I made an appointment with Julie Belanger to have 2 valuable pairs of vintage Randolph Engineering Pilot Aviator Sunglasses adjusted to fit my head. I carefully and precisely requested that the arms of these glasses be adjusted so that they wont have that bended inward look when wearing them.Instead of having me sit down at the adjustment table to perform this procedure, Julie had me stand in front of a window while she stood in the back, unable for me to view what she was doing to my glasses. Next thing I know, she hands my glasses to me and BOTH arms on BOTH pairs of my glasses had been bent close to the temples. Most optometrists know that you don’t make adjustments by bending on the arms like this, but instead to either adjust the temple end pieces or stretch the frames. I nearly went into shock when I saw what she had done to my glasses! These arms were bent to the point of making a permanent crease or bend in the metal and this was my absolute worst fear!Julie seemed to be more concerned about me putting on my mask when I entered than she was adjusting my glasses properly!I later emailed Julie about what she had done. I politely and respectfully expressed that these were valuable sunglasses and how they were now totally ruined. Her reply was very rude and defensive. She tried to justify what she had done by commenting that my vintage sunglasses were “knockoffs.” This was just an excuse or scapegoat for her to try to justify the damage she had done. My thought was that whether they are knockoffs or not is completely irrelevant and doesn’t excuse permanently bending the arms of anyone’s glasses! To make matters worse, at the end of her email Julie stated that she was NOT going to pay me for the worth of the glasses. I thought this was odd because I had NEVER asked for her to do this? Sounded more like a guilty conscious talking to me!I couldn’t help but feel that I could have taken these glasses ANYWHERE else and probably never would have ended up with an awful experience such as this! Its sad that I had to be a victim of vandalism and experience pure rudeness AFTER the fact!
My greatest concern when it comes to my 5 year old is to make sure she isn’t traumatized by doctors visits. Dr. Julie was amazing! She explained things to me and to my daughter with ease and clarity. Even when she dilated my daughter’s eyes, she was a little upset but not scared or panicked. My daughter actually cried when she couldn’t take her glasses home immediately. I will be recommending Dr. Julie and I am so thankful for her help and for the way she took care of my child.
Dr. Belanger always takes time to explain what she’s doing and why, and most importantly, listens to concerns. I brought in records from my previous doctor out of state, and at my next visit, she discussed the previous treatments. How refreshing that she actually reviewed my files!
I had a great experience especially since I had to reschedule a few times due to my work schedule. Jennifer is so sweet and helpful. Dr. Belanger is incredible and really makes sure you understand in detail so now Im going to take my entire family there and give out recommendation. If you want a great Dr that cares about you and your eyes come here you will not be disappointed!!
Unprofessional doctor and unprofessional staff-My son had an appointment and we waited there for hour - We were on time in clanic the front desk she took us in the room - after 20 mins we contacted to front desk staff where is the doctor she checked and came with an update that she will be here in room after 20 more mins Wooooh wait a min we already spend 30 mins and now 20 mins top of that - after waiting 20 more mins she did not showed up then we contact Duke eye clanic thank fully they gave us an appointment and we left without their service- after left no one reach out to us for excuse- this is worst experience i had i would never suggest anyone this doctor - pretty dull clanic as well
I highly recommend Insight Family and Pediatric Eye Care. Jennifer, who works the front desk is very professional, helpful, and polite. She greets you with a smile ( through her mask) and gets you checked in quickly. Dr. Belanger is amazing with kids. She helps them feel comfortable with the eye exam. Check them out!
I had a great experience with getting née contacts and glasses after a long period of time of not having them. Dr Belanger was able to help me with finding a unique pair of glasses that fit me! I’m very appreciative she took the time to find the glasses! Plus I got a free paid of sunglasses for getting both! I recommend insight!
I really liked Dr. Julie. She’s very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Jennifer was very helpful in scheduling the appointment and upon arrival. I’ll never go to another eye doctor... staying with InSight as long as possible!
I had a very good experience at my appointment. My Doctor was very knowledgeable in her examines. Receptionist very pleasant and I would recommend to go there for the experience.
The receptionist was very friendly. The office was inviting. My doctor was very knowledgeable and plainly explained everything clearly. She was kind, patient and made me feel very comfortable. Ive found my new eye doctor. Prices were very reasonable.
Personable, profession examination and eye care. I appreciate the thoughtful attention to detail and consideration. Im very pleased!
Great service. My 3 year old came here and they treated him so great. Worth the hour drive. My 3 yr old and I highly recommend !!
Julie is a super kind and generous person, it shows in everything she does. I would recommend her practice to anyone I know, just wish I lived closer to her office so I could visit for appointments more often.
Not friendly. The woman with the tattoo crosses on the back of her neck is super rude.I could not believe how horrible she was.I was not allowed to even look at the glasses to see if I liked any of them. Wow!! I will never go back.
