Small space but amazing food! They serve breakfast all day and their lunch options are delicious! The staff is super friendly and its right off the main street so you are close to everything, walking distance to the bay!Edit: we came back 9 months later and it was even better then before!! John Wayne (his real name) was such a character and was a pleasure to talk to. Not only did he make great food recommendations but sent us off on a great adventure for the day! Glad we came back, its a great place to eat!
A safe bet for a solid breakfast. Somewhat unconventional service style- Once you get a table, you go up to order at the counter, get your own coffee and such, and then someone brings you your food later. Table service lite. Regardless, it was an amazing meal. The interior is broken up into neat little breakfast nooks and the staff seems to all be chipper high schoolers on summer vacation. Theres a motorcycle on the wall.
Saw another similar comment below. I would say everyone works there is always smiling however my experience there wasnt fun.First, you must go to a front desk to order and pay at counter including tips, which I assume many people dont know what amount to tip or if they should tip or not. And it may explain why the cashier is smiling hard and trying to tease you. I would not give tips if I am back though I know I will never be back again, cuz they didnt do much to serve you.One problem is that I dont like the cashier (middle aged man looks like owner) inquirying about my name. I told him my preferred name and he said it is better to be called John?! Excuse me, it is my name. And to be honest, you should not look at my credit card details without checking my ID.The open kitchen is right behind the counter so the air is so oily and ugly. Youd better find a tabel near the door (an elderly couple asked me if they can have my seat just when Im leaving, they were originally sitting in the middle of the store waiting for their food). As of food, mine is really disappointing. They have a special menu for fiddleheads omelette. So I decided to give it a try after heard it is popular in the area in this season. I paid 15 bucks including tips (I shouldve not given) for a overcooked omelette and its salty. It is overpriced. Fiddleheads actually tastes pretty good, but you need to fully cook it, not eat raw like salad. I have attached the pic in case anyone is curious. The REAL PROBLEM is that the same cashier (owner?) came to deliver food to different tables and he would inquiry and chat with every table EXCEPT me!!! I am smiling all the time even after he jokes about my name. Really disapoointed by this person. Maybe I am an Asian? 😒 NVM, and I have to put the plates back to the counter. So what is the point of giving tips if I didnt get served. I will NOT come back again.Btw, food on 2 other tables seems fine. Didnt try it so would comment on flavor. Hope anyone reading it have a nice trip.
The staff here are so friendly, kind, and helpful. They truly make the experience. The lattes and cappuccinos were really enjoyable. They had soy and almond milk alternatives. The food was so-so. I have never had huevos rancheros without avocado included. The hollandaise sauce was incredibly overwhelming and really only tasted of mustard; for $16 it was hardly edible. The menu only exists over the order counter, so expect to be in a crowd of people trying to decipher what is on the menu. If you are hard of seeing, you will need it read to you. Water and regular coffee are self-service. The turnover rate for tables was pretty quick.
Thank you for feeding us multiple time while we are here for the weekend!! Everything from breakfast to tacos (cold toes tacos) is ABSOLUTELY delicious 🥰 we couldnt help ourselves but to keep going back!!
After years of being a Camden Classic, new ownership has taken it to new heights of taste and quality. Some old favorites remain on the breakfast menu, but nearly everything else has changed. Seating is more comfortable and more abundant, the coffee is excellent, and the baked items are the best in town. The menu is a lot of fun, but I never use it. Instead, I prefer to let them serve me whatever they choose!!!
Best breakfast place Ive ever had the pleasure to eat at - my husband & I ate there on a cool, rainy morning, but it was an upbeat, cozy vibe inside. It was very busy when we arrived and were werent sure what their seating process was like, but the staff was very friendly and assured us wed have a place to sit soon, which we did. My husband is a mushroom forager and was beyond thrilled to see they used actual wild mushrooms in their wild mushroom omelette (which tasted amazing too!) Food was great, coffee was amazing, and the blueberry bacon doughnut was out of this world. Wish we lived closer so we could go visit again - keep up the great work!
Had the biscuits & gravy it was excellent. Plenty of sausage gravy and great biscuits just crunchy enough for texture just soft enough to absorb the gravy without falling apart. The eggs on top cooked perfectly as well, I had sunny side up and yolks oozed without being over cooked and hard. Great atmosphere and just a nice vibe overall, the coffee and mocha latte surprisingly good as well and worth a visit for them alone.
Great atmosphere - if you read about the history! Great food and service. I ordered wrong... They remade selection without a question. A perennial visit when in town... Side note take your food and walk across street, go towards left and eat outside at the gorgeous outdoor amphitheater of the library.
