Even though we did not end up doing business with CCH, I would like to commend Jacklyn Ellis for her friendly and great service. I would give her 5 stars for exceptional service.

The sales lady no longer works there but she was really cool and honest. For some reason she felt like we were familiar enough to, I like that. I hope she is well. The homes are nice, not all are modular though. If you are unfamiliar with home building, things to know 1. Every builder has issues 2. Every nuisance is not a deal breaker 3. Get your own home warranty, I prefer maintenance contracts for all systems from respectable outfits 4. When subs are working, you need to have someone you know inspect the work 5. Land clearing/prep don’t forget to talk about drainage 6. If going with concrete drive, if can afford get your own 7. Let the home builders do just that build your home 8. Best to purchase your own land 9. Stress is normal 10. Have fun and ask questionsWe have not built yet but between this company and value build homes, price would be the only differential. God bless

My wife and I are beginning our research of modular homes to see if they are the right choice for us in the current insanity that is the current housing market.Shields McKeown, yes thats his real name, and no he is not an 80s era action star, was extremely helpful and patient while we asked our very long list of questions, not only about the houses themselves but the entire process from start to finish.Shields was incredibly knowledgeable and at no time was he pushing to sell us anything. He simply provided us answers and insights, which was greatly appreciated.If you are in the market for a home and the current market has you going crazy, maybe a modular home is something to check into. If you do, Shields at CCH wont steer you wrong or pressure you with any sales pitches.Worth your time to stop in and check them out.

Went in to look at a modular and fell in love with everything about it. You have to check in at office to view homes. At this particular time everyone was busy so I left out. Went out to look thru windows and salesman came out and let me in to see home. He could not have been any nicer. Loved the floorplan and the overall construction. This would be a company that I feel has well built homes and would consider buying from in the future.

We went to this company to have a home built when it appeared that the contract on a house we were attempting to purchase was going to fall through for title issues. This group was extremely patient, professional, and immediately responsive as we began to select the home to build. We were able to modify the home to meet our specific needs. Love our home from Carolina Custom Homes!! We were very hesitant to build because we did not want to deal with the stress that comes with the process. But, after months of looking for houses on the market and not finding what we needed, we decided to look at modular homes. We went to multiple modular home companies across the state before we chose Carolina Custom Homes. That choice was not made just because they were the closest to the area we wanted, but the quality we saw in the models. We had an unusual situation where our house had already sold so we lived on the site while the modular was being built. It was awesome to be able to watch the progress!! It was also amazing that it was completed in record time, under 4 months!! Jacklyn was great with helping us pick the right floor plan. Andy was easy to work with on the logistics/business end and Tyler was great at keeping us informed during the whole process. Everyone was always quick to respond to any communication we needed. Every single contractor/employee that we encountered was always professional and personable. We have no complaints and can be somewhat critical because my father was a home improvement contractor. Our new home is complete just in time for Thanksgiving! We are thankful to Carolina Custom Homes of Burlington for all their hard work on this project. We seen all the good reviews online and felt confident in our choice as them as our new home builder. We first met with Karri who did an excellent job explaining the process and different builder packages along with playing around with us on the computer with different floor plan ideas. We later came back to begin the building process and met with Andy who helped us through the entire building process from start to finish, and even afterward.

Free is the last thing I want! Integrity however is something I demand! Had I known of your husband’s propensity for fraud prior to signing the contract I would have never given your company my business. I spoke with your husband more times than I can count during my first year of occupancy. I also spoke with Paul. None of my concerns were ever heard or attended to. My goal here is to warn all others of your entire companies lack of integrity, morals or dedication to quality. All you can do is deflect how absolutely inept, corrupt and unconcerned you all become once the money is in your hand. I see you are still right in line with swindling honest hard working people out of their money. Do better!Before you buy from this company look up Andy Mckeown. He was involved in a multi million dollar mortgage and consumer fraud scheme. He was also charged, all of this is public record. He lacks a moral compass. Also know he will have you sign stating you cannot bring litigation against him prior to building for you.I bought my home from NC custom modular homes in 2016. During the first year of owning my home two out of the plethora of items on my punch list were completed. They would not respond to requests or communicate when they had contractors coming out. One instance is when they sent a group out that had a white van and trailer. No one communicated with me that they would be there and I was a woman home alone. There was nothing identifying on the van to say they were working for NC custom homes.I am on the third septic tank pump, those should last 10-15 years. My insulation in the attic is approximately 5 inches from the rafters and completely absent over my daughters bedroom. I have to replace the flooring in the entire home as it is warped an buckling up. When speaking to Mr. McKeown today he claims I have never brought any concerns to him until five years later. This is false. Listed above are only a few of the problems with my home.

House was finished in good time considering distance from Burlington and weather. All staff were friendly and helpful and most of the issues with our house were resolved/repaired relatively quickly.

