Update Sep-2021: My wife and I have become regulars at Yolk Lakeview. The service and food quality hold up every time. I would rate them 6 stars without a doubt!Original review, May-2021: My wife and I are new to the Lakeview area. We walked into this Yolk location for the first time and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and a very friendly service from Rachel, who raised the definition of “welcome” to a whole new level! Delicious food, awesome coffee and just an amazing experience. We will come back for more, for sure!
Really good hearty brunch option; ordered the scrambler with all the veggies, it came with a side of potatoes and pancakes. My friend ordered the west coast crepes. We were celebrating a birthday, the server brought out crepes covered in whipped cream and chocolate. The service was really good. The macchiato was great as well!
I love this place and come often not only because its close to home but also the food beings back breakfast memories from my childhood. However, I had a pretty bad experience today. I ordered my favorite west coast crepes but they came out very pale, almost raw. The waitress agreed that they are supposed to be way more golden and took them back. Next time I saw them one crepe was overdone and the other one still undercooked and none of them crispy. Later the manager came out but instead of admitting the mistake she was trying to say thats how its supposed to be. On top of that they charged full price for it.Very disappointed but due to past good experiences Ill give this Yolk one more try. If this happens again, theres another Yolk nearby. Although a bit further, my customer and food experience has never been bad.
The food was great and so was the service. The only negative was the high price for what we had. Although its been a while since weve been here, I cant remember the costs being as high as they were. However, everything was delicious and you cant go wrong for a Sunday brunch :-)
Excellent customer service:)I called to check how long my orders would take to be ready; the young lady offered to bring them out to my car.Very helpful and kind...
Great service from what appeared to be a newbie server, FANTASTICALLY fresh salad & an all-in-all good experience. Seeing as we may be u-turning on the pandemic & possibly having restaurants having to resort to less capacity, this was a nice opportunity to eat indoors before that may happen. Thank you to Yolk & all the employees.
Delicious food and the servers/waitresses are wonderful, I give them 5 stars. ⭐ I had a great morning 🌄
Checked this place out last week of Jan. 2020, and I tell you I was very pleased with what was offered. There was definitely too many choices so I ended up ordering a a Breakfast Burrito and my wife had a 3-Egg Scrambler I believe. The coffee was very good and the waiter was a young guy and he was very pleasant and informative; he also gave us all the time we need to order and he also listened and got our order right. The Buritto was good and everything inside the burrito mixed well.If anyone should go to this place, I would recommend the Breakfast Burrito. When were in the neighborhood again, we will definitely stop by.
Great selection of breakfast entrees and if you want lunch...they have that too!! The employees at Yolk on Diversey are exceptional...friendly, accommodating and efficient!
Usually I am very satisfied with breakfast here, the food is always hot, fresh and the portions are very generous. Today however, I used a coupon sent to my email, which was also great! However, when I picked up my order, I noticed the portions were really smaller than usual. I received what would be child -like portions. Two teaspoons of potatoes?!? The eggs were regular size portions, but I was really disappointed with the other portions. 4 1/2 bacon strips. And two TINY Belgian waffles.
This diner chain hits everytime. They have the classics, with their own twist. Great portion sizes compared to price. If they served liquor this would be a go to brunch spot, but still a good choice anyday.
It was the first time Ive eaten at this particular location; I was meeting a friend, for brunch, who lives nearby. Our waiter, Anthony, was affable and cordial; very knowledgeable of the menu and made some very good recommendations. We tried a new flavored latte on his praise. I was very pleased with my order with the exception of the eggs which I found ironic due the places namesake. The eggs were a little overcooked but everything else was great. I was in much of too good of a mood since its been awhile since Ive eaten out in public....
Pricey for the quality. My sunny side up eggs were basically cooked through. My friends breakfast burrito was bland and they served him a latte instead of espresso
Breakfast was delicious but didnt like lunch menu, turkey burger gross
Quick service, great food, cool menu items, great prices.
Wonderful food and wonderful service! While visiting Chicago, my friends and I ate here two mornings in a row. Both meals were phenomenal! What you need to know: the side of pancakes is HUGE! Like, enough for a meal. So if youre with someone else, and only want a little pancake, share with your friend! The orange strawberry juice is to-die for. That is all.Ok... General review stuff... When we came in the first morning, the overhead music was playing in addition to the kitchen staff playing music. We asked for only one sound, with a preference for the salsa music that the kitchen staff was listening to. Boom. A minute later we had just salsa. Sweet. The next morning, they were playing techno music, which was a bit much at 7am. We asked if they could hook us up with salsa instead and boom! Salsa is what we got. Gotta love it.Every bit of food we had was amazing. Seriously, you cant go wrong here.
