So glad they made it through. Both packaged as well as refrigerated offerings. If you cant develop the sauces from scratch plus spices then get premade from multiple Indian imports.
Ashoka is the perfect store to find the spices youre looking for. They have a wonderful variety of Indian Groceries, including dairy, produce, frozen foods, and dry goods. This is the place where youll find the paneer! They also have a huge selection of Indian snacks. They do not have a large sundries area, so you wont find your favorite shampoo here, but if youre feeling adventurous, you can try out what they have. The store is clean, organized, and the staff is friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend this store.
Friendly staff and a great little place for Indian groceries. I love cooking Indian cuisine!
Good parking space. The owners are nice folks, I felt.. watching them at the stores. Variety is limited, ex.. I did not find top reman noodles brand. Price a bit on the high side compared to Patel brothers, but you will have to pay for the convenience near you.
Tiny Indian Grocer with a great selection of curries, spices & sauces. I found, with help from the clerk (possibly the owner), exactly what I was looking for plus many other delicious foods. If you enjoy food from India this is a great grocery store!
Its rare that I go for a low rating for a grocery store but then theres a reason behind it. For this store I can say only two things: Very high prices compared to other grocery stores and no proper description of the items at all. So going home if you would want to check the bill then theres no way you will be able to make it out. In todays times, its always better if customer has some awareness reg. the purchase he/she made. I somewhere felt the other way round as it did seem fishy. Attached is the bill where one can see how things are described.
My go to for spices and rice.
We go here for green plantain being South Indian and they have the best of those.Rest for of it is good for grocery(they carry specific tamilnadu specific items)but not great for vegetables
Good selection of groceries plus beauty, hygiene, and small cooking equipment. Not a huge variety of fresh foods (dairy, fresh fruit and veg) but probably enough to do in a pinch. We found the service friendly and courteous when we asked. Not super expensive but didnt get the sense that things are really cheap, either.
I wonder how this place stays in business with high prices, poorly marked pricing, and rude associates.
Great place to shop, social distancing and you mist wear mask to enter the store
Clean, friendly and always great service - have been coming here for years
Small grocery with most of the indian items. Vegetables choices are not so extensive.
The owner is very kind and helpful. Its a small store but has a decent selection. Their prices are also very reasonable and they are always well stocked. I highly recommend Ashoka.
Best place for spices, especially on a budget. Great for curry pastes and chutneys, too. Friendly staff and neat aisles, everything you want from a family-owned grocery!
Best place to go in Phoenix for curry sauces and Indian treats. Love this place
This is a really nice store with a great selection of Indian goods. Very fair prices too.
I just came from Ashoka Indian Groceries. I had a fantastic experience. The owner was very helpful and a customer in the store was also very nice. They had everything I needed. And the prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend this place for your Indian shopping needs.
There are most of the things that according to an Indian taste, but still a lot of things are missing, like small packets of Rice, fresh vegetables, etc
This is a very quaint little Indian grocery store. I was in Ashoka Indian Groceries one time and they were playing this song where the guy shouts Yahoooooooo! I always remembered this. Then one day I had to look it up. I searched moderately hard to find it. The song is old, from the 60s, and is sang in the movie Junglee.
Great Indian grocery store. Friendly and a good selection.
Fresh stock in all these 15+ years I have been shopping here at very reasonable prices. Much better than any other store with Indian groceries, including Lee Lees Oriental Market, in my opinion. Fresh stock are the key words here...
Great place for all Indian stuff. And fresh chapati too!
Pros: if you need something quick in Chandler area, you.might find things in this store.Cons: Rude owner. No expiry date or nutrition info on many of the products. Costly compared to other Indian stores. And very less variety of things .Lotus, cloves, Bharat bazaar: are far better than this place.
Very good Indian grocery store. Most of the daily needs are available.
Small, but, well stocked Indian grocery store.
Good Indian store but not much options for vegetables. But you can always buy desi rotis from here.Small store but can get everything.
Convenient Indian grocery store.
It has most of the expected goods you would want in an Indian store. The vegetables are better and you may get a lot of frozen goods too. Utensils and seasonal goods also arrive there including Indian festival products.
Great Indian grocery store. Friendly and a good selection.
Traditional shop for spices and groceries! Large variety of snacks too❤ Prices are excellent! What a great experience😁
Its a good place with a decent options of Indian grocery and a nominal price... Good to visit anytime its not crowded like other shops whenever I visit and I like calm shopping :)
Great store for various Indiana legumes and spices. Fresh produce also available.
Ok selection. A little pricier groceries but turnover keeps good fresh.
Wife loves this place. It reminds her of the things she hasnt been able to get since being a kid in the UK.
Great local Indian groceries. They have a fresh section and all yhe necessities. Plus they have cook ware.
A good Indian grocery shop. Have all basic Indian groceries. The vegetable collection is not very great as they typically have very small collection.
Store is small but well stocked. Owner is very helpful person who can help you finding things you seek.
