Have a lot of products, especially Korean stuffs. Owners are really friendly. Great place to buy oriental foods near the campus town.
Im stoked that there are a good number of Asian food markets in the area and that AM-KO is one of the original ones, possibly the oldest. Their variety is great and its easy to find items because of how they are organized by kind and cultural connection.
The selection isn’t amazing but my overall experience has been good. They have the basics you’d need and they also have cooking supplies if you need them. A little on the pricier side but it’s understandable since it’s a small business.
This place is great. There are so many unique and unusual things to find here. I do not know another place to get the items that I buy at this place. Every time I go, I walk up and down the aisles to see what there is to see. Very interesting. I suggest that you check it out and try something new for a change.
The ducks in the park across the street are very friendly. They especially seem to enjoy frozen peas.
This is one of the six asian markets in town, and one of the two on campus. Most of the store are candy, snack, drinks, kitchenware, and houseware. It offers limited foods, like the ones used to cook.Staffs are nice. Parking is enough. Watch carefully when you drive and merge to traffic.
Great food and groceries from many Asian countries
Small but with a bit of everything! Staff is helpful and will remember you and your shopping preferences. Always something fun on sale. Carries also Indian food, items for home, and traditional foods both fresh and packaged. Parking lot is tight but has two streets to connect. Strong plastic bags, but no paper. Decent pricing on most items. Credit card purchases must be $5 or above.
Decent price, friendly staffs
They got everything you need. My Korean friend found what he needs place need little clean up.
Love shopping there, i always find interesting stuff to eat.
A small place with tons of Korean, Indian, Chinese, and Japanese food supplies. They have a lot of great ingredients that are hard to find elsewhere.
I love this place for my black rice and my 5 lb bag of rice. They have a great selection of Roman noodles as well.
One of my favorite pan-asian grocers in the area! The store is small but they definitely keep a good variety of product. The staff are always friendly.
Friendly staff. KOREAN and Asian food store. Reasonable price.
Best Ramen Noodle selections ..
Not many organic or all natural ingredients foods, otherwise its okay.
Great place for the hard to find Asian foods. Service is also excellent.
I dont get why super market of former president korea would be built near the University. While this store is helping the community people, Korean who lives around and asian students who likes Korean food for many years. Super market who are planning should stay at Chicago. And dont come to Champaign and destroy my favorite AM-KO market when I was going school.
Always a great experience coming to amko.ike is so helpful. Not as big as some aisin grocery stores but it is still my favorite. Quite a great selection of soy saucess and other things I will be back!
A long time favorite. Although they specialize in Asian foods and other goods you can also find middle Eastern and Latin foods as well as a wide assortment of household wares. They also carry a good selection of sakes some wine and beer. You can find everything from the eye poppingly exotic to the mundane.
Excellent customer service with your grocery store and all your food products in your store ginger tea is good
AM-KO is a local institution, and has more or less anything you could need for most kinds of asian cuisine. Also has some great bulk items: 10 lb bags of potstickers, huge jars of kimchi, massive tins of sesame oil. If you do any reasonable amount of cooking with ingredients like these, you can seriously stock up here.
I went here with a friend to get Halal beef and chicken for a dinner for friends. We ended up with halal beef and goat meat but its a great place to get other things too. Good service from the staff
They have a great selection of pan Asian foods & equipment
The most convenient place if youre living on campus and looking for quality and unique Asian ingredients. Keep in mind though that this place is Korean, so youre more likely to find Korean ingredients than other Asian ingredients. I think that since they know they have the edge of location, their prices are higher than other places. A small place, but usually will have what youre looking for if you need Asian food, products, or even candy.
Lovely and helpful staff. I come here to shop all the time and they are always welcoming and help me with anything I need.
AM-KO has all the products to make an Asian feel home. Authentic inventory, great prices.
This is the BEST place for getting Eastern cooking supplies and snacks! We go there regularly and always enjoy the experience! Definitely go and just see what they have! Youll be inspired. :-)
Nice selection of everything, many items you cant find other places.
Enjoy shopping with a healthy and happy environment...great variety with easy access and fair pricing
One of my favorite things to do is go in and get a few new snacks to try. You HAVE to try the red bean fish shaped ice cream. So incredibly yummy!
Great service, amazing quality & selection of products. Candy, noodles, seafood, dried fruit, canned goods, ice cream & Spirits!
Very friendly and helpful staff
This store has a little bit of everything: fresh and frozen food, snacks, candy, imported soda and drinks, alcohol, bulk spices, dishes, silverware, gifts and kitchen accessories. From time to time youll find fresh-baked sweets or hot bao, but those are rare. Very worth the walk!
I love coming here when I need some Korean cooking ingredients. They have other Asian cooking ingredients as well, so its nice little place to stock up.
Prices are good for non-perishables and dry goods, sometimes better than fresh international. Meat selection is ok. Produce pricing and selection can be really good or bad. Kimchi and tofu prices are the best Ive seen in town
Great selection. Normally I have to travel to Chicago to get the selection they have. Very happy in finding this store. I will be shopping here on a regular basis now on.
