This was our first time at the angry Italian and we had a really great experience! We got some beers and the classic deep dish pizza (added onions and peppers). They advertised taking 45 minutes to cook the deep dish and it came out in 40, so right on time. The pizza itself was a little less deep than we expected, but tasted great. One of our party was starting to get a migraine and the owner gave us some Tylenol which was much appreciated. We will definitely make the trek back to Bristol to enjoy the Angry Italian again!
Food was ok. I was hoping for a little better flair? Our waitress was so nice and very fast. The place is very nice inside. I would recommend a visit. I think I would pick a different meal next time to see if it had more flair!!
We enjoyed a delicious salad that was one of the best weve ever eaten. The tavern style pizza was very tasty with a thin, and crispy style crust. Our server was attentive and our drinks never went below half. Great place to enjoy a meal!
First time at this place! Good food if you have that taste for Italian food and salad this is the place to go. We had the salad cant recall the name but it was good. We had the traditional pizza that was awsome! Had a hard time finding parking but its well worth the aggravation considering where they are located. Very friendly staff I also had there cheese cake I was shocked when it came out. I took a pic of it.
Beautiful, very clean; and cozy environment.Friendly and talkative staff. Variety of great food....Chicago deep pan Pizza was excellent and harder to find in our region; but They have it here.Great place to dine out with family and friends in the downtown area also!Loved it.
Excellent salad and pizza. Dan, the bartender was super friendly and very attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want delicious Italian cuisines.
HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!First time there, and it was a horrible experience! We was assured our appetizer would be out before our entree, so we went ahead and ordered everything. Our food came out, and they said sorry our appetizers are backed up. We would have been happy to wait as we was excited to have the buffalo wings, however we wanted it before our entree! I had the spaghetti and meatballs, and it was awful! The spaghetti noodles was overcooked and mushy, the sauce was runny with barely any flavor. Our server never checked on us and asked how the food was, and I didnt eat mine it was so bad.At the end our server said sorry you didnt like your food and gave us the check.Wow really?-Not to mention the manager was stomping around upset at everything. She kept running in the kitchen with an attitude.
First visit here but Ill be back! Calamari was quite nice and the veal parm was spot on. Great service as well. Good job folks.
The food is really good. But the wait times are unreal. 2 pizzas and youre looking at 1.5 hours most of the time. I know it takes around 45-50 minutes to bake a deep dish pizza however it seems to take these guys double the time. The food is fantastic but make sure you have plenty of time to spend if youre choosing them for dinner tonight.
Loved the atmosphere. The inside of The Angry Italian is quite classy. We came in for lunch, having never been, and wanted to try a few simple things to get a taste of their food. A simple cheese pizza, to be able to really taste the crust and sauce, and a favorite of ours, Bruschetta. The Bruschetta was quite good, very fresh and simple, but flavorful. The pizza was decent. The crust firm, with a touch of sweetness. The sauce had a strong flavor of tomato paste, the seasoning was lost in it. We wanted to try the deep dish, but we didnt have the time. It clearly states 45 minutes or more to prepare and cook. Maybe Ill order it ahead and pick up. I also ordered a cannoli and I was very happy to see a ricotta based sweet filling! Most use cake icing. Overall, the menu had a good variety and our server was pleasant and attentive. Do try if you are looking for a local restaurant to support and want a good atmosphere with good variety and decent prices.
I got the hot Italian beef. This was an average size sandwich not huge. It came with a small side of fries. My only complaint is when I ask for ketchup for the fries they brought me a off-brand ketchup. It would have been much better if they had a better quality ketchup like Heinz Ketchup.
Great Italian cuisine that you can modify any dish to your liking. The service was absolutely amazing and our waitress Kaitlyn made sure my birthday dinner went flawlessly. She finished off my ravioli and Italian sausage dish and my wifes pasta Primavera with the best chocolate chip cookie dough cheese cake I have ever had! We enjoyed the dinner and would highly recommend this place to anyone.Oh and Kaitlyn told us she was in management training but she already has our vote for manager of the year! Be sure to put in a good word with the owner. 😉
There is a 45 minute wait on Chicago Deep Dish. This is per the menu. Its absolutely worth the wait. Try the stuffed mushrooms on the appetizer menu, theyre delicious. Some of the best homemade ranch dressing! They serve wine, beer, and mixed drinks. The owner is ranked 8th in the world for his pizza. Try it. Youll see why.
