Well here we go!!I bought and item that required a specific bolt to work properly so on my way home I saw sign to Hardware City.Let me tell you I believe they had a wider variety of items for Lowes or Home Depot.This placed was absolutely packed with product for sale. I was totally impressed!The staff was very knowledgeable and really helpful.I wound up buying a lock for the top of my motorcycle trailer as well. Very COOL!I have to give Hardware City my coveted 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating. Clarksville has it so good!!!!

Today at Hardware City, I asked a male employee for help finding the right-sized wrench to work on a stuck faucet stem. I had found one I thought might work, but I wasn’t sure. The employee said it would work, even after I pointed out that it wasn’t the size I said I needed (The instructions and the inadequate tool that came with the faucet repair kit said I needed 29/32, but the only thing they had that was close was 24 mm). He said that was “just American verses metric measurements” and that it would definitely be the right size. Ok. There was no price on the wrench, so a woman who is the manager had to price it in their system, and she checked me out. I bought the wrench and went right home to try it. Turns out it was slightly too big, so I needed something smaller. No big deal. I live right down the street, so I’ll just go back.When I went back to the store not fifteen minutes later, I asked a different young woman at the checkout if I could return the wrench I had just bought because it was the wrong size. She very sternly and condescendingly said they have a “no returns” policy. I explained to her that a Hardware City employee had actually recommended the wrong-sized wrench just a few minutes before, and she said rudely that it didn’t matter, they don’t do returns. I then mentioned that the manager had just checked me out and asked if I could speak to her, because I was sure she would remember me from fifteen minutes before, since she had also seen me ask the guy (who had now disappeared) for help and then had checked me out. The young cashier said there was “no point in asking for the manager, because she would tell me the exact same thing… no returns.” I said I didn’t think I was being unreasonable, and that I was going to buy something else that would work, so I’m not trying to con anyone. She said again, “There’s no point in speaking with the manager.” She refused to call the manager. At that point, another customer in the store who was within earshot the whole time (an old man) had had enough, and he jumped in and said, “This is ridiculous! She was given the wrong thing from one of YOUR employees, so you should try to make it right! Just get the manager!” So, then she called for a manager. (Thanks, kind stranger.)A different woman other than the manager I had worked before with came over. I explained what had happened and she was actually VERY cool about it. She showed me what wrench would actually work and recommended some liquid wrench for the stuck faucet stem, which was very helpful (and it did work, by the way). I guess by that point, the first manager had caught wind of what happened, so she came over, too. I explained to her what had happened, she said she remembered me, and she also helped me get what I needed. Like I said… it was really no big deal.The original manager checked me out a second time and meanwhile, the younger cashier who had been soooo rude to me cowered at the other side of the register wall and wouldn’t make eye contact with me. But there I was, RETURNING the wrong wrench.I have NEVER been treated so rudely by someone at a store before. She was absolutely the rudest, most condescending person, and for no reason whatsoever. I’ll never go there again. The whole place is a disorganized wreck, the staff is not familiar enough with the tools to be helpful (at least that one guy isn’t), and that one young woman at the checkout needs… well, I really don’t know what she needs, but she needs something.I’m sure someone will think I’m a Karen for asking to speak the manager. This wasn’t that. I spent $15 on what was recommended to me and it was simply the wrong advise. Ironically, I spent $24 on the correct wrench and $4 on the Liquid Wrench, so they came out way ahead. And I did appreciate the two managers being completely cool, but by that point I was really upset.

Wow !! If you need it.... they got it.Honestly I have never seen such a cluttered store before. But I really didnt mind there was so much to see. Some items looked like they have been on the same shelf for 20 years.

Prices are very high and the wait was long to be served even though there was no line. Cool merchandise though.