We started the process of building our new home April 2019 with Carolina Custom Homes after going to and walking through other modular builders. Kerri gave us a walk through of all the display homes and explained standard features and common upgrades most people go with and explained there process of building homes. We made the decision to choose Carolina Custom Homes over the others we went to because everyone was very welcoming and even early in the process before we had committed to building with them they were very helpful and patient. We really liked the Sparta they had on display but wanted to make changes to the floor plan and Kerri helped us adjust the floor plan so we could get everything we wanted. Once we had the floor plan set and financing worked out we meet with Andy choose our flooring, cabinets, counter tops and other features. Once the onsite building began I meet with Paul who was very easy to work with and would explain any questions I may have had. Tyler emailed us every week about what work was being done and what was scheduled to start the upcoming week. If I ever had a question I would send a quick email to him and either him, Paul or Andy would respond within a few hours. After the house was set and most of the work was done I did our first walk through of the home and only found a few minor things that required fixing all of which were done and looked really nice when complete. The final walk through was with Andy and he found a few things the needed to be touched up of adjusted that I hadnt noticed, I felt like he really wanted to ensure the home was above and beyond what even we were expecting at the end and he and the rest of his team have a real attention to detail. Over all we were extremely happy with Carolina Custom Homes and the whole process and glad we choose to build with them.

The lady that showed us around was terribly rude. When we sat down to talk pricing, she asked for $500 up front before discussing literally anything. In addition, we were told that the homes are not painted on the interior and that the homeowner would be responsible for that piece. We ended up building a custom home for less than a modular. Thanks for the reply sir. Youre right...i literally took time to make all of this up just to post a bad review. Smh

We initially looked at stock built but the cost at this time is way too high.We paid the deposit and they did a quote that was reasonable for us on our land.Unfortunately for them, we had previously made an offer on a home that was rejected but the owners came back to us and accepted. We had made them aware of our situation prior to starting any process with them.We received our deposit back from them as they stated. No issues and good to work with.

Although we are not in their build area, they let us come down from Asheville to look at the Greenbriar house they have on their lot because our modular home builder doesnt have one to look at. June was very nice and even talked to me about changing the designs of the homes. I would use them to build our home if I could but we are too far away.

This company deserves more than five stars! The process was very smooth and fast. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and are not like your typical sales person. The construction managers kept us up to date on the build and would answer any question we had within reasonable time. Would recommend to everyone!!

Weve been in our home 7 years. In the past two months weve had the electric stove top and the water heater both almost burn our 3400 sq ft home down from faulty wiring! Its extremely frustrating! We had problems from the time we started building with this company. They promised us this that they didnt follow through on. A year after being in our house our master garden tub started chipping! Guess what nothing they could do. The guy that painted our house couldnt paint a straight line if his life depended on it. The flooring is cut too short under my island in the kitchen and they just left it. There is far too many problems too list. Your welcome to visit mine to see why not to build with this builder. They talk a good game. What you get is not what you think your getting.

My wife and I love our floor plan of our modular house! However we had several issues during construction and the longer weve lived in our house the more issues I keep finding. Communication was poor during construction especially when they were drilling my well, they went way over our well budget with limited communication. The floor insulation is the wrong R-value in some places and in others its completely missing! I found two huge holes in my sub-floor under both tubs, from the crawlspace I could see into my HOUSE! My attic insulation is at 5.5 inches which is way below code and I paid for R-30 (13 inches). Lastly we paid for the Energy Star Certification and our house is FAR from meeting the Energy Star for homes Mandatory items. Somehow they did some shady work and somehow certified the house, at least on paper. All major issues were brought up with this builder but the most recent discoveries were not addressed. I am a builder consultant who specializes in energy efficient building, please investigate your modular to see if you have similar issues and if you havent already starting building with this company I would highly recommend finding another builder if you want higher quality and to get what you actually paid for!

They will take advantage of out of town buyers. The land wasnt granted correctly or at all. They call 4 inches of standing water a moisture issue but do nothing to help dry it up. The buyers were told 6 month turn key but yet they are not in their new home and it doesnt look like it will be anytime soon. All they did was trust this company and they are being shafted

My daughter and I purchased our home from you and we moved in January 10th! When we 1st looked at the houses on the lot, we had the privilege of Ms. June showing us around. I really didnt want to stop & look but my daughter was very persistent so we stopped. I had my mind set on purchasing a home from Yates. It was like 30 minutes b4 they closed but Ms. June said it didnt matter she was happy to show us around. The 1st house she showed is was the Arlington! We fell in love with it!! We went and seen the rest but the Arlington was our favorite!! We sat down & went over everything we wanted & didnt want. She was so helpful & kind. Our home is beautiful!! Our experience with Carolina Custome Homes has been wonderful! You ALL are very nice & friendly!! Im glad to be stuck in my home with this virus going around! I couldnt be more happy anywhere!! My wife and I walked into Carolina Custom Homes thinking they would be just like every other place we had visited. Nothing could be further from the truth. All of our questions were answered on the spot by a very knowledgeable associate. They dont have the pushy type of sales staff that tell you whatever you want to hear. They tell you what will work and what will not work. They have so many floor plans that you will definitely find one you love. They gave us a reasonable time frame for all the work and beat it by 30 days! All the inspections passed throughout the whole process. Any work that wasnt up to our standards was quickly resolved. Would recommend Carolina Custom Homes to anyone looking for a new home.