Amazing chicken and waffles! The cinnamon roll French toast was so delicious and they had some of the best cheese grits Ive ever eaten. Service was good, not too crowded, and a good spot for brunch and conversation with friends. Have always come back for the croque madame! Its super sweet, packed with turkey and ham, and one of favorites.
Been here so many times, always a good choice.
Jose, the waiter, was very cheerful, the food was delicious, and it took no time to be seated, to begin ordering, and for the food to arrive. Also, they have great coffee.
Great service! The staff is very friendly and helpful. All of our food was great, but the Cheesey Grits side is worth the trip into the city for!!!
Jose was my server he was very out going and professional! Fantastic customer service !!! The food was awesome ❤
The food was pretty good overall, I’d come back for sure. Quick service and nice server.
Broke my fast. Ate that fast. Burn the land, boil the sea tell them I aint coming back. I mean, I will come back for breakfast though.
Jesus this place has gone downhill. I had to argue with the waitress for 5 minutes just to get q menu. The prices are outrageous. They should be ashamed of themselves.
They accommodated the breakfast burrito to fit my vegan lifestyle. It was delicious!
Excellent food & excellent service! Thx for your fabulous recommendations, particularly the Pancake of the month. We greatly appreciate your Covid-safe protocols as well. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town.
I get the red velvet French toast every time. It’s that good. All the food is amazing though.
My new favorite breakfast spot
Just visiting the area. It was the only place on the whole Diversey street open from St Joes hospital and west, and Im glad! The food was great!! I had the West coast crepe: highly recommend. They offered an off the menu pancake: Apple crisp....... 😋... Im not usually a sweet food person, but Im thoroughly satisfied I went with the waitresses recommendation (they even did a side order since I was already getting a meal.) I ended up with lefts overs for later!
Healthy, flavorable meal with outstanding staff. Fun environment.
Delicious! My sister and I stopped in for a late breakfast. This was our first visit and we both have nothing but good things to say about Yolk. Service was warm and friendly. It was hard to decide on what to order, everything sounded so good! Our food were generous proportions and scrumptious! Will come back again!
Amy and Anthony are amazing and kind professional wonderful people. Great food!!!Lincoln Park has me coming back😊
#TastyBut ... Pretty empty but slow service (CoViD-related or ?!?) lead to late drinks, cold eggs, and so on. Disappointing considering bfast is $20 a head 🙁
Nice atmosphere, good food, and Jose is an excellet table server. Ive been a regular now for several weeks.
The Nutella crepes were delicious. The mini waffles were ok but pretty expensive considering the portion size. I would gladly come back.
Delicious but I dont feel guilty after finishing your dishes 😂🤙🏼🤤
Great service and excellent food
Yummy Yummy. Can not wait to go back.
Citrus chicken salad is to die for
Nice place nice day
The food was hot and delicious. The server was very nice and her personality was up beat
Hard to rate a place with a take out order, but what I had was tasty and still warm when I got back to the hotel. The grits were a little wet, but good. Rye toast delicious, and the over medium eggs were perfect.
Not a bad place. Good coffee. Chilaquiles verde were soggy but still flavorful. Really like their house habanero hot sauce. The egg combo was good with french toast but the french toast was cold.
Covid friendly, clean and friendly. Jeff was very kind and attentive. Will definitely be back.
Great breakfast spot. The 5 egg omelets are amazing.
Good food, good vibe!
Great place to dine in.
The strawberry orange juice is amazing!
Second time trying yolk, wasn’t super pleased. Sadly the food was stale... all for supporting business especially now so I decided to order delivery. The delivery was great, fast, & delivered with care. The food unfortunately wasn’t great..... very disappointed 😢😢😢
Great service, good food, clean and following covid safety guidelines
Great service, food, prices. Try the cold brew :)
This was my first trip to Lakeview, and my girlfriend requested we try Yolk to get breakfast. The service From Anthony was exceptional, and wes good also. We recommend you try is your ever in Lakeview IL.
This couldve been 5 stars. I have been to Yolk a few times, but not this location. I love the food. Its absolutely delicious! This visit, the food was fabulous and the waiter was kind and on top of things, but it wasnt busy. My bill was just under $40 and I only had $20s, so I gave him $60 to get change for the tip. Needing to be somewhere, I left a tip and didnt realize until later that he had not given me the change from the bill. So he helped himself to his own tip and got a real tip from me. I doubt this is common practice, but something to watch out for at this location. Disappointing. Were all trying to get by in this world...did you really need my $3.54?