They had a part for my door knob bit none of the big box stores had they matched it up perfectly

I needed faucet steams for my bathtub because its old and Lowes didnt have it so I went to hardware city and Joanie knows her stuff. I was impressed with her. She found what i needed and I was so happy. Having old stuff when a house is built way back when we need hardware stores to cares stuff like that and living here in Clarksville a lot of house were built back in the 40s, 50s,60s,70s and so on and theyre still standing so lowes and home depot you could learn something from Hardware City. I know if I need anything else I need to go to Hardware City. Thank you hardware City for having everything we need that own old homes.

They have literally EVERYTHING you could ever imagine. But. You need a map and a compass and a guide with packing goats. Good luck. Its a MESS in there.If ya look n look n look.. I guarantee youll spend money. lol

I always find the most random things. 1 being this Cinderalla 3 VHS! Like...what.. .what ither hardware place could find that. It was $1!!!! They also currently have seeds on sale. Very helpful. If they dont know something they find out for you. No complaints here.

I was in need of 2 stems for my shower faucets. These old stems were obviously original to the house built in 1964 and had no markings to identify brand. Three plumbing supply stores (including Lowe’s) in my hometown did not have replacement stems. I was referred to Hardware City by one of the plumbers. Not only did Joanie immediately identify the stem brand, she had no problem finding them among her huge inventory! This LADY knows her hardware business!!The store is Amazing with a HUGH inventory of just about anything (new or old) that you would need! Some day I will go back just to visit.

What a fascinating place to shop for hardware! Bought a new switch for a lamp and got a motion detector LED lamp to light up the back steps. Helpful staff. Amazing contrast to places like Home Depot and Lowes. They all have their places in the hardware world, but Hardware City is a special place! A lot of stuff in a smaller footprint.

They always seems to have what I need, and at a very reasonable price. A very good deal.

When the winter storm was coming, I went looking for oil for my lamps. Everywhere I went either they sold out or didnt sell it. Well before I went home I called hardware city and they had some. I was relieved and thankful.If you cant find what youre looking for, try them.

I like that this is an old style hardware type store and you can often find things here that you can likely not find elsewhere. The staff is always friendly and helpful, but it is pretty messy and kind of iffy if they say something will be restocked. So, yes, generally I would say it is a great place to shop and a great atmosphere, but if it is something specific you need, it is hit or miss.

Got some of everything, and serves as a final stop when other places are without. However, it is congested and you mostly have to always ask for location of items but a great staff working there is always knowledgeable and assists.

This is a VERY interesting place. The seemingly endless walls of hardware and knickknacks can be a little addicting! Somehow the experienced folks working there know what they have on their inventory and where it’s at! I bought a couple of sanding belts and a hat for my son here, along with a routing bit. I could walk around here for hours!!! Really fun place if you like exploring for the store’s secret treasures!!!

HORRIBLE LAWN MOWER SHOP! DO NOT TAKE YOUR LAWN MOWERS HERE FOR REPAIR!! They have had my mower for over 2 months, i call and check they put me on hold for 10+ minutes. Takes forever to find my ticket. They claim they ordered parts and thats why its been over 2 months, because they still dont have the parts. When I asked what parts because I only had it taken in the have the blade belt replaced, they claim they found other things wrong. They never called, they never okayed this, or anything. They said the oil pan needed replaced and wanted to charge over 400 for that, took it to another shop... nothing was wrong with the oil pan. They just try to rob you of your money and dont even fix the actual problem, but instead cause you more issues. I will never shop nor use them again.

We came to the store to get a used push mower for my mother. We have been here before and left with a used push mower. But when we went to get help she replied with we don’t sell used push mowers! All the push mowers outside are not for sell. So we asked do you have any inside? She said yes. But as we walked over there by ourselves we saw that they were not used though. If y’all don’t sell used push mowers that’s fine! Just don’t be rude about it! More happened! But the meaning of me posting this is because we felt unwelcome and were not helped in anyway with our questions.

I love stores like this they have new old and used at mostly reasonable prices. They have stuff for repairs and such that no one else carries and in some cases cant even get elsewhere.

They have a lot of hard to find inventory. Although its messy the help there knows where to find it. They dont get bent out of shape if you go in without the KungFlue mask.

They are friendly and easy to deal with but prices are a tad high.

