My son love antiques and we made a special trip downtown to see this store. The shop owner began ranting at us as soon as we entered. He was kind to others who came in so not sure why we offended him so much with our presence except that hes probably also a bigot and our family is interracial. He missed an opportunity to educate/talk shop with a very, very interested teenager so shame on him. We will never return.
Golden & Associate Antiques on King Street in Charleston is everything that I like in an antique store. There are surprises and the unexpected throughout the store and around every corner. I really like that there are so many unique and rare items packed in to such a small face and it is fun to navigate through everything while never knowing what will be discovered next. There are some really good finds here that can complete any room in your house or be an excellent gift item for just about anyone on your list. This is one of my favorite antique stores in all of Charleston.
The man who was working in the store is one of the most offensive and rude individuals I have come across. There are plenty of other antique stores downtown. Take your business to the other shop owners and don’t subject yourself to this man!
Overstuffed, vastly overpriced ($45,000 sconces? Gonna need to see some papers for that one.), and bizarrely open about their politics, which apparently include memes about the President’s speech impediment posted in direct view of customers. This is definitely the kind of antiques establishment that relies on a business model of “hope that every two weeks a cash-rich sucker wanders in off the street.” Good luck with that, but I wouldn’t give this place my money if it was the last antiques shop on the Eastern seaboard.
Extremely rude staff, we walked in and were greeted with the owner instantly screaming at us and we were followed through the whole store by him I have been to many antique stores and was always greeted by respectful and kind staff.. not here I highly recommend going to a different place this place is not only rude but disrespectful and all together terrible
The proprietor is a horrible person. He screamed at me when I was taking a picture of a table because I admired it and wanted to share it with family members. My family is very familiar with antiques and has quite a collection, but I would never shop here. The prices are outrageous. His behavior was atrocious. It was so horrible that other shoppers left his shop in support of me and told him why they were leaving. No one should support this business in my opinion. So much for southern hospitality.
A very off-putting shop keeper that sells old trinkets. An unpleasant Geppetto, if you will.
The owner kicked us out of the store and started cursing at the children when they mentioned the absurd price of one of the items. Do not shop here.
My wife and I have been collecting antiques for 40 years and have never met a ruder shop owner. I would not by a paperclip from the man.
Lots of stuff. Dont know what the provenance is on all of the items, but with the prices they are charging, there better be so.e excellent documentation and history.
Epically bad customer service.
I have been shopping at Golden and Associates Antiques in Charleston for years. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They have beautiful and unique fine antiques. I have gotten some marvelous pieces here throughout the years and always enjoy hearing the history behind each piece. It is worth a stop if you are in the market for some fine antiques. You wont be disappointed.
My husband and I searched for a French chandelier for years and finally found the perfect piece at Golden and Associates. They have a marvelous selection and their staff is very knowledgeable. We were very impressed with the care they took during installation as well. Overall, it was an excellent experience and we couldnt be happier!
Truly enjoyed my time at Golden and Associates Antiques. The owner was incredibly nice giving me a thorough tour through both stores. I highly recommend visiting this Period Antique treasure. Looking forward to my pieces arriving. The shipping coordination has been very easy and convenient.
Beautiful pieces of furniture from a bygone era! My imagination furnished the Charleston Single I will only ever inhabit in my dreams! 🐚 Plus! It’s in #Charleston, SC
It was very quiet inside. Everything inside was extremely expensive, so we made sure not to touch anything. Was interesting to walk around in.
I found some of the most beautiful pieces of furniture at the Goldens. Ill be going back for a chandelier! The owners are always so kind and share so much knowledge.
Very cool antique store. Everything is truly antique but very pricey.
Lots of interesting antiques, on the upscale side, literally stacked everywhere. Narrow passages to wind through making it difficult to pass someone coming the opposite direction.
Golden & Associates has the best variety and selection of antiquities in Charleston, SC. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating with all aspects of buying process.
Nice place but hard to move around in as a lot of pieces are in a small place. A lot of great finds located within.
Very happy with my purchases! I will be returning for andirons very soon.
Largest selection of period chandeliers that I have found in Charleston. I look forward to returning.
Way over priced. Have visited every year for past ten years. The exact same items are still there at same price.
Amazing antiques and very knowledgeable, friendly staff. A must visit while in Charleston!
