Took a transmission housing in to have a broken bolt removed. They did a great job getting it out, and the price was fair. But they messed up mating surface trying to get it out. They patched it with a little weld and tried to tell me that it had always been like that. When I took it home and measured, I figured out it wouldve ruined the bearing clearances and made the transmission destroy itself. If they had been honest about it, this would be a 3-star review, because I gave them a pretty tough job and they did it. If they had gone and milled it flat again, it would have been 5 stars. Instead, they lied to me about it so they wouldnt have to fix a mistake. You need to be able to trust what your machine shop tells you, and this shop wont tell you the truth.
This was one of the very few places (maybe even only) that would fix my bent custom ns rim (that hit a pothole super hard) that was aluminum and they did such a good job that I can’t even tell anything happened to it. I’m extremely pleased that Matt over at Champaign True Tires on Neil St. worked with me to take off the rim and bring it over. I’m extremely grateful.
Took my head in to get a hole fixed, was told they have done thousands of them! It took them 3 weeks to fix my small block chevy head and after paying $800 to get my motor put back together, I now have antifreeze coming out my exhaust pipe, which means, they didnt fix the problem at all and now I have to tear it all back apart, buy a new head and pay AGAIN to have it put back together! I called them and all they could say is, Theres no guarantee Thanks for nothing!!!!! Next time I will take my business to Hedricks! If ZERO stars was an option Id take it!
The only shop in champaign that i cod find but too expensive.
