Good selection, Id call this curated second hand. Everything seems new and not worn out. Also pretty stylish. Mens and womens fashions, with a full selection of sizes. Its got a fresh vibe, and the staff seems nice and attentive. Obviously great prices compared to regular retail.
Was nicely setup all though it looks like they relocated so don’t go off the pictures on the website. It’s now in a small cement cabinet like room. All the stuff there is either pulled from goodwill or cheap China glasses and jewelry you can buy online cheaper than in that store. Overpriced just go to your local goodwill.
Nice little place, fun finds and good vibes.
When it comes to exchange stores Avalon exchange and Platos Closet are my favorites in Northeast Ohio
My lady friend likes what she got for the $ spend
This is my favorite resale store in Northeast Ohio. Excellent variety and good prices. I’ve been coming here for years. The plus section is nearly nonexistent, which is kind of understandable considering the store is so small, but it’s still disappointing. The reason I’ve knocked off two stars from my previous review is because most customers and employees aren’t wearing masks. I love this place so much but I definitely won’t be able to be back for awhile :( I just wish they cared more about their staff and customers
Consistently hit or miss items. In the 4 years Ive been in Cleveland Ive only found one truly nice item between this location and Coventry (and I stop into both probably once a month). They often have realtively cheap clothes or fast fashion marked at a high price (I recall a used H&M shirt for $35 and Forever21 shorts at $25 when these items would have cost that new). I much prefer to buy their new accessories like sunglasses and enamel pins. They have good selections of both at cheap prices. I dont think its just me, as typically most shoppers I see leave empty handed or with small purchases. For selling, its almost never worth it. Theyve never bought a single item from me that I am frequently able to then flip on Poshmark or at other resale shops in town. I understand thet they buy based on store needs, but its hard to hear that when the sticky board the clerk just had me read says Buying now: Mens sweaters, small to large and thats what I brought in. I also feel like the staff dont actually take the time to look at what you bring in (in order to check labels, if item has new tags, sizes, etc). The store just is not worth a trip, but if you are passing by and not too frugal it can be worth it. You will probably have a much better time at a local Goodwill, other shops in coventry like Moon Vintage, or an online shop like ThreadUp or Poshmark.TL;DR - I dont think Avalon Exchange knows what on trend means. Youre much better off visiting other local shops, or just going online for to Poshmark or ThreadUp. Staff dont take time to actually appraise what you bring in, and in store inventory is rarely wothwhile. I honestly only stop in when Im killing time in the area.
Hole-on-the-wall-kind-of-place, just like those Mexican eateries where you get surprised by delicious food at an unbeatable price. Lots of clothes and shoes for guys! Awesome and loud explicit lyrics music. Service ok.
This is pretty much the only place I get clothes from. They do an amazing job putting displays together making them all feel like brand new clothes. If you’re looking for up to date fashion and shoes that are affordable this is the place for you. Also I bought a pair of shorts for 10.50 and showed the cashier a rip on lace on the side of the shorts and they lowered the price to $5. They are great! Definitely my favorite store
This place is great, decently priced for name brand items. Clothing is fairly used and they always have a great selection of items and weekly new stuff.
Great selection, Id call this curated second hand. Everything seems new and not worn out. Also pretty stylish. Mens and womens fashions, with a full selection of sizes. Its got a fresh vibe, and the staff seems nice and attentive. Obviously great prices compared to regular retail.
Such a cool find! The place was small but had a lot of variety. The woman who helped me was so chill but still convinced me to get this badass junky retro-90s button-up, that I love so much I still havent taken off. I smell.5 stars, this place rocks.
Took a load of plus size clothes... several brand new items and like new items from Torrid, lands end, gap. Didn’t take a one. In fact- their plus size section is non-existent. It’s extremely disappointing when the average size of women is 16. They took a whole 5 minutes to go through a basket of at least 30 items. It’s almost like they looked at my size and already knew they weren’t taking anything. Plus size fashion is very under-represented in Cleveland. But at least I was able to sell most of my stuff on my own on FB Marketplace. Goes to show they could have sold it too but just chose not to.
Great store. Unique pieces. Brand names. Good prices. Good customer service.
Amazing resale shop! We are always on the lookout for vintage and designer clothing and this was the jackpot! The prices were extremely fair, the employees awesome and the shop clean and well organized. The mens section was much larger than most resale shops and even had some larger sizes. The shoes and accessories were everywhere and very good condition. They had dressing rooms to try on your awesome finds too. I will definitely be returning!
I will not deny there is beautiful clothing and great prices. I didnt feel nagged and was well helped. But the music choice was so depressing that I did not feel enthused about what I was putting on my body.
