False info about knowledge of Guitars. My husband and I bought two Guitars and they were brand new straight out of box and never told us that we needed to stretch the strings nor did they share the fact that it needed to be tuned before the strings were put on and that the strings should be at a certain height on the Guitars. We just left on our own to figure it out. And the Guitars were to big for a beginner. There just so many missed information that I feel should been told to us. When I was returning them I felt pressure on returning them back.its like they were trying everything to keep us from returning them. I got credited back on my card and the other one they gave me an in-store credit. I was so upset about this so I called them and it took me about an hour to get my second guitar 🎸 credited back to my bank card. I even lost my 69.00 dollar warranty that I purchased. Its not a place I would go back a purchase another Guitars. There company is on a fine line and have claimed bankruptcy. Before purchasing any electronic equipment from guitar 🎸 center do your homework and look in it first.
I was always told not to go to guitar centers because they were rude and didn’t treat customers well, and had had experiences with Boston guitar centers that confirmed this for me. I’ve been here twice and they proved me and everyone who told me that so, so wrong. Everyone we interacted with went out of their way to help us. One man, when I was too shy to play, encouraged me, saying “I hear people play all day. Don’t worry about it, we don’t judge.” I was helped three times by Dave, who helped me set up and troubleshoot an electric guitar that wasn’t playing, even though I barely knew what I was doing. He wasn’t bothered or irritated by it, but seemed genuinely eager to help a newer guitarist discover the joy of playing guitar. He went on to help us pick out guitars, try out amps, and essentially walked us through getting the best instrument that we could get. All five of the employees that we worked with over the course of our visit were friendly and treated us with respect. We didn’t feel condescended to, or like we were being taken advantage of. The entire experience was personal, professional, and trustworthy. I will undoubtedly be coming back here for any guitar needs I have.
After talking to corporate & having an awful experience, I decided to go to the store.I was greeted when walking through the door and that friendly customer service kept up the whole visit. Got every answer to my questions in a knowledgeable & positive manner.Talk about polar opposites!!
I needed a Repair on my Acoustic that I play everyday and John Gray: Repair Technician was AMAZING! He fixed my guitar which had multiple problems in 5 minutes. I was so blown away, I highly recommend the repair center and John especially. The charge was nothing compared to what I expected! 10 stars! Thanks John!
Amazing service. I wanted to start playing again after a ten year hiatus and they helped me get all of the equipment I needed and werent overbearing. Super friendly staff. Ill go to them from now on for all of my gear!
Love being able to go on and Jan on the electronic and classic drum sets.
Tried selling some used gear here a couple times now never again. Every employee I’ve encountered has a terrible attitude so bad that I would not recommend them work in retail now or ever never more dissatisfied as a customer. I would not recommend this place to anyone for any reason after my last two visits
Friendly working Staffs here, I went to try acoustic guitars and DJ sets, they all are very supportive. I will definitely go back to get more stuffs.
Completely useless employees. Napoleanic manager with long hair has zero people skills. Really should stick with his weekend cover band gig...Corporate policies oblivious to musicians needs/wants - complete lack of insight to companys impending obsolescence. When they do the autopsy on Guitar Center cause of death will not be difficult to assess.
Open during constuction at Marketplace in Braintree. Next to Five Below. Great for musicians for non-customers.
Reading other reviews it seems to go one way or the other with customer service. I felt bombarded while attempting to shop for a new guitar. I feel the term I’m just looking is a social cue for I don’t really want to be bothered, but apparently there it means come up to me every 5 min and tell me random facts about $6000 guitars and every promo they have and have had in the past week. Then while attempting to try acoustic guitars in the small room the guy felt the need to announce at volume 100 about the credit card promo to the 3 people in the store. Seriously felt like I was shopping for a used car.
I have been here many times to purchase gear. They a good selection and a knowledgeable staff.
Eh. decent place to go pick up strings or odd/music related type gifts or something. Lessons not as good. took lessons here and was very disappointed in them. Gave the guy the benefit of the doubt and stuck with it for a few months to see if things improved - they didnt. For a 30 minute lesson (short to begin with) I felt like the guy was always clock watching instead of concentrating on my lesson and being present. Unless he was texting or on his phone - taking time away from my lesson. Due to his calls/texts (not on my end at all...I was always arriving early) we always started late by at least 5 minutes, and then end early. so a 30 minute lesson easily became a 20 minute lesson. In that short time frame I honestly just dont think I learned anything that I couldnt just learn online. Was hoping for something more structured so that after the 20 minutes was over I could look to the next thing. Never got that. oh well, back to learning online from youtube
Ben was very helpful. He found the drumsticks I needed and got my online order.
