This was a horrible experience. I was in back to back weddings and pressed for time because of COVID, so I went here per Bella Bridesmaids suggestion. It was very expensive. The first dress frayed everywhere alterations were made and she altered a part of the dress that we never discussed. For the second dress, the hem fell out immediately after putting the dress on. I had paid $90 for just the hem. Not to mention, the woman warned me that the bridesmaids should help each other with the zippers, so they don’t rip. That shows the confidence in the work she had done. I will never go back here.

The worst and most stressful part of the wedding processes was working with Stitch Witch on my dress alterations. They were rude and unprofessional. The woman working on my dress was late on the deadline and when it was finally ready, it was incredibly wrinkled, the straps were lopsided, and it was in no way ready for wedding day. I had to leave it longer to be fixed by another person. Also, a staff member lost a $200 belt that I asked to be sewn on and they all tried to blame me for misplacing it and said I must have taken it home. She ended up finding it in the store after my wedding. I was compensated for the belt out of a staff members personal pocket. The bridal salon where I bought my dress is no longer recommending Stitch Witch to their brides because so many women have reported issues.

Pressed and steam the bride’s dress and matron of honor dress the day of the wedding. They were extremely wrinkled from the trip to the destination venue. They did a great job! Great price.

Aside from having to pay more in alterations for my bridesmaids dress than what the dress itself cost, they pulled a solid and turned it around quickly for me. Alterations were done as expected and hoped for.

My wedding dress was altered by Mrs. Roberta and she did a PHENOMENAL job! She was able to complete my alterations for a reasonable price considering my dress was entirely beaded from top to bottom. It fit me perfectly. I bought a veil online that unfortunately did not match the color of my dress; Mrs. Roberta handmade a veil for me! Her work is undeniably the best in Charleston and she shows a genuine care towards her customers.

I called to ask a few question about how far in advance I need to bring a bridesmaid dress in to get altered. I also inquired about price just to get a general idea about how much I would be spending. The woman who I spoke with my incredibly rude and difficult. Instead of just answering my questions kindly and respectfully she had a sassy comment in regards to every question I had. Needless to say, I will not be using Stitch Witch for my alterations.

I had to call the store because google maps did not lead me to the right location for the entrance. Woman on the phone cut me off before I could complete a sentence. When I got inside, there was one pleasant young lady at the front to greet me. After that, everything went downhill. I was told by one of the seamstresses “just go back there and try it on” in a very rude tone. In addition to the fact that I’d never been to this location, which made it difficult to know what “back there” means, as there are four doors and an array of other things in the back of the shop. After having to ask again where to go, I was shouted at from the front of the shop to “just use the door on my left” (rude tone continuing). After I got the dress on, I explained the places where it was too big and that I would need it taken in. The women insisted that the top of the dress, which was sagging off of my shoulders, did not need to be taken in. Every time I tried to explain how the dress should look (per other bridesmaids whose dresses fit correctly and the photo provided by the bridal shop), I was rudely cut off and even told “I know what your dress is supposed to look like, you don’t need to show me any pictures!” At this point I was completely fed up and decided to reciprocate their rudeness as I got back into my clothes and gathered my dress. At which point I was told by one of these old miserable women “I won’t get far in life” with my attitude! As a Clemson graduate I find that laughable, but apparently my appearance contributed a great deal to the way I was treated today. This place needs some type of crash course on customer service. These women literally battled to have the last word in an argument with me until my feet hit the sidewalk outside. Ridiculous and unprofessional to say the absolute least. I was referred here by Bella Bridesmaids Bridal Boutique, however if I EVER hear anyone in the Charleston area say they are in search of a seamstress, I will be sure to tell them to go anywhere BUT stitch witch. This was an unnecessarily draining and unpleasant encounter!!!

Would not recommend - terrible attitude and skills. I used Stitch Witch through the White on Daniel Island where I purchased the dress and naively didn’t realize I had other options. At my first fitting after their initial alterations, the hem was very visibly uneven. They were supposed to correct and send back to White. After a confusing phone call with them a few weeks later they seemed unclear on what needed to be done. I reminded them and asked if I should come in again - they were adamant I did not and were borderline rude. When I went to pick up at White the hem was still messed up - an expensive alteration because of the lace. Jodi at White had to fix herself in a matter of hours because of my bridal portraits. After all was said and done I also noticed they changed the look of the dress on the back from shoddy alterations on the bodice. The bodice never really fit right. My biggest regret about my wedding was the alterations. Go elsewhere!

