I am a new dry stack customer. John and the crew are top notch. They have been super nice, informative and help a guy new to boating at every turn. Of all the marinas I looked at these guys are hands down the nicest and most accommodating in the area. They take great care of my 288.
Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Ample parking.
Workmanship is superior. John and George listen to your issues and provide helpful solutions. The yard foreman Micheal is great. He takes you through the plan for repairs and is always happy to teach you something and happy to answer questions.Had some port engine overheating issues and the staff troubleshot the problem. I had an “idea” of what the issue was and my “idea” was a probable expensive fix in my mind.Techs were able to pinpoint the issue VS running down different rabbit holes causing additional expense. The correct repair was thankfully less cost then anticipated. The staff went out of their way to do the right thing in my opinion.Had bottom paint completed and a thru hull replaced (water pickup strainers were bent up causing improper water flo to engine causing my overheat issue).I feel like the bottom paint job was done well and the pricing was good. The boat was delivered at the time promised and I will be back for my yearly maintenance for sure.FINAL THOUGHT: Now y’all need to understand that when it is the beginning of the boating season and you call to have something taken care of there is most surely going to be a wait as boat yards / boat services are minimal in our area. Be patient, understand folks are trying to work people in as best they can. City Boatyard will let you know what’s happening. Your a boat owner and you know things happen, you need to be prepared and reasonable if you know what I’m saying.Y’all have a good summer on the water.-Steve
We are brand new to boating. Have had a great experience so far. Lots of attentive staff who have been great at helping us take off and dock (still learning!). They’ll run out when they see us coming and help with lines/ docking. Courteous and helpful.
I have had dealings with yards from SW Harbor Maine to Key West FL and NEVER have I experienced a lower level of competency and honesty. The overwhelming majority have been positive (if expensive) experiences. I couldnt possibly overstate how bad this yard is. ANY option near or far would be a better option.
It been a great experience working with George and his crew . I nice when everyone keep you informed of what going on with your project.
I was having trouble with getting anyone in the Charleston area to even provide me with an estimate for my canvas. When I contacted Charleston City Boatyard, I promptly received a phone call, George set up an appointment to provide an estimate and I quickly received an estimate for a new Bimini top. The price was reasonable and the new top was installed in time for my annual Memorial Day sail. I addition to installing the new Bimini top, George also suggested some changes to make it much easier to get in and out of the cockpit whether to get on the dock or to go forward on the deck and raised the top so I wasnt bumping my head. The top was not a bargain, but considering the entire job, the price was a great deal!
Im a boat transporter and can appreciate the care and attention to details these guys give to all the boats. The entire staff is professional and courteous to all the customers. They really know what it takes to prepare and load a boat for transport on the highway. I highly recommend their services.
Looked long and hard for a place to haul out and store our sailboat for the winter months.Found the Boatyard and was extremely happy about it.Its a little out of the way, but the yard is super-clean (even a mat under each boat!), staff are very friendly and professional, and facilities are excellent. Power and dehumidifier provided by the yard, and free overnights on the dock while you get ready. So much better than most others.
Really happy with the service here. I brought my 22 Catalina here to have the hull sanded and painted. Got the boat back looking great with some good advice from the folks there on maintenance. Entire job was done quicker & cheaper than they had estimated. Definitely coming back here again.
Excellent boatyard!! Top quality work, always professional. Very accommodating and such a joy to work with their employees. Always courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. One of the best boatyards around.
Great Place.
Charleston City boatyard professionally hauled and blocked my boat for a DIY project. When I found a bad cutlass bearing, they went above and beyond to get it repaired so that I could still make my scheduled launch date. Everyone who works there is very courteous and helpful. I would highly recommend Charleston City boatyard for any project.
Cant say Im happy. We had a lot of work done while also working on the boat myself. The main issue, overheating, was never taken care of..... but we still had a bill that was pretty hefty. Had new vinyl done of the inside of a hardtop. I am now contracting to have it done again... this time right, a year later. I pointed out that it was a POS job and the yard said they would discuss it. That was the last I ever heard, so maybe theyre still discussing it. Oh, and they missed the schedule after five phone calls to make sure the boat would b ready for the rental captain. It wasnt. Had to reschedule vacation and the captain. I would personally never take our boat there again. Nice folks but at the end of the day, the important work wasnt done, some of the work that was done wasnt done right, and it wasnt done on time. Not sure what other criteria to judge on but that was our experience.
The City Boatyard hauled and blocked my boat very professionally, and allowed me to repaint the bottom unimpeded, at a very reasonable DIY rate. When I found that my encapsulated keel was leaking, they ground it down, allowed it to dry, and completed the fiberglass work in less than a week! They did all the work I was looking for and used less than half of my planned budget to do so. Very impressed. Will return!
Most beautiful Ballpark Ive seen. Over engineered for 2018 - but the park will be great for years to come...you can park car and walk 20 and sit on edge of the water.
Had a very good experience here with my Grand Banks 42 Classic, couldnt have asked for more helpful people, and all of the repairs I had done here were extremely well done. When I came back everything was as I left it and cleaned up nicely where they had done the work.
We took our 56 foot Flybridge Cruiser (with twin Volvo IPS 600s) to Charleston from New York for the winter and took advantage of the Charleston City Marinas Winter special. We arrived in Charleston with a long list of maintenance issues that I was hoping to have addressed during the winter so the boat would be in top shape for our April departure. Bill Darden and John Miles from the maintenance team absolutely crushed the to-do list. Most of the work was done right at our slip at the City Marina. While we were back home in New York, they also arranged for a captain to bring it ten miles to the Boatyard for annual haul out and bottom maintenance. Then came the bad news.... an inspection of my Volvo Pod drives uncovered the cause of a vibration I had been experiencing, and the required repair was very involved. The good news is that Bill was able to coordinate this repair with Superior Diesel (a MAJOR local Volvo authorized repair facility) and they got me squared away. The boat is now running GREAT. If this problem had been discovered in New York... upon going back in the water in May.... I would have had to get in line and probably would have lost half of the summer season trying to get this fixed. Instead, all of my issues were addressed during the coldest months of the winter and we are heading home with a boat that is in better shape than when she was new. I also appreciated that they were very communicative and I could text with them regularly to get status updates. Nobody knows your boat better than you, the owner, and unlike many other service techs, these guys seem to really get that and appreciated input and discussion when troubleshooting problems..or at least they were good at pretending ;-). I highly recommend these guys! (And cruising to Charleston for winter service is a lot closer than bringing the boat all the way to Florida).
George and the team are winners. Please win with them
Staff was friendly and helpful. Great place for DIY.
Charleston City Boatyard fixed our botched repower. We rattled and shook our way to Charleston from Georgetown. Oliver Humphries (service manager) assigned Barry Mercer to make it right. Eventhough access is difficult, Barry kept climbing back in the hole until the engine mounts, transmission coupling, shaft, stuffing box, cutlass bearing, and propeller were all set correctly. Barrys cruising experience and high standards of quality were comforting. Oliver was thorough and fair with the billing while keeping us on schedule. There was an overall positive feeling to the bustling yard. During a couple challenging decision points, you could see Barry consult with some other experienced folks (Chuck, Bill and Jay). Donnie runs the travelift. Before hauling us, hed printed a schematic of the hull. All these things combine to make a successful boat repair.
Travel lift broke today before our scheduled lift off time, but the guys there made every effort to fix the travel lift and did. They got us unloaded and on our. Thanks
Great friendly people 1st class work
Boat is still broke. Bad day. No fix in sight.
Seems like a well runned Marina Boat Storage
