Amazing cakes and confections here. I do all my birthday cakes here now. Really top knotch. Great selection of confections from bear claws and donuts to cakes and cookies. Would be had pressed to find a better confectionery shop in 100 miles. Highly recommend satisfying your sweet tooth here.
I had called Sunday and I was told that i was still good with ordering a fondant cake. I was aware that they are closed Monday. I had to call and follow up twice and never received a call back from anyone. I understand that they are busy, but that is what having help to makes calls is. Well, now who ever I spoke to was rude from the beginning. Starting with speaking to who ever it was on Sunday. I asked this person why i was not told from the get go that this was not possible, they are opened on Sunday. They did not have pricing for the kind of cake i wanted, which i have purchased same kind months prior. What really got me was the lack of customer service and the fact that none of the employees that i spoke to did not know to tell me this was not possible to do, since i did not give enough notice, which i was told i did. And to top it off, this person i spoke to said they can put the image on a sheet cake. Wow, wonderful, this was not a cake for a child. Very disappointed in Lovin Oven especially when i send a lot of my friends and family to order cakes for all kind of occasions from them. Never ever will i go back to this bakery, very disappointed.

Picked up a strawberry rhubarb pie and a pumpkin roll from here. Absolutely amazing. The pumpkin roll was easily the best Ive ever eaten. Strawberry rhubarb pie never tasted so good either!The layout of this store is so unique! With a viewing area for the cake decorators! In the window not only do they have all the cakes you can purchase but quite a few wedding cakes/special orders on display!Kudos to the decorators! They do a great job!

Truly and undeniably the best bakery Ive ever been to. My family and I have been ordering cakes and picking up other treats from LOC for several years now and still goin strong.IMHO this family-owned business is easily the best bakery/cakery in the Chicago area to say the least. Venue is always kept ultra clean and customer service continues to reign supreme.Prices have always been reasonable and although prices for specific cakes depending on the design may seem high, their work is well worth it. I still find myself coming to this location even though the cake baking is done up at the much bigger Antioch location.Ken Slove may have passed and he will be dearly missed but his legacy will live on. May his soul rest in peace. May God bless Ken & his family always.

Love this place for many reasons! Such delicious pastries and desserts! We came to Lovin Oven for them to make our wedding cake. The tasting was delicious! Alexandra helped us design our wedding cake and made our vision come to life. She is delightful to be around and such a friendly woman! We really enjoyed working with her. She was very helpful. The cake was delicious and our guests really enjoyed the different flavors and look of our cake. It was so pretty! Also, a year from now we can send them a photo of our cake and they will re-create the topper for free! I am looking forward to enjoying this again on our anniversary. I understand that Covid-19;has brought issues in, such as making sure only a couple of people are in the store at one time. Heres the thing. I have been going here all my life and its always been the same entrance. They have now changed the entrance to the side which yeah, is fine. But the original entrance still has a big sign that says entrance on it. My family and I didnt realize that there was a side entrance and still walked into the original entrance. The staff were incredibly rude to us for an honest mistake, mind you, there was only one other costumer there so I personally dont think we were much of a problem.Anyways. We said were sorry and continued looking for treats. A woman walked in later and someone else started helping her. No one talked to us. The woman was incredibly nice and made sure we were helped first, but the employee seemed incredibly rude to us. I can promise you, we wont be going back. My mother warned us to not go there but I wanted a brownie and it was a simple walk. Apparently my mother has always experienced rude employees there and after seeing it now, I wont go there anymore. Its called costumer service. I work with people and I will keep a smile on and help everyone. If you cant do that, dont be in customer service.
I do like this bakery but was very disappointed in the order. I ordered one dozen and a half of hot cross buns for Easter. Six flavors of each. When I ordered on the phone they asked what time I would come in to get my order so it would be READY for me. After standing in line for 25 minutes waiting for my order when I went to get it, it was NOT ready and they ran out of one of the flavor buns requested. They did apologize BUT I stressed that the point was I placed the order so this would not happen. I got told who I suppose was the manager is it really going to spoil your Easter not having one of the flavors. I said that was not the point it was so that my order would be filled correctly. Then I got our internet was down. This happened at Christmas too where they couldnt find my order for the stollen and had to look for it. I feel if my ordered had been filled before my pick up time I would not be writing this review.

