I scheduled and service was completed my annual furnace cleaning and inspection. In addition, I was experiencing an issue with my A/C not running on my generator and Joe was able to diagnose and offer instructions on how to address these future issues should they arise.Its a pleasure to do business with an honest and professional company because they seem to be a dying breed..

Noticed a red light indicator outside our generator and called Hutton for maintenance services; they quickly properly analyzed and corrected the issue; now we’re back to the proper green light and our generator is in service.

Joe charged me an additional one year maintenance fees after I paid for my services. He promised to come over to inspect my AC unit for proper functionality from time to time and voices there’s no need to call for any appointment. I believed him so I forgot about it and didn’t call, as a matter of fact, I didn’t have any issues with the unit until after one year, the unit stopped cooling so I made an appointment with him and it took over 2 weeks in the summer to show up. After few inspection of the unit he told me lots of things needs to be fixed and trust me it was not cheap. When I asked him about the warranty service he charged me for the maintenance of my unit, he told me it’s expired and I needed to get my unit fixed and purchase a new warranty. I was upset for defrauding me. To add insult to injury he also got upset with me for asking him about the warranty. He left without fixing my unit and left us perish in the extreme heat. Those of you out there, don’t become a victim. When they tell you to purchase additional services to safeguard your appliances, deny it. They are quick to charge you but extremely reluctant to deliver. POOR SERVICE, HORRIBLE ATTITUDE AND ZERO STAR IF I HAD THE OPTION TO. LOOK FOR A BETTER SERVICE ELSEWHERE AND SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.

There are just some companies that go above and beyond to do things right and Hutton is a great example of that. They are responsive and organized when it came time to schedule an appointment. They were thorough and accurate with all estimates, no surprises at all. I love that they text you the technicians information before they come over so you know who to expect. They did a great job and at a great price! Everyone weve ever had out from Hutton has been the definition of professional and respectful. We had Joseph over to get an estimate for hooking up our garage to power. He was friendly, patient and answered all my questions. I was not happy to learn that the whole garage must be rewired, but we have avoided a serious fire hazard.

This visit was a consultation for doorbell wiring. Great customer service and communication before and during visit.

After waiting almost an hour and a half I called the company to confirm that they were coming today because it was getting late and I was reassured it would 100% be today about 15 minutes later I got a call from a gentleman saying he can’t get a hold of the on-call guy so apparently they knew that they haven’t been able to get a hold of anybody for over an hour and a half and just about two hours later I found out that I have no service coming and I need to find another company on a Saturday night. Very poor customer service, not dependable and unprofessional. They should have called me 30 minutes after not being able to get ahold of the man who’s on call.

We worked with Tyler to have several different kinds of light fixtures installed indoors and outdoors in a home we own outside of Norfolk. He was very knowledgeable and efficient, he wore his mask the entire time he worked, and he was very patient when an elderly neighbor asked to speak with him in the middle of his work with us before she had to return indoors.We chose Hutton Power & Light in the first place after our landlord in Norfolk chose them to fix our giant HVAC in our rental in Norfolk. Joe Hutton was incredibly patient and thorough amidst the heat and training a younger associate.Their staff communicates very well by phone or email, too. Each experience we’ve had proves their consistency and how easy it is to work with them.We’ll definitely choose them for future work.

During our generator install they needed to leave for the night (it’s a multi-day process) we “caught” them on our house cameras cleaning the entire driveway after their day was over. I had my dryer vent cleaned due to a blockage. Although the person who came was on time and polite. He did not solve my problem. He offered to handle the secondary cleaning of the inside portion of my dryer and replace a $20.00 part for 240% more then what I had already paid. I talked to others and according to them, the secondary cleaning offer should have been done from the start. When I expressed my concerns with the representative on the phone, she made it VERY clear she did not want to hear it.Additional: This morning, a manager called me and apologized for what occurred. He gave a decent explanation and refunded me for the original job. I was please with how my concerns were addressed.

Joe H. came out to my Virginia Beach rental property today (Sunday) to check out why the A/C wasn’t cooling the house, per my Tenants complaint. Joe came out and did an awesome job! He explained the prices and layout well of each one. My area is prone to brownouts so I wanted a surge protector on the whole house. He came out and installed it. He also answered any questions I had and explained it well. Sure enough, later on in the week, I had a brownout. I checked my a/c unit. Still going strong!

