THE BEST EXPERIENCE I have ever had with a service company in my lifetime. I dont know what Jorge is paid, but he is worth his weight in gold. So rare these days to find a person who takes pride in their work, is highly experienced, professional, knowledgeable, efficient, has excellent communication skills, and is happy to be there to help. His positive attitude was contagious. He even seemed to enjoy answering my questions and explaining exactly what he was doing and why. He is very detail-oriented and conscientious, making sure to test everything before completing the job. Before leaving he went over instructions and gave me some basic preventative maintenance tips.Perhaps the most amazing thing was this- As he was leaving, I noticed the glass screen of our garage door wall controller had several dead bugs in it. Try as I might, I had never been able to figure out a way to clean them out of there. I ran out to his truck and asked if there was any way to clean them out. He happily pulled back in the driveway, removed the controller from the wall, disconnected the wiring, used an air compressor to clean out all the bugs and debris, remounted it and tested everything again before leaving. Everything was completed within the 1 hour time frame allotted. WOW. Jorge, it was a pleasure to meet you and an honor to have such a qualified technician take care of our garage door needs. I found them on Nextdoor after Pest Control tech told me that the bottom part of the garage had holes that the mice might be coming in from. The garage tech came, and he said that he would replace it. I told him what his thoughts were on the garage door cause it was old. He said it was starting to crack. He gave me a quote for a new door. He also stayed a bit later, fixing the garage door until I got the new door. A month later, I put in the request for the new garage door.Another tech came, and he was just as professional as the first one. He replaced the door, and I am loving it.

Mario came out and found the reason why my door was intermittently not closing. Diagnosed and fixed quickly. He also spent the time to reprogram all of my remote devices to open and close both doors. This morning Academy Door installed a new garage door opener and I have to say that the entire process was great. This includes the initial contact with the office to order & schedule the installation. The price was fair and reasonable. The technician arrived on time, did a fantastic installation, and answered all my questions. This is the 2nd time Ive used them and I would definitely use them again. Wow! Al from Academy Door & Control arrived ahead of schedule and he worked his magic on our totally dead garage door opener and in nothing flat, we were back in business again. He knew exactly what was wrong with it (a dead control panel inside the opener) and replaced both it and the wall control pad. He reprogrammed the remote and the car remote and he serviced our door. All of this occurred in about 20 minutes. If you want it done fast and right....call Academy and ask for Al. Other companies could take lessons from Academy Door. We received excellent service from Mario who came out to replace our garage seal and fix the track so we could open the door electronically instead of manually. Mario was knowledgeable and completed the work quickly. Definitely recommend!

I’ve been using and recommending these guys for years. Great service. Excellent quality materials and installation. I’ve personally used them on three different properties over the years. They just finished installing three brand new doors in a barn I converted to a garage. John Williams visited the property multiple times and worked with me to make sure we framed our openings properly to accomplish the goals we had for the doors, maximizing opening sizes. On the day of installation, Douglas and his helper did a fantastic job and knocked it out quickly. There was a minor mistake with the sizing/quantity of a couple pieces of weatherstripping. It was not a hassle to me, but everyone was very apologetic and two properly sized pieces were installed later that same afternoon. I’m not including this to point out any shortfall. Quite the contrary. My point is that in any construction project something can go wrong with even the best planned project, and it’s how the company handles it that counts the most. I was told by Douglas and the office that someone would come by the next day and nail up the last two pieces of weatherstripping. That seemed super responsive to me, but then they exceeded my expectations and had it completed the same day! That’s great service! Their prices are more than fair for level of quality and service provided. Don’t waste your time taking to any other companies.

My husband used to like the service before, so we called again to fix our garage door recently. After seeing our bill, they overcharged the materials they used. When I search the material prices on google, highest price came all together was $66 but they charged $229 + labor charge $140(this is reasonable). We replaced springs and wheels for one garage door. Please make sure the material cost.

Quick same-day service for my garage door tune up. Big Jim and Coach came out and found a bunch of issues I never even noticed. They fixed then on the spot, and my garage doors have never run more quietly or smoothly.