Ive been here multiple times and Im never disappointed. The food and atmosphere is amazing!
Food was great, spirits were good. Service was good. Portions were also good. Food was definitely made in store and not frozen.
I ordered a meatball apitizer, the meatballs were horrific. I also asked the server for a low carb meal and she recommended a chicken breast with mushrooms, it came with pasta noodles. It wasnt low carb at all. I could get better food at Fazolis.
The pizza is just the way you would expect Chicago Italian pizza to be, mouth watering. The pasta and appetizer, even more mouth watering. The bartender knows his stuff, my cocktail was thru the roof, literally the best mixed drink Ive had in a while. The staff are superb and makes the dining experience worth the wait.
The absolute best deep dish pizza Ive had in years! Had the sausage and pepperoni Chicago deep dish pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, and a ravioli appetizer. All the dishes were fantastic. The sauce was thicker than most with nice chunks of tomato and just the right amount of seasoning. The pizza crust was perfectly crisp and delicious. The ravioli was simply exquisite. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and didnt let your cup go dry. Restaurant was very clean. Be advised that the restaurant is on the small side, but seating is not crowded. Prices were good for high quality, freshly made Italian dishes. Simply put... if you want great Italian food just visit the Angry Italian.
An unexpected find with a variety of Italian dishes. We ordered the veal and it was lovely. Our waiter was a bit nervous and fast paced for our taste, but the overall staff was welcoming and friendly. They were out of two treat items that evening, so the front desk suggested we walk to a local bakery for our need for sweets. Love that the restaurant is founded on passion and has been there for so long, the interior is unexpected in a great way, with wide hallways and fun embossed tiles. :)
The food was really good and the service was friendly and quick. I had a party of 8 and they handled us with no problem. The manager even made sure to pour wine for the ladies. I would definitely be heading back and recommend checking them out if you want some great Italian food.
Wonderful experience and amazing food. Everything was brought out hot, fresh, and in a timely manner. Dog friendly patio is a plus too!
Ordered the Supreme half meat lovers...the pizza was horrible couldnt finish one small piece.. the bell peppers had been frozen or were from a can ...pizza was wet soggy...tasted like sugar...took the left overs home..even my ever hungry son couldnt eat it.. had to throw it away...the total cost for wasted pizza 100.00... we will never go back...
Lovely experience, our food was great, so was the service. The menu online was helpful and easy to navigate. All staff was incredibly friendly and our waitress was quick, efficient, and made our experience great. The food was good, strongly recommend the baked pasta. Jess was our waitress and we are happy she served us!
We’ve come to the area twice on vacation and have made The Angry Italian a family tradition! The food is excellent and the atmosphere is very accommodating for a large family. Most of all, the staff went above and beyond to help accommodate my son who has a severe allergy. Because of his allergy, we rarely ever go out to eat, but decided to try it with our extended family since we were on vacation. We had hoped to be able to order for him off of the menu, but after explaining the severity of his allergy, the manager came personally to let us know they could not safely accommodate him. She was very knowledgeable about the food prep precautions needed to avoid cross contamination with the allergen. She offered to give us dessert on the house since they couldn’t accommodate him. We then asked if they had a microwave we could use to heat a microwave dinner we had brought for our son in case. They didn’t have one in their kitchen, but were so kind as to give us the name of the person in charge of the restaurant next door who did have a microwave so our son could have a warm meal with us. What could have been a very disappointing time for our son ended up being a very enjoyable family dinner for all thanks to the wonderful staff going above and beyond!
We were visiting from New Jersey and decided to eat at the bar. Drinks were perfect and the food was fantastic. In fact, we ate here twice during our stay. Charlie, the bartender was pleasant to talk to and told us all about his farm and fawn. I left my purse hanging on the chair by accident when leaving and when I rounded the street corner in my car I saw the manager had run out onto the sidewalk to find me and return it. Good food and great people. Eat here!
Angry Italian has become my favorite Italian place. The food is always so delicious. The sauces and dressings taste scratch made. I have never been disappointed. I love introducing friends and family to this restaurant.
