Total yum! Any place that knows what a real macchiato is is alright in my book, but JVG also knows how to make a tasty macchiato! This is a great location. Easy / ample parking. Open / spacious interior. Modern feel. Friendly / knowledgeable staff. Plenty of seating both inside and out. Well kept (clean).By the way, the pretzel roll is kind of amazing.

Good tasting coffee, great system for COVID safety (order ahead or walk up to window and then drinks are brought around to the side table when ready). Great seasonal options like rose cardamom lattes or honey almond cappuccinos. Biggest critic is that it is a bit pricey ($4-5 for specialty drink) and the service is not super fast. Also, keep in mind that the parking lot is small and difficult to navigate out of.

Nice coffee shop in Timberlyne Shopping Center, but unfortunate location between 2 fitness centers so parking can be challenging depending on the time of day. Good selection of coffee drinks, tea and other beverages. I didnt get coffee, but it smelled great. The matcha latte was good, but could have been smoother. Plenty of seating in the shop and some seating outdoors. It was rather cold when I was in. Ther wi-fi was good and easy to access. Good place to work overall.

One of the best coffee places Ive been to, their consistency is top notch even with many different baristas which is hard to find in most coffee places. Ive been there dozens of times in the past few months. Clean and simple interior and its sometimes a real pain to find parking (they are next to a gym and art house movie theater); also a little out of the way but if these facts werent present the line would grow long.

This locally owned coffee shop is a gem in the area. Coffee and tea drinks are delicious, service is always friendly, and theres ample seating so you never feel rushed while catching up with a friend or getting work done. Only reason I put 4 rather than 5 stars is that Im not impressed by the baked goods they offer :/ they have some gluten free options for those folks, but in the overall selection, there isnt anything that gets me drooling. Still, for a solid cup of coffee in a nice space, Joe Van Gogh is a safe bet :)

I found the website for this place very misleading. Based off what we saw there, a group of us understood we would be able to grab coffee and an egg breakfast. Instead it was normal coffee house pastries with no active kitchen. On top of that, the mocha I ordered was sickly sweet. I could have gone to Starbucks and gotten a better mocha.

Joe Van Gogh is a great local coffee shop and they pay their employees a living wage. Parking can be somewhat difficult at the Chapel Hill location, but its worth it for a great cup of coffee. I was very disappointed my first visit here before the movie which is conveniently located right next door. I love JVG coffee beans and choose them for my home coffee. That said, the customer service was sorely lacking at this particular cafe. The 2 staff people were snotty and had attitudes, and the woman was just plain rude. I am a senior citizen who drove an hour to come to the show and thought I would enjoy a coffee drink before it started. The cappuccino was also somehow not very warm. I live in a rural area, and maybe I just am not used to Chapel Hill snootiness, but it was insulting. I will go back and try again.

Very cosy atmosphere & friendly service! It was quite crowded, and seemed to be a popular place with both the young and the old. I ordered hot chocolate and an almond croissant. I had a strongly positive experience here 3 weeks ago. I thought I wrote a review at that time but it isnt showing up so unfortunately I dont remember the experience quite as well as I should, but Ill give it a shot.Joe Van Gogh came onto my radar as a local shop that roasts its own beans, which to me is a surefire sign of a quality location. And it certainly was in this case. Joe Van Gogh Chapel Hill is by far the best coffee shop in Chapel Hill and Carrboro for an espresso enthusiast - and Ive tried a lot of espresso that wasnt as good to say that.Ive been here a few times now, usually trying the single origin espresso (of which Ive now had two varieties) and once trying the standard espresso roast. All experiences were excellent. The motivating experience for this review was the visit my partner, Melody, described in her own review in which the barista remade a single origin we ordered because he was concerned with the quality of his first attempt (both were excellent, but the second attempt was absolutely masterful - elegantly complex, beautifully crafted, and delicious). I dont remember many details clearly beyond that so Ill refer to her review, but wanted to express how impressed I have been with this shop not just on that trip specifically, but on other visits consistently as well, and how much I look forward to returning many, many times.

My Go-To Coffee Place! I really appreciate the great service, quality, and price point of JVG. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their products. They also roast their own beans locally which provides more local jobs and a better tasting bean. Finally, for specialty coffees, you expect to pay a little more for the quality. However, compared to many of its competitors, I find JVG a better value for what I get.

I have recently started exploring the espresso scene - trying single-origins and blends at many coffee shops in the Research Triangle area, and Joe Van Gogh has consistently impressed me. In particular, I ordered a single-origin espresso today, and since everything wasnt set up to create the ideal experience, the barista offered me a free shot after I had finished the double I ordered! Not only does this demonstrate Joe Van Goghs commitment to high quality, but the customer service is quite excellent.

Joe Van Gogh is the best roaster and coffee shop in the area. They serve the best espresso and cold brew, and feature pastries from Guglhupf (yum!). This is the coffee shop I frequent most regularly and the coffee shop I would recommend to any self proclaimed coffee lover who happens to be nearby. Every time I drink a single origin americano from Joe Van Gogh, it brings tears to my eyes. Yes, Im serious, and I also just really love coffee. I appreciate very sincerely Joe Van Goghs dedication to bringing good coffee to the triangle. Their menu is straightforward, the ambience of the shop is clean and bright, and you can guarantee their espresso machines are in top working order every single day. Be sure to stop by regularly to see which seasonal house made syrup they have available!

Have been to this location for more than 10 years. Their espresso drinks used to have good crema and strong flavor. Recently it becomes more bland and watery. A mocha tastes more like hot chocalate than espresso. The quality is no longer consistent and really depends on the different baristas, some are more attentive than others. This place is ruied.