I agree with other customers that the pastries and cakes are amazing. However, I ordered a birthday cake ahead of time and paid for it with a credit card. They had to close for a week due to Covid 19 issues and I had to find another place to get a specialty cake at the last minute. Totally understand that they had to close. The customer service was terrible on phone concerning refund. One employee told me they didnt have the credit card # of card I used and no receipt showing which one I used. Told I couldnt get card refunded unless I knew which one. Looked it up and called back. Employee who took my call barely let me explain what happened and could have cared less about my being inconvenienced. Their customer service skills were terrible. Listen to the customer and apologize. Thats all you have to do. Dont need excuses. You have a job because the public buys your services. Wont buy from Lovin Ovens Cakery again.

Do you ever crave something from your childhood? Lovin ovens chocolate chip coffee cake is that for me. My family has gone here for over 30 years! I drive from Mchenry all the way out to the round lake location to try and pick some up every time your out! This morning was probably the last attempt to even get some. While the food is amazing it’s not worth the disappointment anymore.
I have to say I am very disappointed with my last visit.... Between my husband and I, we have been long time customers between the 3 locations for as long as I can remember... maybe 11 years or more. This is my number ONE spot for cakes for all my occasions. For the amount we pay for these cakes you would think they would give you a complimentary colored border for the cake. My last visit, I was told if I wanted a colored border I would have to pay per serving. Not even a flat rate. I would have to pay for the color and for the style of the border as well....So I asked “Are you just giving customers white cakes”? The answer was yes. Don’t get me wrong, these are the best cakes but be ready to pay EXTRA for EVERY SINGLE THING!
I love the variety of desserts and cakes, and even their lunch menu is amazing! On top of that, I love how reasonable their prices are! You get top quality sweets that look and taste amazing for very very reasonable prices! I love this and the Antioch location and I absolutely recommend them both!
I love this bakery! The baked goods are always fresh. They are a little pricey but you pay for the value so I dont mind the extra cost! The store practices social distancing so you may have to wait outside because they only are allowing a certain number of customers in at a time so be prepared if its cold outside.

Had a great variety of baked goods. Prices were fair. Staff were friendly and so helpful. Swedish Flop was so good just like grandmas. The moon pies are huge and very tasty. The butter cookies are the best.

Ordered my birthday cake from here and they killed it in the best way possible! I brought a drawing(That wasnt very good) and they made my vision into a cake and they made it look better than I envisioned it meant a lot and it was very good tasting looking and it was quick and fairly cheap

I love so many of their products. The frosted sugar cookies are amazing. The cakes are delicious. Their special desserts are wonderful. The reason I gave it three stars is their prices are very high and the service isnt always very friendly. Sometimes I go here and get great service, but sometimes the services is rather cold. Overall its good, but it could be better.

This place has a wonderful selection of sweet treats. So sad that they closed the location near me in Libertyville. I just moved to the area and heard so many wonderful things about them. But by the time I moved here, they were gone. So I mad the drive to Antioch. Wow! Was it ever worth it!

Lifelong customer and have ordered numerous Barbie birthday cakes as my daughter was growing up. Tried to order a Barbie bride cake for her wedding shower, but very disappointed. It came with a pink top and plain white skirt ... no design on the skirt at all. People thought it didn’t look finished. And what Bride has a pink top? It certainly didn’t look Bridal. I ran to a store and bought a Barbie bride and used the veil and bouquet to try and salvage the $60+ cake. I hot glued the veil to her head and the bouquet to her hand. I now had ~$100 into this cake, but at least it looked Bridal now. To add insult to injury, I was told “ it’ll still taste good”. Really ... is that what I should have said to my daughter on one of her special days? Great customer service?Wish I could post my picture to share how much it did not look like a Barbie bride cake ... just a Barbie cake. Very disappointed with the cake and the lack of customer service.
I dont even like cake and I overspend here. Willingly. Do your wedding cake here, you wont regret it, and anyone who partakes will ask where it came from.Been also doing birthday cakes and cookies/cupcakes since then.