Not the best experience... So why the 5 stars? Well, hear me out.My 10 year old daughter needed glasses since she recently started squinting a lot. We are new to the area so we started calling a few places and most did not have availability for months. We found InSight Family and Pediatric Eye Care and noticed they had a few less than stellar reviews, but we understand that most places cannot please everyone so we decided to give them a try. They were able to see us in less than a week. Our initial appointment went really well. Dr Belanger was very professional and pleasant. We purchased a pair of glasses as we were told theyd be ready in a week.Initially, the plan was to get the prescription and purchase the glasses online, but since my daughter really needed them and they gave us a 1 week turnaround estimate, we purchased them right then. So far so good.A week went by and we did not hear back from them. I emailed them and Jennifer replied letting me know that the machine they use to make the glasses was broken and needed to order a part to repair it. After another week, still no glasses and Jeniffer informed me their machine was still down and in order to get the glasses faster they had to order them from a third party lab.It took nearly a month to finally get the glasses. When we finally got them, they did not have the transition lenses we ordered. I have to admit that, after waiting for a month, this would be enough of a reason to never return to Insight. But... Here is the thing, if I had written a review before we got the glasses and gave them an opportunity to make things right, it would have been a poor 1 star review. But we understand that, sometimes, things dont go as planned and it’s not what happens that should determine how many stars a business gets or deserves. It’s how they handle it and how they make things right that really matters. And let me tell you, Jennifer and Dr. Belanger went out of their way to make things right. Jennifer was super gracious, patient, understanding and took her time to explain what had gone wrong. She insisted this is not how they usually do things and we get it. Things happen. In the end my daughter did not only get one pair of glasses, but TWO. One with transitions and one without for when she is in class or just at home, best of both worlds. She loves them and gets many compliments and, more importantly, no more squinting! She can’t believe how clear everything looks now. We, of course, could not be happier for sticking with Insight. So much so, that we have decided to keep going back for our yearly exams and purchase more glasses if needed.Needless to say, we highly recommend them! If your expectations are not met, give them a chance and they will make it right.
The Dr was great, she made it fun for my 3yr old son. I cant wait to see him in his spiderman glasses!!
Jennifer, at the front desk, is very friendly, pleasant and welcoming. I went in because I began having difficulty with focusing after many hours on the computer and felt my contact prescription had changed. My previous eye doctors had prescribed monovision (one distance and one near) contacts. Dr. Belanger informed me of the improvements of multifocal lenses over recent years. The newly prescribe multifocal contacts are great!
The doctor was very thorough and took the time to explain everything she was doing .She didnt make us feel rushed either.
I ordered bifocals and the prescription was too strong so I get headaches but I will not return to see her because of the way she has done my husband. He needed bifocals as well, and she also ordered him glasses for the computer. Complete waste! She also saw “something” in his eyes that she’s brought him back to “look at” twice since (and charged him for) with no diagnosis. He had the lenses of the computer glasses darkened for sunglasses while he drives bc he could see better driving than the computer. This cost $150, (the first two pair were $800, with insurance). He can’t see at night with the 1st pair of bifocals, so he goes to ask her about it only to be told to come back (a fifth time) and we’ll dilate your eyes and was charged another $87 today. He said no thanks. So neither of us can see clearly out of our bifocals that’s cost each of us $800. (My $800 included sunglasses). So after about $2000 we have sunglasses and blurry bifocals. Run folks. It’s a money pit.
My hubby and I had our first appointment with Dr Belanger yesterday and it was a breath of fresh air in the medical business. I work in the medical field and appreciated Dr Bs attention to detail with the exam and hands on testing. While she has what I assume to be state of the art testing she was very hands on with her test and didnt rely on machines to interpret results like my past Dr. (who I had no complaints over, he was just about 50 minutes away). While I had no complaints with my previous eye DR I instantly was thrilled to have found a new one in Dr B. She introduced me to a new contact that helped with near and far sighted vision and showed me images of an old small trauma in the back of my eye that no one had ever mentioned. My appointment was by far the most thorough of any eye exam I have ever had. Another thing I really like is we had NO pressure to go and pick out expensive frames etc... the two other Drs I saw before were almost like being taken to the gift shop after your ride at Disney. The glee and excitement over sending me to pick out new (costly frames) always seemed to be more important to the offices than my testing. We didnt feel this way at Dr Bs practice at all. Dr B also noticed a medical issue with my hubbys eyes, something that was never mentioned before. Her conservative approach with dealing with that was very impressive as she could have certainly continued with a more costly exam but her goal is to treat condition before doing so.EXCELLENT Optometry experience. We didnt know she specializes in pediatrics too, so that is a PLUS
Will knowingly overcharge a patient $400 for a $70 frame. Then refuse to fix the lenses without an extra $90 even with a warranty since the warranty apparently only covers frame damage. Extremely greedy practice from what Ive seen. Plenty of eyecare centers that do a better job for cheaper nearby.
I will stick with My Eye Dr. Only came to a different eye place because everyones schedule was out to the ended of January and i needed one quickly. I needed to get glasses because I ripped my contact and I wanted to make sure I had something for a back up. The front staff was nice, the new lady that said it was her second day I believe was wonderful! She was super nice and friendly! The dr not so much. I hate going to places that basically push you through a apt as fast as they can. Did not feel like she cared, it was boom boom boom through each thing and hardly speaking unless telling where to look! At the end I asked if maybe I could buy a contact explaining mine ripped and my eye was hurting. She said she couldnt without doing an exam for a prescription. I explained I already had a prescription and with the holidays I would take longer time to recieve my contacts and I needed one asap. Having a ripped contact hurts! The dr said well then you can order them then, speaking about online. And then just walked out the room. She did not say bye, have a nice day, the exam is over nothing. I will not be going back! Giving 2 stars because of the lovely new lady that helped me in the beginning.
