They diagnosed it for free, which is great. They also rebuild their own transmissions instead of buying rebuilt, which I like.

Multistate Transmission has been successfully servicing my personal vehicles, as well as all my business trucks for over 17 years. The service is excellent, and Cal always keeps us informed. They are priced extremely well, and they stand behind all their work. Their expertise allows them to work quickly, but never sacrificing quality. Multistate is invaluable when it comes to keeping my personal and work trucks on the road in excellent working condition.

I have had work done at Multistate Trans multiple times over the years. Most recent was a clutch replacement on a 2003 Jeep Wrangler. I trust these guys to determine the problem and get it fixed. Cal and company have done excellent work for me now and in the past. It’s a pleasure doing business with them.

I recently paid $4,000 for a transmission repair. Thinking after spending this amount of $ I would have an excellent car on my hands and I sold it as excellent working condition. Within 50 miles the transmission failed and I had to give the buyer back the $$ and take it back to the shop. They had the car for almost 2 weeks to repair the transmission again. They used to be a good reliable shop, but they arent what they used to be. This was a botched transmission repair in the worst case. They originally offer to by the car for $1000 prior to the original repair. After they fixed the transmission for the 2nd time they were not longer interested in buying the car saying that they just bought other cars. Seems suspicious they no longer wanted the car after their repair failed. Personnel was nice .

My Fiat 500 Sport went in for front axle replacement and new brake rotors. I chose them because their quote was significantly less than the dealerships quote. Dave at billing and Cal the master repairman were very helpful and knowledgeable. They treated me with respect and performed an excellent job on the car. With car care professionals like this, I have no doubt that my Fiat will last 400k miles. Ill be returning for further service in the future, for sure.

Royal Oak Heating and Cooling has relied on this company for many years to keep our trucks on the road and I also use them for my personal vehicles. I have found Cal, Ken, and the rest of the crew to be competent, fair, and timely with all of our repairs. I would recommend them highly for your go-to mechanic.

Unlike the dealership that charged me $150 to even take a look at my car, these gentlemen were respectful and honest with me. I went to a dealership 3 times to figure out why my shifter wouldnt return to the parking position, and replaced 2 completly unrelated parts (it still didnt work after that). My father found these guys, and I couldnt be happier with the work they did. They called me back the morning after I dropped my car off, and told me exactly what was wrong with it.

I originally went to Multistate Clawson for a transmission problem, and now I use them for all of my auto repairs, not just transmissions. I have 3 cars, a high mileage Ford Expedition, an older Cadillac Fleetwood, and a 76 Cadillac Eldorado convertible (for Woodward Ave. dream cruising!) Theyve worked on all of them at one time or another and Ive always been satisfied with their work, and never had a problem. Multistate Clawson is reliable, prompt, fair, and honest.

The guys seemed fair and honest. They actually came in almost a hundred dollars lower then they quoted, which is always a good thing. Also they where able to diagnose and resolve the problem the same day.

This has been the worst experience getting vehicles fixed I have ever gone through. This is just the short version of the situation. First brought my van in for a ball joint. They said my ball joints were fine but I needed brakes over $1,200 later I got my brakes fixed only to have my ball joint break after they told me it was fine. Few months later the brakes go on my van they warrantied them and didnt have an explanation on why they went bad. Its now a few months later after they warrantied the brakes on my van and theyre squealing and grinding once more. The second car that I brought to them during this time I brought it in for a squeaky belt. They said I needed new head gaskets because oil was spraying onto the belt and causing it to squeak $2,200 later I supposedly had my head gaskets fixed. Although the engine light was still on and the squeaking came back they then said it was power steering. Hundreds of dollars later I get it back everythings leaking again. The oil leaking was not their fault things like that happened but the leak was coming behind the transmission. They had to drop my transmission in order to fix the leak. Immediately after I got the car back after getting the leaks fixed my engine rebuilt it was stalling and then hand transmission problems. No more than a month later my transmission went. I go up there to get a report of everything that they did on my vehicles to know what exactly was replaced and what the process was on fixing what they have touched. My only intentions were just to know what exactly was fixed and not fixed and what the problems could be. They would not give me any copies an absolutely refused to give me extra copies of the receipts. He said that I should have already gotten them which I did the first time however some of them I was missing because I have misplace them. I think that was a very shady move not giving me a record of what they did to my vehicles upon request, if they did nothing wrong then one would think they would have had no problem giving me a copy of what they did to my vehicles. They got upwards towards six or seven thousand dollars within the last 12 months out of me supposedly fixing my vehicles. I can promise you everything that they have touched on my vehicles is still broken going bad and addition to the car is even worse then the first time I brawt it in. I recommend that everyone stays away from this place. They seem like nice guys however I think they pick and choose who theyre going to screw over and who they dont. I am a small business owner in the community and tattoo thousands of people in the area many which are car mechanics. The reason why I dont go to them and try and find others is because every mechanic I have tattooed has bragged about ripping people off that dont know it. This experience has taught me many of lessons and I know how to protect myself next time... this last part will go to Dave....I hope I was able to help you pay your bills why you screwed me over. You gentlemen have definitely schooled me in finding a mechanic and what mistakes that I have made by coming to you.Im responding to your response and yes I did bring in my vehicles multiple times to you to fix the same problem that you fixed once-over before and then you made the situation worse so yeah why would I bring my vehicle back in when I brought it to you multiple times over and over and over again to only have the same problem and multiple problems arise after? This whole ordeal has been taking months and thousands of dollars. Another thing is why wouldnt you give me my receipts and copies of what you did on my car huh? You guys got caught up in either not knowing what you were doing or ripping me off one of the two.

NEVER GO TO MULTISTATE. I was quoted $400 to fix a passenger side control arm last week. Holbrook Auto did it for $100 INCLUDING PARTS AND LABOR!!! When I called back to ask them why in the hell would it cost $400, he HAD NO EXPLANATION. Never go to Multistate. They are cash cows who just pull prices out of their asses. They could care less about the customer, they want $$$$$. Always do your research and shop around when it comes to car maintenance. I would recommend Holbrook. Great service and affordable prices.

Dave is friendly and helpful. The overhaul on my transmission was reasonably priced. Unfortunately, I dont believe it was completely necessary. I, also, dont believe in slander. So, here are the facts. I went in complaining that my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 5.3L had lost 3rd gear. After dropping it off first thing in the morning, I received a call telling me that they looked the transmission over and it needs a full overhaul for $2,230. The diagnosis didnt sound unreasonable given that the truck had 203k miles on it. I received a call 4 days later, the day I was supposed to get the truck back. I was told that the repair had been completed but, the transmission still would not shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. However, Dave said once they replaced the new 3rd gear pressure switch with the old 3rd gear pressure switch and the transmission was shifting fine after that. This means the new one must be bad. It will take another day or so to get another new pressure switch. Just a hunch here.... they didnt bother to diagnose why it wouldnt shift in the beggining. When it still had the exact same issue after replacing the clutches, bands and torque converter but, none of the electronic pressure switches. They realized they needed to look at the pressure switches which thread into the outside of the transmission housing. On my bill their were several itemized internal transmission components as well as fluid and labor for removal/install. Not a single pressure switch was on my bill. Why wouldnt you charge me for something you intend on replacing in the first place? BUYER BEWARE.

Stay away, sent 3 cars here, none are fixed properly, spent serious money on repairs and still have the same issues.I now use a different repair facility and was told most of the repairs that were done by Multistate were NOT needed. This place is the worst, poor service and they constantly try to sell you things you dont need.