Dan was the bartender on this Monday and he was amazing! He andy husband talked about fly fishing! Great restaurant and top notch service! Thank you Dan!
Should not be able to eat a deep dish pizza with one hand. Flavor was OK at best. Ordered pepperoni and bacon, but yet no bacon found. Have had tons better pizza at Johnny Bruscoes. For 30+ dollars it should have been a helluva lot better. Will be my first and last visit.
Lets just say. ...now we know why the Italian is Angry. Premade pizza crust was simply terrible. I prefer Chef Boy R D hand made 100x over. The cheese was good. Sauce ok. Sad, we were really looking forward to trying it out, so we did, now done.
Classy restaurant and excellent waitstaff, Nick was perfect. I had a house salad, my companion had a pasta dish and enjoyed. I will have to try dinner there and see if its 4 star.Might I humbly suggest some rough red wine, crusty bread and olive oil?Stairs to enter.
Delicious food I ordered the frutti del mare or something like that in the white sauce and it was divine! Definitely check them out
Probably the best pizza ever ate really authentic Italian
Absolutely awesome service from Sarah S. We had the Mushrooms Formaggi as an appetizer, that were cheesy delicious. We had the Chicago style thin crust loaded with Mushrooms, Pepperoni, Italian Sausage and lots of cheese. Wow! Awesome and delicious. Well worth the visit.
We had great service - attentive and polite. The minestrone soup and the salads were great. Very pleasant ambiance on the patio overlooking the very quaint street.
Food was delicious and the staff is amazing! We will definitely go back. Everybody made us feel important from the time we walked in until we walked out the door.
Good was good. Almost like Chicago. Had the dipped beef which was good but the gravy was much easier than usual. The gravy was leaking through the plastic basket. It would help to dip the sandwiches and then wrap in sandwich paper... Just like Portillos! Meatball sub was good but the marinara was a little thick and spicy.
I’ve not yet gotten to eat here but I’m dying to! Being Illinois born and raised I love that this restaurant opened. They’re super slammed CONSTANTLY so getting food is hard. If that doesn’t convince you to eat here. I can guarantee you that it’s what you need in life and that any style Chicago food will leave you happy you tried it!
Service was on point (5 star)... but the food was NOT what I consider authentic Italian, especially for the price
We had an hour wait on our food and were sat at a wobbly table with 5 kids. We had to leave and we shared we had to go and were told in an unkind manner that what we ordered takes 45 min to prepare. We were just hungry for pizza on our weekend getaway. We stopped here before the long drive home. As we were leaving they said our pizza was ready. Out of kindness we paid for the pizza, and sadly they let us. Could not be more dissappointed in the service here and attitude of the management. Wish them the best, but we will not return here.
We stopped in here on our way back home to TN from VA Beach and are so glad we did! We chose the Meatball Appetizer...hands down the best Meatballs I have ever eaten. Our entree was the Baked Spaghetti..it was delicious! And for dessert, we chose the Cannolli...it was so good! Great service, friendly people...cannot say enough. We will definitely be back to try the Chicago style pizza, it looked amazing!
The most delicious pizza ever! We keep going back and have tried several menu items... pasta, pizza, and delicious desserts. You can’t go wrong with anything you order! And the deep dish really is worth the wait!
My friends talk this place up and got me real psyched about it as I love pizza. So the toppings are good the cheese is a good quality cheese but the crust is horrible Ill never eat this pizza again Im really glad that I didnt have to pay for this one. The dough is super dense and hard thats even when its hot when it is cold it is inedible unless you want to break teeth.
Excellent pizza, best Chicago pizza I have found in Tn. Great service also.
Love their deep dish pizza. Tonight I tried some shrimp and pasta. It was okay but just not great. I’ll stick with the pizza.
Absolutely fantastic food, great service, our waiter Nick was really cool and understanding on taking orders. Im from out of town and was visiting for the weekend. I noticed a tattoo he had (which meant alot to him), so I complemented and he was very happy to hear that I liked it. Highly recommend if staying in Bristol!!
We were very impressed with the food we ordered. The deep dish pizza is a true Chicago deep dish pizza. Good thick dough with a crunchy bottom, lots of cheese, and the sauce is fantastic. The meatballs are the best we ever had. The breadsticks are great and come with garlic sauce and marinara. The cannoli is authentic, fresh, and crunchy. Service was nice and attentive.
