They gave us a binding estimate for a long-distance move after coming out twice to see everything we were bringing. By their own manual, that means they will deliver all of our goods regardless of weight. After loading everything and bringing it to their warehouse, they said they would need $3,500 more to deliver. When we did not immediately succumb and argued the point, they then moved back the delivery window significantly. They originally had also promised us in addition $100 for every day it was late. We didnt get our stuff for three weeks after that window closed, and only after we found another company to load it from their warehouse. They have also not paid us for the delay.

They have serious quality and professionalism issues at several levels of this process. I love my new location and home and we are really happy here. But, Federal Allied has quite literally been incompetent at every step of the way, from planning, estimating weights (they were off by thousands of lbs and STILL didnt take everything - I had 2 uhauls, 1 truck load, 1 car load left to get rid of after), setting dates, keeping dates, communicating, not dropping fragile loads, trying to overcharge for work that was already estimated, my wife unloading the van because Federal Allied couldnt estimate the required work, the list just goes on... The only process that has been competent is Federal Allied collecting money. I also tipped the movers not insignificantly for their work that day. I regret sharing that tip with the driver/organizer at this point. I would not recommend them for anyone.

I had a great experience working with Federal Companies. They were friendly, responsible and very dedicated toward moving my packages. The whole process was smooth from beginning till the end, and I will definitely work with them again.I will definitely recommend them to my family and friends who are looking for a professional moving company.

Kyle was very gracious with all our questions and amendments to our request. Julia our coordinator was awesome to work with and kept us updated and all the steps. Matt and his crew packed our house. They were professional and respectful. We realized what an amazing job they did when we arrived and all the boxes were intact. Dillon and his crews were outstanding. They loaded everything from the house and our storage units in one day. 2 days later our belongings arrived and again amazing job at unloading first in a storage unit and then our new home.Our move from Champaign to Miami could not have gone smoother.Hope to never have to move again but if we do would absolutely work with this company.

We used them to move to Indiana. There was some confusion on the quote with Kyle about how much we were packing vs the company. During the day of the move, we had to “re-quote” or schedule a different day. Obviously, not an option. I was told by a few of the employee that the GM James, doesn’t speak to upset customers, but he wouldn’t split the $500 difference. It was disappointing how they handled the issue. The guys that did the actual packing and unpacking were great. Can’t say enough good things about them. Very hard working and professional. Management is lacking...

This is the first time I’ve used a moving company since 1994 and I couldn’t be more pleased. From the first phone call and the good byes to the logistics crew, it was nothing but professional and centered around my satisfaction with the experience. I highly recommend Federal Companies and Allied Van Lines for any relocation needs.

James and Tyler were amazing! They were on time for pick up and delivery. On top of that they were fast! Would recommend using them if you are moving!

Federal was excellent in handling our 20,000 lb load from Knoxville, TN to Champaign, IL. We used them for both packing and moving services. Staff were professional, timely, and cared that we had a good experience with what can be a stressful time for families. Rob, our driver and team leader, had exceptional attention to detail and the crews that worked with him in both Knoxville and Champaign were great workers. The folks in the office (mainly Char) were awesome on the front-end of the move in helping us understand all that was needed. They solved problems easily and quickly. If we move again, I would immediately call Federal.

Federal Companies is a professional firm. The company performed a move for my family and it went smoothly. All of the beds were assembled and the large pieces of furniture were placed in the proper room. The movers were kind and meet my demanding expectations. Thad and his crew were respectful of our new home and prior home. Without hesitation, I would recommend this company to anyone.

I had a great experience with federal companies. They were kind, friendly, and very respectful. From the office to the worker everyone was nice. The workers were clean and quick. Which fell right into my schedule.

They were wonderful. From the sales person, to moving coordinator and the actual movers/packers themselves. I had 0 issues and absolutely no complaints, I highly recommend their services. We used them for a home move for out of state.

I had a great experience moving from Gibson City, IL to Nashville, TN with Federal OByrne. Everyone involved was amazing, from my quote to the guys loading the truck, unloading the truck and the office staff who followed up. All of my furniture was securely wrapped and moved in under 45 minutes. I would highly recommend Federal OByrne to others!

Contacted them about coming out and giving us an estimate. We had them scheduled and an email confirmation. The guy called the night before with the wrong time, we corrected it with him. Then he never showed up the next day. Called us after and asked if he could reschedule. Nope, how do we know they will show on the day of the move. I emailed the company and let them know, never heard back.

Kyle Dietz made my move the most stressful experience Ive had in a long time. He gave us estimates for our move and told us to call about 2-3 weeks out when we had a date. (Our new home is under construction, so we couldnt give an exact date). We called and had to call him back several times, only to be told that the whole month of June is booked and they were not available. NOT COOL!!!! That kind of customer service makes the company look bad.