Every time Ive gone into the Avalon Lakewood location, its been an awesome experience! Ive always been able to find something perfect. The girls have always been super helpful, but NOT annoying! Everything is really organized & well kept! Love it here!
Best resale shop in the Cleveland area! Avalon is a regular destination for me. The store is clean, well organized and easy to browse. They post their best items online which gives you the opportunity to buy and hold on the spot. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The Manager Krystin is a delight! She has been my personal stylist on many a visit. I highly recommend checking them out and giving a follow on IG to keep up on their constantly changing finds!
Clothing is more expensive than your average resale shop, but always worth it! All the clothes there are high quality, and selected to be worth your time. Great mood there too.
So it says right on their website that they buy certain brands of clothing..I went there with an assortment of J Crew sweaters & Polo shirts, 2 brands that they claim to buy..They told me to take a look around while they looked at the stuff, and while doing so, I noticed how ridiculously high priced their items are... They have used NIKE shoes that are beat up and obviously well worn, and theyre asking between $60 - $80 a pair..As far as the clothes go, you can get the same exact brands and styles right down the street at Value World, for a fraction of the price...When they were done looking at my stuff, they said they werent interested in any of the items that I brought because they were winter clothing and they arent in season...Mind you, its January and about 6 degrees outside...The staff was polite and friendly, and I understand that theyre just doing their job, but overall, I wont ever waste my time coming here again. If youre planning on selling here, be sure to call first and tell them what you have. The things they are looking for are very specific and mostly high end designer clothing, which I could only assume you wouldnt get anywhere near what you were hoping for👎👎👎👎👎👎
I LOVE LAKEWOOD AVALON EXCHANGE! I always have a wonderful experience! The customer service is amazing, the white girl Emma is always so helpful and always smiling! I thought she was the manager thats how nice and sweet she was! Always look forward to coming back!
Horrible never know when to show up cause they change there hours so often, if you dont want the business then close down
Not your average “thrift store”. Absolutely love this place, minus the fact that I’ve probably spent my life savings here this year, but it doesn’t help feed my addiction that they’re right at the top of the street. I love that they put their most valuable or popular items on social media, giving you the option to buy and hold in store until you’re able to get there and see it in person. The staff is always friendly (and dog friendly) and willing to help! I had a trip planned to Greece and the staff literally walked around with me like stylists, helping me pick out some trendy items to take with me on my trip. Definitely recommend checking it out and giving them a follow on Instagram so you don’t miss their best stuff and Dollar Sale announcements!! :)
Great deals check their Instagram page before you go
I went here to sell some things not expecting much. Everything I had was brand name in near perfect condition. Coach, Dooney, Junior Drake bag, Sperrys, Calvin Klein. Employees were cordial, but not overly friendly. The girl did not even go through my entire bag. I went and sold all but 3 items to Platos Closet. I get they cant buy everything but I left feeling like I wasnt worth their time and I had wasted mine. I wont be back. (And I only got $26 at Platos Closet so it wasnt about money)
This is my place! Incredible selection of high end thrift clothes at great low prices. They get huge deliveries every week so they have to keep moving that product out as fast as they can! As a photographer I go there every single week and at least pick up a couple things. Sometimes I find some real gems! The staff is just awesome, non intrusive, but always there when you have a question. Follow their Instagram for updates on everything new. I always look forward to my next visit!
The staff greeted me when I came in and were friendly to my dog! Cool clothing at all price points! Store is clean staff is friendly.
I only go here for their yearly dollar sale - thats great! Otherwise, theyre prices are much too high for used clothing. Also the employees are kinda of too cool for school and come if condensending rather than friendly. Worth checking out to shop, but if youre looking to sell take your stuff somewhere else where they wont look down on you.
Can get a good selection if u go at the right time, they either have a lot or nothing. All quality clothes tho. When selling, what they buy is irregular. Its like the associates dont talk to eachother to see what they think. But its still a cool place.
Mediocre selection
Definitely more expensive than your average thrift store, but Avalon carries interesting, quality designs, and I picked up a pair of jeans, a tee, two tops and a dress for under $40. Already looking forward to a return trip!
Went in to sell a lot of stuff, mostly shoes.. two girls were working at the counter and the store was mostly empty. When I got to the counter one of the girls told me that they had just stopped buying 6 minutes ago.. it was 4:06. I was surprised because I checked the website before coming in and it said (still says) they bought until 5. I told the girl what the website said, she said it had not been updated... They are open till 6. I guess it just really left me with the impression that they just did not feel like going through it all. I planned on donating most of this stuff anyway, not a money issue, but many of my things still had tags on them so I figured why not give it a try. Disappointed, will never be back.