The experience with Stitch Witch seems to vary widely depending on who you work with. I purchased my wedding dress from Bridals by Jodi in North Charleston and they referred me to Stitch Witch to make the alterations to my dress. Since we were already working with them, we decided to also take my sisters bridesmaid dress to them. For my dress, I worked primarily with Mary and had a great experience. She did an awesome transformation of the top of my dress and I always felt that she was taking my questions and concerns seriously. My sister, on the other hand, was primarily working with one of the other women at Stitch Witch and had a terrible experience with her. My sister brought in a dress that fit well but wanted the neckline changed from a high round neck to a scoop neck. During the initial fitting, my sister told her seamstress that the pins seemed to be placed too widely and she didnt want the neck that wide, but the woman brushed aside her concerns and just told us that she knew what she was doing. When we returned for the next fitting, the neck was too wide, to the extent that it was sagging on my sisters shoulders and Stitch Witch charged more to fix the shoulders of the dress. After this was fixed, we took the dress home, where my mother had to make further alterations because the neck was noticeably uneven with one side higher than the other. On the occasions when this seamstress was present for my fittings, she would talk over me any time I tried to point out something I wanted to change in my dress and when I asked my family for opinions, she would jump in and loudly say that it looked perfect and nothing else needed to be changed before my family could say anything.

There is not much these ladies cant do! After being told at other places that something cant be done, I am so glad that I kept looking. They were able to alter a dress that everyone else said could not be altered. I have seen some negative reviews but the ladies were straight forward, very pleasant and helpful. Sometimes being straight forward can put some people off but I personally prefer to hear the truth rather than be told what I want to hear and then be disappointed. They do have a longer lead time but that is because they seem to do the majority of alterations in Charleston which says a lot. Definitely recommend these ladies for any and all alteration needs!

I came in with my daughter a few weeks ago to have a dress altered. I was helped by Julia who was completely rude and unprofessional. I should have read the reviews before I came in since they all say the same thing. Please do not waste your time here. Plenty of other alteration shops! Needs new staff!

“Witch” is right. I brought in 2 curtains to be hemmed and the woman I spoke with was extremely RUDE & condescending. It seemed like she actually did not even want my business and quoted me almost quadruple what other shops had with a two week wait time. Her negativity was so strong I opted to not even bother leaving my items. Do not recommend, the name says it all.

Ive read some negative reviews, but take into consideration that there are bridezillas who are on a mission to stomp anyone who doesnt tailor to their every unreasonable whim...My time with Roberta and Mary has been nothing short of a blast! My appointments with them have been so fun. Theyre great people and great at what they do--they transformed my wedding gown into the perfect dress. Their work is immaculate. No alteration was too challenging. Professionals all the way, too! They are amazing at what they do, and I cant recommend them enough.

For the most part, everyone was rude, and it was grossly overpriced. The cost to hem and take in my dress was literally the cost OF my dress. They made fun of me for looking like a teen, and made me feel stupid for not knowing what to do right off the bat when I came in. Even if their work was decent, I wouldnt feel right giving them my money based on the way I was treated. This is Charleston, were supposed to be friendly here.

Steer clear of the vile lady sitting on the left side of the store that sucks on a e-cig all day and you will be fine. Four day turn around on a cuff for a new pair of trousers. Quoted $18 on the phone (by e-cig lady) and charged $16 in person by Natasha (who was very professional and easy to work with).

Dress was not hemmed properly so that I could not walk, I had to kick the dress so I did not fall. The buttons that ran down the back had the elastic loops put on them so the zipper would not show. Instead of doing it right over all of the bottons it was randomly done so the buttons pointed in every direction. It looked horrible in my pictures! The bustle broke not even 30 minutes into the reception so I had to carry around the dress all night. The Stitch Witch had my dress a total of 3 times and it was still not done properly. They had it still the week of my wedding! VERY STRESSFUL!Roberta was very rude (not short or blut). The first time I picked it up she would not let me try it on for them to make sure they did everything correctly because it was 4:30 and they close at 5. She also would not listen to me when I had issues after my bridal portrait session claiming that she knew more than me. She hadnt even seen me in the dress since the alterations!