I’ve had deep dish in Chicago. This was not like that. It was like a super thick dough with some toppings and a smear of sauce. Expensive disappointment.
Service was friendly but spotty, food was not so good. I had eggplant rollatini that was completely overpowered by overcooked marinara (burned around the edges.) My husband said his lasagna was ok.
Amazing as always!!!Best thin crust pizza around! All the appetizers are great and they actually have ELIS Cheesecake from Chicago....delish! Did I talk about their cheese....Wisconsin cheese!!! You could just eat melted cheese!!Im from Chicago, If you like mushrooms and sausage try a thin crust with those toppings and ask them to sprinkle oregano on top then bake. 😊
The fam just ate there like others heard about all the hype. I love pizza, but the deep dish I had was um some issues. Tomatoes, cheese and chicken was good, but the crust was like a brick. I cook and make pizza from scratch, but wanted to try this deep dish. I would use there toppings on my crust lol. I dont mind paying $ if its good but I would not recommend this deep dish. It was like it did not rise and hard. Service was good, people nice
They were very busy when we were here. Despite that and what is clearly the same staffing issue we have all come to know, our meals were superb and the service was great
I got the $8 bruschetta appetizer, and it was literally 4 pieces of burnt toast with tomato chunks. I mean, they were solid burnt blocks of bread. The atmosphere is definitely classy though.
We got the Southsider pizza... DELICIOUS! Bread sticks were so yummy! Great friendly service! My husband doesnt even like pizza but we have been back a few times now. Definitely recommend!
The pizza is okay just not my favorite. Thin crust was better than thick in my opinion
Wanted to share my experience after seeing some negative reviews lately. I dined here last Friday and the food and service was really great! My mom and I ordered the deep dish pizza (well worth the wait) and enjoyed the fried ravioli appetizer (which came out shortly after we ordered). Our waitress was very kind and the atmosphere was lovely! I know waiting 45 minutes for a pizza isn’t for everyone but good deep dish pizza takes time!!
Very good food and very large portions for a great price
We ordered the classic deep dish and some of the cheese bread. All in all it was good except not a fan of the sauce, it seemed very salty.
Service could have been better and the food was mediocre at best. They wasnt even busy which made it even worse.
Food and service we absolutely wonderful! Cant wait to go back!
Other than waiting for about 45 minutes we put the order for our pizza pie so by the time we sat down it was ready this was a very busy restaurant if you can make a reservation or order ahead I’d recommend it this is the first time I’ve ever had Chicago style deep dish pizza and it was stellar. The crust is NOT overly thick like normal American pizza and had character to it. The sauce is very fresh juicy and succulent with pieces of tomatoes in it and the cheese was very good quality I had it two days later and it was even better the second time.
Eat pizza, Do NOT order the spaghetti! It was awful. I told my waitress who advised me that it only had speckles of meatballs in it not really meat....so why call it meat sauce. Also, it was greasy with very little tomato and absolutely NO FLAVOR. It was dry and TASTELESS. They offered no accommodation, only a box, twice. If I hate it when hot and fresh, I sure dont want it as leftovers! The salad was excellent and my husbands pizza was pretty good with thick fresh cheese. If not for the salad I would he rated them at a 1.
Nice place to eat. Delicious pizza
Pizza was good. although they charged me for toppings I didnt order.
We were referred to try this place and was told it was the best in town and we were not disappointed. Absolutely delicious deep dish pizza, antipasto salad and breadsticks. I highly encourage everyone visiting Bristol to check this place out. You will love it.
Service was great! The Smoked Chicken Tuscan Penne was yummy. We also ordered the Chicken Marsala which was quite different than what were used to, it was deep fried and greasy. This is the reason for the 3 stars. I bet if we were hungrier, we would have ordered the pizza, because it smelled amazing when we walked in- we just didnt wanna share something that big.
We went to have dinner with my in laws Monday evening, they had never been before. What could have been a bad experience, turned into a great customer service night. Many thanks to the Mgmt. team & our great server! We’ll be back!
Deep dish pizza is one of the few things I miss about Chicago, but thanks to The Angry Italian, I can get my deep dish fix right here. And this isnt settling for something less - the pizza here is just as good or better than almost all Chicago pizzerias (Lou Malnatis is still #1 in my heart). Everything else on the menu that I have tried, I like as well. All in all, a great Italian restaurant with fantastic pizza.