Wish I could give this place a better rating. I showed up for my appointment today, 30 minutes early, only to be created with “Oh, I remember your name, but I must have forgotten to make your appointment.” As a night shift worker, who has just worked 3 12 hour shifts; I am completely tired. I could have already been sleeping for 2 hours now after a long weekend. The receptionist was extremely rude. She didn’t even look to see if she would be able to squeeze me in after her mistake. She only stated that she must have forgotten because they are short staffed. My family will never come back here!
I would highly recommend this eye care center. The receptionist was great! She checked us in and talked to us until it was our turn. The doctor was great with my 3 year old. She took her time and made it fun for him.
Dr. Belanger is the best and most thorough Optometrist I have been to. Her office has been a delight to work with over the past few years. Being a health care provider myself, I understand the importance of quality care. Book your appointment today, you won’t regret it!
I was pleasantly surprised at the individualized attention I received. I was not rushed, the exam was thorough and things were explained better than Ive ever had them explained by anyone in my twenty years of seeing eye doctors. The personalized visit did not end after the exam. Janet and Dr. B. both took turns helping me pick out frames. They acted like a best friend would and told me when a frame was not the best look for me! When I returned to pick up my glasses, Dr. B. made sure the fit was perfect and explained the basics of eye glass cleaning, which I had never had explained before! My entire experience was pleasant from beginning to end! Thanks so much for providing such thoughtful and personalized care!
I have had a terrible experience with this dr. At our first appointment we waited 45 minutes past our appointment time to even get back to a exam room. She started with my 7 year old son and needed to dialate his eyes.. she explained to him that it was like getting soap in his eyes so then as it stung a little he was yelling no more soap in my eyes— not a great analogy for a young child.I explained to her that I wanted to order more contacts and brought in the current prescription I had which were one a day lenses. She gave me a trial of a 30 day lens which didn’t work for me. She didn’t ask what I preferred she didn’t ask if I wanted a 30 day lens or a one a day. She didn’t explain what the trial was I still can’t even tell you what brand it was.The glasses I chose for my son were $350 and at checkout my total was $750 when I asked why they told me that there was a one year of the 30 day contact I had just tried on 30 mins ago.. they didn’t tell me that just tried to charge me without even knowing.. thank goodness I asked what the charges were. After wearing the trials for 3 days I decided I didn’t like them my eyes were burning and not focused by early afternoon.. I called and requested a prescription for my previous brand of one a days and they told me I had to order a trial first. She then ordered me a trial of the lenses I had been wearing for the past year and after a month of waiting they finally came in. She had me try on one pair and kept the other 4 pair of the trial pack. She then refused to give me the other 4 and told me that I could pay $25 for the other 4 of my trial pack.
This was my first time at this Office and I highly recommend it to anyone that needs a Eye Dr. I purchased both glasses and contacts and Dr. B and her front desk receptionist was very helpful in helping me pick out the right fit of glasses for me. Dr. B also described to me in a very detailed manner on how to care for my contacts and if I didn’t like them she would gladly let me try another pair so I was satisfied and comfortable:
Johnston County National Alliance on Mental Illness would like to thank Insight for their donation for the April 18th Community Outreach Day being held at the Cleveland Draft House!
I have to go back on my original review. I did get a bad taste in my mouth my first time around but after a couple phone calls with Jennifer and doing her very best giving me the Service I was waiting for originally! I think we will give them a shot they have gained a customer back 2 thumbs up for Jennifer! Thanks Insight!
Dr. B, was a complete change of pace for me and eye care. She listened to my needs and made sure I was completely satisfied with my care. Shes very patient, I bet I tried on every pair of glasses she had. Thanks Dr. B.If you are looking for a new eye doctor, I highly recommend InSight Family and Pediatric Eye Care.
The doctor is VERY thorough. Equipment seems more modern/high-tech than my prior optometrist’s office. Receptionist got me in the next day, despite my waiting until the last minute to call. I’m taking one star off because the cost of my exam and contacts at InSight is significantly higher than where I used to go. That being said, you get what you pay for, and I’m willing to pay more for exceptional eye care even though I complain about the cost.
Super nice Doctor and staff in a small office setting. The doc did tests I had not experienced before, and was very thorough due to my diabetes. Im sure this will be my home base from now on!
Not good stuff. Poor communication and service.
Insightful, kind, thorough. High level of knowledge, intelligent. Excellent doctor. -- Regarding the year+ old comments about office reception: I had no trouble. My advice is to try the office on good faith. I dont think those criticisms are applicable anymore. The level of care is very high, and worth the effort.
VERY DISHONEST PEOPLE. Look at the other reviews to confirm my story! If I could give these people 0 stars I would. My wife called before our visit to verify they were participants in our insurance. The receptionist validated that they were. At the appointment my wife gave them our insurance card and again the receptionist verified our coverage. My daughter had her exam and at the end the receptionist told my wife that you dont have any vision coverage. In fact, we have excellent vision coverage and I just used it a month before at LensCrafters. The exam should have $0. The receptionist told my wife she had to pay $99, then tried to convince my wife that our five year-old daughter needed $400 glasses! These people are classic bait-switch operators. They tell you your covered, then force you to pay at the end. VERY DISHONEST PEOPLE. I went into the office the following day with a print out showing my entire family coverage. I asked to speak to the Dr. but she refused to see me. The receptionist looked at my print out and said oh, if you had brought this with you the day of the appointment you would have been covered. What?? we gave them our insurance card, on the back theres a number that states vision questions call... The receptionist never called, she just decided we didnt have coverage. I told her I wanted a refund of the $99 my wife paid and they refused. The Dr. would not speak to me. I gave them my number and asked that they call me when the Dr. was available. They never called me.Terrible experience. I filed a complaint with the BBB.
