I have a power of attorney for my Aunt who has dementia. They wont talk to me because she has to. Just to ask a minor question about billing.
My 92 year old mother tried cancelling her service and received a couple of harassing phone calls telling her why she shouldnt cancel. I live 2400 miles away from my mom and tried resolving the issue by phone. Each time I called I was told that the mailing label was sent. When I asked that it be emailed to me, it was but I could never open it. Dealing with this company was very stressful for me and my mom.
Had this service for my father (in his 90s) for over three years, paid everything on time. He now has full-time care, so we cancelled the service and sent the necklace device back to them. Its been four months, and the harassing phone-calls have been non-stop. Theyre trying to milk him / us for another three month period that we didnt pay for, because we didnt have the service. Do not use these guys -- they are rip-off artists of the highest order. Currently pursuing legal action against them. DO NOT USE THEM, EVER.
DO not under any circumstances use this company! Reporting to BBB. They take advantage of the elderly with their fraudulent billing practices. They acknowledge receipt of the returned equipment, and still bill our credit card! Gave a nonsense response of oh you need to call us 2 weeks after we receive the equipment to ensure your account is closed What? Question: under what circumstances would someone want the account opened after returning the equipment?This company needs to be put out of business! Shameful
What a horrible experience. Got this for my mother who does not live with us, requiring her and my sister to install. Salesperson sold heavily on simplicity of installation and great connectivity. He was difficult to reach during the sale, then disappeared after the sale. The customer service behind this product is worse than the product itself. Extended hold times to get to anyone about setup issues, billing inquiries, etc. how on EARTH can you operate a company that is supposed to respond quickly to seniors falling and the like if you cant pick up a phone in a reasonable amount of time? You cant. The installation was a NIGHTMARE, the first unit just screeched uncontrollably and scared the you know what out of my Mom. Second unit showed up and could not get connected. All the while they tried to get people to help them on the phone and wound up waiting on hold forever. They shipped a third unit but by that time I had contracted with Medical Guardian, who has a FAR better solution and OUTSTANDING customer service. I am still fighting to get my money back, the latest was that they still had not received all of the systems returned back to them so that they could not cancel, then a 30 minute hold time, THIRTY MINUTES, to speak to someone about cancelling my account. If you are getting this solution for a loved one, I beg you DO NOT USE THESE GUYS. Your loved one will be in big trouble, these people literally have no company behind the product, no support whatsoever, they will not respond to any calls, your loved one will be in big trouble. Pay the extra money for Medical Guardian, or check out any number of other highly rated companies and solutions. These folks are horrible, DO NOT USE MEDICAL ALERT.
Absolutely terrible . . .my credit card was declined on the service . .after trying to reach me, they called my mother who has mild dementia for authorization . .when I complained the guy said theres no way he could no she has mild dementia---you think the fact that the credit card is not in her name and that dementia is very likely in the elderly population might have given him a clue? He said, no. I told him that was very convenient for a company that mostly serves the elderly. Im not sure how they were able to get authorization from my mother for my credit card--I will be speaking to my credit card company. Then they said they would only give me half my money back. Ridiculous. Stay very very far away.
Terrible. Paid for 1 all year and when I had one emergency critical situation, it doesnt work. I had to call 911 for help. Another headache is for cancel the service. I am trying for three months.
Shocking and unprofessional behavior. we returned equipment 12 weeks ago and still fighting for the refund we are due. Multiple phone calls. Put off. They have all sorts of excuses but it is inexcusable. Dont give these people your business. They are horrible.
DO NOT USE THIS SERVCE! They have been billing my 88 year old mother for years knowing full well that she cancelled her service. Even had the nerve to charge $350 for equipment worth no more than $50 even if it wasnt obsolete.
I had the service for my mom. It is horrible and they charged additional fees that were never discussed. Watch your credit care a rude awakening.
