Good coffee but pricey. Requires a vaccination to sit inside. Very unfortunate.
Love their baked goodsToday I picked up galette de Rois, which was above my expectation.Very good.Must order again next year! Also staff were very nice.2/13 Today I picked up my pre-ordered chocolate cherry sourdough bread. Was about$11.I was really lucky that I could purchase it, since it was sold out so fast online.Cacao was so thick and crust was so tasty!I’m looking forward to next special version of their cakes/bread.
It seems like doesnt matter when do you go, they are always packed. Long line and hard to find a table. Everything there is worth the trouble and wait though. They could possibly have the best croissant in the city. Look at the picture to see how perfect and evenly airy it is inside!Bread are fresh and tasty. Havent had anything subpar yet.
Some items are tasty. However, I have recently felt that all items are overly baked giving it a bitter taste. Ive tried the baguette, sourdough and challah breads. This happened on all three occasions. I love fresh baked breads over the packaged retail stuff but I might look to other places after my recent experiences. The lemon lavender tea cake was really good when I tried it a few months ago and would definitely go back for that item whenever they have it in stock. Ive actually liked everything here other than their breads.
Super tasty cafe with great pastries and coffee, but very pricy and smaller portions than before
Coffee was clean and balanced. The Bread Pudding was an excellent choice for breakfast because it wasnt overly sweet like a dessert-based version. The seating was plentiful on both floors but filled up by mid-morning (it was a Saturday) with a lot of families and people with laptops. Ill definitely be back.
Really good stuff here, most recently tried their Pineapple upside down sticky bun. It was amazing!
Easy order ahead service. My order was ready in 5 minutes. They have a safe and easy walk up window and are not currently allowing indoor seating. I got the cold brew with oat milk. It was perfectly balanced and I didn’t even need any sweetener. The blueberry sourdough muffin was tasty as well!
Note: this review is solely based on pastry and coffee. I did not order anything else.I came here to kill an hour on a Sunday afternoon. It looked like a nice spot with plenty of seating and good pastries. There was indeed plenty of seating, but everything else ended up disappointing. My order of drip coffee and almond croissant added up to ~$9.50. The croissant was 4.75, which means the 12 oz drip coffee was ~$4 something (im not sure how much the tax was). I instantly had a little sticker shock, but I was planning on getting a refill anyways so I figured I would get my moneys worth. The almond croissant was really subpar. It was decently big, but it was too dense and overbaked so the texture of the outside was hard, dry, and crunchy. I think they put powdered sugar on it to cover up the fact that it was overdone. When I went to ask for a refill on my drip coffee, the barista informed me that refills are $1. I was a little shocked given that it was already $4 for a 12 oz coffee and the only labor involved is putting my cup back under the spigot. He did at least allow me to hand him a dollar instead of waiting in the 5+ person line, which I appreciated.Overall, to reuse the word, this place was disappointing, and I wouldnt recommend anyone going out of their way to get coffee or pastries here.
Delicious selection of items you order online and pick up. Excellent customer service too!
My favorite place for a latte or tea in Chicago. It’s just beautiful and everything is so delicious!
Everything Ive ever gotten from Floriole has been top of the line. Its delicious, beautiful, and high quality.
I love this place so much. The atmosphere is so bright and airy and welcoming. My favorite pastry is the buckwheat scone. If you haven’t tried it yet, you are missing out. The coffee is also super tasty! Highly recommend Floriole!!
I have been to this Cafe on a few occasions during cold, rain and shine and it never disappoints. When the sun is shining the windows are open it is relaxing to be able to enjoy a light meal and enjoy the sun outside with a family members or friends. The staff is always extremely friendly everytime I go in there and always give great suggestions when you ask them for their opinion.Their Panna Cotta is one of my weak spots when it comes to a Sweet Treat. The Turkey is always a good choice of a sandwich for lunch or to grab to go. Their latte always leave you with a fuzzy feeling even if you have to go walk out in the rain. The atmosphere in the Cafe is relaxed and laid back, sometimes you see people with their laptops. However, I think it would be a good place to relax and have lunch while reading a book while it pours outside (Man does that sound cliché haha). I havent been up in the loft area for one of my days there mostly because I am terrified I would spill my coffee on the way up, but I like to believe it is probably cozy up there.Floriole is one of my go-to places in downtown Chicago because it never seems to be too crowded so you can sit back, drink a coffee and relax with friends for awhile.
