Dropped of my bike back in may because I had broken it on a trail that day and I knew how long the wait times where. One of the biggest things that made me mad was in the three months that they had my bike they didn’t even wash it off once like a normal bike shop would this is partly my fault but still that’s not all. I’m 17 and although I’m paying my mother back for it I put my mothers car down expecting close to or under 300 dollars. Instead I got a bill for 400 and 3 months of wait. I’d use a different bike shop as they lie. This job took two extra months and 100 extra dollars the qualities fairly decent but lying to your customers is definitely not OK!

I went into Carmel Cycling back in May looking for a birthday gift for my husband. I saw they did tune ups and figured that would be a great option. When I went in, I asked if I could purchase the service in advance and they said yes. I explained I knew nothing about bikes or anything and asked for recommendations and was told there were three options and the cost- not a ton of info but I had looked in the website and figured that would be good. I picked the performance one and gave them my credit card. I asked what else I needed to know or do and they gave me a date and said when to bring the bike in- there was a 6 week wait.My husband took the bike in and asked what else he needed to do. They said there was a deposit down and if there were any additional charges, he would be called in advance to approve. He picked the bike up today and there were close to $100 of additional charges done on the bike. They told him the work was done and there was nothing they could do. I called when he got home because I was the person who purchased the package and was shocked at the response. I was continually told how low quality the bike was, how great the upgrades were and how we just needed to ride the bike and see how great it was. I explained I had no doubt the work was great but was not pleased with the customer service or experience. I was told it is what it is and that we expect if someone purchases a performance package, they want the best. Thats when I reiterated that I had proclaimed knowing nothing when I came in and no one had explained anything. Had they, I may have felt differently. Then he continued to talk about the great work that was done and I asked just for understanding that this wasnt handled properly and I didnt feel like there was an admission of poor service or even an apology. He said he had nothing to apologize for and I said I couldnt in recommend them and he said thats fine, write your help review or whatever. You need to understand were in a bike boom and were trying to get bikes in and out. To which I said I needed him to understand that it was my money he spent without proper approval. He said nothing. I asked him to just please not let this happen to anyone else. His response, well do our best. So... theres your answer. Theyre making money hand over fist, so no wrongs on their end. I tried to look up the owner to share my experience. Couldnt find any info...

Friendly and fast- they had new wheels on my bike in 2 days. They might be more expensive than other bike shops but they got me in quickly. My only complaint is they posted spring hours on their door but didn’t update the website so I drove out there and they weren’t open. Otherwise, I’d definitely use this place again.

Hang in there for this one.Took my Trek in for a simple tune up. Before booking my appointment, I viewed the website to check pricing. At that time, it claimed a tune up was $80. I booked the appointment, a little hesitant considering $80 is kinda steep for a simple once-over bike check. I’ve only owned my bike for less than 2 years and not ridden it a ton. It didn’t need much. Here are my reasons for giving this shop 1 star…1) I had to book my appointment weeks out.2) They’re hours are very restrictive. They close at 5:00pm. I don’t even get off work until close to that time.3) Upon dropping off my bike, there was no explanation of services I was to receive or price confirmation.4) When I picked up my bike, I was charged $100, not $80.I am very displeased. Between the time I had made my appointment and the day of my appointment, the price of a tune up had changed on their website from $80 to $100. That is a hefty increase, one they neglected to inform me about. Even $80 is too much for a simple tune up. $100 is just ridiculous, especially considering my bike really did not need much attention at all. It’s still practically brand new. When I asked what they had done to my bike in particular to charge the $100, all the guy could tell me was that he didn’t work directly with my bike and he was unsure of anything to do with the service, and that $100 is the base price for said tune up. I can almost guarantee they didn’t actually do half of the things that are included in one of their “tune ups”because I would be shocked if my bike even needed most of those things. And if that is the case, they simply charged me for a tune up and all things included just because I apparently made the mistake of using the phrase “tune up,” not because my bike actually needed all the things included in the tune up. I trusted them to know whether or not all items included in the tune up were needed. I personally don’t think it’s appropriate to charge for services not performed even if it’s supposedly “included.” If certain services included in the tune up are not performed, one should not be charged for the entire tune up. Simple. The price should reflect services rendered, and in my opinion it does not. Especially given the crazy price increase from when I had originally scheduled my appointment.Overall, I am very disappointed and urge future customers to be very specific about services and pricing expectations. Keep your wits about ya. I can see based on other reviews I’m not the only one who has been slightly bamboozled by Carmel Cyclery.