Matt and Jarel were fantastic! The weather was not in our favor but they handled the move like pros. They were respectful and kind. Highly recommend these two great men.

Very professional and caring movers. They worked hard at keeping the schedule even through the storms we had around the area. They took detailed care of packing and moving our stuff.Matt and Jarel were our movers, they laid tarps and boxes over our new home during delivery in the rain.Julie was our move coordinator and she bent over backwards keeping us on schedule despite weather slowing us down and our very tight move out/move in schedule.We have moved 3 times in 6 years and this was our first time using Federal. If we move again we will call them first as of the other two companies, they impressed us the most.

Great company great staff highly recommend for any decent or big moves

When I initially called I told them I needed the move done by a certain date and they told me no problem. After getting a quote and them telling me they would call back to schedule I never heard from them again even after several calls and voicemails

This was the worst moving company I ever had to work with and I have moved many times.I used them twice, foolishly thinking that the second move would be better since they had such great reviews and recommendations but they were terrible.Both of the times that we used Federal, my furniture was severely damaged. In the first move, almost every piece of my bedroom set has chips and scratches in the wood that we had to give away half of it. Then, in the second move, our couch was damaged. The mover who damaged the couch did so my intentionally forcing it through a doorway until the fabric ripped off the back of the couch and he didnt even stop then until I went out to check and noticed it. Then blamed me for the damage since it was a big couch. They promised to fix it but did a bad patch up job and still we have to look at it every day and be reminded of what a terrible decision it was to use this company.The worse thing was their price. They are completely over priced, and in this case it doesnt mean better service. First, they over quoted us and then they overcharged us.The first move was through work so I didnt see the bill but the second time I noticed a lot of charges that didnt make sense. They overcharged of the number of movers, the time of the move, everything that they could and when I talked to the head of the company, he wont correct the charges.This was the most disappointing company that I ever had to work with and I would recommend using United if you are in the Champaign area.Also, I wrote negative review on their website, but they delete all reviews that arent five stars. BE CAREFUL with this company, better yet - dont use them.

I had a bad experience with this moving company. Im a University of Illinois professor; the University suggested I use this company for the move. I received a quote from Federal to pack and ship 8,000 pounds of material. When the movers arrived, they told me I had upwards of 13,000 pounds. I contacted Federal Companies to get a new estimate. They gave me an estimate that increased my bill by nearly 50%. When we arrived at the weigh station in Illinois, I learned that I had roughly 10,000 pounds of material -- not 8,000 or 15,000. Federal then sent me a bill that was roughly the same as their quote for 13,000 pounds of material. I wrote a letter complaining that there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to the way they quote or bill. I never received a response... until 18 months later when they wanted their money.

I was really nervous about using this company because I had read a lot of negative reviews. My experience overall was actually really good and much less hassle than the alternatives I looked at (pods and uhaul boxes either couldnt be delivered to my place or picked up where I was going, I was going to have to hire movers to get stuff up and down the stairs separately, etc.) I had Allieds movers on both ends of the move, which was so helpful, but I think a key to the success was that I packed EVERYTHING myself beforehand. I even wrapped some furniture in plastic to protect surfaces, took everything apart myself, and made sure boxes were well cushioned inside. Other people who complained about things being broken or damaged didnt do this. id strongly recommend it. I did have two or three pieces of furniture damaged (one IKEA side table had the legs completely broken off, beyond repair, and the other shelves were scratched). These were items that I didnt cushion or pack myself, and I think if I had, it would have been fine. Allied DID, however, reimburse me for the cost of those pieces of furniture within about a month and a half. Someone in my new town came to my house and assessed the damage after about a month (which was a little inconvenient since I had to just live with broken furniture in the middle of the room so that it could be assessed before trying to repair or toss it, but thats not too bad of a situation). My moving helpers in both locations were great -- friendly, careful, etc.Bottom line: Id use Allied /Federal Van Lines again in the future and Id recommend them, but I think its really important to do the packing yourself, keep close track of what goes where so you know if anything gets lost (none of my possessions were lost and that was a great fear :)), and keep anything damaged until the assessor comes to take a look. There were times when it was difficult to get in touch with the right person, or someone Id never heard of called to ask me a question, so be prepared for a little frustration there, but when I DID talk with people from Allied they were great. I think its a mark of a being a large company. Overall, I am happy with the experience.

They employees of this company robbed my parents TWICE. First, when packing, they stole jewelry and cash. Next, they took more cash when they were unloading boxes at the final destination. Apparently Unloading boxes made room for loading pockets.
