prices are super competitive and they are very accommodating.

Mandy has helped me on two jobs and it is always a pleasure to work with her. Her professionalism, positive attitude, and extensive knowledge of every manufacturers product line make choosing the right fixture a breeze. We designed a new home in Boulder and when it came time for lighting we made the rounds of the local lighting and design studios in and around Boulder. My wife and I met John and walked him through the drawings of the house. Once we completed our review with him he made us a clear commitment, he would do all the lighting design and space walk through on the house for us at no cost if we purchased the fixtures and supplies from him, he also committed that the price points he offered would be highly competitive. We agreed to his terms and he walked through the entire space with us at completion of framing, did a full design with fixture selection based on feedback for the entire house and helped us through the decision making process.When it came to the initial installation of complex items like cable lighting through beams he made sure we had trim carpenters line up complex line drilling through beams and ensured we did not make common mistakes.At the end of our project our electrician bailed on the project and went on vacation leaving us in a really bad bind (we had final inspection scheduled and needed to move into the house as our prior house was sold with closing scheduled in a few days.) This is the point where John and his wife went above and beyond all responsibilities they had to us as customers. John dropped everything he had at the studio for two days and came out and completed our lighting and electrical and replaced items wired up incorrectly by the electrician and his apprentice that had been broken (~7 lights in total.)The lighting in our house came out much better then any expectation and really completes the space. We passed the final inspection and John continues to work with us on a few minor outstanding items through the process. He is one of the best and most talented people we worked with in the home building process and he and his wife helped us significantly at the end of the project when we needed help the most.

We went to Splashlight to get lighting for our office. Its an awesome place, and Mandy and John were both very helpful! They have a great selection and the employees will help you find exactly what you need. Our lighting turned out great!

I feel like I am sharing a best kept secret writing this review.As soon as I walked into Splashlight it felt like I was entering a secret club in NYC with super cool lighting and music. This is a professional lighting shop with an East Village feel to it.I discovered that Splashlight used to be located on Pearl Street. They moved to their new location about 1 year ago. John, Elisabeth and Mandy seem to work mostly with designers, architects and contractors but the general public is welcome if you can find it. The location is not easy to spot from the street. The owners were really smart on this one. There are plenty of lighting stores in Boulder that are very visable from the street if you are looking for run of the mill products. If you are searching for unique lighting and want to work with true lighting professionals that really understand what perfect lighting is all about this is the place you want to visit. Splashlight has access to some of the most interesting lighting designs you can imagine. They helped me design the lighting for my entire house. John, Elisabeth and Mandy came up with great ideas and had the patience I was looking for and let me tell you it looks absolutely incredible!I cant gush about this place enough!

Terrible experience at Splashlight! I was quoted a price for an item I desired, and when I returned to make the purchase I was told it would be triple the price ($500--->$1500)! The owner blamed his employees, offered a weak discount, and when I left very disappointed he said, See you later! See you never is more like it. Typical Boulder art world snobbery at its finest!I found a basically identical item at etsy oaklamp for so much less that I bought 2 amazing lamps for less than my initial misquote at Splashlight. Buyers beware of inflated prices and poor service!