Dont let this no frills appearance trick you. Ive been going here since I was a little girl. As a little girl I would pick out candy now my littles do the same as I do my shopping. I love the selection. And I love getting my meat here. Always leave with a tonkatsu or two.
Friendly service. Nice help people. Good variety/choice. Many unique fresh oriental vegetables and meats.
It had everything cultural but also had mold growing on the coconuts
Nice go-to store located on campus (1st & Springfield) for international foods. They accept Debit, Credit and Link.
I like this place mostly for their spices and flours these days. I like to make mochi and they have sweet rice flour. If youre gluten-free it seems like a good place to buy alternative flours like rice and dal flour as well as grains like millet for WAY cheaper than anywhere else. Some of the grains and beans are even organic. They also have a wide selection of Asian candies and snacks, which I used to eat a lot of. Theyre really tasty!
Its a little bit unclean...
Great place to get ethnic foods friendly staff decent prices good selection of items
We host exchange students and often take them here to shoo. They have a variety of Asian foods including some Indian. Also a great place to get bulk spices that may be hard to find in a regular grocery.
Nice and helpful. Easy to find.
Nice asian grocery store close to campus. Has most things youd need from an Asian store. Rice, noodles, frozen, meat, fish, seafood, tea, spices, utensils, kitchen stuff, and vegetables.
My daughter loves Asian food. She finds a lot of the things she likes there
I have always loved coming here. Great selection. Great staff!
Great little store to buy Asian snacks:)
A decent range of spices for cooking Indian good. Rice and lentils can be found here too.
Been shopping here for years
Its convenient and cleaner in comparison with another asian store on campus. And it apparently got different food for different ethnicity groups. If you are from overseas, its a great place to buy your food. Or if you are an american, its great to have some adventure.
This is a grocery store specializing in oriental foods and other goods. The prices are pretty good considering a lot of their goods are likely imported.
Good stuff and friendly staff. Some prices are a bit on the higher end but really nothing crazy.
Great Korean store, after being stationed in Korea this place was cool to go back into
Good for Korean and even some Indian and Filipino goods. Clean and staff is helpful. If you need something, just ask.
Best selection of Asian food and groceries closest to where I live. Im out of bamboo shoots in chili oil so I have to go back soon!
I really like this store, but the last KitKat I bought was probably expired and the taste was just not the same before.
Close to campus and reasonable prices for a wide array of international products - its great!
Love going here, friendly employee s and owners sweets are amazing never a long wait in line
Asian grocery. Friendly, helpful, knowledgable staff. Very reasonably priced.
There are some middle eastern food over here, different types of khobz, cream cheese and more
Great selection of favorites, staples, and new things to try. Very easy to find.
Variety of products from oriental cuisine. Kind of pricey when compared to other o calories stores.
A lot of people cant live without this little store. I used to walk 25 min. per way in 0F weather to get my favorite sack of rice.
Quite a good selection of all kinds of things you cant find at a normal store. Really good prices too.
Oldest Korean grocery store in Champaign. There used to be a different Korean grocery store with a great selection of items at a great price level - Lees Oriental Foods - but the owner retired. This is probably the store to go to for groceries, drinks, alcohol from Korea. There is Korean beer, soju, wine, makgeolli, as well as sodas (Milkis, cider). There are Korean vegetables, fruit, frozen foods like dumplings as well as meet and seafood. Pastes, sauces, oils, are all here. Good rice selection too from Korean brands like CJ.
Nice variety from many countries
Great selection l of authentic Asian items. A bit pricey but worth it.
Awesome asian grocery store. Seems to always have what I am looking for when I am cooking thai or filipino cuisine.
Cheap. Quality. Variety. Nice people! WONDERFUL PLACE.
They have good selection of Asian South American and middle eastern the pricing is OK
A wide variety of hard-to-find (outside of Chicago) items, great prices overall, and a Champaign institution. Do local gas stations inform all their customers before their prices change? Youre lucky theres even a store like Am-Ko in town. Gimme a break --- Am-Ko ROCKS
Great local Asian grocery place!
Great place, always has what your looking for and more!
Good place to get goat meat.
They have itoen bold green tea and the cheapest Calibee chips.
Small but had everything I was looking for.
This place is my oasis of groceries that you just cant find anywhere else on campus. Places like County Market or Schnucks, which I go to often, just dont have the selection of authentic Asian foods that Am-ko has and that I need.
Convenient place to buy asian groceries in Chambana!
Great selection. Items within expiration date
I get big bags of frozen dumplings and hot sauce here.
Reasonable price. If your order is over $100 and live in campus, they deliver
Good asian mart near campustown.
Wide variety. Love this place.
Friendly staff. Pretty good selection for a small store.
This place is really nice to get korean groceries!
Excellent selection, can find most items for Asian dishes here
Great store convenient to campus - interesting product mix
My favourite place for ethnic food in town, great selection and great prices
International foodSmall but have good veraity
Great asian selection and pretty good prices.
Very unusual selection, very cool place to look around
This is the go to market for Korean food in the CU area.
Good locaton near student residential.
Great selection, and it even smells authentic!