The worst company I have ever dealt with. They were very convincing when it came to selling me the service for my mother. They indicated how on top of things there company is, and that I could rest assured that I would not be sorry if I signed my mother up for their service. Nothing could be farther from the truth. When I didn’t receive the unit in the mail in a timely fashion, I checked the FedEx tracking number, and it said it had already been delivered. I said to where, and they told me to a town 20 miles away. Here, Medical Alert sent it to someone else in another town 20 miles away. After contacting them and spending close to an hour on the phone on hold and talking to multiple people, I was told they had no idea why they sent it to another town, however, they were going to next day air another one out to me free of charge. Since this was on a Saturday, it would be going out on Monday first thing, and I would have it on Tuesday for sure. Tuesday came and by late afternoon, I still did not have it. I called and spoke to someone in customer service and he looked it up and told me that it was on a FedEx truck to be delivered that day. I never received the unit and called the next morning and another customer rep told me that the order was still still being processed (Remember it was supposed to go out first thing Monday morning). At this point I told them that I no longer had any interest in doing business with their company and wanted to cancel the service and wanted my money refunded immediately. They said they could not do that until they received the unit back that I had not received yet and that once I sent it back, I needed to call them to see if they received it. I have never heard of something so ridiculous. I told them I wanted my money back immediately and the rep said she did not have the authority to do that, however, she would talk to the level above her and call me back to let me know the out come. I never received a call. It is now Thursday and the unit has not arrived yet. I called again and they after looking it up, they told me that it was already delivered. Here, they delivered it to someone else in another town again. Again, I told them I wanted my card immediately credited. They elevated the call and told me it would be taken care of, and that I would get an e-mail confirmation. I still have not received the credit or any other confirmation. I am now going to contact the Better Business Bureau about this company. I would not trust anyone’s safety to this company, and their customer service reps are amongst the worst and most inefficient I have ever dealt with. If I could give a 0 star rating, that is what I would have given. Stay away from Medical Alert Company.
I would give no stars if possible. My mother had a stroke and I was informed that she needed to have 24 hour care. So I contacted them to cancel her service and see about returning the equipment. I look at my statement for Dec and see that they have billed me. When, I contacted them about this, they stated that they had received the equipment in Oct. However, I should have called and confirmed that I wanted to cancel the service to ensure that billing was stopped. They then told me it would be another 2-4 weeks to get my refund. None of this was told to me when I contacted them initially about needing to cancel. The address of where to send the equipment was confirmed.
Horrible. I sent the items back and they said yes they had received it. 1-month later said yes the package came but a piece was missing and I would need to pay $350. Then 1-week later said they had not received the items. Then I was harrassed with emails, phone calls and letters.I had the tracking numbers and they still denight getting. They prey on the elderly. They should be shut down.
Terrible customer service. My mother died over a year ago and i CANCELED her service then and Im still being billed for her service. I cant get any supervisor on the phone. I was placed on hold for over an hour. Never spoke to one. Run from them!!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!
After the death of my husband I returned the equipment and was told I would get a refund for the unused payment portion. First they required me to call back AFTER they actually received the equipment and started calculating the refund as of that date, not the date they received it.They said they sent a check but it never arrived. I have call multiple multiple times and have been told they would put a stop payment on the check and reissue it but it never happened. Today, 4 months later, they said they denied the last request for a reissued check because it was already sent. No one called to say it was denied, it was just denied,When I asked to speak to a supervisor they said that was not possible and that he could no say that anyone would call me back.As far as I can tell, the company is a scam. I would NOT recommend them.
If there was a listing below 1 I would have used it. Ive never dealt with more stupid people than is at this company. One hand doesnt know what the other one is doing. Been trying for over a year now to straighten out a bill and just keep getting put on hold or hung up on. Constantly getting bills from them even when they have been pulling from the credit card and then telling me they didnt receive it. Had to cancel it. Sent checks they said they never got even though the bank credited us 4 times from them. Just dont deal with these people. It will become your worst nightmare.
Signing up and using the equipment was ok. Cancelling the account has too many hoops. Mom passed away and trying to cancel the account was not user friendly. They will only cancel AFTER the customer ships the equipment back AND they verify it has been checked in. I used USPS and it cost $23. USPS notified me that it was delivered so I called. Medical Alert said “it wasn’t scanned in yet”. So moms account was still open unless I could provide a tracking number. I called back with the number and they will send a refund to moms debit card in 30 days. Guess what - moms card was cancelled when she passed.