The manager is great and goes to great length to get you what you need but the rest of the employees are less than helpful, are rude, always in a hurry, yell across the store, and wont price check. I bought three packs of mouse bait. One pack was thirty cents less than the other two because I got three different kinds. The kid at the register charged me the same for all three even though I told him the price was different. He wouldnt go look or send anyone else to. Im very careful now not to buy anything in there that doesnt have the price on it. They just guess at what they think it should be.

DO NOT bring your lawn mowers here! Mine has been being worked on for MONTHS. The mower is under warranty but they do nothing about it, so I have to pay out of pocket or wait for the tech to finish the warranty packet, which they NEVER have done. I have called and stopped by so many times Ive lost count. Who knows if they even still have it or if they sold it. Do not ever bring anything here you arent willing to lose, because consider it gone!EDIT: I finally got it back, probably because I left this review. Brought it home, turned it on, and it immediately turned back off and wont restart. I expect nothing less from this place, I wont even bring it back there because I may never see it again.

Should have stopped here first instead of the box stores. Would have saved $25 in parts, 5 hours, and 70+ miles of driving for $.02 of teflon packing material. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Will be my first stop here on out.

They have an unbelievable selection of stuff. They have all types of uncommon items. They have a large selection of pocket knives. All kinds of plumbing items. Huge selection of rubber o-rings. Great prices on nails with a huge selection. It was great fun just walking around in the store. The very friendly and knowledgeable staff was a great help.

Staff was friendly. Prices were okay not great, but ok. Store is hard to get through and slightly scary due to boxes and stuff towered above you not being super stable thats also causing you to squeeze between most of the isles towards the back. However, I did love the array of merchandise in here, theres stuff that even harbor freight wouldnt have, as well as stuff for hobbies and other you didnt even think would be in here

Worst customer service ever. Don’t bother calling. They put you on hold for 10+ minutes. Takes for ever to get a simple question answered. Lawnmower shop is worseless. Wait forever. They make up all kinds of excuses. And if you don’t accept their excuses, you are told “Don’t bother coming back”. Who would want to come back? Not me that’s for sure

They have a wide variety of items to choose from. We walked in and a guy asked if he could help us and in less than 15 minutes we had what we were needing. Prices are reasonable and people are friendly and knowledgeable. Recommend this store to anyone.

The place looked like a swap meet not an organized hardware store. Most of the items are for emergency only and not for full time use. Quality does not exist with any item in the store and theyre overpriced.

The employees are so friendly and helpful. They have many products other than hardware to browse or purchase. My only recommendation would be to make items easier to find and declutter and organize a but betterm. Some places in the store are hazardous to walk through, especially when you first walk in. Not a great first impression at sight, but the friendly, courteous employees do make up for the clutter look.

We took our riding mower for repairs even though our previous experience was terrible. (This is the only place in town that is certified by the warranty.) When my husband dropped off the mower, he actually took a picture of the mower because they LOST it last time and when they found it, it had no claim ticket attached. The service man said it would cost $70. After a week, my husband was contacted that the mower was fixed and was ready to be picked up. When he went to the register, he was told the price would be $104. He argued, but paid. When he went to the mower area, his mower was all the way in the back with several mowers blocking it in. It had not been repaired. My husband asked for his money back, but the store employee who wouldnt move the other mowers said he couldnt have his money back. My husband had to argue that he had JUST paid WITH cash, so there was no reason he couldnt get his money back. About that time, an older man showed up who said he could get his money back and explained theyd had some issued with the man who was renting their workshop to repair mowers. The older man explained that the mower repairman was NOT in any way connected with Hardware City. That is unfortunate because this repairman is giving the company a very BAD name. Weve decided that IF we get the mower back, were willing to pay anyone else to get repairs done. Hardware City might be a great place to get those hard to find parts, but NEVER take anything to be repaired.

I can always find what I need here. The only drawback is the employees. They tend to stand around and talk. The one, Rebecca, and the owner Joni, are very helpful though.
