Love the atmosphere and décor and the espresso beverage I had was very decent. A good selection of pastries plus sandwiches and crepes. I’ll be back!
An amazing cafe in Clearwater. After a long day at beach we decided to stop at a grindhouse for coffee and evening snacks. It is a small cafe with road side parking. The price of dishes in cafe is very reasonable and it is under budget. We ordered Almond Croissant, Hot Chocolate, Pulled Chicken Panini and White Mocha Frap. Both the snacks as well as hot drinks ordered were amazing. I usually dont like Hot Chocolate but hot chocolate of grindhouse was amazing in taste. The staff was also friendly. This is a gem of a Cafe.
Stopped by today for a yummy breakfast based on others reviews. Crepes were warm, not hot... the cheese wasnt even melted. My coffee was warm, not hot. There was only one person ahead of us so they werent busy at all. They allowed a dog inside the restaurant, which is a health hazard. The crepes in San Francisco were much better than what we found in Florida.
I enjoy their espresso a lot. I also enjoy the atmosphere there where you can hang out outside or inside while working, etc. Im hoping they get organic options soon though.
Normally go to Starbucks but decided to give this place a try on Mother’s Day with my daughter. The food was good. The service- terrible. Both of the baristas were rude and impersonal, unless you were a single male. I felt rushed and an inconvenience even being there when she began tapping impatiently as I was placing order.I only got half my order as I watched guests that came in after me come and go. After my daughter finished her breakfast sandwich, I finally got my crepe. No prob, they seemed a little busy. As a restaurant manager on Clearwater Beach, I give the benefit of the doubt while dining out. I decided to order another croissant. I waited at the register with my antsy toddler as the barista made and hand delivered breakfast to a guy. When you have no problem hand delivering food to multiple men in your lobby, being personable, saying thank you, and telling them to have a great day- but can’t even make eye contact to a single mom on Mother’s Day while placing her food on the counter- that’s terrible customer service.
Went to grind house for the first time instead of the usual Starbucks. When I entered, the two workers saw me but didn’t even say hello. Instead, they turned their backs on me and continued to make food. A simple, “we’ll be right with you” would’ve sufficed. I stood there for a while and they never acknowledged me.That’s not why I left though. The guy who was preparing food wiped his nose with a napkin and did not wash his hands. He did change gloves, but WASH YOUR HANDS! Nasty. I walked out and went across the street to Starbucks.
Came in early with an order for ten people and Justin didnt hesitate to take care of me with a smile! Great service ....give this man a raise!
We had a latte and tea. Service was good. The place was empty at 7 pm. They have plenty of tables. It’s nicely decorated. They also have outside area. My latte tasted good but it was more like coffee with milk because it barely had any foam. It was also super hot. They only have paper cups. They also offer variety of pastries.
Its not Starbucks!! Yes, the service is a little slow and there upholstery is a bit worn. But, it has character and it is comfortable. The espressos beans are rocking!!! My only issue is they do like so many other espresso places commit the sin of brewing into metal cups and then pour the contents in you cup. This eliminates the creme. But it least they use heated cups so the espresso is hot when you drink it.
Great atmosphere. I love to grab a cold brew and study here. Great people too!
Awesome coffee. We walked in the door and it smelled Heavenly. As she was baking chocolate chip cookies. Was awesome me and my son had two cookies with coffee. Made an awesome breakfast last week we had breakfast sandwiches they are amazing.
Great coffee drinks! Our crew also shared a turkey avocado wrap, a club panini, and a couple of the homemade desserts, all of which were delicious! Be patient, there is usually limited staff but they are all so helpful and friendly. Great menu choices and fun to sit outside and people watch.
Nice staff, really clean store, lots of seating, great downtown Clearwater sites and feel, daytime parking np, slightly bitter aftertaste on coffee. I think Kahwa always has that taste though. Lady that waited on me was wonderful and went above and beyond to get my coffee exactly like I want it. Food smelled good. Will go back to try the food.
Terrible service rude barista absolutely terrible coffee the apple fritters were dry and stale like they had been sitting for days, visiting from out of state i wont be coming back to this coffee shop very bad experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Nice locally owed shop in downtown Clearwater! Cool atmosphere and delicious beverages and snacks! I had an iced caramel coffee.
Walked in and walked right back out. The woman behind the counter was coughing all over everything without covering her mouth, with her mask around her chin. No attempt at all to even turn her head. She did this all while making drinks. Even without a pandemic that’s totally unacceptable.
Location was dirty, staff did not seem to know what they had to offer, and they forgot one if the two items we ordered.
