I had a flat tire in the parking lot. The manager and another employee went out of their way to help me. You just dont see this kind of help/service now a days. I am sure these employees were busy with running the store yet they put my needs first. Cant say enough good things about these folks.

The staff is friendly and the stock boy I believe named Keegan went out of his way to help me get the product I needed amd loaded into my vehicle and had to even go out of his way to get the product I needed from inside the store because I didnt want what was sitting out side. I appreciated him and his help.

We now live in Oklahoma & miss Rural King. There is a similar store in our area called Atwoods but we always visit RK when we return to IL. There bulk nuts, bolts, screws, etc are good quality for what we need & a deal compared to other retailers. Everyone was helpful, good customer service.

Nice big store with lots of stuff

Had me on hold for 20mins. I decided to drive to the store and made it there while still on hold. Never have anything in stock and dont want to be bother to help you with anything.

I could live in this store because it has everything I love.. plants, boots, funny tshirts, candy, baby chicks, feed, seed, e.t.c. =)

I love the fact I can bring my dog into the store.

I have nothing to say but good things Of the store but I wish the customers were a little moreConsiderate of the public. I’ve never seen anyone wear a mask in there. And I’m always the outsider because I do wear one. Everyone always gives me very dirty looks but I feel like as long as the employees have to wear one I will still wear one.

Love rural king they always have a great selection of outdoor things especially garden related. We enjoy going there just to look around when we are in the area. The kids love that they always have free popcorn as you enter the store, they also have free coffee for those that like it. Their prices tend to be the best in the area as well.

Love this store. Only wish they had more coupons or discounts (without needing their credit card) for the things I buy monthly.

I visit Charleston and Mattoon stores. I love these stores. I buy mostly bird food for my outside feathered friends. But I also love their greeting cards, large array of candy and snacks, spring flowers, household things, well...love it all!!! Love the chickens too!!!! Thank you.

Its hit or miss with customer service being friendly or ignoring/avoiding you or obviously annoyed if you ask them a question. I only go there because theyre the only store locally that carries my dogs treats and food. However I do think it says a lot about any business that is constantly hiring. This Rural King is always looking to fill positions.

I like this store, but several times over the past months, Ive walked in and people are NOT wearing masks. There is a sign on the door that mandates the wearing of masks in the store, but apparently management thinks its more important for them to make a dollar, and not offend a patron by asking them to mask up. In the mean time Coles County is not doing well in controlling Covid 19, so Im glad youre making your $, Rural King at the risk to others.

Farm and home is a great way to describe rural king. In general if you cant get it there you may not really need it.

Had a few good clearance itemsDont go to this Rural King often due to distance from home but was happy with store.

The Farm & Livestock Manager of the store is very rude and disrespectful!! My aunt who is a senior citizen asked him for help and he lied to her about not having a product just because he didnt want to do his job and help a customer. When she finally found it herself she showed it to him and he snapped at her for finding it. When she asked to speak the the store manager the cashier was rude. She went out to her car and called to speak to a manager and they hung up on her. I have had my own issues with the same kid and will not be returning to this particular rural king

I get my bird feeder stuff there because of the readable price.

They have just about everything you could need for any project. Me and my wife buy our cat food here. Very good selection all around and staff is kind.

They have bunnies! And ducks! And of course lots of products for all of your rural needs! The store also provides lovely amenities like complimentary popcorn and coffee. Definitely a nice stop for any shopping trip in Charleston.

Used to really enjoy going into the Charleston Rural King. Now that they have rearranged the store I just avoid it. I enjoyed having the tools, hardware, etc up front so I didnt have to walk through clothing, shoes and groceries just to get stuff I need. ACE hardware is a bit pricier but much easier in and out service.

Mattoon store didnt have them even tho they said they did when we called!! But Charleston store had them!!!

Sad to see this main store closing. Moving to the mall is a HUGE mistake in this former customers opinion. I wont be going there. Its been great but I hate malls. So long Rural King.Well, I was wrong! The new store is pretty darn good. Much better than I expected. Im glad I decided to give it a try! Excellent bolt selection.

To Whom It May Concern:Yesterday I went to the Charleston Rural King and purchased 30 bags of mulch. While at the counter my clerk called for help to load. I heard someone respond that they had it. Well.....I waited at least 10 min and no one came. I was getting mad so I started to load it myself. Keep in mind I am 59 years old and in decent shape and it certainly did not hurt me to load it, but I thought that part of your customer service is to help customers load. I could have gone back in to tell her to call again, but I needed to try to stay calm and it was not her fault. Actually I did go back in and dropped the slip off that was to go to the helper and told her no one showed up and I loaded myself. If it helps to identify who was working when I was there; my slip is timed at 5:40 PM on July 9 2014., Oh, by the way, I did only get the 30 bags I purchased, but I could have taken much more as no one was even around. I am normally not a complainer and am very independent, but I feel your customer service is really lacking. I do know of others that have mentioned your store as well. I am hesitant to return to your store especially if I need help. You know..word of mouth is not very good advertising especially if it is negative.

Definitely become less of a farm store and more of a typical department store. The clothes and boots seem to be taking over more and more. The hardware and paint seems to be half what it used to be. Pet supplies is more than sufficient though. Cant complain about that. But on several occasions, I have left disappointed because I wasnt able to find a part that I had purchased several times before. Employees are all friendly and helpful.

They have the best prices for dog foods! You can get a big 40 lbs. bag of Rural King dog food for less then $30! They also provide free popcorn every time you shop there. Not to mention you are allowed to bring your dogs which is awesome!!

They have a very nice selection reasonable prices and most of all staff that can actually help and assist you in finding what you need. People are glad to help with a smile.

The store is almost the same way.. the employees seem nice and very helpful the guy that helped me was very knowledgeable about auto batteries and the warranty that comes with it. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is the parking lot layout. Just dumb

Good store, but i dont think much of the lawn mower battery rebate i bought three of them last year and i never did get my rebate after sending it in called about it two times but that didnt do any good either