Dave was very professional, knowledgeable, and provided phenomenal customer service in assisting me with an order that I placed online that had problems. Not only did he rectified the problem with the order in a quick and efficient manner, he went as far as to expedite it to me at no cost.Ive done customer service for well over 20 years and am very knowledgeable regarding how to treat the customer as well as assisting the customer in resolving any issues that they have regarding a product.Daves persistence in resolving the issue that I encountered should be commended and an example of how customer service should be.Based on his handling of the issue, and the excellent experience that I had, it is clear that his customer service skills is a reflection of the type of service one is to expect when walking into this store.I look forward to one day visit this store in my travels. Thank you again and God bless.
Came to buy a Gibson standard here but they were too busy to let me try it because its above $2k. Smh... I guess Ill just go to Reverb 🙂
I called ahead over the phone. Man who answered was extremely rude. Terrible communcation and customer service.
I prefer to shop local, but sometimes you ust cant beat the bonus deals guitar center gives on a trade. The savings are huge for big ticket items. Staff at Braintree were nice and helpful.
Good customer service with knowledgeable reps to answer your questions
I dont get to the Braintree location often but when I do its always great.
So happy that Guitar Center has been able to continue giving aspiring artist and musicians opportunities to come in and pursue their passion! Very much needed during these times!! 💫🎶
Got a six string restrung and tuned! Very helpful staff 👏
Friendly and super professional staff, one of the best GC locations. Other reviews are way too critical and over dramatic. These guys always do their best to take care of everyone. Especially during the current pandemic, they go above and beyond!
Nice place, was in for about 30 minutes. never asked if I need any help, or good afternoon. But all in all its a cool looking place.
Very happy with their piano lesson offering and flexibility and technology supporting remote or in person.
The customer service here was horrendous. The least they could do was say hello and have manners. It was as if I was an inconvenience to them?Too much back and forth for a simple transaction. Will not be retuning to this location. If you care about customer service, I don’t recommend this location.
Great experiences every time I’ve been here. Vinnie has been very helpful, and accommodating. Will be back.
They are starting to run out of stock with a lot of mixers and other devices. Before Covid they had everything you needed.
My kids, teenage daughters, loved the store
Unfortunately guitar center is better for a drummer to go online...I have gone there five or six times at the Braintree location and they havent had what I wanted. Even if it says its there online. Sweetwater or Amazon is a better bet. Sorry I wish I could give a better review. But they are not trying to serve the local drummer 👎
Needs improvement big time (Braintree)The one in Ft Myers is a good example of how a GC should be run.
Great experience as always the people that work are always very helpful and very experience at there job
Slow help ...but Reasonable prices.
The people here always super friendly and help you to the best of their ability. Only 4 stars because their product line and quality isnt as good as some smaller shops. I still end up here most of the time because they are super convenient when you need something in a pinch.
Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Pointed me in the right direction, not trying to oversell me. Left with the best gifts ever
I was surprised to see an upstairs level 😊 Even though the product was onsite, we had to go to the Braintree store for the product we came for 😬 because of some weird 30 day before product goes on shelf for sale policy. The employee was very helpful and knowledgeable.
Always find what i am after, and the staff is very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Its a great environment to dream about learning new stuff and the prices are good too.... would recommend this place to anyone.
Typical G.C. staff with no real knowledge of what they sell. The guy waiting on me did not even know the model he brought out to try to sell to me. Walked out after that...
Good inventory and the staff are nice...horrible company all up and Never, Never Never order a guitar from them for delivery. That would be a mistake. Go here if you need something quick and only if you cant buy locally from a small business shop many of whom are also certified dealers.
Great people here. They take great care of my guitars and their acoustic guitar room is awesome. Will be buying a combo amp from them in the future!
Brandon is the most helpful person and help me pick a piano upgrade. Shame they are in a bad financial position and may not be there in a year or 2.
Horrible customer service. I do not recommend this place.
Super friendly crew and will always try to help you.
Guitar center is the best place for beginners or advanced players! They have everything you need.
By far the emptiest, least stocked, least friendly guitar center I have ever been to. Their new guitar selection is pathetic, Pre-owned guitars are virtually nonexistent, the staff is pushier than any other location Ive been to. I came in looking for something multi-scale and extended range, yet the sales rep continued to shamelessly and forcefully push me to buy a schecter cr-6 as if it filled any of my needs. Two extra stars because I was able to get out of there with a practice amp for 30% less than any other list price I found, but from now on Ill be taking my service to the Boston location or stick with musicians friend.
Theres two employees that are cool.
Very helpful staff, they helped me find exactly what I need for the cheap.
