If youre into model trains, what is there not too like! Choices galore and a staff that is both avid and knowledgeable about the hobby, from novice (I am barely novice) to advanced youre in capable hands at the Train Shack. Not only am I intrigued but my tribe of four finds the shop equally enchanting. One of the last true hobbyist-centered shops in Southern California, this place is a jewel! Plenty of street parking out front, theres plenty of free parking behind the shop, too.

What a great shop! Staff were super friendly and helpful. Went looking for wooden trains (eh, for the kids of course 😉) and ended up wandering around the entire store looking at all the various trains and accessories they had to offer. They had a small but cool spot with tables for the kids to play with the trains. Would have loved a store like this when I was a kid and visiting here brought back so many memories of playing with model trains when I was a younger. Will definitely return.

My son, who has been obsessed with trains since he was a baby, has been asking for a model train. We Google any possible options near by, came across Train Shack. A lady ( forgot her name) at the store was able to help us with a starter kit & a model train. Great customer service!! Well definitely be back.

Its a well stocked model train shop with a good selection of items, prices are full retail but still a great place to stop and find hard to get items.

Largest selection of Brio Ive seen, thats including online stores. They have almost everything currently out. Trains for all ages, from toddlers to adults. They have an entire section for kids trains, which included some books. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Private lot.

I will admit I do not have a model train hobby, but going in here makes me want to start. Everyone who works here is so incredibly friendly, I really enjoyed the time spent in this store. So glad I happened upon this place.

Great store but when I went in I found many thing to be way overpriced and when I talked to my friend about the prices and how you could get a way better deal online the guy working there came over and got mad at me for saying his prices were high and told me to be careful what you buy online. I understand what he was saying but it came off very rude.

The best place to buy all your hobby train stuff! The have everything you need for any scale trains. They carry N, HO, O, Lionel & LGB (G) scale trains, track, scenery, tools & anything else you can think of! They staff is very friendly & helpful with any questions you might have. They also do repairs so its the perfect place to do your train shopping. Highly recommend for everyone!

Great place! Was making D&D miniature scenery and needed LEDs for a fireplace. They set me up with everything I needed and were super helpful. Going back for some moss/grass later cause it looks like they have a ton of options there!

Shopping this store over 30 years. Brian and Mindy the owner are great. They back what they sell. If you need repairs this is the place. Reasonable and done correctly. John does the repairs and know what he is doing. Todd, Mike and Jeff the sales team are helpful and friendly.

I was waiting for a haircut next door and wandered in. What a fantastic model train shop! The place had the feel of the hobby shops I loved as a kid, but are now being replaced by soulless online shopping sites.The Train Shack has both new and used trains, tracks and setting pieces for all the different scales. Very impressed with the variety of selections.Only bought a O-scale magazine to send to my nephew, who recently got into train modeling. Hes going to be blown away when he visits!Also the guy working there (owner?) was super friendly, even though I obviously wasnt a collector.

I love this store, I come here to find what ever weird RPG book I need or any kitchy gifts for almost any occasion. A fun store the employees are cool, a few became some of my best friends (they no longer work there) But I still have I warm fuzzy spot in my heart for this great place.

Nice little Model Train Shop, they have a decent amount of woodland scenics products, good amount of rolling stock and ho scale vehicles as well, employees are friendly too, its worth to stop and check it out.

The train shack is fantastic. They have a freindly, knowledgeable staff who are extremely helpful. It is perfect for beginer to advanced train enthusiasts, and a variety of trains, accessories, books for all sizes.

ABSOLUTELY a joy to go to. We went for the first time today. Hung out for almost 2 hours with our kids. They were extremely helpful. I was able to update my set that I have had for over 30 years and purchase a new polar express set.We will be back!!!!!!!

Its where even adults can be a kid! Amazing store with everything train-related you could ever think of! They also have a little kids area for the little ones to play with wooden trains and tracks.

I’ve been coming to this incredible store for most of my life. Maybe the most knowledgeable staff you will find on model railroading. These guys clearly live and breath trains and it’s beautiful to see family owned business that is so passionate. Great selection of new and vintage Lionel. GREAT Postwar and 1950’s selection as well. I️ highly recommend checking this place out.

My husband and I LOVE this store! He grew up going to the store regularly and having many model trains. I was new to this whole “train” thing, but ever since my first visit to the Train Shack, I truly enjoy setting up my train layouts, running different engines, and decorating with accessories. I left with a wonderful Christmas train set the very first time I visited the store.The staff are wonderful! Not only competent and helpful, they are also very friendly, genuine, personable, and caring - they feel like our family! I’ve been to the store so many time, but I still find new items/interesting details every time I visit. The staff remember what I have in my train layout and their recommendations are catered to my budget, scale, and train set - always recommend the perfect piece which makes my layout even more realistic. Train Shack is so fun! I cant remember the last time I was in a model train shop, and I dont know why its been so long. Its. So. Fun.They have sooooo much stuff! I didnt realize there were several size scales and really enjoyed looking at all the different miniatures available. Several trains are running around the shop and my kid loved looking at them and searching the scenes for details. The area for kid train stuff is super fun with 2 train tables and tons of trains our for the littles to try out and be entertained.I loved being here. The folks working are super helpful and friendly, even for me: the mom obsessed with miniatures for no relevant reason and having no model train knowledge but a kid who wants to play with all the trains.Eleven stars.And theres PARKING.

Wonderful train store with a friendly and attentive staff. The place has all the model train accessories you could ask for with a wide variety scales and items from an assortment of manufacturers. I went for terrain materials for my miniature modeling and dioramas and found a wide selection of woodland scenics, noch, JTT and others.This is a great little place and my kids had a wonderful time looking around at all the models. They even have a a train running and the store on the ceiling .

Fun little shop. They are big on O scale, good selection of G scale vs the surrounding areas. Whats great is they are the only train store it seems on the west coast with a proper decent website that you can order off of. Seems like everyone else has failed to keep up with the times. Nice staff, clean store, fair prices. Great used selection again something you will not find in the area.

My husband and I have been coming to this train shop since we were dating about 14 yrs. we used to come here and buy trains for his collections. Now with our newborn baby we hope this place is still around to encourage, motivate and to love this hobbie. This is a hobbie not a lot of children follow now in days. due to our sad changing society.

Everyone who works there has considerable knowledge about everything trains, theyre Johnny on the spot helpful, and most of them have a hilarious, dry sense of humor (love these folks!). Plus their inventory is exceptionally deep for their square footage.

Now that some of the few real train stores left in LA are gone, it is one more reason to cherish this one. Competent, nice service, and often updated selections. Strongly recommend it.