Rude owner, not helpful owner, overpriced substandard expired grocery, these are understatement for this store. I am not sure who has given license to the owner to do business.I was over the phone and asked for price of an item once, there was no answer. I asked for the second time and the answer was “CAN’T YOU SEE I AM WITH A CUSTOMER” as if he is selling Oxygen and I cannot live without buying it. And there was few exchange from both the end and owner asked me to “GET OUT”. I asked why do you want me to get out as I did not take the law into my hand. He said you abused me. I asked do you have a camera. He said yes. I asked can you show me and he suddenly backtracked saying I do not have any camera and insisted that I should leave his store immediately.I am sure the owner can afford to do so because he is doing the same things to others from more than past 10 years and still in business because the Indian community staying near to this store has their own limitation (having difficulty to commute to other store). My review may not affect him at all but I am doing my part by posting this review.I do not think it deserves a one star. Not sure why Google does not have zero or negative star.By simply opening a business because you have money power and a space does not deserve one star.
Ashoka Groceries is definitely worth the trip if you like to cook Indian food.
I live in Flagstaff but have shopped here for several years, on regular trips to Phoenix, stocking up on spices, teas, basmati rice, beans and dals, flours and oils, and some packaged sweets etc. Reasonable prices and never a problem with anything I bought. Its well-stocked, clean, ample, and with a choice of big brands at least on the more common items. I cant understand the complaints about the owner: I have always seen him to be courteous and helpful to customers. Running a store is hard work.
Always in stock. U will find most of your Indian grocery . Vegetables are fresh and pulses are of good quality. Clean aisles
This store has all expired food items. Please do not buy dosa or idly batter here. I purchased these batters twice and it was full of fungus. I faced the same issue with bru coffee and other snack items. They do not perform the inventory check and the owner is least bothered even after bringing him in notice of the expired food items.
Its alright place.some food items are fresh and good while some are old and near expiry. Check dates always.Decent options but dose not stock major brands..or better brands.sometimes not so friendly staff..depends on the day...little pushy to sell.
Good variety of items. The place needs an upgrade. It looks and smells very old.
This place cheats over Diwali time frame I purchased coconut sleeves, before purchasing I asked the lady if it was ok, as I idea brown spots on the coconut shreds. Her response was no problems they all look the same. Came home made chewda and the coconut was bad made my entire Diwali pharshan a mess. Do not buy anything from this place if you know how to lodge complain with this business unit with naricopa county do let let know. This BY messes up up my Diwali
Very nice people to assist you in your Indian food recipes.
Great assortment of spices got me some tika masala and tandori chicken flavour awesome!
I have been coming here for many years and I love Indian food this is the best little store around
Great place for Indian grocery! Slim pickings sometimes when stocks are low but usually you get everything you need.
Very few items available, majority south Indian, rates pretty high.
Great for a quick shopping stop for what ever u need to cook Indian cuisine
V good customer service great prices
Great store wide selection of Indian goods
Great to have indian grossery in here
Great variety and very helpful service
Great spice selection and other Indian foods at very reasonable prices.
Was a regular here when I lived in Chandler. Has everything you need as Indian family, reasonable prices, and 2 of 3 cashiers are nice and friendly.
Nice store and personal was very helpful
Good place for fast pick-ups
Good selections. Its like a progressive, family owned, grocery store.
All your Indian spices and herbs, Pooja (prayer) items, Indian grains, flour, vegetables, snacks, savouries, sweets and any thing Indian you will find here. The prices are bit expensive, though.
Very rude owner.Try asking about prices..you will see the true colours..they price thing high. as long as you dont ask questions..its a good place....100% rude
Very fresh vegetables and good option of namkeens
A bit expensive. The same product in any of the neighborhood Indian stores is almost half the price. Could be better!
Simple...one stop shop for Indian groceries
Veggies are not that fresh. Also the pricing on items was competitively higher than the new stores around the place.
Most of the items are expired date please be aware of it.
A good collection of Indian stuff, neatly organized. I had a good experience with the owners.
I just drove their for the first time from 5 miles around 8:30PM and they were already closed. Goolge and pictures says it opens upto 9:00PM. Thats why I always prefer Lee Lee.Looks like they are running out of business.
The groceries are bit expensive but its the only one in Chandler.
Quality of Lentils is better than other Indian grocery marts.
Variety and price is good. Though owner is not very friendly.
Small shop with limited options. But has a courteous staff.
Rude very rude owner. Vegetable variety is not good. Higher prices.
A vast array of goods.
Place to visit only when on need else prices are comparitively higher than other indian groceries and owner is least friendly when we talk about any item, he boast about himself and never tries to convince the customers.
Everything and anything you needAston got it.
This store has enough stuff for all Indians. But dont go to shop only vegetables, they dont have too many here.
Not too many choices. I went there after many years and still looks the same.
Overpriced when compared to the newer stores. Produce is not fresh
Small decent store with good selection of Indian grocery
Good store to get indian groceries
Got an expired product of clinic plus. Very pricy.
Ok to have indian grocery
Good items in Stock and fresh vegetables
Rude owner. Outdated items sometimes.
Not so much vareity, less than avg customer service
Not many options, but you will get at least something.
Indian shop with minimal selection.. Need to monitor the shortage of some groceries
Yes I definitely wil
Reminds you of those small shops in India. Too stuffy
Waste of time, guy in cashier lot of attitude & DUM 😓
With other Indian store opened up nearby, I hardly visit this place now.Customer service is not friendly.
This place need an upgrade and it’s hard to find fresh vegetables and rude owner
Owner is grumpy.. average place for groceries
To the point place.. has most of the essentials
As some of the reviews have suggested the owner is very rude . The prices are expensive compared to other Indian stores . Has limited options ! If there is no other choice only then go here . Check expiry dates before purchase !
Not the best Indian store but still has all the Indian stuff I ever need.
