This may be an example of where third wave coffee made a wrong turn. There are so many shops now that have the craft roast look including pourover equipment and fancy bags of coffee with a clever label. However, where the rubber meets the road is the coffee and how it tastes. The coffee here had the weak body and charred taste of convenience store or gas station hot plate coffee when to show up two hours after brewing. Really disappointed. The cute coffee sign and brick alley-like feel tricked me. Skip this spot and walk a block south. Youll be glad you did.
Overpriced and overrated. I had their version of a vanilla latte with soy milk. The drink cost nearly $6 for a small! When i received the latte it was luke warm and did not taste spectacular in any way - Ive had better lattes for half the price. Store front is cute, but save your money and go somewhere where youll get better tasting coffee.
Amazing small space that has a neat off street alley dining space! A quaint shop making sure not to waste city space. A little pricey on the espresso coffees, but really they are charging about par in the loop. Historical points for knowing they were in one of the oldest buildings in the loop. For what it is, they are doing great!
A cool little coffee place tucked away in an alley. We werent looking for a particular place but when I saw this I knew we had to grab a cup. It had a very expansive menu. I had the lavender rose laté and was very pleased with it. I only wish there was more seating. Ill definitely be back.
Great little coffee brew house. Fresh roasted coffee. Inventive espresso based drinks. Unfortunately, they were bought out by another little coffee Brew house but Im sure the coffee will still be great
I randomly stumbled into this place when I saw a coffee sign. It it such an adorable coffee shop and the barista who took care of my order was wonderful! Ill admit it is a little pricey for a small (but I got a rose water latte since I asked for a recommendation) size but its good coffee! I recommend that you go here if you want to try something new thats not your typical fast food coffee.
This place is priceless! I felt like I was entering Diagon Alley! Specialty coffee options were intriguing. I loved my black ginger latte and enjoyed the shady seating with a power socket as a plus.
Small area that is really hidden between two building. Found it by surprise when walking around today. Lots to choose from and their coffee taste great. Its a little pricey but worth it. Definitely will come back.
I just tried this place for the first time and its amazing! I want to try everything on the menu! They have a lot of unique options if you are in the mood for something special to treat yourself.
Super fast service, good coffee and nice outdoor seating and aesthetic. Drip coffee has very fair pricing- $2.50 for small and $2.75 for a large. Cool latte flavors.
The coffe is great! I love the atmosphere. Cool to see coffee from different regions. I got a sample of a new sandwich called The Usual Suspect, oh man that was good!
Its a good place to grab coffee.. No indoor seating, so when its raining or snowing, its just grab-n-go. Great coffee and tea selection though.
This place transports you to a different city with its in-the-alley storefront look. Great coffee selection and helpful staff. There is limited outdoor seating.
Such a neat little place. Unique drinks that are phenomenal. The only thing Id say is they added a tad too much frothed milk in the drinks that I had.
Fantastic spot. Best espresso Ive had in chicago. They roast their own beans available for purchase and offer a range of filter options
By far the best espresso drinks downtown, with Intelligentsia a very close second. Its real tiny inside, but the quality and love that goes into their coffee is unmatched.
Decor was impressive. Tried house blend. It was tasty. Want to try one without flavour.
Great coffee, super cute and cozy location. Terrible service. I watched an employee just give someone coffee through the door. I actually held it open (I thought they were coming in) barista just handed him a coffee. Neither said thank you for me holding the door. There was also a fan girl chatting with the other barista, so neither of them said anything to me. It is a very small place but charming. I would recommend maybe not going because of the staff.
Charming little place with a private patio tucked in between the buildings. Great coffee and a variety of pastries to choose from.
A truly excellent coffee shop in the heart of a downtown overran with Starbucks. They--and their perfectly crafted lattes--are doing the Lords work.
Very tiny coffee shop! Kinda near that it tuncked into an alley. We ordered an iced latte, after we finished the coffee, still full cup of ice! Kinda feel rip off!
They changed the name, now Hero Roasters, but still a great hole in the wall, hidden alley wonder!
There signature coffees are Soo good. Also this place is one of the coolest looking coffee shops Ive seen. Really like the atmosphere here.
Nice people and great coffee! The cool alley is a plus as well.
Coffee shop with a European feel smack in the middle of the city. Great place!
Wonderful service! Answered all of my questions and absolutely delicious!
This is what coffee should be. Using an old-fashioned machine and not just pushing a button.
This is the most smallest/ cutest, amazing coffee shop ever! OMG!!
The location and aesthetics of this place is really cool. Seating is limited
Best situated coffee shop in illinois!