High quality, $5.11 plain croissant!
This is my favorite coffee place in Chicago! Try their iced sweeten green tea latte and alchemist shake! Enjoy their rich flavors and coffee
Wow amazing pastries!!Lemon Lavender Tea CakeSpinach Feta CroissantButter CroissantChocolate CroissantBlack Sesame Passionfruit CookieFoccacia
Very cute atmosphere! The cranberry apple ice tea was delicious and the hot chocolate was probably one of the best I’ve had in the Chicagoland area. However it was a bit pricey just keep that in mind. A croissant was $4
Chic interior, tasty baked goods, great coffee. But... Service is awful. We waited 15 minutes for our coffee then we waited 35 minutes for our food before they realized the order hadnt even been received by the kitchen. They werent even very busy or apologetic.
Food and place itself is a wonderful neighborhood gem! The service is by far the worst Ive experienced. And its consistent. We are here weekly because of how convenient it is and quality of food. Just have to get past the people who work there to enjoy it.
Awesome little cafe. I was in town visiting for the weekend and actually went here both Saturday and Sunday! Nice selection of cafe items you may like, and everyone was very pleasant. Would definitely come back if I was in the area.
Overpriced croissant and cappuccino. Chocolate Croissant has very little chocolate filling and the cappuccino tasted like a burnt cigarette. Asked for croissant warmed but served cold and staff gave attitude for simple requests. Totally do not recommend anyone to waste their money here for poor quality coffee and food that pretends to be French but is not.
Very calm and relaxing bakery/cafe. It smells absolutely wonderful when you walk in and the coffee was delicious. Would definitely be a place to come back to!
Cute place get lunch or coffee and have a quick meeting or get work done. Good food. Prices are a bit high. But you are playing for the quality. Sometimes the upstairs seating closes earlier than the rest of the cafe.
Stopped in after a yoga class while I was visiting Chicago and fell in love. The pastries are amazing - my husband said the pineapple upside down cake was the best pastry hes ever had. The rhubarb galette and almond croissant were also delicious. Wish we were around longer to try the rest of their menu. Atmosphere inside is nice, too, either for working or for meeting for lunch/coffee. Great service, too!
5 stars for the baked goods, 1 star for the coffee. Its strange they wont let me preorder a specific loaf of bread to pick up on a certain day. Its also annoying they dont have all the baked goods for sale as soon as they open. It looks like theyre more focused on selling them to other local businesses. Ill go to Floriole as soon as they open but they wont have a chocolate croissant. But if I go to Intelligentsia as soon as they open theyll already have their daily delivery from Floriole.
Well done cafe with a meticulous eye for rustic chic. The two floors make it bigger than it looks from the outside. Everything is extremely well presented. If youve never been there before be aware the register to order is at the corner farthest from the door.
Very nice cafe and bakery. The croissants were delicious, the cappuccino and latte were excellent, and the staff and atmosphere was just perfect. Great place to grab a bite and a coffee if in the neighborhood.
Great baked goods and pastries! The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The decor is very chic and the aroma... wow!
Ham and cheese croissant. I dream about this croissant and even took some home to freeze. It is well worth the wait in line. Dont let peoples negative reviews or attitude keep you from here tartine is special.
The quiche is fantastic. The chocolate mousse is incredible. Id say almost everything here is great, including the ambience.
Three words. Yum. Yum. Yummy. Their avocado toast is my go to. Simple, but very delicious and satisfying. Their never send to be a wait here so I am not sure how they are staying in business. It is in a very convenient location for me which is why I stop here so I am hoping they start open 🤞
This is such a cute little place and the staff was super nice. The food is also very good and they list the main allergens in the food so you can make sure. I really enjoyed it and will be back.
$6 pastries that does not taste like $6, nor are big enough to be $6.