If your looking for Italian, then you wont be disappointed here. Their sauce is really good . The deep dish can take 45 plus minutes to make and there is no order ahead.
My wife and I drove over an hour and were very excited to try the classic deep dish pizza. I will say that the sauce and Italian sausage was tasty. But Neither one of us could get over how bad the crust was. It tasted exactly like the DIY crust packets you can buy at food city which is very disappointing considering this pizza is priced at $25. We was going to order some ranch dressing to try to mask the taste of the crust, but they wanted $2 per cup for the ranch
Being fair and honest hurts sometimes because I would love to give this place five stars the people are amazing, it’s a really cool eclectic place and the food and service are out of this world.... with the exception of one thing, The Italian beef sandwich. It’s a huge bummer because since red hots in Johnson City closed down a few years ago there’s nowhere to get a good Italian beef sandwich which is a staple in Chicago cuisine. Their Pizza is Chicago authentic and very, very good. I’ve had both the deep dish and the thin crust, both are outstanding but I’m a fan of the Lou Malnadi’s style deep dish and I would put it up against any of the finest I had in Chicago. I live in Johnson City but don’t mind the short drive to Bristol to visit The Angry Italian at all. With the exception of the Italian beef sandwich the food is as Chicago authentic and delicious as you’ll find anywhere outside the Windy City. I originally went for the Italian beef sandwich but we stay and keep going back because of everything else.
My wife and I was really excited to try this, but it was a disaster. It started ok, but our meal took an extended amount of time to get to us. Our waitress informed us she had not submitted it...When our food did arrive, my risotto was undercooked and my wifes frutti di mare was not palatable. They offered us free desert and to remove my wifes meal from the check. We where excited wanting to give them another chance, but when our bill arrived it was a bait and switch. We where charged for the dessert and her meal was only discounted, since she ate her breadstick...so yea, we wont be going back.
I must give this place 5 stars. The wait was a little long and we felt like giving up and going someplace else. So glad that we didnt. The deep dish pizza is right up there with the best in the Tri-Cities and probably the BEST deep dish anywhere. The toppings and cheese are plentiful and the sauce is very well made. If you are a fan of deep dish, you owe it to yourself to give this place a shot.
My eggplant was so hard that I couldn’t cut it with a knife, the meatballs tasted horrible, the sauce was super watery, and our pizza was hard as a rock. We wanted to love it.. we really did. We took our leftovers with us, but threw them away in the trash outside of the restaurant 😞
Didnt care for any thing they had.The pizza is not what I expected at all. And mother was the service.
We had the spaghetti, cheese pizza and the carbonara. The carbonara was awesome! Service was nice but scattered, but we can overlook the spotty service because all of the staff we interacted with were very nice, that goes a long way these days!We will be back to try more.
Service was nothing to brag about and food was decent. Very plain and boring decor.
This place did not live up to our expectations. The food portions were okay and The taste was okay but it seemed a little odd that you would buy an entree and it didnt include a salad or a side item. The bathrooms were extremely dirty as well. This restaurant moved into an old Macados building.
Amazing food and service. We had the deep dish pepperoni and sausage it was the best pizza I have eaten in a very long time. The desserts were great as well. Its definatley a great place to go.
Food was great! Service was excellent!
Pretty tasty and very nice waitresses customer satisfaction is big here
Absolutely one of the best eateries that I’ve ever been to. Italy, New York, and Boston would be impressed.
Ive only been once but it was a great experience! The people there were nice. The food was good and service was fast.
This used to be my favorite place in Bristol. Not so much anymore. They did away with the Chicago style dogs which was very disappointing. The roast beef I had a few weeks ago was just a bland mess. The bun was stale and not enough juices used. The fries smelled like wet dog. Our server was super friendly though. Im hoping it was just a bad visit, but so far Im not impressed since they moved to the new location. Sad.
Absolutely amazing food juicy and so full of flavor if yall open another try Charleston WV we need some food like this 🤤😁
If I could give more stars I would!!!!! The service was absolute top notch! The food was some of the best I have ever had. The meatballs WERE the best I ever tasted! The atmosphere was welcoming as well!