I’m so grateful Dr. Belanger recommended me for the dry eyes workshop. I found it very informative and helpful. Offering this workshop is one of the many reasons I will continue to see Dr. B for my eye care.
I have been completely blown away by the initiative that Dr. Belanger has shown during this tumultuous time. Not only did she reach out to our hospital to offer her own practices items, she also coordinated with others in the community to continue offering us support. It makes me glad to know we have providers like her serving our community. Shes the kind of person Ive been looking for to care for my familys eye health and I wont hesitate to make the switch just as soon as this pandemic blows over. Thank you again Dr. Belanger!
I would NEVER recommend this office/ provider to anyone. She is committing fraud at every turn. She refused to honor the warranty I purchased for children’s glasses. She refused to discuss the situation face to face and instead sent her under experienced office staff to do her “dirty work”. Hold out cause she’ll offer you a better deal if you don’t like her first deal! Her office staff is very defensive and unable to explain office policy. She does not keep records of warranty purchases. She has a questionable history of writing the wrong prescriptions for eye glasses. I ended up calling the police as she refused to give me lenses I had purchased and won’t cut them for frames I bought much cheaper elsewhere because she wouldn’t honor the warrantied frames. She is extremely unprofessional. She shows no class and rumor has it around town that she is known for giving out wrong prescriptions for eyeglasses! Your vision certainly matters to you but I assure you it doesn’t matter to her!!! She is shameful in a community of hard working people who deserve quality care at a fair price!!! Hope you enjoy the holidays Dr. Belanger! Next step is reporting you to the medical society!!!
Horrible experience with this practice. Rude, overpriced, and inefficient staff. They outsource their telephone answering service overseas, which is why you never are able to get a hold of anyone, and when you do speak with someone (who speaks English as a second language) they have no information about anything. Brought my child in for an eye exam and was told we needed glasses. Was astonished when the bill was over $500 as we had no insurance at the time. Upon obtaining new insurance coverage, I called to schedule a follow up appointment. I told them (someone from an overseas call center) we had new insurance and asked if they would like the information. I was told to just bring the card with me to my appointment. I came early and gave her my card. My child had the eye exam. I was given no information, and only when I said our pediatrician had said my childs eyesight had improved was I flippantly told Yea, its improved by one line. By the time our appointment was finished (almost 2 hours from the time I gave her my card) she still had no insurance information and told me that they do not give any information over the phone so she had been waiting for a fax. As a CDA who has gotten many insurance benefits information for my patients over the phone at my practice, I know this to be untrue. I was callously told that I would simply have to sit there and wait until she could verify my charges for the day. When I asked if there would be any other charges aside from the exam, I was rudely chastised for not giving my insurance information before I came and told that she could tell me nothing because she had no idea about my coverage. I knew I was covered at 100% for the exam and my question was not about coverage, my question was about what her charges were going to be for the visit. She was very cold and rude. I was left with many questions about my childs vision, and was still charged $35 out of pocket for a pair of plastic 3D glasses you can buy for a dollar at the dollar store. Will not be going back and would not recommend to anyone.
I tried this office for the first time and it was a big mistake that won’t happen again. I would give them no stars. When the doctor did my exam, I asked her could I get the same prescription in each eye to save me cost since one eye didn’t really make a big difference (which I already knew due to wearing the same prescription in the last 15 yrs now). She agreed to it. I was told to take the contacts out and throw it in the trash since I wasn’t going to use the prescription she first suggested which was a contact for a slight stigmatism and a regular contact. I threw it away and checked out. I paid a higher fee then I usually do at other eye doctors and what I was told when I first got there, but respected I wasn’t informed about the contact exam just my contacts price. I paid my fee and asked can I get a trial pair since I didn’t have any contacts and was told they didn’t have the one for the stigmatism. I brought it to Jennifer at the front desk attention my prescription has change. I waited for the doctor to come out after being with a patient and she told Jennifer my prescription would change and I would get the prescription by email by the end of the day. Jennifer also told me she would check with the doctor about getting a trial pair. Jennifer sent me the email with my prescription and mentioned that they don’t have a trial pair which I knew was a lie because I tried on one before asking to throw it away. I emailed her back and told her out of 15 years of getting contacts I never experienced this before of getting a trial before especially since I paid almost 100.00 to be seen. I asked in the email for a tracking number for my contacts in the email and never got a response. Called 3 times today from my number and it would go straight to the voicemail which seem strange. I called from another number and Jennifer picked up. I explained to her I emailed them asking for a tracking number and never got a response. I also asked her why the doctor wouldnt give me a trial pair and she said she had to tell me what the doctor told her. I explained to her I need contacts for my birthday pictures and she acted like she didn’t care. I asked her to cancel my order after talking to my insurance provider who told me that they can, she gave me the run around about her not being sure if that can happen. I had to get my insurance provider to take care of my needs and they called. The eye doctor lied and said she gave me a trial when she know she was lying. I am really disappointed in this place. I had to take matters in my hand and by the grace of God he took care of my needs when they didn’t do what they was suppose to do as professionals. STAY AWAY if you want to deal with honest and professional office. I should have look at the reviews before I came here.
