Wow. I sure did not share the same experience as some of the positive reviews I am reading. Its really a shame because I drove 30 minutes out of my way to ask for help with enlarging a photo for my fathers memorial service. My father-in-law used this business for years as an appraiser, and I would have liked to continue my business here. Unfortunately, the very curt responses and disinterested staff member who helped me led me to leave the store in tears. Im sorry. If youre having a bad day, dont take it out on your customer. Ive kind of had a rough week too. This sure didnt help.

Well worth the drive from Saint Petersburg. Skip was extremely knowledgeable (made me feel like a straight beginner) I realized talking to him that I have SO MUCH MORE to learn. I needed a ND Filter for a couple of my lenses... Skip was there to help! There arent many photography/camera stores in my area (Port Charlotte) and I needed a ND filter to be able to control my frame rate with dense bright light. Anyways Skip helped me out and got what I needed... Support local businesss. Id rather buy from them than online. Much more trustworthy.

I was here today with my bf. My bf wanted some help, and ask few questions about cleaning products and few other issues, he is deaf and he said I got someone else, and walked away very rude and unprofessional attitude. I almost told him how rude when someone is new in your store and checking out items, asking questions and you are very rude? All you care about is top dollar money over service. We will NOT spend money for a rude attitude I dont care if you are the only camera store in the area. Ill buy elsewhere. Mr. Michael Arbor you are unprofessional and extremely rude and should not be in a management position you should be banned from even talking to customers, leave that to skip, and go sit in your office before you ruin the business.

As many others I found this place by accident, I live in Wesley Chapel and have my business in the bay area, but for equipment or service I had to go to the one store that I thought it was the only store open, all the way to Orlando. when I found Johnson Photo I had to check it out, I took the drive out of curiosity and I happen to encounter Skip, This guy was knowledgeable, in the 30 minutes I spend there, talking with him, we exchange lingo and tips, hows, do and donts. it was excellent to know that i can ask question with no expectations, well I know how lots of people go to the store, play with what they want, have that look and feel test, then they go online and purchase without supporting our small business, local business that need the extra hand. ANYWAYS, we talked about the sigma 70-200mm Art lens for canon, I went home and read reviews and watched videos on it, and decided to purchase it, so yes I checked prices online, but because the way I was informed and treated at Johnson Photo with Skip, I decided to make the drive and purchase it from them, in my hands same day, knowing that I would only get the best service as I did the first time, even though the first time I didnt purchase anything. if you are thinking of going there and checking it out, do so, make you are ready to purchase, cause they have just about everything you need. support your local business

Horrible customer service. I felt degraded by the older man that helped me, he assumed that I did not know what size paper my printer can handle (I assume this is because I am a young female) I tried being patient with him even though his attitude and treatment toward me was HORRIBLE. I will not be back. Thoroughly disappointed. As an artist and small business owner in the area, I was excited to support other artists and small businesses. If you want to shop in a toxic environment run by mostly white men who think they know better than you, shop here. Otherwise, shop literally anywhere else.

I went in searching for a usable camera, Faith was awesome. She educated me and on my buying options and listened to my camera needs. I was able to leave the store with everything I needed to take perfect photos. I searched for a camera in the big box stores and online, but ultimately I needed education and guidance. The camera I purchased is a joy to use, much more suited to my needs than my my well priced box store camera. They were able to direct me to their buy back retailers to sell my former camera. I was also excited to hear that they have an education program. They host photography classes, camera specific user groups and field trips. This store was an hour drive for me, but well worth it and Ill be returning.

Its been a long time since Id set foot in a photography store, so I was really pleased to find this shop. I admit I was a bit overwhelmed by the amount of items on display, but the staff were very friendly and incredibly thorough and helpful. I was greeted right away, and though I wasnt really looking for a specific item, there are a few general items Ive been considering for a while. I knew I needed a better tripod, but didnt know where to start looking, and Faith asked a few questions about what I liked to photograph, what kind of camera I have, and went ahead giving me a demo of a few models. When I decided on a model I liked, she offered to check on other colors available from the back (much to my surprise, you can get tripods in colors other than black now).I said Id take a few minutes to check out the camera bags, and she offered to show me some camera straps after that, if I was interested in an upgrade from the standard that comes with my camera. I took her up on the offer, and found one that was more comfortable and suitable for my usage. Again, more demonstration and good insight into how well it holds up and feels in the Florida heat.She also told me about some photography outings they offer, specifically related to my interests from earlier in the conversation, which would include hands-on help from a pro to get the shots you want done right. These outings seemed reasonably priced for the experience and help youd get. Classes and related events are also held at the store.For all the help and time and demonstrations, I ended up buying a very nice tripod and a new camera strap.Probably what surprised me the most was getting home and checking Amazon out of curiosity. The items I had already bought were well reviewed, and the prices were only a few cents difference. Ill definitely be back when I need (want) some new camera equipment!