The crepes were VERY delicious! Good service and especially by Sarahi
Always quick, great coffee for the money, cant believe people still go to the Starbucks across the street. This is where true coffee is made in downtown Clearwater.
Great little coffee shop that makes really good coffee and expresso drinks. The Freddo is the drink I usually order. They also have sandwiches, crepes and desserts.
I just discovered this coffee shop and Im in love! Ever since Starbucks teased us with that Shaken BROWN Sugar expresso, I sent been able to find a cup of coffee that tips it. Well GrindHouse i had the closest thing to it and its delicious! Also, the crepes are OUT OF THIS WORLD🌎🚀! I got the nutella and banana crepe and it was beautifully plated and perfectly made. My only issue was the Internet was not connecting. Multiple people left BC of this same the girl working the counter said they was no toys to reset and someone else was in earlier and had no issues. I felt like she was being a but lazy on this front. Overall though, a great experience
Why would you ever go to an international conglomerate (you know the place Im talking about) when every town has much better quality coffee from independent little places like this. Grindhouse is cool, bohemian and laid-back with superior Kahwa coffees, food and pastries. Inside or on the sidewalk patio, THIS is the place to rev your caffeine engines in downtown Clearwater!
Great coffee and desserts! They had a lot of different choices of sweets and coffee drinks. Great location right on Cleveland Street near other restaurants and bars.
I love this place !! I usually go to drink my coffee on the afternoon !!
Average to poor pastry. Espresso not well brewed. However nice location, atmosphere and staff.
Good espresso...once I got a straw from Starbucks to drink it. They supply straws theyre just unwrapped and the employees hand them to you, WITHOUT gloves! And Im not even worried about covid, idk if they just finished scratching their butts! Come on yall.
Fantastic local Kahwa coffee and breakfast sandwiches!! Great outdoor seating and friendly service makes this a place I will look forward to returning to.
More expensive than Starbucks, with a Starbucks right across the street.
Great. Nice coffee nice place. Great service
Nice locally owned coffee shop with great selection of drinks and tasty treats. Its nice to see a local shop competing and doing well against the chain shops.
The barista was terrible, we were almost kicked out by her 🤬😤
Very clean. Good coffee and fast friendly service.
I love the look and layout of the coffee shop. The staff is really friendly. The food is on point! Plus you get amazing local coffee and can sit outside or walk around downtown Clearwater.
Great atmosphere. Wide selection of choices. I had a chicken wrap and a tea. Overall enjoyable experience. As for parking. Plenty on the street and several free lots.
Crepes coffee house. Freshly made Crepes.
Excellent coffee and the breakfast croissant was very good too.
Yummy Salads. Very Pleasent Environment. My Coffee was also to DIE for. If I could give oyu guys 6 stars, I WOULD.
I just love the atmosphere and the owners the guys I pray there you want a good cup of joe
Out of ingredients on a Sunday morning. No milk. No veggies. Bad service
Good location nice help. Great egg and cheese crosanwich.
Great coffee and croissants!
I regularly go here and the service is mediocre however today it was horrible. I ordered a mocha latte and when I received it and tasted it, it was caramel. I nicely said to the barista hey I ordered mocha and this is Carmel and she proceeded to argue with me about how my drink was mocha not caramel. First of all, I’m the one tasting it and it taste like caramel and second why would you argue with me. She did then resentfully while at the same time cutting me off in the middle of my sentence say that she would make me a new coffee so at least there was that however why would you argue with a customer and insist when you’re not the one tasting the coffee. Needless to say it was rude and annoying👎
Lattes are OK & pastries are good however not for double the price.
Coffee, almond croissant, a good book and raining day💗
We come from Springhill to grtnyour coffee. Bettrr thsn Starbucks ty
Best around I highly recommend the place
Meh. Ordered a smoothie, a hummus wrap and carrot cake. If there was any hummus in there I couldnt find it or taste it. Wrap seemed small for the price as well. (Another downtown Clearwater place gives you more inside their wraps for less $. My expectation was for a similar sized portion.) What was there tasted great. The orange smoothie was just odd tasting. Was given chips but not given a choice or asked what flavor. My friend said the carrot cake was delicious so maybe we should just stick to that in the future. Overall feels like value of what you get doesnt make the cost of what you pay that balanced.
We werent sure what a little coffee shop would have to offer, but saw online they had crepes. So we went for breakfast. It was cheap and super yummy. We had the tiramisu crepe $3.99 and the strawberry crepe $5.19 and a ham, egg, cheese croissant $5.99. They were all amazing and filling. I got a cold brew as well, which was very strong but great after adding some creme, sugar and cinnamon. I am definitely going back to try lunch.