I could have died because of the down right stupidity of these people. I needed them when I stopped breathing and they had my address in another town and kept asking me questions instead of getting an ambulance to me. First off, my parents got this for me because when I stop breathing, I cant talk. Its the main thing discussed with them. If no answer when I call for them, send ambulance immediately. It was a terrifying experience for me. I called and canceled my service. They still charged $249 trying to say my mom is behind on the payments. My mom has been paying them for years and the one time I really need them, they totally screw up and I almost died.
$19.95 is really $165! Cancellations are like pulling teeth and when they say 2 months free they charged doubled for 4 months! Im an honest person and will not be scammed by this co. Again!
I worked to return the product to get refunded the auto billed amount for a second year. I waited on hold for 28 minutes on my second phone call, 11 days after sending the shipment back with their label. They had not received it yet from FedEx. They insisted that I had to call back a third time and wait on hold after it arrived in order to receive a refund. They would not issue a refund with the return of the equipment. This was company policy that the rep had to follow and a manger was not present to speak with.
Caution!!! This company is only nice when you are signing up for their service. They are rude and unhelpful when you are trying to send their product back. They try to delay the return to continue charging you. I am going to file a complaint with the FTC.
DONT USE THIS COMANY!LOOK AT OTHER REVIEWS....Returned Equipment in Oct. 21 2018. Followed up with a call to assure Equipment was received and service was cancelled.Was told Equipment was received, service was cancelled and a refund will be sent within 25 business days.Dec 28 2018, havent received a refund. Called again, billing customer service said a refund request wasnt generated ( An internal company process), customers have no input or access to this process... soI guess refunds are not expected after you turn in your equipment and cancel the service.Shady operation
Worst customer service. All they care about is their money! My mom went into the hospital in February and I canceled the service. They still continued to bill me, which I didnt catch until August. They got me for $269.85! I had to call and cancel my credit card so they could not charge me anymore! Its now October and I still havent gotten this fixed!
Terrible company with horrible customer service. My father prepaid for an entire year and passed away with over 6 months remaining on the prepayment. I did not even know who the device was with but when they sent me a renewal bill 6 months later, I called to tell them he had passed and asked for a pro-rated refund. They told me to send the unit back which I did immediately. After many months of back and forth, they now tell me no refund since we did not return the unit until after the prepayment period (1 year) was over. Even though the unit was obviously not used (I took it from my father when he went to the hospital), we still essentially paid for 6 months of use after he passed away. Very compassionate company....NOT.
This company will gladly answer their phones promptly when you are signing up and they are taking your money but you will NEVER GET THEM ON THE PHONE AFTER THAT. You have been warned.
What a scam this is opportunist of the sick and elderly. Purchased this for relative, returned not being utilized, returning was a long process Never again for myself or family. Put faith in God not Man.
Horrible Company. Customer Service is the worst I have ever received. They are supposed to be taking care of our elderly and shouldnt be trusted with that! Billed my credit card before I received a bill, all they care about is the paycheck! Ive spent hours on the phone to try and resolve this only to be yelled at by managers! They keep transfer me to different departmarts. I asked for a return label to be sent to me so I could return the device they sent me. First the billing department said they would send it, this was July of 2016. Then I received a call from the billing department, I told them I was never sent a lable, they transfered me to customer service and they said they would send a lable, this was in January 2018, they said it would take about a week to receive the lable. The billing department also said to wait 5 days after I returned it and call them. The following week I never received the lable, but I got a letter dated January 11, 2018 saying I was pass due on my payment. I been wanting to return the merchandise but they keep rerouting me to different a department or a different person every timeI call. All theyre doing is stalling me so they can get more money. Its a crime and my husband and i are senor citizens on a fixed-income who cant afford this because of my husbands medical issues. I dont recommend their service.

Absolute thieves, there service does not work with our network provider in our area . This was after they said it would work . So we canceled and there still billing us for service . Thieves thieves thieves stay way clear of them