The wait to get into the store was quite long (30 minutes) because of the coronavirus, but once I got inside I was so pleased with the customer service! I was a first-time buyer looking to get a ukulele, and Ben was so helpful and so nice. I feel like he went above the expected level of service, and even helped me get a good deal on the ukulele. I had a great experience and would come back in a heartbeat.
NO STARS! I stood there for an hour while they took apart my entire Rogers drum set including cymbals x3 and sat on their phones looking up prices for each piece. I called before I drove there because I came from cape cod over an hour away, told what I was bringing. They offered me $185 for it all. In the store they were selling the same set for $800. A complete waste of my time. I was at least hoping the offer would be $500-$600.Maybe this store should add an option to email or somehow send pictures of the equipment, their site says they need to test it to see if it works, funny because they did not!
Knowledgeable staff and a good basic collection of musical instruments.
Good social distancing measures in place and staff are certainly friendly and helpful - but the staff are being stretched incredibly thin during peak sales time. Give them a raise for being such troopers throughout this.
Great Experience there, the guy who was helping me check out redirected me to a new version of the items I was purchasing and helped me save money. Would recommend this specific location to a friend! 😎
Stood there waiting for the bass repair guy that would never show up. At the very least give me a heads up that he’s on break or that he’s just not in.
I popped a string on my guitar and called the store for help. They were eager to fix it up. They even taught me how to do it myself! Great store. Great customer service.
Very responsibly socially distancing allcustomers, the store was very clearly marked as to where to go they ask you what youre there to do and then get you service right away. You may have to wait outside in line if its busy but theyre being responsible.. well done.
Very helpful my fiancee is very into guitars. Will to explain a few things about the size and style he was looking for. He needs a smaller size guitar because he is under 5 feet tall.
Great, knowledgeable service and enlightening lessons.
Had alot of stuff but everything is all over the place for example microphone cords or adapters will be on the wall then some in the case near register and then some on the other side of store. It would be alittle easier to shop if all of the same item was in one spot
Very disappointed. I always shop local and teach my children to do the same. For this reason. we traveled up from Plymouth on a Sunday to find out more information regarding digital pianos vs. keyboards for my 14 year old who just started playing by ear a couple of months ago on a very small kids keyboard. We are looking into lessons and had cash in hand to purchase what Guitar Center recommended. Im not sure if it was a Sunday afternoon that contributed to the sales persons indifference but indifference it was. In fact, he never addressed my son in any way who was standing right there. His answers to my questions seemed hurried as if he had somewhere to be. Moments later, he left the keyboard area altogether. For the next 15 minutes or so my son and I walked around looking at different models. We decided on a model to purchase but there wasnt anyone within site to discuss our plan. I left with my son and decided to purchase online. As we left I discussed with my son what is and what is not good customer service. Definitely a learning opportunity.
Wonderful selection of new and used guitars and other instruments.
Horrible customer service when you call send a lot of money to be waiting 45mins on the phone
Good music store.
They sell you used gear pretending it is new.
Helpful staff
Brandon and Allen both helped me. I was immediately assisted when I walked inside the store. They both had recommendations based on skilled knowledge of products as soon as I offered criteria. I will absolutely come back to see Brandon and Allen again!
Much more personal service then at other Regional locations of Guitar Center. Guitar tech Ben is outstanding, worked on a short deadline and got two of my guitars ready for a gig ... very impressed. Store manager Jason was kind enough to come outside and jump start my truck when I attempted to leave and realized my battery was dead. Not the usual chain store
I got great help in looking for the right bass for my son and an amp to go with it. Hes doing great with his lessons and building up more confidence in using the instrument.
Worked with Shawn trying to find a MIC stand. I walked in 10 minutes before close, but my tardiness didnt hinder the service I received. Shawn took the time to explain the pros and cons of each item and stayed with me until I was completely done. Great customer service.
Had a couple of issues with a few big purchases, we returned with both items about 5 days after purchase. With receipt in hand, we were immediately helped by staff with both items (two exchanges, one is being shipped). The staff is extremely helpful especially when they dont have an item in stock or at their location. We were given many different options when it came to the return/exchange with one item (because it was not in stock atm). They also have lay away which is a huge plus when it comes to this oh so lovely but semi-expensive passion for music.♡
Ive been there just once, but I did live this place.Im not a pro. Anyone who likes music will get crazy in this place.Drums, tumbas, guitar and all kinds of instruments.Did I mentioned how this place is huge. You can buy microphones to speakers. You must go there
Great selections and reasonable prices. The people are helpful and friendly. A good place to get your music supplies..
