I went to have brunch yesterday with my friend who was so excited to introduce me to roots. We ordered our drinks and food. Unfortunately they notified me after 20 min that they were not able to make my dish, because they have ran out on an ingredient. Totally understandable ! and they guided me to a similar choice the Breakfast Waffle. After making my new choice, they said the price is the same, no need for a card, all they needed to know was my new choice. So I sat down. From the time it took for them to notify me about the issue with the ingredient it took 20 min now with the new order another 20 min. I began to grow a bit annoyed. I go inside and ask about my status of my waffle and order the cashier said “we refunded your card to the previous order and we did not place the order for your waffle, we need to charge your card again”. Even though I was previously told I would not need to be charged again the price the same from my previous choice.I grew extremely frustrated because there was no sort of communication. This whole time I was waiting for a food item that according to the cashier was never charged or placed, although I was told there was no problem with choosing the substitute food item. Now waiting for my food to come out took another 20 min.Communication and customer service here is very poor. I will not be coming here again.

The coffee was tasty and the staff were very friendly. The ambience was very cosy and comfortable. The coffee was great. Even if it was my first time to drink their coffee, I could really appreciate the taste and it became my favorite flavor then. I will recommend and will visit again. Thank you so much for the accommodating staff!

The best of the best coffee I ever tasted! They had special coffee beans that make their coffee very special and unique with other coffee shops in the town. They also have pastries, cakes, muffins, and more desserts. The place is very relaxing and cozy, too. Please, stop by here and have a cup of coffee!

This new coffee shop is great!! I loooove the photogenic peony decal and the kind employees. The latte was great too and they were kind enough to make it with my diet shake so I could drink it. It was a good place to get work done, however there are only a few outlets so bring an extension cord. Other than that everything was great!

My sister and I came here at 8am for an early breakfast. We got the avocado toast with egg, matcha waffle, and lavender latte. The avocado toast was very fresh and the matcha waffle was fluffy and not too sweet! Definitely would recommend coming here for their food and cute atmosphere.

I went to this coffee shop with my sister, we were so excited to try their food and coffee, the coffee is good but the food is a 3/5. The costumer service was bad they forgot my food which is okay I understand, but after I quickly noticed how others were being treated different from us.

Great coffee and tea. The food and treats can be a little pricey, but theyre worth it. Most of its homemade. I love to come here to study, job search, and chat with friends.

The Banana Pudding is delicious! Its light because its more of a whipped Banana pudding! I also had a strawberry hibiscus tea which was good because it wasnt too sweet!

Of the two times Ive come here, Ive had a great vanilla latte and a mediocre once. The place is cute and a nice place to chill with friends, but the wife is crazy slow. There are outlets scattered here and there, and an extension cord at the big table.

This place was definitely made to capture the attention of young adults and teenagers. The environment was enticing enough to take multiple pictures of my food. The food was great but the seating area was quite small.i would come back for the toast and lattes.

Service is super slow, food is okay. Drinks are good- definitely dont come here if youre expecting a QUICK bite. Youll probably leave annoyed

My new favorite hidden spot! They serve quality coffee but also have a wider variety of drinks than most coffee shops do. And toasts. The staff was really friendly too! Definitely going to come back to try something else on the menu.

Menu not extensive but what they have is great! I liked that the Thai iced tea wasn’t sweet. Matcha waffle w ice cream = highly recommended.

Cafe latte was awesome. The sandwiches were delicious but the poached eggs were over done and dry...the avocado toast was not fresh tasting.

I ordered the the Avocado Toast and Dragon Well Tea via Doordash as a special delivery for my boyfriend who works in Buena Park. I contacted Roots Cafe by phone before the order was delivered to ensure that a hand-written message make it into the delivery bag, and that the Doordash driver was provided with more detailed delivery instructions (as I was unable to provide them in Doordash). Everything turned out perfect!!! And, according to my boyfriend, the food and drink were to die for!.A special thank you to David for taking my phone call and working his magic!