Normally love the food and the service here, but yesterday was an anomaly, I hope. Two young men were taking orders and delivering food. My friends order came quite quickly. She had almost finished when I inquired about my order (grilled cheese and soup). I was told that the soup takes a while to heat up. It was one of the days soups! I sat for a while longer and finally one of the two young men came and said he was sorry but the server (the other guy who was too immature to admit what he did) took your order to someone else and would I like to order something else on the house. I said no, I would just forget the soup and just take the grilled cheese. About 5 minutes later the grilled cheese and the soup arrived. The soup was too hot to eat so I ate my sandwich and took the soup home. No offer was made to comp my meal. The young men (high school kids on a week off from school) were having a great time laughing and joking around and not paying much attention to what they were doing which I mentioned to them when my food was delivered finally. The “server” said oh, ya think so! FYI, I’m 68 and he was about 16 — should have better manners don’t you think?
First of all I want to say that everyone who works there is cheerful and smiling and friendly. But, two of us had two eggs with sausage and room temperature home fries - with tip just under $29.00, Really - has Camden come to that price level?! The young man (again very friendly) who brought out our breakfast tossed the flatware on the table in front of us and walked off. And then - at $29,00 we took our own dishes to the sink - I am not sure that this is a requirement of the restaurant, but we were trying hard to behave..... Not going back....
These people know breakfast AND lunch. And the ambiance screams “authentic”. The staff were charming, for being as inundated with customers as they were when I ordered at 9 am The hustle and kindness they put in every meal made (you can see how hard they work from the booths), order taken, and footwork in the dining room was a sight to see. The menu was full of seasonal tributes to summer fruits, and I ordered a sandwich to take with me, to eat while hiking nearby Camden State Park. Big mistake. I was still full from breakfast! But everything was amazing and I have toyed with the concept and how we can open something similar in my own neighborhood. This is a must visit when in Camden.
This is a great place for breakfast. The menu is eclectic and quite good. There often is a line but it moves quickly. The coffee is excellent. It is self serve for the most part including bussing your own table but that is not any issue.
Great little place. We had breakfast with out of state friends. A little tight inside but food was great.
Always delicious and great portions. Fast and great quality. Also, donuts
After standing in line for almost 20 minutes, the server at the register goes have you found yourself a table? To which I nod my head no. We wont take your order until you have a place to sit! Thats great to know. Too bad you have no signage or direction from your staff indicating this. Perhaps just seating people the old-fashioned way and having a waiting list could avoid pissing off hungry people. What are you doing??? So learn from my misery and get a table first so the that the incredibly conceited staff doesnt treat you like a second class citizen for not having a table. Or you can do what I did and not bother with this place and head across the street to Marriners instead. Delicious blueberry pancakes! You wont regret not eating here!
Best breakfast place around! Cant beat seeing the owner Brian working away in the back. Simple family owned and operated breakfast. We love going here before a full day of ice climbing!
Seriously the Eggs McKay Sandwich was the best breakfast sandwich Ive ever had in my life. So much yum! Love this place so much!
So delicious! The Thai chicken salad is my favorite...EDIT: Ive heard that with the new owners they no longer serve the Thai chicken salad. Im sure the food is still good but Im reducing my rating to 4 stars.
My husband, daughter, and I stumbled upon Boyton- McKay while in Camden and were so glad we did. The food was amazing and the gentleman that waited on us( I believe the owner) was extremely helpful and so incredibly nice! We got out daughter(10 months) their housemade donuts and she loved every bite.
Always a great experience. Amazing donuts too!
The most adorable little place to eat. Historic building. Amazing food! And great service!!
There was a bit of a wait as the place was really busy. The staff got a bit frazzled during the rush and misplaced our coffee order and in the end we couldnt get what we originally wanted. However, the food was incredibly delicious and made up for the wait.
Wonderful food in a very interesting space. Great baked goods. Give it a shot.
Really tasty breakfasts, excellent coffee. Had the skillet with chorizo and potatoes, husband had the huevos rancheros and enjoyed them very much. You order off a board at the counter, get your coffee at a station nearby then find a table. The waitress then brings out your order and any extra condiments you need.
I have been going there at least once a week for the past ten years for breakfast. Good food, prices and people. Best French toast ever.
This place came highly recommended. The food was incredible, the service was too notch. It gets a little crowded, but we never had to wait. We tried the French toast, huevos rancheros, breakfast salad, and the breakfast sandwiches. This was the best breakfast we had in Camden. Definitely give it a try, you wont be disappointed.
The brisket hash is awesome! I wish I could get it here at home. I will be there every morning when I visit Maine!!!😎👍
Outstanding breakfast in historical-feeling, high-ceiling room. Counter service. Hearty menu, w daily specials. Go!