This place is truly amazing. It is always somewhat crowded, but that is because the baked goods are phenomenal. The service is great and it has a work area on the upper floor where you can focus.
A little pricey on the sandwiches for the amount of meat it brings. But overall not that bad. The desserts looked amazing but Ill have to try them next time :)
Excellent spot! Parisian sandwich is worth your time. The manager is amazing!
Very good. Lattes fantastic, and great oatmeal. Avocado toast good, walnut-fig scone good but a little dry.
Hands down, the #1 thing we will miss most about Lincoln Park when we move. Almond croissant is my favorite - better than all the croissants we had in Paris! Everything Floriole makes from breakfast pastries to salads and sandwiches to pizza to sweets is always simple but unique and just excellent. Gorgeous interior and super friendly staff as well. Thank you for being such a great neighborhood spot for us!
I dont understand how a bakery does not have croissants when they open and even an hour after they open. I understand they sell baked goods to other local shops, but they should really have all the baked goods for customers.
Love this place! I come here almost every Friday when DePaul University classes are in session. The food is a bit pricey, but so worth it. Truly one of the best cafes in Chicago that Ive been to. And the dont try to push you out if you are staying to do work. The front counter staff can be a bit snooty but its really only one or two employees. Nothing rude, jut a bit distant. The rest of the staff is always very nice and their busers are fantastic.
Incredible almond croissants, never tasted better. Also, the date walnut scone is excellent.
A wonderful local bakery & pastry shop they have delicious items for breakfast and lunch. The upstairs seating area is light and bright and wonderful place to meet a friend or sit and work. Its extremely pricey however so be prepared to pay up for the privilege of a beautiful place to sit and higher quality food.
Good rolls. Theres something on the ceiling near the front windows aloft. It does fall, smell, and taste like bat guano.
Perfect place to stop by on a blustery fall day with its fresh buttery croissants and freshly baked bread. Until today I thought the image of the baker carrying in a tray of freshly baked steaming bread was only an exaggeration of some bygone era. But, here I saw one of the bakers coming out with a tray of freshly baked brioche (cant remember if he wore a bakers hat because I was too distracted by the pillowy billowy goodness on the tray). Of course I got it, and of course it was one of the most delicious bread Ive ever had. My new go-to bakery from now.
Very nice place. Passion fruit tart was so good and fresh. Coffee was not as good as the dessert.
There were so many that I wanted to try but I only had their all day lunch menu ricotta and some cherries on the house sour dough... simple, savory, not overwhelming but still good! Id love to visit again and try all others that looked amazing!:)
Great place, great service and delicious pastries! I loved their choice of teas and amazing croissants and tarts. Lunch menu looks good too but we did not try it yet. They have seating upstairs which is really nice and quiet. Cant wait to be back!
This is a regular weekend stop. If you just need to pick up a loaf of bread, youll find several great options here - my favourite is the seeded sourdough. They also do great pastries - I enjoy the canele and the buckwheat scone particularly. If you want to sit and eat, there are some great options on the menu - I often go for the quiche which changes quite frequently. Coffee is good too!
Good coffee, nice baristas. Two levels make it a great place for a meeting, or study. Prices are a little steep, but at least it aint just another Starbucks. I will definitely be back.
The staff was very polite, and felt welcome in the environment; However, I couldn’t stay long because of the heat! It felt like it was 100° inside. How are the employees not dead from working in that climate?
Cute, quiet, friendly and bright. Family-friendly, gorgeous bakery and lovely coffee. Lots out tables and outlets. Its small but still plenty of room to spread out.
Good coffee and cute decor. They have a nice outdoor area to enjoy the weather (if its nice). I ordered a latte and they had soy milk! It was great and the service was nice. They looked like they had some good pastries, but unfortunately I did not try any.
WOW this place is amazing! Its super chic, it sits in a quiet neighborhood but its a hidden gem. My first time there we got some pastries, we were going to eat lunch but we were super hungry and they have mostly super healthy items so that specific day we didnt want to be healthy..lol . They were so good and the service was great.
Great coffee, baked goods, lunch and dessert. The croissants are wildly good, truly devastatingly good.
