This place has your essentials, and the people around can be friendly, but the shop owner is not particularly patient or friendly, as opposed to the much larger oriental store further up 29 where the lady is in fact nice and happy to help with whatever you need. I give three instead of two though because many of the products here are good, such as the Thai tea sachets Im now in love with. TLDR: Come here for a quick product run, not for the service.
Nice a nice and professional Men on customer service.
Do y’all have rice cakes? or tteokbokki? or black bean noodles? trying to see before i travel a hour to get some
This is my favorite supermarket when it comes to making an Asian cultured dinner for my family! Great people and they have all the required ingredients for my recipes :)
We love this market many little specialty items make sure you look in the deep freezers lots of goodies and fresh vegetables and produce everybody is very friendly and beautiful store look forward to going again soon
Always fresh, well stocked, and well organized. I love that I can get a pound of fresh bean sprouts already bagged and ready to go! Great produce, seafood, and a variety of ingredients for different Asian cuisines. Also great for reasonably priced bowls and cooking implements.
I was specifically looking for a wide rice noodle, they had none but did have 76 varieties of thin. Their fresh baby bok choy saved the day. Please dont pick up a bag of fortune cookies...rancid and stale...my 4 year old was not happy to taste that mistake.
Friendly staff. Great selection of products.
They have a wonderful selection of grocery items and were a huge help for the curry soup I am making.
Nice little store. You will find most of the things you need that an ordinary grocery store wont carry. I you like instant noodles you will appreciate the variety here.
An overwhelming amount of Asian ingredients, staff is always friendly and willing to assist. Great prices too!
People are nice, lots of great asian staples, but no umeboshi? Very sad about that, since it seems like you have to buy it online for $20 instead of $6 in a store.
My goto place for my Asian food needs. Its a small local business...the owner has never had an issue getting any products Ive requested that he didnt already have in stock. He goes and gets fresh produce every Thursday and usually arrives back between 6pm-7pm. That is when the best selection of food and produce arrive so go then! 😁
I stopped by the Asian Market at the recommendation of a friend. It was definitely a unique experience for me. While I only bought some ginger tea, I plan to go again and try some other food items.
The best Asian market in town. I found almost everything I need with reasonable prices. The shop owner is friendly, can speak multiple languages including Chinese and Vietnamese.
Used to be a great store until Cville Oriental. They essentially sell the exact same stuff - genuine Chinese food/ingredients/condiments. But this place is way smaller, and way sketchier. The one reason that I go there is because during some weekday nights it closes later than Oriental.
They require masks and practice social distancing. Everything is clean. They had everything I was looking for.
Great place to shop if you’re looking to make your own Asian food
I really like this market. If you go on a Friday thats usually the freshest their veggies come in the night before. They have a good selection of fresh veggies, cold items, meats and assortment of Asian items including Korean, Chinese, some Japanese, and maybe Vietnamese if Im remembering correctly. Theres another Asian market in Charlottesville thats primarily Chinese but I dont like the parking. I like this market cause its easy to park, the veggies are fresh, I can go there after I go to Costco and rarely went to other markets if I went here and Costco I usually had all that I needed. I also like the cashier on Fridays as thats my primary shopping day, she was always very helpful, friendly, unlike some Asian markets where they just look at you and dont really say anything - and Im part Chinese but I was born in Hawaii so I like people to be a little friendly! Anyway, when Im back in Charlottesville or if my hubby is going by and I cant find something fresh where we are now, Ill send him there and hope he knows the difference between the various Asian veggies. Love the kim chee, aloe drink, tofu puffs - all in the back refrigerated section as well as the good selection of tofu. And the meats and frozen items dont look old like some Asian markets that sadly dont pay attention to expiration dates. Oh and they have a frozen section that has great convenience items and mochi ice cream!
If you want chinese food item, this is the place. I bought a packet of green chili from them. Those are really hot.
Not comprehensive by any means, but as good as you would expect from an Asian store in Charlottesville.
Basic groceries available but not much variety. Good for a quick trip.
Love the Asian Market and Mr Song! 👍🏼
Fresh rice noodle!!
Expensive but poor quality, not enough goods, unkind, not clean, not fresh food.
Drive from Lynchburg each month to stock up, usually has everything we need to made our asian meals. Also very fair prices!