Delicious, creative, locally sourced food, excellent coffee, and personable staff. This is a favorite breakfast/lunch spot. Highly recommended!
My homefries were entirely unseasoned, as was my friends food. Plus there was a hair in my chorizo skillet. Ill be back, hoping for better results next time.
Great experience. The breakfast and portions are hard to beat. Unique offerings. We had the rabbit crepes. They were delicious!
Unusually good food.
Good food but the service required getting used to
Great food and coffee. Get the skillet #2 if you like meat. Lots of hot sauce.
Very good service, atmosphere, and food.
Good local food, great service, they make great efforts to work around my allergy. While I love the jambalaya, I rarely get to eat it because the specials are always so amazing. And the huevos rancheros are consistently wonderful as well, as is the locally roasted coffee and in house baked goods.Kid quote of the day I didnt know it was possible, but this food gets better and better every day!
Amazing food and spectacular service, always 5 stars.
Boynton McKay has a unique twist on food. They have a bit of a wholesome organic feel. Order in the back and they deliver to the table. Open for breakfast and lunch.
Great lil place on main street Camden. Yummy food n fast service.
Great food for a fair price. Very kind gentleman working there, very personable.
Place is no longer open. It is now a Ruckus Donuts.
Restaurant layout isnt ideal--but dont let that stop you from ordering anything from their eclectic menu. Its ALL good.
You can taste the freshness in the farm to table ingredients.
The best breakfast I’ve had in all my travels! Portions are plenty and prices are reasonable. I would have paid more for this!
The food is incredible. When it is crowded you will struggle to find a seat and feel pressured not to linger over your meal but the food is worth it!
You gotta try it. Breakfast is awesome!
Love this place everyone was very friendly food was excellent
Great iconic breakfast place. You can feel the history.
Remember you have to pick a seat then order. Also coffee and water is self serve. Wonderful breakfast and lunch selections.
Nice community place with delicious mostly locally sourced food. Boynton is the place for locals! One star missing only because thru are not 100% organic yet
Tasty brunch at a reasonable price in a fun environment. The skillet breakfast is good.
Excellent breakfast good service wish it were closer
Fantastic, had to wait about 15 minutes to sit, but well worth it. Great food.
Great staff and food
I really used to enjoy this place, however it underwent some changes about a year or two ago, and it is not what it used to be. On the upside, the character, charm, and nostalgia of this old space offers a really cool vibe, with the antique woodwork, metal ceiling, and tile work, which all harkens back to Camden’s yesteryears. Before the recent changes to the layout of the restaurant and the menu of this establishment, the staff was always friendly and accommodating. However, along with the above mentioned changes, came deletion of some menu items that were the main reason I used to frequent here. Gone are the frozen mocha coffee drinks that I always enjoyed (when I asked one staff member, who was very unfriendly and indifferent, and also very short with her responses, about the ice blender/ machine thingy, that they used to have, when they made custom frozen drinks at the old front counter in the store, her response was, “we got rid of all that stuff, so NO, no more frozen drinks!”). On another recent visit, I asked if they had any chocolate croissants (which they always seemed to have when the counter was in the front of the store). I did not see any out on the new back counter, so I wasn’t sure if they ran out, or if they stopped carrying them, and one of the staff responded with attitude, “umm, sorry, this isn’t a bakery, so if you want a croissant, you’ll need to try down the road!” Btw, If you are enjoying an afternoon in Camden, you need to get here EARLY, because they lock the doors promptly at 2:00 PM, and are they are also not open on Mondays, so basically, if you are looking for a mid-afternoon snack or beverage, while checking out the sights in Camden, you can forget about this place, because the door will be locked when you go by! I’m always baffled by the charming, quaint eateries in tourist towns, that close early, when there are so many tourists who are willing to spend money, as their appetites fire up from all the walking about town. The bottom line, is that on many occasions I’ve had to take my business elsewhere, because this place either was not open during the bustle of the afternoon or early evening hours when I was in town, looking for something to eat, or because they stopped serving some of my favorite go-to menu items, not to mention the less-than-friendly responses I’ve gotten from the staff on my last three visits. Needless to say, I won’t be going back.
Great stop for breakfast in this small town. Tempted by the bacon topped maple donut but settled and enjoyed my huevos rancheros.
Food was good. Service was excellent!
Delicious breakfast and coffee. Nice servers and good atmosphere for in downtown Camden.

We had a hearty and very well-prepared breakfast here, and the staff was great!
Very good food and nice feeling being there!
Best breakfast and lunch in Camden. The brisket hash is out of this world.