These people are... how should I put it? Rude? Belittling? Call your intelligence into question so they can prove to you how smart they are in order to convince you to buy something they have in stock since the thing you want that they don’t have in stock is “totally not what you want, but have you considered _______?”I’ve been three times. Each time they crowd you like a bull in a pen (I was a rodeo cowboy once, I’m being literal), then they ask what brings you in, then they tell you why you’re wrong, then they ask you what camera you have, then they tell you why you’re wrong. Then you tell them what exact thing you want to buy today, then they tell you they don’t have it, then they tell you what you really want, and you’re supposed to just comply and buy it.But don’t. Don’t comply and buy it. Amazon is cheaper and has it in stock.

Great place if you’re into photography or video. They’re limited to videography equipment, but they have a wide variety of cameras, lenses, lights, and so much more. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and courteous. I drive all the way from Hillsborough County when I need a piece of equipment right away.

Just want to express my very sincere gratitude to you all for your help in finding the graduation image and for the wonderful print of it you gave our family that were able to use in a recent memorial service. Had a problem with a filter stuck on a lens. After multiple people tried to get it off, I went to Johnson’s. The staff were friendly and fixed the problem in 10 minutes. Thank you.

I didnt know there was a brick and mortar so close to home. Luckily while searching Sonys website they came up. The staff here is very very knowledgeable. Not just about camera equipment. Also printing, printers and paper. I traded in some lenses for and upgrade and got a printer. I went back today and wasted about 2 hours of their time asking questions about everything I could. They were tolerant and happy to help. I will be back. Often.

I have visited Johnson Photo a few times this past month looking into a new camera and which one would suite me best for what I am doing. Skip helped me on several occasions. He was able to answer all of my questions and I felt confident in the purchase that I made.

I completely agree with another customer. They are so friendly until you attempt to make a return. My receipt said I had 30 days to return and the salesman assured me if it wasnt what I wanted to return it within 30 days. Not only did they not allow me to return the camera but they were unbelievably rude! The manager and the owner were the worst offenders. Dont do business with this company. I found a company in NY who were very helpful and reasonably priced. Thats who I will deal with from now on!

Steve was super friendly and very patient with explaining features of a lens I wanted to buy on Friday afternoon near closing time. We dont realize how lucky we are to have a brick and mortar camera store right in our back yard! Will return for all my photography needs! ....after 20 minutes of trying out lens on my camera body and getting excellent explanation of the lens features...I bought a 1k plus lens the first time I stepped foot in the store...amazon may b cheaper but when buying a high priced product you will be wondering about condition..is it really new...is it from the USA market, what if its damaged and have to return and wait more..and will it really be what I need..oh and good ole fashion service from a knowledagaeble salesperson...enough said!!!

Excellent customer service with regards to camera and equipment. I had the worst experience with regards to a large print order. From start to finish it took 6 weeks for my order to be complete. Their were several errors with my order and delays on their end. They charge 60-80% more than online professional print labs, which I knew however wanted to keep my money with a local business. I no longer shop here due to the errors and delays. I can get my order online and delivered to my door in 3-4 days with the same quality prints/canvas.

What a great camera store! So many have closed and I previously resorted to bring equipment online, but I hate not having personalized service to discuss equipment with. I found this place on Google and there are no other camera stores in Bradenton. They offer a full range of photography and camera services and their prices are the same as online... Unheard of!

For Christmas my mom bought me a mirrorless camera from here and a intro class was included in the purchase. I finally was able to attend the class since I dont live in the area and I found it to be very informational and helpful.

Went in store to get advice for camera equipment i inherited, lady salesperson was very short with me,wouldnt answer my questions wouldnt allow me to explain what i wanted had 2 referrals from people on anna maria island witch is where i drove from i will never visit this store again wont referr anybody to go there ever very disappointed

This is an outstanding photography store. I have complete trust in the staff to help me make good decisions about the right equipment that will meet all of my needs. Michael and staff take time to listen and actually hear what you are saying, no over-selling, no pressure, just sound advice. I don’t buy camera equipment on line because I have learned from experience that if you don’t hold it and play with it you are probably going to regret the decision. Also, if something goes wrong it really helps to have someone who knows the gear and can work with you to resolve the problem. I know JPI is there if I need themI recently visited on the spur of the moment to inquire about a large printing job. I was given 1:1 attention by Mike in the graphics department, my end product was amazing and saved the day for a show I was putting on the next day. Ive stopped by to chat at Johnsons a couple of times and Ive purchased a number of accessories, a camera, a lens, and even had images printed from them over the past couple of years while I learned what I needed to before expanding the breadth of equipment I use.My most recent trip and the trip which will be my last was to buy 2 batteries for my wifes camera. Online, at literally every retailer (the manufacturer, B&H, Adorama, Amazon, etc.), the batteries were $56.95 each. At Johnsons, the sticker price is $67. I asked if they would price match. They refused. I left vowing never to return.Brick and mortar camera stores are a rarity these days which is a shame. Heck, brick and mortar stores of all kinds are dwindling as evidenced by all the vacant retail space in this area and the US as a whole.Johnsons lost me as a customer over $20 about 10 months ago. In the following 9 months, I purchased $20,000 worth of cameras, lenses, and lighting online, instead of from Johnsons, because of the fact that they wouldnt price match the MANUFACTURER on those batteries! SERIOUSLY, they wouldnt honor Canons own pricing! $10 of additional profit on a battery was too important to them and as a result, they missed out on the sale of $20k of other equipment in the short-term, and a dedicated customer in the long-term.