Beautiful little cafe with great food! The raspberry tart was amazing, as was the peach cobbler -- a little on the pricy side, but well worth it. Wouldnt say that youre feeling whisked away to Europe, but it is some fantastic food in a wonderful atmosphere.
The quality of both the food and the service is always superior. Baked goods (including bread) are baked fresh daily, and never disappoint. Its a really open and fresh layout, with a big window looking into the kitchen. Service is always friendly and personal.
This place was overcrowded and the staff completely unaffected. Our order was taken by a man with the personality of an old sponge after we’d waited in line for what felt like 20 minutes. We got a cookie that was quite dry and unremarkable and and our beverages were adequate.Edit: I haven’t been back there, but they did respond to my concerns and perhaps it was merely circumstantial.
Delicious! and friendly too, they have great farmers market ingredients and fresh baked goods that always taste great. stop by here in the morning for a latte and scone, but on the weekends its crowded- so be prepared to wait. upstairs seating is sunny and bright so snag a spot when you can
Good service. Get there early to get the best pastry, etc.
Caneles are good but bordeaux is a high standard. Keep tweaking the caneles recipe and cook method.
Lovely cafe with a wonderful array of French pastries and a very wonderful selection of sandwiches to choose from!
Very cozy neighborhood spot for working or hanging out. Can definitely get crowded on the weekends.
I love the coffee. They have a lot of milk alternative options. My favorite is oat milk. The avocado toast and baked egg are delicious. Very good pastries too
This breakfast and lunch spot serves fresh, seasonal dishes in a beautiful, light-filled setting. Im a fan of the salad trio which allows you to taste all of their homemade salads (grain, veggie, potato) with a side of the daily soup. If the downstairs is crowed go upstairs for a view of their rooftop garden.
Great place in Lincoln Park for a brunch with friends! Don’t miss out on having a glass of wine in their outdoor seating area.
Food was good. Service was horrible. Floriole needs to retrain their people. The cashier was slow and not once acknowledged that we were there, not a simple hey thanks for waiting which pretty much Customer Service 101.The barista making the drinks (we only ordered an iced pomegranate tea and a lemonade) does not read the whole ticket. He made the iced tea and, when my boyfriend went back to the bar, the barista asked what my boyfriend needed help with. My boyfriend politely said we also ordered a lemonade with the iced tea. He was told well you gotta back to the cashier cause she didnt charge you. When we can literally see the ticket that says both drinks. Without apologizing he handed my boyfriend the lemonade.
Amazing cafe and bakery. The breads, pastries, and all baked goods are arguably some of if not the best in the city. Come here to enjoy a nice Sunday brunch for sure!
Excellent espresso, expert baristas, delicious lunch menu, and some of the best pastries and bakery items in the city. The seating areas are comfortable, the atmosphere is beautiful, and its quiet enough to bring your laptop and get some work done. Floriole is definitely my favorite cafe in the city. You can usually find street parking nearby, and the ability to make NFC payments is a plus.
Beautiful place, great wares, nice mission statement. Lisa is very cool! (Great acoustics upstairs - I did a check with my harmonica - Possible venue for some local food/talent activist meet-ups? - Well see!)
This cafe is always busy; its also a great place to grab a sandwich or croissant. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. They style is order at the counter and then get a number. Prices are reasonable.
Friendly staff and great food. If I had to give criticism it would be timing on loaves of bread, 1 day I went in and the Baggetts hadnt come out yet and the next day I came in a half hour later and they were sold out of all loaves. It is not their fault though that they are so good that locals devour their goods at unpredictable rates on the weekends.
Okay. Wow. Everything here is good. Sourdough, especially. And theyve got some loaf with lavender and caraway. Get that.
I stopped in before getting a hair cut for breakfast. A decent sized line was cleared in 5-6 minutes with no sacrifice to quality in cappuccino I ordered. Fantastic cakes and worthy of the Food and Wine Americas best bread and bakeries.
Loved the sweets, desserts tasted fresh and I didnt really feel any artificial ingredients. Everything was up to par!
Lovely spot. Had the shakshuka - very tasty
