Ive been relying on Common Deer for years now to supply me with silly + sweet cards for all kinds of special occasions, with gifts for my family when holidays approach, and with goodies to treat myself when I find myself in need of a bit of indulgence! The staff are always keen to help, roaming about with a watchful eye to ensure I have all the sizes/scents/designs I might want for any given product and to rescue me if my hands are full as I browse. Questions are answered cheerfully and quickly with evidently overflowing knowledge on product lines, and the shop emphasizes + celebrates in many ways the support that my shopping extends to talented, passionate makers across the USA and to delightful lil businesses here in my own state of Vermont! I enter confident that Ill find treasures Id never find elsewhere, and I always leave with a smile on my face—and often a candle I couldnt resist!

I adore this store! Such a wonderful selection, carefully curated, with lots of unique items. I’ve come here for gifts, wall art, tee shirts, and cards; the owner and employees are all incredibly helpful and friendly. It’s the perfect gift shop for people who usually don’t like gift shops.

Although a great shop and looks beautiful, be prepared to be followed around by the employees every step of the way. They watch you like a hawk and I felt uncomfortable being in the store and that if I moved my hands from my sides to pick something up they made sure you put it back down. I understand they’re trying to protect the business but there’s a line between making your customers feel uncomfortable and making them feel welcome and not like a thief.

I cant walk by without popping in due to their ever changing rotation of cool cute and interesting goods, and all made in the USA! I especially like seeing what they home from local Craftsman and makers. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff as well.

This is a nice shop with all kinds of things. Great for browsing. A lot of the items are made by local artisans. They carry Farmhouse Pottery. The staff is very helpful... read: multiple people will come up to you to ask if you have any questions and tell you about whatever sale theyre running. I personally dont like that much attention while Im shopping but its still a nice place to browse.

The most wonderful products (all made by local and domestic artisans!) and sweet staff that supports makers and women-owned businesses. This is the best place to pick up thoughtful gifts and the card selection to accompany those gifts is excellent.

Hello, thanks for reaching out! I really love and appreciate the mission and relationship of the items associated with the store. Really, there was 1 employee who I thought was a little impatient and asked intently that I ask to see anything in the glass cases. The way it came out and her facial expression made me feel like I didnt belong in the store, that I was suspicious and not necessarily serious about buying anything. Kinda felt like I being followed or looked after. I am a POC in a store full of white folks and I dont recall her talking to others like that. She seemed a little irritated (it was a busy day). The other employees were super polite and patient with me. I was surprised as no one else responded to me in such a way. Otherwise, it was a great experience and I would love to support you all, but I dont know if I would return if I run into that employee again. I bumped it to a four star since that was really the only issue.

Really neat store with tons of locally made items to purchase. Its the perfect spot to get very nice gifts and housewares, as well as clothing, jewelry, cards, art prints, etc. Definitely check it out if youre downtown!

My husband and I stopped in Burlington one afternoon on our way to New York. I saw this store on the drive and told my husband that we HAD to go back and check it out. Im so glad that we did. Great store, great American made products, super friendly store associate and to boot, she let my golden retriever come into the store to escape the heat! I love the products that I bought and will definitely look to the Common Deer for future gifts..and self indulgences! ;)

My favorite new find. I had a few last minute Christmas presents to buy, and I am so glad I happened upon this store. It is charming and the people who work here are helpful and friendly. The merchandise is carefully chosen and I will definitely be back next time I have to get a gift for someone.

This is a great store with many unique, made in the USA items. Common Deer offers a different range of products than what most other VT shops are selling. Its a nice lil gift shop over priced. The waxed canvas day ruck sacks are $500+ when you can buy the same bag online for $200 or less. Wool blankets $120+ smh really? Again can get same item online for $60-$80...

If you want products made in the USA this is the store for you! Love how this store supports and sources as many of its products as locally as possible.