By far the best part of our home buying experience! Even when things needed to be moved up because of other parties poor planning they did their best to accommodate and facilitate moving their end of the process forward I cannot wait to close on the house and finally move in.

We just started the building process with this company. We feel very comfortable with all of the staff, especially Andy and June. Every time I call I always get a call back with an answer. There have been no hidden costs and we understand that building a home takes patience and trust and we have both in Carolina Custom Homes Of Burlington.

We decided to build with this company because initially they were responsive however, as time went on it became harder and harder to get answers or to talk to someone. Construction was set to begin in October and wasn’t even attempted to start until the end of January. We were told we would be in our house by March, then April, then May then finally in June we were able to move in.Now that we are here that pitch they give you that “we use good quality stuff in our houses, bull!!! They never re aligned our windows and doors. Half our doors don’t shut and latch. There were nails under the laminate flooring that poke up and throw (that were never nailed in) there are nails sticking through the carpet around the entire perimeter Of the house, we have had to have the electricians and HVAC techs out multiple times in just 9 months of being here. etc. etc.Once they had closed on our house and they had their money any help what so ever with repairs or contacts was/is 100% nonexistent. They give you the run around on everything.Needless to say if I could go back in time knowing what I know now I would absolutely NOT do business with them again.

When we initially scheduled to visit the homes on the lot we spoke with Karri Anderson. Man when she told us those homes were customizable to fit our needs, then assisted us with the changes we knew this was our last stop. I enjoyed my time with the folks at carolina custom homes. Karri helped me and my boyfriend pick the design for our modular home. Andy and Paul were nice as well. The only reason Im giving them 3 stars is because we had a home inspection done at your house before we closed. The home inspector noticed some holes in the roof from the siding installation. They said they would fix the holes but never did.

We found Andy & June after our other custom modular homes in Ashbore took forever. Andy and June was very friend. They was quick to respond and great to work with. Dont look any further give Andy a call.

We really wanted to give CCH 5 stars, but the end, the experience grew more and more frustrating and while we recognize no build is perfect and delays/issues arise, we ended our build highly unsatisfied. After some time to reflect on our house build earlier this year, there are a few areas from this experience that left us disappointed with how the build went:Managing requirements: There were many times we kept asking for a feature to be included (i.e., hard wood floors in the study) that were not getting included, and other features (driveway allowance) that we kept asking to be removed that kept getting included. Most of these were remedied in the end, except a standard energy efficiency features we asked for that was a standard features for our build level (LP Techshield for the Signature Series) that for some reason they removed. We even asked for it in writing, and it still got missed. The use of technology to manage requirements at CCH is very substandard. If you decide to use CCH, please be sure to review everything in great detail. Also, they make you sign a waiver not to sue them for any issues. With the LP Techshield feature they missed, we would have sued in small claims court, but waived our right.Managing expectations: There were a few times we would agree with CCH team on how we wanted an install to occur (i.e., placement of the new water line), only for the sub-contractor to show up and do it their way. We would get a lot of placating statements from CCH staff that things like this would get taken care of, then it wouldnt (another example is the final placement of the water tank). It seems their business is so good (credit to them) that they are not properly staffed to manage all of their build projects at once. One area with our build that was out of CCHs control to some degree was the wrong siding getting shipped from the builder and installed, which caused a one month delay in the build schedule. The gutters went on before the siding was finished, then had to be removed and some of them sat on the ground for weeks (some got damaged and had to be replaced). Again, this was more on the builder (Nationwide) than CCH, but could and should have been avoided.In closing, the people at CCH are very friendly and aim to provide quality home building experience. Some of the frustration was unavoidable as there is with any home building experience (delays due to sub-contractor schedules, weather, etc…). Some of it was avoidable left us with lingering disappointment as we concluded the home build.

Sorry that I got involved with them. Slowest job I have ever been on. As a plumber for almost 30 years, I was asked by a friend to hook up the pipes in crawl space. I went by and looked to see what I needed to find that most of the fixtures had not been set, so I waited for 3 months before they were ready to hookup. They still did not have one of the toilets and the kitchen sink was not even there yet. So I waited another 2 weeks. They (Carolina custom homes) asked if I would hook it up and pipe it. So I did with out reimbursement trying to get my friends in the house. That was in October and they are still not in the house. Still to many small repairs need to be done before they can. By the way they finally got the dishwasher there and want me to come back and hook it up. Without pay I’m sure. Not recommended them to no one.

Although we did not purchase a home from CCH, we felt we had to leave a review bragging about one of its employees. Karri was, hands-down, one of the most friendly and knowledgeable design specialist we couldve hoped for. She took the time to go over our ideas and even made some great suggestions (shes very trendy). You can tell she enjoys what she does and she wants you to enjoy the experience of building a new home. Karri, we wish you the best and thank you for the time you took with us!

Our home was built in 2013, and we still love it! Andy and the team were great through the whole process.

If you ever want your house to be built, stay away from this builder. They are very bad at managing everything. We signed contract the first of April, the house is still far from being done, and this is a small house. When you call to ask question, all they do are bunch of lies. They give you every excuses they can think of.