The pastries and cookies are very good but a little pricey. I always bought the tomato basil bread and pesto bread and was extremely disappointed to learn that they have discontinued them. I hope they decide to bring them back.

Ive been visiting this bakery for 3 years now. They played an instrumental part in making even the smallest occasions special. We have our favorites; rum balls, red velvet cake, a variety of cookies, Heath cake, toffee brownies...but EVERYTHING is delicious! My mom loves the fruit cake. If youve got a sweet tooth, youll be sure to find what youre craving at Lovin Oven.
I cant think of a better cake. Cake has a great taste and a real good texture. Buttercream frosting is also really good, not too sweet, but not too butter tasting.
Words cant describe how phenomenal this bakery is. We used them for our wedding cake (which was 80s themed). I had no idea what I wanted it to look like. I just spewed out some ideas and they made it a reality. Totally exceeded my expectations! Not to mention they offered us a complimentary first tier replica of our wedding cake in exchange for our wedding photos of it. We ate it together with family on our 2 year anniversary and relived the day. They made everything about our wedding so special. Plus, the cake was gluten free since our in laws and most of our family are gluten intolerant. It was the most delicious cake I ever had, even though it was gluten free! I love this place and will use them again in the future!

They are above and beyond their competition. This particular store also had Abbotts exclusive business at one time for all of their functions. My parents got their wedding cake here. Ever since for birthdays, special occasions and when weve been craving something sweet, we know if we want a really good dessert, its gotta be lovin oven. Service is great. Quality cannot be beat.
Has anyone ever wondered why their cake is so good? Its because they have a 4am start time, and most days the bakers and cake decorators work 14 to 16 hours with ONE half hour break. Highly illegal. I used to work for these people a couple years. I was there a week before they let me go for someone else. They do not want you to learn. They just expect things. They do not train. Next time you are at lovin oven remember everyone who made that cake, because they probably just pulled a 4am to 10pm shift....
Stopped in for a quick breakfast treat. Everything was to die for. Chocolate chip muffins, chocolate bismarck, raspberry danish all fabulous! Their selection of beautiful cakes blew me away.
I had friendly service but unfortunately the product was not even decent. I purchased a super big iced cookie for my nephews pre-k graduation. It was very cute and all the kids were excited to bite into it. But when it came to that time, not a single kid ate it! 6 kids all took a bite and none wanted to take a second bite. It was flavorless.
The bakery items are fantastic, the server was polite, too bad she didnt listen to what I asked 3 TIMES. I got home and had 8 paczki - ( I asked for 1 of each of the 9 flavors) and I had 2 different flavors duplicated.. There were a LOT of people yesterday, but I purposely went at 11:30 so it was after breakfast and before lunch. There were only 15 people in the bakery and 6 people behind the counter! Very disappointed that I missed out on trying out 1/3 of the flavors! On a good note - they ones I had were delicious!

First visit since their expansion where you can now dine in. They added a bar and small game room (slots), with 2 large TV screens. It is nicely decorated too. The sandwich I ordered was exceptionally good. I would highly recommend Lovin Italian !❤

When I think of a bakery I think about cookies and cakes, my wife ordered a cake for my birthday and when we went to get it I was amazed at all the different kinds of muffins, cookies, candy, coffee cakes, and even fresh bread, well needless to say we left with more than just a cake. The bread was excellent and apple coffee cake was fantastic
We got a custom cake made here to announce my wifes pregnancy. They more than delivered through both customer service and cake creation. It turned out perfectly and the sales rep who helped with designing was phenomenal. This is the second custom cake they have made for us and each time they have done a remarkable job.
My 4 yr old granddaughter designed her birthday cake. They sat with her and listened to what she wanted. The cake turned out amazing!