If I could give InSight zero stars, I would. We had an appointment for an evaluation for vision therapy for my son - were transferring from another office, so we are not new to the evaluation or VT process. When scheduling the appointment, I was told insurance would cover the evaluation and that specific financial information would be discussed before the evaluation began. After being called back to the exam room 45 minutes after our scheduled appointment time, the doctor performed a VERY basic 15 minute exam, and told us we would have to schedule a second appointment in three weeks to complete the evaluation, because my son was fidgety. Maybe he was fidgety because hes an active five year old and we had to wait 45 minutes to even be seen. I brought along our original evaluation (from August) which she failed to look at, and after voicing my concerns about insurance covering a second eval so soon after the first, she assured me that it would definitely be covered. For the record, my son has fantastic union insurance, and sees SEVERAL specialists, all of which are completely covered with no co-pay. After the exam she pulled up insurance, condescendingly told me its Obamacare which it certainly is not, and said we would have to pay $242 for the 15 minute appointment (and only this appointment, the second half of the evaluation would be an additional cost), and that theyd submit to insurance and if they accepted, we would be reimbursed. Now, had I been told when I scheduled the appointment, OR when I checked in and provided the insurance information, OR even when we went back to the exam room and I was assured the appointment would be covered, that I would be responsible for upfront payment of almost $300, maybe I wouldnt be so upset. However, that is not the case. At no point was I informed that $242 would be due for an exam that didnt even cover what it needed to (again, weve been in vision therapy, weve had an evaluation, we know what to expect). InSight may be a great optometry office, but they have a terrible financial policy, and based on my experience, it seems they spread out appointments that could EASILY be done in one appointment for their financial gain. Steer clear of this office.
I selected Dr. Belanger from my insurance list due to her experience with children. Although my son is a teenager, he is terrified of anything going into his eyes. Dr. Belangers ability to relate to a teenager is wonderful! She could explain things on his level and had a super creative way of getting 3 sets of eye drops in him without issue. I also was thrilled with how efficient her staff is. Although a small office setting with 3 staff members on the day we went, we did not have to wait at all! It is clear this is a well run ship.Kara Gallagher and Joseph Gooch
I had my first visit a few weeks ago and it was amazing! I had went to a different doctor last last time. The exam went fine but I never really liked my glasses. The very first pair Dr. Belanger picked for me were my favorite of all the ones I tried. Now Im wearing glasses I just love!
Dr. Belanger is amazing! She is caring, patient, thoughtful, and a true professional. She is also very reliable with a wonderful personality. I highly recommend her.
Dr. Belanger is absolutely the best! The office is very updated, modern, and has a very welcoming feel. You wont regret your visit to Insight Family and Pediatric Eye Care!!
Dr. Belanger was very thorough and caring. She takes the time to really know each patient and to treat the whole patient. I have referred many patients to her and will continue to do so as she is fantastic!
Dr. Julies exam is VERY thorough. She takes the time to explain and in very easy to understand terms. Makes you feel like you are her most important patient.
I would recommend Dr.Belanger to anyone. I have been to different eye doctors since 2018, when I had my car accident. I see double vision and my vision changes every few weeks. Dr.Belanger, told me my best option would be a hard contacts. I always wore regular contacts so had no clue what to expect. The day I received my contacts, my left contact got stuck in my eye. It took me hours to try to get it out. Around 830pm, I called Dr.Belanger after hours number. She was at a resturant and sat on the phone with me for about 30 minutes trying to guide me to get the contact out.Dr.Belanger is very helpful and will go out of her way to help you.
Dr. Belanger was fantastic with my 6 year old! She was upbeat, engaging, and explained each step in terms that could be understood by my child. My other children have an appointment with her this Thursday. We were impressed and would recommend!
Dr Belanger and her staff are very nice. From the time you walk in the door and are greeted by Jennifer til the time you leave they treat you like Family. Dr Belanger takes her time with each patient and listens to you. If you are looking for a new eye doctor I would highly recommend Dr Belanger.
Daughter went up there with a contact stuck to her eye. They wouldn’t even look at it until insurance was sent over since my mom took her. Well they gave wrong email addresses for me to send it to and didn’t even take a second to take a look. No one else was there! I will never step foot in this place again. How cold you turn someone away like that.To your response: You gave her incorrect emails as I have the mail delivery errors. Regardless you could have taken 2 seconds to just look in her eye, but you didn’t! That’s sorry care as a so called doctor. It’s all about the money not about the well-being of a patient for you guys.
