May 22 was our first visit to this craft distillery and it did not disappoint!Super friendly and knowledgeable staff that spent time explaining the spirits. Creative, unique, AND beautiful cocktails! All in an enjoyable atmosphere. Excited to return again soon!

This was a very awesome place to stop in for drinks, the service was amazing and the cocktails were to die for. I got the if a tree fails” refreshing can really taste the peach and blackberry. I’m not usually a gin fan but that was dope!!

We knew very little about the distilling process going into this, let alone the history or science behind craft spirits. We both found the brief lecture at the beginning fascinating and really enjoyed the step-by-step tour of Vitae Spirits Distillery. The tastings were delicious :) 10/10 would highly recommend!

Fantastic, creative cocktails using in-house distilled spirits perfect for a quick 1-2 cocktails before dinner. Cocktails and “Poptails” (popsicle versions of their delicious cocktails) are also sold to-go (in addition to indoor seating). Unfortunately due to COVID-19 precautions, Vitae is serving their tastings out of plastic cups.For cocktails, we highly recommend the (1) Pain Suppressor, (2) Cheer You Up, and (3) By The Fire.

An absolutely fantastic experience. Ian is a great host. I am not a fan of spirits but Vitae made me realize I was drinking the wrong ones. My wife and I were brown away by the knowledge we gained.

TJ and D were incredibly knowledgeable about all things Virginia Spirits. I had a flight and Silk Sour cocktail. Everything was phenomenal. The coiffed liqueur was incredible. They also make their own Bloody Mary mix and if you’ve never had a gin Bloody Mary, order one, stat! Both gentlemen were more than willing to share their knowledge about spirits and seem quite eager to find you something you’ll enjoy. Highly recommend a stop here if you’re on the mall for any reason.

Amazing Charlottesville distillery of great Gin & Rum!! I thought I didnt even like Gin until we stopped into Vitae and on a whim!! The owners and staff are very knowledgeable about their field and we learned a lot about their business and other interesting topics while enjoying some tastings/libations. Definitely put this place on your map to visit. Cozy and clean interior with a cool comfortable vibe. Thanks Ian, TJ and the Vitae crew for an awesome experience. Honestly the best Rum I have had, the staff is very knowledgeable and the price is right. I would pay twice as much for this quality.

My husband and I had a great time sampling spirits, cocktails, and a poptail at Vitaes downtown location on Wednesday, 5/28. We enjoyed everything that we had and talking to the staff. We brought home the smoked distillers reserve rum and orange liqueur. The passion fruit daiquiri poptail was like a fla-vor-ice for grown ups and the rum riff on a Penicillin was so interesting. They also have spirit free versions of the pops for those brining kiddos. The also told us where to find Vitae near us and that we can order online.

Owner was very nice and answered all of our questions. Drinks were very good too. Worth the visit here.

Great, up and coming distillery! They know what they are doing and working to do it right. Great spirits and great people! The gins were fantastic and the smoked rum was unlike anything Ive ever seen.

Visited the new tasting room near the downtown walking mall in Charlottesville! Awesome space and awesome service! Super modern and sleek vibe. We went on a Wednesday and had the whole place to ourselves. I had a frozen cocktail - a tropicolada - which was served like a flavor ice! Super yummy. My husband loved his flight and especially the gin. Definitely worth a visit!

TJ was not only informative but was a delight and was able to venerate my curiosity not just for alcohol but for art and environmental personality as well he was able to create a mood and a setting that was just so welcoming and friendly The alcohol there could not be more delightfully based in just such notes and tones of taste but just the aesthetic of the setting as well as the environmental umph thank you so much for such a delightful tasting I look forward to coming back from Fredericksburg numerous more times and the art on the walls was amazing I still could not stop staring at that chameleon

What a gem of a distillery, not only in Charlottesville, but in Virginia! The spirits are absolutely delicious and certainly unique. Im usually not a huge gin fan, but absolutely loved this one! TJ and Ian were awesome and did a fantastic job providing us with an excellent experience. We told friends about it; they went the next day and also had a spectacular experience. Cant wait to go back next time were in Cville!

Great distillery in Charlottesville!!!! TJ and D were very knowledgeable about all of the Vitae products. I had the “Get Figgy With It” and it was amazing!!!! TJ described it as “autumn in a glass.” This was such an accurate description. The atmosphere of the establishment itself was very chill and laid back. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone I meet. I will be returning as soon as possible. If you are thinking about going here, don’t think about it just go!! Thank you TJ and D! You guys rock!!!!

First time visitor. TJ was very knowledgeable and friendly. I was able to meet Ian as well. Fantastic Rums and Gin! I also really liked their Paw Paw liquor... Picked up some of each to enjoy at home.

The liquor is good, but there is a deceitful employee that works here. I went for curbside pickup and the employee didnt bring me back the correct change. Upon notifying him of his mistake, he lied and said he gave back more than I had in my hand. Not cool.Update: Transaction took place in May. Cash was exchanged, so owner is lying and not keeping proper records.

My husband and I recently attended the 2-day distilling class at Vitae Spirits Distillery. We are both novices to distilling spirits, Ian (the founder) presented a broad-brush distilling class that was very informative and loads of fun. The high light was having the opportunity to distill a small batch of run, and evaluate through a tasting of the spirit to better understand how run. This was a great class, which we would love to take again, great deal of fun, and Ian was genuinely interested in sharing information about distilling and the industry in general. Will recommend this class to everyone for a fun get away weekend in Charlottesville at Vitae Spirits. Everyone at Vitae is friendly and genuinely want all their guest to have a good time having a tasting, or trying their wonderful cocktails, best Rum, we are hooked! Great service, the bartender was extremely knowledgeable about how the liquor is made and their Barrel Aged Rum and their Old Tom Gin are superb. Would highly suggest a visit!

Great experience and atmosphere! TJ was great to talk to and knowledgeable. Very unique liquors and cocktails. Would definitely recommend and go back to try other cocktails and to have more of the liquors they offer. Really giving a great name to spirits!

This place has the best rum Ive ever tasted. Their distillation process is very meticulous and its clear the owner knows everything about the process. Great atmosphere and you can go to Ace after a tasting!

What a great find we stumble into. Tj was great, very knowledgable. Vitaes spirits are delicious and unique. I really like that you can sip them as is or on ice. Definitely will be back to take a tour. Excited that we took home the coffee liquor and orange liquor.

My husband and I were visiting Charlottesville for a day and decided to stop in here for a tasting. TJ did a great job explaining the distilling process and tasting notes for each of the spirits. This was the first rum distillery weve been to in the US, and it did not disappoint. We ended up taking a bottle of the coffee liqueur with us, which is strong but still balanced and not too sweet. Excellent experience overall!

My husband and I are not rum or gin drinkers, and while were probably still not gin drinkers, the rum was exceptional. (Gin is its own beast, nothing against Vitaes) We got the groupon for the tour, tasting and cocktail and it was one of the best deals Ive found yet on groupon. The owner and crafter of the spirits is a retired mircobiologist from Univ. of Virginia. His background allows for a knowledge filled tour that can peak interests of all walks and while taking approx 45 mins, NEVER got boring, but only more interesting. Even my non-drinker parents got something out of it.I wasnt particularly moved by anything I saw on the cocktail list, so I told the bartender I like the gold rum, fresh citrus but not something sweet He asked if I prefer sour, I said yes, He said I got you and made me something he called the Bizzaro! It was awesome! 5 Stars!The knowledge and the customer service are exceptional. Id say the only thing they could do better is serve food, but they collaborate with the BBQ joint next door!Great afternoon out, awesome gift option, great for trying something new!
