I was looking for a specific length and width of steel for a project but wasnt sure of what thickness my welder could do. I had just purchased a welder and was self teaching (aka a bunch of reading websites and watching YouTube videos) myself to weld so Ive never really dealt with anything in this field, so I was a little worried about looking foolish. After searching all over the interweb for steel that I needed and finding outrages prices, I was told to go into Alro Steel here in Cadillac. I was hesitant because although Ive heard of the name before, I always thought it was only for commercial type of customers. I was pleasantly surprised with how I was greeted and approached once I went into their front office and explained to them what I was looking for. They not only went over the different types of steel, but the different thicknesses too. They told me they have a big section of left over material from other jobs that I was more than welcome to pick through and that if I did find something that matched what I was looking for, it was .90 a lb to buy it. With the help of an awesome warehouse employee I was able to find what I was looking for. This review has gone on long enough so Ill cut it off here soon but I cant say enough good things about Alro and the way they treated me, especially the warehouse guy who gave me alot of tips and advice about the project I was working on, as well as starting out as a new welder. I look forward to doing business with them again
I searched all over online trying to find somewhere to buy some stainless steel angle iron, and I could not find it anywhere for a reasonable price. I called Alro, and they let me know they had some on there Drop Rack I could look at. So I went to found it was almost exactly what I needed, since I needed under 20 foot, and it cost less then half the price. Great helpful store.
Not a cheap place for a blacksmith, but theyve got the goods! The guys behind the desk are pretty helpful too!
Great Customer Service
