Stopped in a few weeks ago, just to ask about a few cars out front for sale. Kevin was super helpful well I forget the the other guys names, but they were both super helpful just when asking about the cars so I imagine they are also honest and fair when they are working on cars. Might take my vehicles to these guys in the future.

I would give negative stars if I could. He did work unauthorized and not discussed. Hecharged over $100 for an oil change that was not asked for. And another $100 for a diagnostic that didnt find the problems that were discussed before hand. Out over $200 and no answers for what was wrong with the vehicle to begin with. The word crook comes to mind.

I was so thoroughly impressed with the friendless, quality, and fairness I received from Mike at Caveman Auto when I was stuck in Carlsbad on a weekend. My car overheated just outside Carlsbad after a long drive from Albuquerque late on a Friday. I showed up at Caveman early on a Saturday looking for some emergency help, and Mike was happy to help. He spent hours trying to diagnose the problem, including changing the thermostat and working hard to save me money by saving the coolant during the change. When the initial repairs didnt work, he continued diagnosing the issue, even offering to loan me his car for the weekend so he could work on it more Monday. I ended up spending probably five hours at his shop, yet he only charged 2 hours of labor and only the parts he actually used. Super up front and super fair, what a great experience, given the circumstances.

We were traveling through Carlsbad from out of town and had a breakdown.Mike and Dan were very helpful and communicated clearly to me from the beginning to the end. They were the only shop open on a Saturday afternoon, and they still charged very reasonable hourly rate, and got the work done quickly with minimum cost.

The guy that runs it thinks he should run America, thinks he is better than you, thinks he is someone. but charged me a arm and a leg to change out a air filter. 35 bucks to change out a filter???? I timed him and it took 4 minutes, would only take cash which probly went straight into his pocket and not the company

Ive been here on several occasions, not because their good, once on a jeep was a transmission issue they couldnt work on it... second I was told $300 to get ac working(it still barely cools) I told em go ahead, I get there and after finding out I was oilfield it jumped to $700. Then tried to get a suburban running good to make a trip to Oklahoma. He tells my wife he wants $500 down, then when he realizes its me. After I talked to him on the phone, the price jumped to $1000 down. We picked it up immediately. If you are local he may be helpful, but if OILFIELD, I would not take anything to him to gouge you on.

Pockets wide open. $20 just to check air in the tires of our rental car. In the last 18 hours, weve learned enough about this price gouging town. Peace out, Carlsbad.

Really pleased with my service from Caveman Auto. Im from out of state and when my vehicle broke down during a weekend, I was taken care of with a place to park, advice, and service to help me get back on the road -all outside of regular working hours. Above and beyond is the only way I could describe my experience. They helped make a stressful time a whole lot more manageable and I am extremely thankful for that. Thanks again.

Mike gave me a ride out to my abandoned car 20 miles out of town when 3 wrecker/tow companies were too busy after a snowstorm. Then took a look under my hood just to make sure. Great service.

My boyfriend and I were traveling through New Mexico and ended up having MAJOR car trouble & were stuck for 30 hours in Carlsbad! Mike helped direct us on where to go to get parts we needed even though he couldn’t help us. He was super helpful when he didn’t have to be and his staff was also very nice! Thanks again, Mike!

My wife and daughter were passing through Carlsbad NM when they car trouble. I called Caveman after reading their good reviews on Google and talked to Mike. His shop was very busy but said to send them over and would check it for them. Found the trouble was minor, fixed it, and got them on their way. Thank you Caveman.

I havent had a change to repair my car here, as mechanic wanted me to leave my car here for at list two days and two days not for that they will check your car for two days it is just wait till they get to your car, then probably more after they found what is the problem or wait for part... So no appointments...It seem to be good mechanic shop even outdated, but downside you have to leave your car.... Also not sure they can fix Japanese car,So if you have extra car that might work for you..

Passing through Carlsbad my wife and I pulled into Cavemans repair at closing time on Friday, October 28. Our left front wheel had just started a squeaking noise and by the time we got to the lot it was a loud squeal, it couldve been a wheel bearing, a serious brake problem or something else.Instead of telling us to come back the next day because they were closed they pulled the wheel off to see what the problem was and if there was anything they could do at that time. They discovered the problem: a loose stone that had lodged up in the brake, they removed the stone, put the wheel back on and all was good!!This was of course a huge relief. We are so thankful to have found an honest, competent and caring service place at a very difficult time. Thank you Mike and crew!

So honest! I usually hate going to auto shops because I always feel like they are trying to find the tiniest things wrong with my car and find the most expensive ways possible to fix them. I have to take their word for it though because I dont know a whole lot about automotive repairs. This was the first time in my life that I felt like they werent trying to swindle me. They were honest and told me that there was no way they could know if the part just had a leak or if it needed to be replaced completely by just looking at it. So they filled it up for me and said that they would try this first and depending on how fast it ran out would tell us what the next step would be. They actually tried to find me the cheapest option first though and it was much more affordable to do the initial inspection than other places I called.

Any Oil Field workers should stay away. Over 400 dollars labor just to change a distributor and adjust the timing belt. I feel bad for People living in Carlsbad thinking this is what a mechanic shop should be.