My garage door was in bad shape. Harry came and fixed it, lubed tracks, fixed a few more.things on pulleys and cables, and out the door the price was really great. Very happy with this service! Would recommend highly.

I cant say enough wonderful things about Academy Doors. We needed both our garage doors replaced completely. They gave us a very thorough quote with several options, explaining the differences with each choice. Their crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and were very pleasant with the kids who spent most the day watching them work. I hope to never need garage doors again at this house but I know who I will call if I do!

Academy Door replaced our garage doors on 6/15. We ran into a small problem. We had a storage basket holding up the summer top of our Jeep that needed to come down. We had to remove it in order for the installers to do their work. Lewis and William were wonderful and polite. They took it down and continued with their work even though it delayed the process. I called the company and spoke with Allen, the General Manager. He was also very professional and polite. The reason we decided to go with this company was because last year, Robert had installed the garage doors for one of our neighbors. We were pleased with his work. Our neighbors were happy with the installation. When I called Robert to let him know about the situation we ran into, he went above and beyond to come up with a solution. He kept me abreast on how they were going to rectify the situation. I definitely recommend using Academy Door. We love our new garage doors. Again, thank you to Robert, Allen, Lewis and William for working with us. We are happy customers.

Called Academy at 8am on a Friday to replace the spring on my garage door. They offered a window of 11-2 that same day, and arrived at noon. Completed job in about an hour. Both technicians were nice. Would use again.

Summary:Horrible service. avoid at any cost. paid $149 just come look at it and touch door. broke after 5 mins after guy left, asked $799 dollars to replace parts that were not problem at all. Got it fixed by another garage repair company got it fixed for $250 including free new wheels. I do not recommend this company.Detailed :Guy comes without looking at door tells me that wheels are problem that why its odd rails. looks at door quickly tells me that spring is problem, you have one spring door should have two springs. and tells me wheel on one side is close it edge. tells me only way he warranties work is if i buy two springs for $130 each, gets new set of wheels for $130. two bearings each for $130 and pay $149 for service. total cost would have been $799. I was not ready to spend $799 on garage door. asked if he could fix it so that it would work for some time. Then guy asked for $149 and told that he would not warranty work(i can post pic of invoice where it says no warranty). The only way guy will warranty work if i pay $799.Guy started working and he knew exactly what to do to make it work for 30 mins. he pretended to do something. Garage door broke 5 mins after guy left.I hope this review finds eyes of dad who started this company and take care of the company and keeps check on his kids how they are ruining company he started. Everything in this review is exactly as happened and i swear its true.

Academy Door & Repair, was the only company to return my calls on a weekend. They really got me out of a bind.

Perfect service. I called them yesterday because my garage cable has become detached from the door and the door was canted in such a way that I could not open it. They offered me next day service and were one time. They had me up and running in less than an hour and I felt the price was reasonable.

These guys gave me a good price for a very energy efficient door. They put it in as promised within the expected time frame. I would highly recommend them.

The unusual issue to our garage door compounded by the intermittent malfunction was hard to diagnose, but the technician was able to resolve and also made some improvements. I called Academy Door to have my garage door repaired. From the beginning to the end my experience with the company was very positive. They managed to have someone out to my house within three hours! Harry, the gentleman who repaired the door, was fabulous! He was most pleasant and very professional. He took the time to explain what the problem was and promptly repaired it. I will definitely use Academy Door again.

Academy has been my garage door company for decades and I have always been impressed with their service. This morning, I called because my garage door would go up in the morning but wouldnt go down successfully until after noon. We had had work done within the garage so we didnt know if there was a mechanical problem, maybe motor, paint on runners? Kristin, after listening to my tale, said it sounded like the sun was shining directly on the electronic eye. Bingo, that was it. She gave me tips on how to fix it and that was that. No charge, great advice, wonderful customer service. Hats off to Academy Garage Door...again.