Sat down for some coffee & pastry (& picked up some coffee to go). Local coffee/snack hotspot in prime downtown location. Interior is well lit with upscale, urban vibe. Prices are reasonable. Not so, unfortunately, with the service.Justin and Julia were the servers on duty during two separate visits during slow time. (Only one other table was occupied at any given time.) Both servers were inattentive and clearly disinterested in their work. They certainly could use some coaching RE greeting & responding to customers, as well as attention to details. As an example, wet floor signs do little good to prevent slippage when placed in corners away from spots that are wet. Greeting customers as they walk in (or upon arrival at counter during attempt to get to-go coffee upon exit) also goes a long way towards making them feel welcome - as opposed to requiring a customer to stand at counter waiting as two servers stack dishes and wipe down counters until;, eventually, the customer makes his presence so obvious one cannot but see.My only recommend is to the management: Try fixing what is broken. Service is key to keeping customers. Disinterested employees make for bad reputations.
Anthony and his crew are the best addition to Cleveland Street in a very long time. They are super friendly and have a wonderful local scene cozy atmosphere that cannot be beat. And they give my thirsty pooch water when its a bit too swampy outside for him to stand. :)Love the St Pete roasted java too.
Good food, awesome pastries, great coffee and not an expensive place! The staff are friendly and the place looks great with a steam-punk theme. Very inviting and homey.
Good coffee
Waited 32 minutes for one egge & cheese on croissant. They were not frying the eggs fresh, but scooped out of a warmer, so why the crazy wait?
Good food, comfortable ambiance, HORRIBLE service. I’ve been there several times. They don’t have adequate ventilation in their food prep area so the smell of greasy smoke will permeate your skin, hair and clothes. Most recently I took my wife and young daughter for lunch. We were the only patrons there when we placed our order. Nearly 20 minutes went by when we realized that the 12 people who came in after us were served and eating. My wife went to the counter to inquire about our order and the young man scolded her saying loudly that they were busy. Really? If he had been gracious, offered an estimate of time or a simple apology we would have felt very differently. But to scold a woman who asked about her meal because her child was hungry? How does being busy excuse serving 12 grossly out of order become become the patron’s fault? Some advice for the owner:1. Train your staff to be courteous.2. Change your menu so that your understaffed help can provide a decent level of service.3. Hire more staff.4. Install a more powerful ventilation system. From now on I’ll stick to Starbucks across the street. I thought I was doing the right thing by giving a small business my business. No appreciation.Update: I posted feedback on their Facebook page. The owner deleted it. Seems that the rude staff get their cues from the owner.
I come here once every few days or so to get a coffee or a sandwich. The coffee is legit, the food is delicious, and everything is reasonably priced. Ive been here several times yet have never gone to the Starbucks right across the street.
Have been here a few times. Not a bad coffee shop. Make a decent cup of coffee and nice vibe.
Always have a pleasant time when I go there love their expresso
The coffee is decent. I ordered an ice latte that had bits of bean at the bottom, but that was not the issue. However, I cannot get over how horrified I was by the dessert I bought. I purchased a piece of red velvet cake (for almost $8 might I add) and bit into it. It was obviously freezer burnt. And the frosting was not fresh and the cake was dry. The workers should have warned how that cake was not fresh at all. I looked at it and saw a long piece of gray hair baked inside. I would not eat anything from them in the future. I will be taking this back to the store ASAP tomorrow.
Adorable setting, friendly staff, and LOVE they are across from Starbucks. The smoothie was okay and the breakfast sandwich, not bad. Was a little disappointed, but may go try the crepes before I rule it out. Really like what they stand for and behind. Kudos.
A very pleasant local business.
Really good coffee! Flavorful and bold. Very friendly staff too. The decor is creative and welcoming, without being too in your face. Ill definitely be coming back!
Two workers and 2 customers (me and my girlfriend). They took pretty long - like 8-10 minutes) to complete our order, and then they didnt even alert us that the drinks were ready. Just nonchalantly put them up on the counter and expected us to just know. Considering it was just us and them in the restaurant, I dont see why they couldnt have just called it out or brought it right to us.In the end, the food and drinks were quite good. It was the service which failed to impress, but Im sure the service changes with the different shifts.
We went in for a cappuccino and dessert tonight. Food is fine, price is outrageous for its value, service is poor, the fabric of seats is ripped. My friend ordered a piece of cake, got the wrong piece of cake, and went there to clarify, server was annoyed at her. They forgot our dessert order and had to remind them. The only thing they remembered was the cappuccino.
Loved this upscale coffee shop located right in the heart of downtown Clearwater. Service was extremely friendly. The frozen frappuccinos were delicious. The menu offers many great options for food. Was happy to see that Gluten Free items are available. Even if not baked fresh in house its nice to have the option. Definitely want to try more from the menu.