Found a used guitar at this location online, drove an hour to go buy it. When I arrived the guitar was missing a string. I asked if the guitar would come with a new set of strings or at least the 1 string replaced. The sales associate said “no the guitar will not have any strings replaced, however we can re-string the guitar and set it up for 50.00$”. Just wanted to pass this experience on to anyone else looking at used guitars here. I’ll be looking elsewhere.
I have to say the worker DAVE here was FANTASTIC! Great Knowledge on gear, went ABOVE & BEYOND to help me out! I live in the city of Boston and I actually went a hour and a half out of my way because when I called and asked for help Dave was SUPER COOL and said, COME ON IN! Boy, I did not regret going because he hooked me up with three pieces I really needed even though he was busy helping another person out and sending an e-mail out and as soon as he was done with those two he swooped in, took care of me and got me my stuff! GREAT STORE! GREAT SELECTION! Better than the Fenway Park store in the city of Boston since this one is only a 10 minute walk from the MBTA red line also. THANKS DAVE! YOU ARE THE MAN!
Good set up for covid precautions. A little understaffed since they have to gwt the guitars down but good selction
Ive been going to Guitar Center for over 6yrs now only because I moved up here 6 yrs ago and there werent any on the Cape when I lived there to go to. What I like about the place is the amount of choices you have to choose from whether its an instrument youre looking to buy or recording equipment with many choices to choose from that should fit most peoples budget on what they can afford or just browsing around. I mean they just have so much there its hard to put it all into words what they have. But they also have the little things that you wouldnt expect from a music store. Ill say that theyre very thorough in the gear and merchandise that they have in stock. What I love most is being able to pick up and play anything that they have in that store without feeling like Im being watched like a criminal with no pressure from staff to please not touch this or please put that back unless you plan on buying that. The staff first and foremost are very friendly and accommodating going the extra mile to serve you in whatever that you need help with. Im a guitar player so guitars are my thing and what a choice to pick from and even the acoustic guitars are abundant especially with many different guitar makers pretty much represented hanging from there walls. You can spend whatever your budget is from thousands to less than a $100 on an acoustic there. Even equipment for DJs are available from turntables to speakers to studio monitors. Anyway I think you can get an idea of what I mean about the choices to choose from in the many different aspects of music represented that they have in stock. I highly recommend the place because we should be so lucky to have a place like that where we can go. Theres a lot of unfortunate people who dont have a music store like Guitar Center near them to go to and we have a few in and around the Boston area. Affordable, Friendly Service, and Many Choices!!!
U know..its Guitar Center..
Came in to sell my used guitar. Got some decent money for it. Customer service was awful. A young employee named Ryan as well as a few co-workers were either unprofessional, unfriendly and unorganized. Very nice store but management badly needs to run a tighter ship there.
I am honestly so disappointed in the lack of professionalism and the blatant discrimination your employee Alain displayed today as I shopped around inside of your store 09/18/2018 at about 7:00 pm. Me and my son were looking into drum sets that he was so excited about because I told him I was going to purchase one for him. We were inside of your store for about 20 minutes, as we were walking around we observed multiple people primarily Caucasian touching and testing out multiple instruments. As excited as my son was he touched and test out drum sets believing that there were no problem because we observed everyone testing them out and no one approaching them. That’s when your employee Alain decided to not only approach me but insulting me and my son by saying and I quote his exact words “Don’t touch, that is too expensive” as my son is touching a drum set, leaving him confused and wondering why he was getting in trouble for touching something that he just observed others doing and not being told not to touch because it is “too expensive”. Your employee Alain racially profiled me because I am a Latina woman. Instead of your employee asking if we needed assistance or asked if we had any questions. He assumed that I could not afford an instrument and instructed my child not to touch it. As he walked away and offered his assistance to a Caucasian couple adding insult to injury. I filed a formal complaint against this employee while I was still inside of your store in total disbelief. so this will not be a surprise to Alain. I hope that in the future no one EVER walks into a store that was once a fun place for me and my son and never gets racially profiled for touching something that is deemed too expensive for someone that looks like me to afford. Not realizing that had he offered his help and treated us with respect he would’ve realized that there was no price for my sons happiness.
Staff are helpful and willing to get you what you want, 4 stars instead of 5 because they could definitely have a more diverse selection of electric guitars. theres so many gibson/fender/ibanez and not a lot of the other good brands. The guitar techs are knowledgeable and have been able to fix and set up all of my guitars as well as custom wiring for pickups. If youre a beginner just realizing interest in guitar or a long time player whos intonation is a little out of whack, youll find what you need here.
What a great place to find what you need instrumentally! I think the guys are completely helpful and easy to work with. Go there and get your groove on. Its the best place.