Academy Door & Control Corp has been my go-to garage door company for almost 13 years now. Recently we had a ghosting issue where our aging overhead garage door would open on its own, and as the garage is connected to the house, it was not a good situation. Jorge was dispatched and made a controller frequency change, which worked perfectly for about a month. Jorge did not suggest a new garage door opener at that time as the current unit was otherwise working perfectly and he believed the ghosting issue would be eliminated. Then the issue started again, and we opted for a new garage door opener, one with WiFi connectivity and smartphone monitoring. Academy was quick to respond, totally understanding of the urgency of the mater (as we were going out of town), and responded the very next day. The new unit is fantastic, and extremely quiet. We have been extremely happy with Academy Door and recommend them unconditionally. They are great, from the owners, to the office team, to the field personnel. Just great! Craig (Reston, VA)

Great product and service. Had my 60s era garage doors break down. Got 4 estimates and chose Academy Doors. I think I dodged a bullet by not choosing one of the other quotes. There prices are with the pack for the product they provide.

Spring broke on my garage door. Academy sent someone around within 2 hours. The fair and firm price quoted beforehand by polite customer service representative, including all taxes and was honored (no games). Technician performed maintenance on the door after he replaced both springs, and even quieted some winter squeaks. All in all, a job done professionally and well at a competitive price.

I have now used Academy Door 4 times, and one thing consistent with them is that their technicians are outstanding. They clearly know their stuff and do good work.Their customer interactions outside of their technicians, however, are pretty poor. Scheduling, getting specific times for arrival are suspect. And my particular grievance is in pricing. We had placed an order for a replacement lift for one of our garage doors, and then even added to the order before the installer was scheduled to replace the 2nd one. So a very easy sale. Their multi-install discount of $15 is not worth considering. I had contacted them through Angies list, and before the service date they had put up an offer through Angies list. I would have purchased it there if it had been available, but thought surely theyll allow us to use it now. The offer wasnt anything crazy; it would have resulted in less than $50 off a total of about $1,100 of work. They flat said no.Seems like an awfully small amount for jeopardizing a repeat-customer relationship. Contrast that with a similar experience 2 months ago at Costco. Bought 4 tires, and by the time I came in to install them they were offering $70 off the 4 tires I bought. I mentioned it to the tire-center rep, and she immediately signed off to apply the sale to my purchase. This is why I love Costco and continue to be a loyal customer for many years.Their method of offering discounts is not dissimilar to under-tipping. Its better not to bring attention to pricing at all by offering discounts that you either find technical reasons not to apply or are so small that they dont really help your customers bottom line. If youre only going to tip a quarter to a waiter, youd be less insulting by not tipping at all.Normally I would have given a much lower rating, but again I want to emphasize their technical expertise is clearly high. Just be aware if you want to work with them, you can expect to feel like youre not very important to them.

Just had Academy Door and Control out to fix broken spring on garage door.Service guy Shannon was great, right on time and said job would take 20-30 min.He was right on the mark as well as doing routine maintenance on garage door to eliminate all the noise it was making.The cost was reasonable, even more so with 10% discount coupon found on their website.Highly recommend.

The door installation went fine, however, the accounting department made a mistake and sent me an additional bill months later. The company does not hold itself accountable for their errors, I find this very unprofessional. Though I am not legally obligated to pay for their mistake, I am paying the bill because I fear if there are any problems moving forward, they will refuse me service. Holding your customers accountable for your mistakes aligns very well with the new Trump administration.

Service was prompt. Called at 9:30 and by 11:30 had garage door back in service with two new torsion springs. Tech was prompt, efficient and courteous. Who could ask for more?

If I could give lower than 1 star I absolutely would. Had a new opener installed. A week later their office called and said the card number the technician wrote down was wrong and to call them back. I called back a short time later with no answer. Over a month later I called a second time and left another message to pay. Finally I called a 3rd time and they say oh yeah we have been trying to call yet my phone never rang once nor any messages left. Horrible customer service in their office. Technician was anazing but there office staff is the worst Ive ever delt with. I will NEVER use this company again and highly recommend you do not as well! After all this headache and run around you think they would give you a discount for their poor customer service....