The crepes are amazing.
Smelled the aroma of coffee wafting from their open doors and just had to come in. They have a terrific selection of custom coffee brews and an assortment of delicious pastries. I met the owners son, Anthony, and he even sat down with me to talk about the cafés history and their signature drinks. Ill definitely be going back here again. 5/5 stars!
Great coffee and food in a relaxed atmosphere
I love their homemade ice-cream and their pastries are awesome.Ive also had their special grilled cheese sandwiches, the chicken caesar salad, and their gluten free turkey avocado wraps . They are flavorful and unique.Friendly staff, fast service with a very homey feel. The decor reminds me of some of the shops youd see in NYC with artistic carved murals on the wall.Id definitely recommend eating there.
Coffee used to be good. Not sure what happened but my latte this morning tasted like watered down milk. :(
This was a new try for the wife and I. The food was good and came out fast the coffee was strong and bold. Overall its what you are looking for in a coffee shop. Totally a 5 star.
The food was GREAT. The ambiance was excellent. The prices are a little high, but just share a wrap and get two drinks. Its well worth it.
I truly truly dont understand how people can go to Starbucks across the street… Who serve microwaved premade sandwiches. At grind house youre getting a fresh delicious sandwich, every time (the egg and cheese croissant is the best Ive ever had), and incredible LOCALLY roasted coffee. Why would anyone choose anything different, especially locals!? Support your local businesses!
Amezing people, good coffee, fantastic vibe...
Best coffee in the county. Starbucks has nothing on them.
Good coffee and wlel priced and good variety food overall, nice environment. And good location as well. Close to Clearwater beach.
Great place for coffee, or grab a quick bite to eat, or to just chill out. I love the mildly steampunk interior design!
Cozy local place with a hip urban vibe ideal for lunch/coffee. The salads are large and fresh. Made-to-order paninis, crepes and cuban sandwiches. Decent selection of vegetarian fare. Delicious pastries & deserts. Great coffee. If you are in a HURRY, I suggest waiting to go until you have a bit of time to spend. Everything is made to order and worth the wait, but does take a bit longer.
Delicious crepes & croissants, & more! Fun place if youre interested in seeing real Seaorg people. Perfect people watching spot in the heart of Scientology cult world. Flagg buses moving cult members between buildings constantly. Just know -you are also being watched👀. Cameras everywhere. Beautiful area with cool dolphin statues.
Great place for coffee!! I also love their bakery selection and the crepes.
Good and coffee ok. However, when I ordered over the phone they asked for payment over the line. After I told them that I will just pay when I get there, they ended up not making the food until I physically made the order. I felt very disrespected and it just left a pretty bad vibe.
Soooo yummy!!! Tried a few different coffees and a crepe, no complaints! The staff is super nice as well
Great coffee, tasty food, really good ice cream. Nice place to go for the un-Starbucks coffee experience. Comfortable atmosphere and staffed by people who want to serve you.
Baristas are very knowledgeable and nice. Unique coffee flavors and excellent location. The price was on point and will definitely be back!
35 min wait time for pancake!
Another Florida Coffee Fail...I asked for a Hot Mocha stopped at 130° so I could drink it before a concert, ans was told they dont have a Thermometer. Really?? Then I was handed an Iced Coffee instead. Was completely over trying to get the coffe I ordered.
Great place to sit down and have a relaxing drink after the hectic adventure into the Scientology building
Pretty disappointed by this spot. Looked great, great atmosphere, crepes looked good. The guy on register was training so he wasn’t super knowledgeable about the menu, but he was very nice so we didn’t mind. The lady running the ovens behind him was less professional, clearly upset that he didn’t know everything off the top of his head. We were disappointed that there was no 16 oz. cup, the difference between 12 and 20 is pretty big, and the coffee was only okay. Our berry smoothie was very bland, and I would’ve like to be asked before it was assumed I’d want whipped cream on it. Smoothies aren’t milkshakes. On top of that, they offered to warm our blueberry muffin (thank you, yes please) but then completely failed to warm it when they threw it in the oven. We also saw them fail to bring our a (delicious looking) banana Nutella crepe to some customers seated outside for easily five minutes. I hope our experience here was atypical, but we won’t be back.
Amazing food! Some of the best in house made deserts and ice cream I have ever had!I love a place that loves thier food so much that they bring you samples! Nothing disappointed.
Across the street from Starbucks. Better coffee and the crepes are the best.
Love this little coffee shop and Eatery had a wonderful breakfast this morning. Its across the street from Starbucks but I would never do Starbucks. Food here so much better and the coffee is awesome.
