I have used These guys for 20 years on my boats, every time on every boat oldie or newer the knock it out of the park! On my way today with my sons first boat project right now and already know they will take this old find and have it running like a new one when we come back. Great Service!
Excellent service! I would highly recommend this place for any boat repair. Super nice super honest and completes the work fast.
Been here twice in the last few months. Once for normal maintenance and once for a repair. Both times the work was done well and quickly.
This guy is rude and I asked him to disconnect my power pole and do a tune up. I told him I was sending the boat out of the country and he knew it. Not only did he disconnect the power pole he disconnected the jack plate. Now it’s in another country and it’s messed up. Not only did he do that, he did a tune up, and supposedly never fired the Engine. How do you do a tune up and not start the engine??? I do not recommend this place. I was warned by another person but I gave him the benefit of the doubt, I got burned.
Darrell is the most honest & hard working person Ive ever known hell shoot you straight
I am remodeling a 1998 fishing boat. Schmidts has been very helpful with ideas and suggestions.
I have called this business with questions about problems with my motor and they were always ready to help. They even offered tips that I could do myself which most places would not do. I would recommend this business to anyone who has repairs beyond their abilities.
These guys have always taken care of my boats and their professionalism is top of the line. I drive nearly 100 miles one way for them to work on my boats and will continue to do so for the rest of my life.
Second review! My wife would not allow me to take the boat back to Schmidt following the previous two service visits and the poorly-running boat that ran fine before Schmidt touched it. I was previously charged $1,000 for a trailer boards, an impeller, and 3 spark plugs. The boat ran horrible after that so I took it back and was told I needed a fuel pump for $800. Upon further review with the new mechanic we find out that Schmidt did not replace the fuel pump but did charge me $800 saying they did!!!! My engine has three fuel pumps and they were all original according to the new boat guy. The whole problem ended up being a twisted fuel line right next to the squeeze bulb. A shiny new fuel line clamp was in place where one did not exist prior to me taking it to Schmidt. I had pulled the old one off to remove some gas from the gas tank and broke it. That means someone put a new one on my existing fuel line and twisted it on which twisted the clear liner in my fuel hose thus restricting fuel flow. After spending more money on fuel filter, fuel line, squeeze bulb and fuel system cleaning on an engine that did not need it my boat runs fine now. We have now used it three times with no problem except for the carpet that Schmidt put on the trailer bunk boards is now falling off from the poor installation and will have to be replaced before next use. I do not even know how this place is in business. Horrible work. Horrible customer service.
I share the sentiments of others who have commented here about being charged for work that never got done, and for being charged for work that didnt need to be done. In fact, when I went back to complain, the guy in line ahead of me was giving them an earful about how they charged HIM for work that never got done on HIS boat, and about being charged for work that didnt get done. To make matters worse, they didnt seem the least bit concerned or apologetic. If you have another option, use the other option.
I have taken my boat here twice and so far Daryl has been great and getting me back on the water quickly!
Dropped off a great running boat to have trailer work done. Talked into a tune-up and impeller on my outboard motor since neither had ever been done in 5 years. (Low Hours, boat in garage) Picked up the boat after work done and went straight to the lake. My boat had never run bad before but on this day it ran horrible. Could not maintain speed. Had to stop, idle then go again to get across lake. Took the boat back to Schmidt and my fuel pump needed to be replaced. Coincidence on timing I guess but not happy with the added repair expense when it was running great before. I was told that I should expect $300-$500/year and since I had never done anything to my boat that I was still ahead of the game. Huh? A storm was rolling in so I took the boat home after the fuel pump repair and put it in the garage. I decided to take the boat to the lake last weekend to test it out and found the following: The cooling water was running into the motor housing because the hose was not hooked to the port to make it run out. One of the two nuts for my lower unit was about to come off. The key was left on from being repaired and both batteries are now bad and have to be replaced. ($300). The trailer repair alone would be a 4-star job. I hopefully will have the batteries in and a non-raining week-end soon to see how it runs.
I’ve purchased parts while in a pinch from Schmidt boat repair, excellent and friendly customer service. Got my boat back up and running the same weekend!
These folks are great. Worked with Mercury to gain us a savings on parts. Would not consider another place after finding these people.
Great guy great service
Purchased a brand new Mercury 60 hp April 2016 which started running raggedly after 1.5 years. Still under warranty. Took to 2 different certified Mercury repair shops who kept the motor for long periods of time. Repairs were performed but they didnt correct my issues. Frustrated, I was going to sell the motor and purchase a new Yamaha when a service tech in the Houston area recommended Schmidt Repairs in Brenham where, after a week-and-a-half, repairs were completed and the repairs that were performed made sense to me (not like the others). Picked up last Friday, went fishing on Tuesday, and Im smiling again. Motor ran like brand new. Good Job Chad.
I have owned my 210 Monterrey over 20 years. After getting several quotes on repowering my boat my wife suggested that I check with Schmidt Boat Repair. I had previously lived in the area, and had good maintenece service from them. Long story short, Chad did a great job repowering the boat. They used as many peripheral components as possible, which helped keep the cost down. The boat was ready when promised,- I took it straight to the lake, and it RAN GREAT.
Best shop to repair my boat in Brenham. These guys know their stuff. Work fast dont good around and wont treat you like an idiot. I trust them with all my watercraft.
Good boat shop.
Awesome guy and really helpful
Scam.......Took my boat to them to have Bearings changed on the Trailer, and have the engine and boat Lake Ready, and replace old batteries. They called me and said it was ready, I asked if they had done the wheel bearings, the reply was Yes, drove all the way to brenham to pick up my boat.............bearings had not even been touched, and same old batteries in the compartment. The Old man who owns the place said they would get right on it, and if I had a couple of hours to hang around, which I did not. Still charged me regular price with a weak appology to go with it, like it was my fault. Fast forward a month later, get back to boat ramp after being on the lake and have a flat tire, change the tire and I notice the whole wheel is loose, take it to La Grange Tire shop, and they said nothing had been done, no grease in the hub, just new bearing covers???? I paid $400 for nothing. Then take it to another shop where they find out they had not even checked my prop shaft during the inspection, and of course it was bent(Not their fault an older boat)but you think they would of at least caught that. So then I call to ask about it, and they blow me off. I hate negativity but these guys stole $1000 dollars from me that I will never see again, and almost cost me a Boat...........Buyer Beware of this Operation at all cost!
Great service...