Dont waste your time. They were listed as certified Nest Pro installers, so I called on July 6 to make an appointment for a relatively simple doorbell install. I was told the soonest appointment available was July 31, and that a technician would contact me to do a virtual Zoom estimate. That never happened, but I was contacted around July 17 and asked to provide pictures for a virtual estimate. I provided them and never heard back. Fast forward to July 31 when the technician didnt call or show. I contacted the office an hour after the scheduled appointment time and was advised that today the technicians were running behind, and that this would merely be a visit to provide an estimate, not an actual install. Thanks for wasting a month of my time

Hutton sent Tyler out to take a look at my dryer outlet. He quickly figured out I had a faulty outlet and that it needed to be replaced. He explained everything and got the parts needed to replace it, and had it wrapped up in about 2 hours.While he was there he took a look at some of the outlets in the house that weren’t grounded and gave me a quote on getting them GFCI protected. Was able to get them scheduled to come out a week later and get the work done.Overall they were very responsive and able to get a worker out to do the repair. They did quick, but quality work in a timely manner. Very impressed with Tyler and the work he did. Will call Hutton back if I have any other electrical issues I need take care of.

She was quite short with me, which disappointed me, because I called looking for help after seeing so many positive reviews here. Then I carried on living my life with zero expectations. Inquired about front doorbell diagnostics as our doorbell was no longer working. Our technician was: Tyler Sherman, who was polite, respectful, kind, and laugh at my corny jokes. Hutton Power & Light is an excellent company! I have used this company twice, and with great satisfaction each time. The first job was fairly minor, in that I had an exterior light installed from scratch (powered to a new switch). The second job that I had the experts at Hutton accomplish was more complex. I wanted piece of mind in the event of an extended power outage (storm related most probable cause). To this extent, I had the Hutton team install a system that allows me to connect a portable gas generator directly to my electrical distribution panel through an inlet box. Essentially all I have to do is wheel the generator out of the garage, connect cable to a power box (plug it in), start generator, and then hit a switch on the newly installed (auxiliary) power panel. The switch and new panel allow me to power 2/3s of my house. A higher rated generator would power the entire house. Essentially, in the event of a power outage, within minutes, and with very little effort, the majority of my house will have electricity. The team at Hutton are professional and experienced. I will continue to use them for future electrical needs.

Joe was very helpful and knowledgeable of the issues I presented. He was honest and upfront with my options and how to proceed. He went above and beyond and I will absolutely call them without hesitation again to solve an electrical issues.

David came by my home today to evaluate an electrical problem I have had for over a year. I was not able to find an electrician and David was referred. He is extremely courteous and professional. I am a jack of all trades myself, so when I reach out for help, its not going to be the easiest fix. Joe & Tyler where great, Joe even put up with all my questions with no problem. So, bottom line is, I would definitely call on Hutton for my next job. Too bad they dont work on Antique Triumph Motorcycles, I have one that needs some elec wiring.

Whole House Rewire & Service Upgrade:I would like to first sincerely apologize to Hutton Power & Light for releasing this review so late. They did an extraordinary job for us back in December 2019 thru the first part of January 2020 in rewiring our entire house and upgrading our service to a 200amp service while we still occupied the residence.Background: We live a 1940 Cape Cod home (approximately 1300 square feet) that is a bit dated, especially the electrical. We’ve dealt with some electrical issues shortly after we bought the home in 2007. The home consisted of old BX wire with no ground. In simpler terms, we had two-prong receptacles and brittle wiring which would crumble when manipulated. The outer jacket was the old cloth stuff that turned to dust when touched. There had been some “upgrades” throughout where newer copper wire was tied in with the old stuff. We found multiple rooms on the same circuits (i.e. bedrooms with part of kitchen) which had no rhyme or reason. Our power panel was a 100amp outdoor breaker panel, no main breaker, and not entirely weatherproof, not to mention no room for expansion. With all of this said, we have dealt with problems over the years including broken wires, frequent breaker tripping, breaker wires melting, short circuits and the inability to run higher-amp appliances on certain receptacles (i.e. vacuum, microwave).Hutton Power & Light Experience:1) Great website and social media.2) Joe, David and Tyler were professional, respectful, and downto earth guys. Great crew to have work on your home. We now have a sense of safety and security, both of which are priceless to us.12) Great sub-contractor for drywall repairs (included in our contract). The crew at Titan Home Improvement LLC were fantastic in their workmanship, cleanup and care of our home while repairing our walls.13) They were patient and flexible with us throughout the duration of the work.14) At the end of the day, the job went far better than we ever could have imagined. This was a big undertaking for them to upgrade an entire house while minimizing the impact on us while we still occupied the house. We all worked together and maintained a good relationship during our time together. This was not a task that goes without complications, but they showed us the light at the end of the tunnel...metaphorically and literally speaking.15) We are still wowed and relieved at the end result every time we flip a switch or plug into a receptacle.Thank you Hutton Power & Light and Titan Home Improvement LLC for all of your hard work and dedication!! We will definitely recommend both companies to our family and friends and would not hesitate to call upon them for future needs.

I do not like writing reviews, but I felt I had to regarding our recent experience. Joseph was our technician today. He helped us out with our AC unit which was not working properly. He arrived on time and I loved having the text to let us know he was on the way. He took the time to explain each step, answer every question, and even give some great tips. The price was fair and explained during his work and also on the invoice. If we ever need service again, well definitely be sure to give Hutton another call!