Absolutely DISAPPOINTED.I called the office last week to request eye appts for my 6 children. The administrative staff is absolutely wonderful! On the phone and in person, she is very knowledgable and personable.Yesterday was the first appt for my 2 oldest children, but one of them couldnt make it, so I swapped out for another child. This was a non issue. However, I was 4 minutes late, so we only had time for one child. Out appt time was 5:15, I showed up at 5:19 and paperwork was complete by 5:29. We did not leave the office until after 7pm. The dr not only completed the eye exam, but apparently she also handles the insurance, picking out glasses, and everything else.I was upsold on $85 anti glare protection for my daughters glasses, that I was never made away was OPTIONAL. (Thats my fault, I should have asked - live and learn)Today I took my 2 middle boys for their visits. Neither of them needed glasses. HOWEVER, my son has a congenital freckle on the corner of his tear duct area and she wanted to take a picture of it. Ok... take a picture. (I was never made aware she was going to charge me for this quick snapshot of a freckle.)My other son had an eye lash separate from his others. One eye lash that was plucked out with ease the last minute of the appt. (Also, never made aware this was a separate charge )When it came to paying today, my $20 VSP copay X 2 children ($40) magically turned into $131. I was charged over $90 for this doctor to take a picture of a freckle and pluck an eye lash. Mind you, they have had these things for 10 years. Their pediatrician never had a concern around this. After questioning this and a 5 minute argument about charging for things that were authorized or even mentioned, I was refunded the extra costs.I immediately canceled any future appts for my children moving forward. The dr is great with children and very soft spoken with them. I will give her that. But that trust is absolutely broken after last night and today. I trusted you with my 6 children and you tried to take advantage of my family by uncharging, over charging, and being deceitful.LOOK AT YOUR BILL AND ASK QUESTIONS!Also, plan for at least 1.5 hours for your 30 minute appt. You cant be 5 minutes late, but the same courteousty is not given for MY time.
Dr. Belanger is excellent in her work. She is thorough, but also patient and caring. I recommend her very highly. She and I are friends outside of her workplace. But with that said, I have been a patient of hers since she opened her Clayton office, and I will continue to be her patient for a very long time because I am so pleased with her work.
Dr. Belanger is very caring and thorough when it comes to eye care. She also does an excellent job with explaining any issue with my eyes. Just recently, I had pollen in my eyes, which caused dryness and itching. She prescribed the necessary treatment and gave specific instructions for me to follow to keep my eyes healthy during the pollen season. I trust my eyes and the care of them with her.
Dr. Belanger was amazing with my 2 year old son Currys first eye exam. Even though he has to have glasses he will still be handsome. Hands down this is the place to go
Dr. Julie and the staff are very courteous and helpful. I receive the most in depth examination that can be had. I had cataract surgery last Fall. Dr. Julie recommended Dr. Isaac Porter, and that was another great experience. I no longer wear contacts, nor glasses. Regards, Shirley
Our experience with Dr. Belanger was very good. My children received thorough eye exams and she seemed very professional and knowledgeable. I cant give 5 stars because I found dealing with the office overall to be frustrating. The phone does not seem to be answered, so making an appointment requires leaving a voice mail or sending an email and waiting for a call back that does not come the same day. Also, I found the contact lens fitting fee (which is not always covered by insurance) to be very high. It was more than double the amount I paid at our prior optometrist.
Friendly, efficient and thorough! This is exactly the place you want to choose for your eye care.
Hands down the best eye exam in Raleigh area. Yearly exams by Dr Belanger over the past four years have always been positive experiences. Just today picked up my new glasses from her Clayton office that took just one week to arrive. Called for appointment, saw the doc, got the glasses all in 1 week and two days-cant ask for anything better.Ive highly recommended her to all I know that have lousy vision, theyve all thanked me.
She is very professional and easy to talk to. She genuinely cares about each of her patients, and strives to make sure they are taken care of. I wont go anywhere else!
Excellent experience! The office was very comfortable and well laid out. The equipment looked up to date and was well maintained with an obvious focus on hygiene. Dr. Belanger was extremely professional and thorough. I learned more about my eyes than all my previous eye exams put together. I will definitely be coming back and not afraid to refer my friends.
If I could give this zero stars, I would. I called the practice on 9/19/19 when my sons school stated he seemed to be having vision issues/ headache. When I called Insight, I reached a voicemail. I left a message that I needed to make an appt, but my call was not returned that day or the next. I ended up scheduling an appt with our pediatrician. I was told that it seemed he had floaters, which was a very common thing, but that we needed to see an eye doctor just to make sure that there were no other issues.I received a returned call from the office staff on Mon. 9/23 (4 days later) to schedule my sons appt. and was told theyd been closed the week before, yet the voicemail said nothing about the office being closed. I scheduled the appt for my son and emailed his insurance card to the office so they could verify our vision plan. I received a call from the office staff the next day and was told that my email did not come thru, so I was asked to please fax a copy of the card. I did and the staff called me back to let me know she had verified my benefits, that she had everything she needed and that I would just need to be prepared to pay my $30 copay. She was very nice and professional.Id looked at the website, so I was really shocked when we arrived to find the doctor sitting at the front desk, arguing with an elderly lady regarding charges. I even texted my husband and told him I could just feel the tension in that place. Again, the office staff was very nice, but I could not shake the feeling I had when hearing the tone the doctor was using while talking to a patient right there in the open at the front. We were called to the back about 25 mins after our appt time. At first I thought that was absolutely ridiculous, but I quickly figured out the reason for the doctor running behind is the fact that she does everything herself and does not even allow her office staff to assist patients in picking out glasses/frames.The doctors interaction with my son was good. She did well with him. A tech did not run any sort of tests, etc. The doctor is the one who dilated his eyes and told us to have a seat in the waiting room. At the end of the 20 min wait while my sons eyes dilated, the doctor called us back into the room. She asked me about my vision plan. I explained to her that I did not know very much about it, as vision plans are typically not as clear cut as medical, but I did tell her that I had seen the printout of my vision benefits sitting up front when I checked in. The doctor literally jerked the paper off the desk where she was sitting and swung the door open to go talk to her office staff. When she returned to the room, I asked her if she had everything she needed. Her answer was, Nope!! I apologized & told her that I was told that they had a copy of my vision plan & that all I needed to do was be prepared to pay my $30 copay. I told her I received a phone call notifying me of that a couple days prior. She then, in a very condescending tone said, Shes been with me a week! (ok, not my problem that your staff is new!) The dr did not complete the exam, as my vision benefits were not clear to her & she was afraid that she would not get paid for all services rendered. She even told me so. She gave us a very disturbing prognosis, stating that my son had vitreous detachment. That is something that is VERY uncommon in pediatrics. When I tried to ask questions, she told me that we would have to discuss this at the next appt. When we got back up to the front desk & I tried to pay the copay, she made some rude remarks to her office staff, basically reprimanding her in front of me. It definitely was not the receptionists fault. We got a second opinion w/another dr the next day. Detailed tests were performed and while my son does need glasses, he does not have the issue that Dr. Belanger told me he had, and we have tests that prove it.I have cancelled his future appt w/Insight.