I took my boyfriend and mother here for breakfast. The food was delicious and service was great. The tea was loose leaf and it was too notch. Ive been doing a very specific diet and was kind of anxious about traveling with restrictions, but their menu had options for me that were delicious! Anthony, our server, was very friendly and accommodating. He was very personable and attentive. We had a good time!
Yolk is ALWAYS a must visit staple when in town!
A very good place for breakfast. A bit crowded on weekends but they have their own coffee and it is better than most. I had Joe as a waiter and he was very good at his job. They even offer raw sugar for their coffee drinkers. The meal was very good. I am a retiree and the menu is about $2 ti high for me to be a regular but as a special treat sometimes, it is a good thing.
Nice staff, great food, I had the chia tea and chicken and waffles. Definitely reccomend
Food, service, and prices are all great. Wish they had outdoor seating
Awesome brunch spot! My boyfriend and I went when it was super busy, but we still got seated within 5 minutes of arrival. Our server was Ryan, he was very friendly, attentive, and always made sure our coffee was full. The menu is pretty big and has something for everyone, but I highly recommend their 5 egg omelettes or peanut butter French toast! Cant wait to come back!
I dont usually eat eggs, Im pretty much vegetarian, but when I have company we often go over here. I must say its the only place I will eat eggs. They are tasty and never greasy like other places. Plus the help is always so cheerful and friendly they get the best people to work there. There are other things to eat there. I have had a veggie burger. And of course theres cereal and pancakes. But I eat their omelettes, especially the veggie-filled ones, because they are great.
Food was amazing and I love that they have vegetarian/vegan options. I had the steak salad and it was so good. The steak was cooked just how I liked it and the veggies were all fresh and crispy. Ill be back for sure.
Yess the best place to feel like ur eating a home cooked meal
I love Yolk!! I love the California omelet and country side skillet!! The service is always great! The servers are so friendly!! Definitely my favorite breakfast spot in the neighborhood!
Excellent service. Waitress friendly and very attentive. Food taste fresh and delicious. Had to pay for parking but worth it
Good food and service
The food was great. Our service was not very good. Its true that it was a busy morning, but our server was really not very attentive with refilling our coffee or even making it over to our table in a reasonable amount of time for us to order. Parking on a Saturday morning was also a bit complicated, so be ready to walk for about 6 minutes to get to the restaurant.
Every single time. Ive gone to Chicago five times now over the last 6 or 7 years, and I have made it an absolute necessity to go to Yolk every single time. Im sort of glad they arent here in Pittsburgh, as Im fairly certain I would be going weekly and would put on a lot of weight. The coffee and food are out of this world. Its always packed to the brim so I would go at 1 or 2 in the afternoon to miss the major brunch rush. LOVE YOLK.
Rude host. Waited 2 hours for the table, in the end we didnt get seated. Horible experience.
I have been wanting to try Yolk for a long time. I finally had the opportunity this past weekend. I called the Yolk on Diversey Parkway and specifically asked if they had steak skillets. The gentleman named Anthony said yes we do. My reply was ok then I want two steak skillets, one with 3 eggs, mushroom and onion. Second with two eggs and green pepper. He then asked what kind of toast. I stated both sourdough. He then said ok it’ll be ready in 30 mins. I picked up my order which cost a little over 30 dollars. I got in the car to eat with my friend. I opened up my to go box and I had no steak. My friend opened his and he had no steak. So I called the restaurant to complain and mind you I was still out in front of the restaurant. The gentleman that answered wasn’t helpful at all and proceeded to tell me I didn’t confirm I wanted steak. My order was as is “I want two steak skillets” so how is this my fault? Then I was told well if you wanted steak it would have been an extra 7.50 a skillet. I then said for two skillets without steak was 30 dollars? That’s ridiculous. No I’m sorry for our mistake just continued to blame me. I was very excited to try this place and I will never eat here again. I’ve never had someone try to blame the customer for their mistake. So to anyone ordering here please make sure to have them read back the order seeing as it’ll be your fault if they don’t get it right.
Amy and her crew, makes you feel at home among friends.
Excellent location, staff & cuisine!
Yolk provides all the breakfast staples one would expect from a restaurant specializing in breakfast. While I have only dined here one time, the service was timely, food was well-cooked, and the vibes are fantastic. It is a bit overpriced for the quality of the food served, but Yolk has demonstrated that customers are willing to pay the premium, so hats off to them. While the food here is not the absolute best breakfast food you can get, Yolk has done a fantastic job of creating a unique dining experience that goes beyond simply the food. If you have never had breakfast here, I encourage stopping in and can assure that you will leave full, happy, and ready to tackle the rest of your day.