Ive been both shopping and selling with this location for about two years now, the prices are fair and as far as being the seller they actually research and know how to price your items theyre very knowledgeable and will point you in other directions if the pricing doesnt suit you or if you dont have what theyre looking for at the time. Definitely not your average thrift store feel its super cute and always clean and organized the girls are friendly and helpful but never overbearing having sold and shopped at platos buffalo exchange and a few consignment places definitely deem this place the best to go their Instagram is great to you can purchase items you like and pick them up in store. If you frequent the girls always seem to address you by name and small talk to, just a good feel all around
Love this place its one of my go to shops for clothes thank you
Dont waste your time. Went in today to sell some clothes. As a Saint Louis native, Im familiar with the chain and am now fond solely of the Saint Louis Delmar location. The girls were apathetic at best, ignoring my boyfriend and I for a good several minutes while we waited at the counter. (Mind you, the store was empty, and there were two girls chatting with one another behind the counter.) After pushing an application in his general direction, they pilfered through our clean basket of nicely folded clothes and returned it to us after looking at maybe half of it. The basket looked like a bargain bin at Walmart when they were finished, and they said we just dont need any of this in our store. It wasnt about money. Weve worked in exchange places before, and as said, I wanted to try out this location, because of my fondness for the store in Saint Louis. We did, however, have brand clothing worth at least looking at for the upcoming season, and their 30 second pilfer and lack of customer respect or even acknowledgment left us feeling drained and unwanted. We wont be returning. I wouldnt leave any stars, but I have to leave one in order to leave this review/warning to others that want to check out this store. Ive worked retail for ten years, and my boyfriend works at an exchange store currently. This is not posted out of spite, but disappointment at the lack of caring that the workers at this store have shown.
Ive seen some really cool stuff at this shop
This location ALWAYS has great customer service and the staff is always welcoming! I love their post on Instagram and when I call to order they are quick about servicing my needs!Shoutout to Emma! She helped me pick out an outfit for my date this past weekend!
Staff is wonderful and the store is super clean. Love the atmosphere!
Ok first, i have been shopping here for a long time. I love this store, i sell often, i bring my dog a lot, and they are usually super friendly and recognize me when I come in. That said, the last few months Ive been in and have a couple of unpleasant experiences. There is one tall girl with a very short haircut, who every time I sell I feel like she feels the need to correct me on what I brought in to sell, or if I have a question about something she makes me feel completely spoken down to in her answer... I think her name was Ellen, but I could be wrong. I havent ever experienced this kind of thing there before - like i said, ive been a customer for a long time. So definitely go, but maybe avoid selling when she is there.
Ok good service would go back
Found this sweet outfit here. Sweet!
Love this place. Great selection, great staff, and I find they are little cheaper than the one on coventry
I always feel like the staff are condescending when I go in there. Today, I took a couple of baskets of clothes in to sell, and the girl who was working didnt even look up when I came in. I walked up to the counter and the first thing she said to me was Sit it on the counter indicating I should place my baskets on the counter there. She seemed really irritated that I brought in clothes to sell which I found odd since theres signage everywhere encouraging you to bring in your clothes. I looked around while she went through my stuff and a lot of it looked ratty and was from brands Id never heard of. Then she called me up and told me my clothes werent the style they were looking for.Basically this place sucks. Staff is unfriendly, and I suspect they only buy from people they know.
They are super lazy and dont ever want to move to look through your items so they never buy anything I have brung in high end designer like new items that were turned down because of there lack mess to actually work they just talk on phone all day and stand outside smoking cigs
Great prices and a wide selection of dresses, pants, shorts, and shirts for men and women. Some shoes as well.
ALWAYS great deals and vintage items
Very expensive for a second hand
Great store with great sales associates.
Ive had a few experiences with Avalon. The most recent was not so bad and business ran as usual, I sold some clothing, didnt get a ton of money for it, but it wasnt a big deal. Unfortunately the time before that, I called ahead before going in to sell, was told that they would stop buying by 5 by an employee, arrived shortly after 4 and was told they had already stopped. The place was dead and none of the employees were doing anything other than talking to each other and smoking outside. They had just talked to, no more than 20 minutes before, to a customer who said they were coming in and who they gave 5 as a time, and yet they couldnt be bothered to go through like 10 items of clothing that I nicely folded for them. I then tried them again for god knows what reason and got exactly the same experience, closed buying early for no reason and disinterested/rude interaction from the employees.this location needs to A) fire most of their employees B) actually buy clothes until they say they are going to.Also I recommend going to the Cleveland Heights location even if its out of your way, the employees there were much more professional and cordial.
Great place with great clothes
Thats lit fam
Cant be beaten for heat from 2008
The people are great and friendly
The girl was nice the guy was rude but the girl the goes through the clothes was very helpful the guy in the back was just rude and ignores customers to flirt with girls while they get dressed ..
Great deals on gently used clothes
Really cute clothes at great prices