This practice is understaffed both times I have been in there and parking can be challenging with the thriving chiro office next door. Its been a while since I had my child there and trying to get someone on phone to make an appointment didnt happen. I ended up going somewhere else that had more people, who acted like they were really happy to see us, learn about us instead of how we were making payment, and they call after the fact to follow up and didnt seem to be about hurry up we need your credit card. Sometimes you can just tell if someone is really passionate about what they are doing and want to do it even if they werent getting paid. I got the feeling that this practice was counting pennies, and the Dr. Seemed like a middle age bitter lady with lots of cats, lol. Maybe she was just having a bad day. She was very short answered, and I felt like my business wasnt appreciated. There are lots of eye care options....I wouldnt go back again.
Dr. Bellanger has been my sole source for eye care a couple of years now. She is friendly and professional and has answered any question I may have about what is going on with my aged eyesight. I have diabetes and HBP, glaucoma and trifocals, and she keeps up with all that, keeps my primary physician informed, and works well with my pharmacy. Her staff are friendly and courteous. The equipment is up to current technical levels expected and she is very patient with my strong blink reflex. Highly recommended.
Excellent Eye Doctor! Very clean and neat. The staff is very knowledgeable and polite and ready to help.
Dr. Belanger is very patient and thorough. I would recommend this practice to anyone needing eye exams or glasses. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.I will return and bring friends!
My experience was similar to Tonyas, but I would still give the practice five stars. I am a doctor in a different field and appreciate how thorough the doctor was. She found something slightly unordinary and performed extra tests, explaining everything along the way. The only con was that I called at least three times to set up an appointment. The first time the receptionist was busy so she took my name and number and said she would call back. That didnt happen. I called again and gave my name and number before my connection was lost and there was no sign of anyone trying to call back. My advice: do not pass up a great doctor just because you have to call about insurance, glasses, or appointments a few extra times.
Cares about her patients and and works to give the best eye care possible!
Dr. Belanger is a professional and caring doctor, and I highly recommend her!
Dr. Belanger is one of the few doctors I have met who really cares about their patients and educates on what contributes to your overall eye health. I have had ups and downs with my blood pressure and it was Dr. Belanger who revealed that the capillaries in my eyes were stressed which could deteriorate my eyesight over time - that was a wake up call! She has state of the art equipment and is dedicated to her profession and furthering her skills to help care for her patients. Shes also great with kids and making sure they start off on the right foot with good eye health!
I hadnt seen an eye doctor in many years since I see ok and my family has good eyes. Dr. Belanger caught changes inside my eyes and ordered tests right away. Im not happy about what she found but Im so glad she caught the issue before I had permanent damage to my right eye. Her staff is also really helpful. My new glasses let me see everything!
Such a caring Dr. Great place to bring the family!
Absolutely awful experience with this office. I had my eyes examined in February of this year. I was given a minor prescription to use only while performing certain activities. I started a new job and noticed I had trouble staring at computer screens all day, so I figured maybe this is one of those activities I was given a prescription for.I called the office to verify what those activities were and was told they were not written down in my file. The person I spoke with told me the doctor would give me a call to follow up. That was a week ago. I called on a daily basis and left voicemails everyday for someone to please call me back so I could get this prescription filled, and received no response. I also sent an email to the office, and again, no response.I cant believe the level of disregard and disrespect I have been shown by this office. I am still waiting to hear back before I buy a new pair of glasses (which may or may not help with the problem I am having). It is one thing for the office to call me and tell me to come back in for another examination, but its completely unacceptable for them to just flat out ignore me.I am now considering just going to another eye care facility and having another exam done so I can find out what is going on. The fact that I have to do this because I cant get an answer from this practice is just mind boggling to me.I will NOT be returning to this practice ever again, and would NOT recommend going there. Im sure there are better offices out there that care more about responding to their patients.