Nice bigger than mass ave and Kenmore store
I went into the store last night to purchase a guitar for my girlfriend for Christmas. Ben was/is my salesperson...Great customer service and he is an asset to Guitar Center. I will be back soon to buy a guitar for myself.
Was looking for a guitar to buy my daughter and John (emp. 115410 ) is a great example of what an employee should be. Helped me to find a 3/4 acoustic guitar. Perfect size for my kiddo. Thanks
Great store with an excellent variety of products. The store would get 5 stars but when I recently went in to get a particular item a employee said they didnt have any even thought their website said they had several in stock. I then went to another employee who spent about 30 minutes looking for the item and found it.
Bought an amazing acoustic guitar here. An older gentleman that helped me decide which one to buy is a gem. World needs more of ppl like him. He had me turn around and played both without me knowing which one he was playing . He told me listen with my heart and soul . Hes a genius and guitar master . Thank you
Pandemic zone-very uncomfortable experience for me.On the good they had the Boss Katana 50 in stock 😎
This place is pretty cool they should have like a Guitar Center band that practices on someday and have people going watch so then they can go in there and think oh s*** I need guitar strings to even though I know I dont but I feel guilty for being there without buying something because I usually go there just to use the guitars
The staff is good, only problem is getting someone to help since there is usually little staffing compared to the amount of customers in store. They have been helpful with all my needs once at the register but could work on efficiency. Not the worst, not the best either though. Jeff the manager did help me get a deal I thought was only good online and for that I’m grateful.
Great manager, some staff is iffy but the managers and supervisors are great, the company offers alot I enjoy just going there, as a musician I can spend all day there. Although the staff is not as informative as they used to there are still good ppl and great products there. I definitely consider myself a regular customer.
Rep was very helpful
Its a nice Guitar Center. It does its job. There isnt much in the way of a pedal selection and the cables are way overpriced. At this point, they should just order from Amazon and sell those for a few dollars profit.
Giutar center had a lot of reasonably priced instruments and obviously has lessons on site. Lotta cool accessories and records. I didnt but anything because I was looking for violin instruction book but I did have a good time.
I was very disappointed in my experience with Guitar Center Lessons. Since it’s a corporation I expected they’d have the basics covered, but they really seemed to struggle at getting right something as fundamental as having a teacher there at the time of my lesson. Twice I heard “the system removed you from the schedule”: once when I called ahead to confirm my first lesson, and once when I showed up for my second lesson and there was no teacher there. GC, it sounds like your system doesn’t work. I’ve taken lessons for decades and getting my name to stay on the schedule has never been a problem. One thing I have to be really clear about, the employees where all great. At every step of the way they took ownership for the issues and tried to resolve these problems. They were understanding and bent over backwards to make things right. The problem is Guitar Center’s system. It seems they are not setting there dedicated and talented employees up for success. I truly wish I could continue to work with the instructor I had. She was great and I felt like I got a lot out of our one lesson. But I’m an adult with responsibilities, and I just can’t show up to appointments and have no one there to meet me.I don’t mean to sound like a Prima Donna, but I live 30 minutes for this place. So a round trip with a 30 minute lesson is 1 1/2 hours, all in. When the instructor didn’t show for an 11am lesson, I was told she’d be there at noon, but had 2 lessons back to back at that time, so she could see me at 1pm. Door to door, that 3 1/2 hours for a 30 minute lesson. And though I was able to cancel my lessons, I still need to contact someone else tomorrow in order to get a refund. A lot of things that are not my problem (I paid on time; I showed up on time) have suddenly become my problem. That’s not cool.Anyway, I hope they fix these issues. They have a lot going for them. They have great employees and wonderful instructors. Now they just have to avoid chasing people away because of bad scheduling software.
Must be an off day. Website said they had what I was looking for in stock. When I got there there was absolutely none in stock & no when they were getting more
We went to buy a new guitar for my daughter. She tried a few and the one she liked had a little scratch. There was no other available in store and they did insist on having a new one shipped to us instead of giving us a discount. Ok!5 days latter UPS delivers the guitar. BTW it is a Seagull guitar she had chosen. First the box is a Taylor box, with a Seagull inside! The right model. Actually the exact same she tried 5 days ago with the same scratch at the same place! No paperwork, no nothing in the box besides the guitar and wrapping paper.Really!!! 5 days to get the same guitar shipped from the same place! How come they ship used guitars from showrooms? How come they put a scratched guitar for shipping? Why is the guitar not in its original box with paperwork? They get one star for the full refund! The manager (or what they said was the highest ranked on site) did not really care about the story and tried to explain me why this is normal it happened!
