Brian is awesome! My brothers and I are very satisfied with his attention to detail! Hes very prompt every time I visit his business!
Great American, even better leather shop. A real staple in downtown Bozeman. You won’t find better custom leather work anywhere in the state.
Brian is as talented as they come. Hes a true artist. Hes not mass-producing wallets and dog collars and instead chooses to spend his time creating one-of-a-kind pieces like saddles, chaps, handbags, and briefcases. He made my husband a gorgeous hair-on hide motorcycle bag. We have several of his belts -- some plan and others beautifully tooled by hand. Stop in to see a real artist at work.
We had a wonderful three day workshop at Black Sheep learning how to carve leather. Superb teaching from Brian, guiding us through all the secrets of the trade. We really enjoyed his expertise and the well equipped professional workshop. Inspirational and exquisite workmanship in combination of a real love for the craft makes this workshop an absolute gem. Highly recommend to spend some quality time here.
Brian is a class act! The detail and quality he puts in his work is out -of-this -world. Have loved all of the work he has done for me and my husbandLove the location of the shop. Right downtown! If you need to be fluffed up or coddled, this is not your shop. If you want a shraight shooting Montana kind-of experience, Brian is your manWould recommend
BrianIs a pure genius! He’s done many projects for us in the last 9 years and each one has lasted the test of time and working abuse day in and day out. You will not find better quality or craftsmanship anywhere!
A crazy-cool true Montana boutique. From messenger bags, purses, wallets and belts - all built in the shop - to custom saddles and leather ranchwear, Black Sheep is an awesome place to shop for yourself or for a one-of-a-kind gift that your recipient will treasure.
Took a wallet and gloves to be repaired. The clerk told me it could be done (she stayed open late for me, which is nice). A week and a half goes by without a call. When I called them, a remorseless man (the owner, I suspect) informed me that they could not do the job and had meant to call me. Impressive...Otherwise, it seems like they have great leather works for sale, insufferable as the owner may be.
Im sorry I havent been back in your shop for a second course, but time just flew by:/ But my first leather course with you guys were awesome! Learned a lot! Its not going to be my last time!:)
My girlfriend placed an order for a bridle, it was to be my christmas present. The man told her it would be about two months before she could pick it up. She went to check in a few times, and he was very rude in telling her that he hadnt started it. They didnt seem too concerned when she cancelled her order three months later. I can personally recommend half a dozen places that care about the work you are having done. This is not one of them. It is unfortunate to see a small business operating with such disregard for the working class citizens of this town. He didnt need our money, so he probably doesnt need yours. Go somewhere where the bottom line isnt so visible.
This guy is the REAL DEAL!!! Excellent Leather Goods, Beautiful Saddles, ExceptionalTooling. I have been making leather goods (mostly leather jackets) for over 46 yearsin San Francisco and I Know what its all about. I dont know Brian, although I havemet him in his store, ahh the smell of someone elses Leather Shop, cant smell mineany more plus I just sold my business, Fog City Leather in The City. I wish I had thetalent and time to do this kind of work. Tooling is an old art and it takes skill and patience, its an exacting process that is not easy to do or learn. He seems like hewould be a 75 year old dude who has been doing this 60+ years, but he is young andVery Talented. Bozeman is lucky to have such a Master in its vicinity...
Awesome spot for custom leather work.