Unfortunately since these guys got busy in 2020, they have forgotten how to be organized, follow through, be professional, or properly take care of their customers. We’ve made many purchases with them through the years but will be going elsewhere from here on out. They have become pretty rude. After waiting over a month for a part I was told was on backorder, I found out they never even ordered the part. It took several phone calls and many requests to actually follow up with me on whether or not I was waiting for nothing. Super disappointed. Now I’ll need to start the process over again with a different bike shop. I understand being busy can lead to mistakes and cause stress but offering zero apologies and acting like I’m bothering you with my business is not acceptable. I’ve actually cancelled a bike tuneup on another bike and will instead wait 5 weeks to get in elsewhere. It might be worth hiring more help if things are that bad guys. When bike business slows again, or there is more competition in the area, you may regret how you treated people. When I called to cancel the appointment and kindly let them know we were disappointed in our service and felt that they didn’t have the time to offer me good service, they said yep! We’ve been pretty slammed, you can go elsewhere. Didn’t care at all :/

The worst customer service I have ever experienced...and they still lied to me and bike is still not fixed. They robbed me! The staff was rude and disrespectful and I wouldn’t even recommend this place to an enemy! Never go here for anything! Too many other options to go here!! What a waste of time and money! Huge let down. Would love to know who the owner is! They need to clean house.

Maybe I went in a busy day for them, they spent literally 1-2 mins with me, didnt show any interest in showing me the options they had or even to explain to me when to come back, I left and went to Bicycle Garage Indy, they were much more organized, they allowed 12 ppl inside at a time, I waited in my car until my turn, they explained to me the options, tried the bicycle and bought it within 15 mins, customer service is an integral part in any business.

This place used to be great and the place to go to for bikes, accessories, tune ups, etc. I’m not sure if there’s been an ownership change or just employee turnover, but the folks here have been downright rude. My wife placed an order for a part a month ago, followed up recently and said they have no record of the order. The employee groaned when asked if he could look into it a bit. Mind you, we have bought 2 bikes from here in the past. Additionally, I needed a tube replaced (a minimal procedure), which they told me would take 3 weeks. I went to Gray Goat the same day and while they said typical service lead time is 3 weeks, they can do a tube replacement in 15 minutes. I’ll be going to Gray Goat for my cycling needs from here on out.

Jay was so exceptional last year when I started shopping for my first bike in over 20 years that I went back a week ago and finally ordered a Specialized CrossTrail Sport. And while he wasnt there yesterday when I picked it up, the staff made sure everything was set to go and got me hooked up with a couple accessories I needed out of the gate. After riding it home yesterday and commuting to work today I know they definitely got me the right stuff. I couldnt possibly recommend Carmel Cyclery and their staff highly enough.

We came in on a Saturday morning September 2019 and were looking to purchase a bike for my wife. There were no other customers in the store. We felt like an inconvenience to the 2 men working. The salesman seemed more interested in talking to the mechanic. We asked questions about proper bike fit that seemed to stretch the limits of his knowledge. Since he wasnt sure which frame size would work best for my wife we asked if we could test ride both. On the first test ride he watched through the windows from inside and on the 2nd test ride he also stayed inside but apparently was more interested in talking with the mechanic. After she got back from the ride I asked him what he thought of the fit of that bike and he said, and I quote Oh, I wasnt watching. I waited to see if he would apologize and ask her to go for another ride so he could watch, but no, we were apparently on our own to decide if the bike was going to be a good fit. If the sizing and fit was going to be up to us then we might as well take our best guess and order online to save some money. I prefer to support local bike shops but geez, if theres no benefit why would I? If he was a newby or didnt know how to answer then he could have asked us to come back when a more knowledgeable sales rep was working. We bought a new bike from Bicycle Garage Indy. Id recommend them. They were extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and committed to making any adjustments needed to get my wife on a comfortable bike. I hate to leave a bad review but after some time has passed this is still my honest assessment of our experience.

Went into store to buy training wheels. We were not certain what size we needed so we just picked up what they had. Went to check out and the associate said that if they do not fit, we could NOT return them. We were not certain of what size we needed, but they were $30+. We were simply going to run home, put them on, and if they did not fit, bring them back and get a different size if they had them. We asked why they would not return them, and it was like we were a burden just because we were even inquiring. The answer was something like...because it is a pain to do the return paperwork?? Anyway, we said no thank you...and they let us walk out. We have a family of bike riders...and looking for new, upgraded, bikes...we will not be going there based on this small lapse of customer service. They have a nice selection of bikes, but I just cant do rude.

Good people, good service, reasonable prices.Dear husband and I got our bikes out of the mini-barn yesterday to ride them to the gym, an 8 mile round trip. Mine is a still serviceable near 20 year old Trek. After we got home, in a few hours he noticed my rear tire was flat. Upon closer inspection, it wasnt just a flat; the tires were dry rotted. We were lucky to have made it home. So, at 5:15 pm he took it in to Carmel Cyclery, expecting to drop it for pick up several days later. However, while he ran to AutoZone to replace two burned out bulbs on our truck, they put new tires, tubes, and a nifty Mirricycle mirror on my bicycle. Could not believe they got it fixed and back to him that quickly, saving him or me a 7 mile return trip to pick it up later . . . and we can ride today!
