Used to like this place and bought some stuff but the guy that runs it now has an attitude and zero customer service skills. Ill go elsewhere.

This place has a really nice feel to it and a good selection of used books. The man working there was also very helpful.

GO TO THIS BOOKSTORE. I spent 2 hours here and I could have spent more. Theres so many interesting books to look at, read lines from, and just admire. The person working was incredibly helpful, and they offer prices lower than ones you can find online. Support a local business!

Great little secondhand book store. Big cozy vibes. Large selection on the first floor and even larger on the lower floor. Grabbed 5 books for under 8 dollars!

Help this place stay alive. It’s enchanting and amazing. Used book stores are awesome and this one is particularly awesome. The owner passed away suddenly and folks are trying to keep it going in her memory. I highly recommend this place. Cash only for now while they figure out a card system.

I just moved back after 6 years. I stopped into the store and realized that I had known the owner, who recently passed. She was a wonderful light in the world, touched by the divine. I can feel her energy manifest in her store. I wish Id known her better and stayed in touch. Please support her legacy.

Heirloom is such a lovely place to while away some time. The selection is broad, the regulars are kind and welcoming, and the community feel is exactly what you hope for in a used books shop. A truly sad note is that the owner passed away recently. She had struggled with a disease for some time and it finally took her from the community she so loved. The shop is now being cared for by one of the owners closest friends. He is working to maintain the shop as a legacy to the founding matron. If you need a book or a place to simply be the person that you are, I implore you to hit up Heirloom Books...you will be supporting yourself and a community that could use it.

They have a decent sized section of discounted books. They also have several shelves of games. Surprisingly, they still have a music section.

Loved this beautiful little second hand book shop. Interesting selection, lovely first floor, and theres even more in the basement! The owner was very kind to me as well, giving me a great deal when her card machine was malfunctioning. Highly recommended!!!

This is a beautiful little space. The people are friendly. They offer free coffee. They really have a great selection for such a small place. My son loves it too. He got a hardcover mint condition, only a couple years old(so up to date) book on dinosaurs with beautiful illustrations for 5 dollars

There is not a single better bookstore on the northernmost side of Chicago than Heirloom. My fiancee and I were thoroughly shook to find a real hidden gem of an establishment. The owner was kind and helpful in finding some books we were looking for. Chelsea even played some music of our choice. At first, I was captured by the unique titles beckoning from the sidewalk. When I walked inside, I was overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of the space and the genuine warmth that permeates the environment. Imagine the feeling that Matilda has when she visits a public library for the first time, or when Belle is given unlimited access to the library in the castle. Then multiply that by amazing original artwork, add the record player in the basement, and throw in a dash of the magic of meeting Blanche (hint: she doesnt have hands) and I could spend hours every day here. Maybe Ill see you there!

Great bookstore and awesome staff! This place is the bookstore of childhood dreams seeing that it’s connected to a coffee shop by a (not entirely) secret passage, has plenty of tall stacks to get lost behind, and an old mysterious basement.

Sadly I will buy the book I am looking for elsewhere. Two days in a row I have gone to this bookstore during posted business hours. Both times the door was locked and no one was around. There was no sign indicating when or if they would reopen. I was willing to purchase outright or order the book to support a neighborhood business. And I was willing to pay a bit more to do so.

As a visitor to Chicago I was spending my day wandering around the streets around Loyola and by far this was the greatest find of the day. Affordably priced and with a great selection, this book store was great for browsing and I fond myself lost in time while perusing the titles. The ambiance and decoration of the book store perfectly matches its vibe and instills in one a sense of comfort and timelessness. The best part however was the owner. Welcoming as I entered, not only did she have an encyclopedic knowledge of her own store, but she was incredibly personable and interesting. I was given recommendations that were perfect and ended up buying 3 books because I was so pleased and it was very affordable (even though my initial idea was to just browse). I left wanting to apply for a job as much as I wanted to buy every book there. 6/5 Stars

Rush to this great bookstore if you want to enjoy the ambience of what shopping or browsing for books was like before megamarts took over. The owner is warm, gracious, and helpful. The bookstore is well-stacked and cozy. You can sit in comfortable chairs or on sofas and read while you enjoy a hot beverage and a cookie. Booklovers should support such independent shops while they can. One of the nicest little places to visit in Chicago.

Its one of the most beautiful bookstores Ive ever seen with a great collection of books and LPS.

The collection covers wide range including computer things like “Object-Oriented Programming in Common Lisp”, awesome! Very kind owner who puts her heart into the design and curation of this lovely book store.

Very warm welcome, there are many books at very interesting prices. The decoration is atypical even mystical. Very nice place where you can sit and read. The bookseller is attentive and takes care of the requests of adults and children. Not to be missed if you pass by there.