Dr. Julie Belanger of InSight Family and Pediatric Eye Care in Clayton is a thoroughly professional and genuinely caring provider of eye care health services, as well as being a dispensing physician for eye glasses and contact lenses. I appreciate her professional concern very much.
Dr. Belanger is a very knowledgeable, caring doctor.
Dr. B is an amazing person, truly fortunate to have met her.
The staff at InSight has been both competent and friendly; Dr Belanger has been very thorough, answering questions, offering an alternative to my vision needs that I hadnt considered. :)
I have dealt with a wondering eye most of my life till I met Dr. Belanger and she referred me to have surgery to correct this issue to Dr. Joan Roberts. Thanks for everything Jerome
I had to leave after waiting for 45 minutes. Slow, slow, slow!
Dr. Julie Belanger is a fantastic doctor!April 2016, my teenage son was experiencing episodes of vision loss; this occurred several times before he lost his peripheral vision for little over a month This was a very, very scary time for us both. Confused and full of worry, we were referred to Dr. Julie Belanger at Insight Family & Pediatric Eye Care. After she examed my son; she suggested that his heart needed to be checked immediately and recommended that I take him over to the hospital emergency room; which I did. Only to be told that he is too young & healthy and he wouldnt have any heart problems. For the next month, statements like these became very commonly heard from the medical professionals we saw. During this time, Dr. Belanger monitored him closely. She demanded that his heart be checked out and quickly spoke up when things werent getting done by these other doctors. She expressed her concern for her patient and the importance of having these tests done. This was a huge deal because all other doctors did not want to believe it was his heart (Rex & Wake med ER doctors, primary care doctor, & cardiologist). There was a point that Dr. Belanger had gotten frustrated with the inattentiveness of nothing getting done and the dismissal of her patient and his health. She began closely communicating with my sons doctors so that the right tests were getting done; only because of her requests! However, my sons health continue to deteriorate, as we waited for these appointments and tests to be conducted. The outcome of these tests found that my son had a PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale). This meant there was a hole between the two upper chambers of his heart! By time, this was discovered my son had experienced several TIAs (mini strokes-along with the peripheral vision loss) all because the doctors (except Dr. Belanger) saw a young boy in front of them and assumed he had a healthy heart. Believe me, this was very frustrating because neither myself or son could get a reasonable explanation to why he was experiencing all these symptoms. Basically, turned away from two emergency rooms without the proper treatment my son deserved. If it wasnt for Dr. Belanger medical expertise and her endless efforts to get other doctors (even the cardiologist) to realize the importance to evaluate his heart, my son might not be here today! I honestly mean that too!May 2016, my son underwent surgery to close his PFO and he is now doing great! I am forever grateful for this wonderful doctor. She was a true blessing to us. Dr. Belanger comes highly recommended from both myself, and son. She stands by her patients and their needs, even when it means advocating for their needs to other doctors/specialists. Shes absolutely amazing!
Appointment went okay. Called after fitting with new lens, which caused discomfort. Never returned call. Now refused to fit and change perscription. Really deserves 0 stars.
Well, my initial thoughts about InSight, after taking our young son, were very positive. The Dr. was very professional and explained everything very thoroughly. We were given a time frame of when we could expect our sons glasses to come in. I waited an addl week after that timeframe and called the office several times, to find that no one was available. I left several messages, with no call back. When I finally got in touch with someone, they took my info so someone would call me back. Lets just say, that was in April and im still waiting on a phone call. Now my sons eye problem is only getting worse and we cant file a claim for a second pair without being charged full price. I would have recommended this place, but they are NO GOOD with following up! My family will not be returning.
The doctor has her way with kids! Great atmosphere!
I called around pricing appointments. I could never get a clear price on how much an appointment was and the people answering the phone sound like they have no idea what is going on.
Greedy no good terrible do not waste your time with this lady
Very professional and caring service! 👌🏼
Excellent care!
Ill go back.
Dr.Balenger is short staffed, overbooked, and clearly having staffing issues. If you are looking for a Dr. that values your needs and time frame keep looking. Her staff is not prepared to help with insurance questions. Instead Dr. Balenger asked me to call the insurance company for reassurance that I had coverage. As difficult as this proved to be, once I reached them and was reassured, and had them speak to the Doctor’s front desk assistant, this still wasn’t sufficient for the Dr. This was my 3rd appointment for a contact lens fitting. I had a very specific time frame, since I was leaving for an international destination. At the beginning of the fitting process the Dr. was aware of my time frame. As things turned out, she had scheduled me for a 4 pm appointment, (her scheduling convenience, not mine), the day before I needed the lenses, that ran on to after 6:30 that evening. I spent most of my time waiting. I observed other unhappy patients leaving after waiting over an hour. I was hostage to the situation, since I had paid for the fitting and had no prescription in hand. Once I received the printed prescription, I discovered it was too late to receive the lenses, even by overnight delivery, prior to my trip. Living internationally can be challenging. This kind of service, in my limited time back in the USA, is extremely frustrating. I had no idea it would be so difficult to order the lenses, that no one in the area stocks them, that the Doctor was not managing all of this into her fitting schedule with me. My trust in her was misplaced. She is very terse and seemingly self absorbed. This was made evident each time I would get situated in the patient chair with the awkward footrest. Without looking at me she would say, please shut the door. It took me two times of heaving myself out of said chair to learn her “ways”. This is a control freak who is outta control.
