WOW! Staff was incredibly friendly, generous and helpful. We loved kayaking in this area!! We felt it was so beautiful and tranquil. Water was calm. Tandem kayak was great and reasonable for the hour! We loved being greeted by Cooper, their daschaund too :) Overall, cant say enough good things about Indian River Marina & Kayak! Thank you guys!

I stopped in on a busy Saturday looking to purchase my first kayak. Despite the steady flow of rentals, the owner took ample time to help me. I was able (and encouraged) to try out a few different models, without feeling any pressure. The owner even helped me load and secure the kayak in my truck. Highly recommended. I wouldnt go anywhere else!

I have taken two groups of seniors to here for a large kayaking reservation of 20 people and they were amazing! Very COVID safe, helped everyone get in and out the kayaks, and sent a staff member with us to make sure everyone was ok on the water.My next day off I had I took my husband paddle boarding. We loved it and was able to take our dog with us which was amazing. We ended up buying a used paddle board and they were so generous with us.

I visited over the weekend with my dad to purchase some kayaks. First off, the fact that Indian River will let you try their kayaks out on their salt marsh before purchasing is amazing. It helped make our decision easy without second guessing if wed just spent a lot of money on purchases wed regret. But more than that, their customer service was spectacular. We worked with Sarah, who answered all of our questions (and we had a lot!) with patience and good humor. Chris, the owner, popped in and out to check on us with genuine friendliness that youll never get at a big box store. The folks at Indian River were happy to share their knowledge with us, and we walked away very happy with everything we need to spend more time on the water. Though we werent doing rentals that day, their prices for rentals are very reasonable and I will likely be back with friends who dont own kayaks themselves.

Purchased a Stellar sea kayak at this well run marina and kayak store. Several brands of kayaks available for purchase. Rentals and organized trips during the paddling season. Boat slips available, even a cute Airbnb apartment on the premises. Chris is the owner, a helpful and friendly guy.

Great place located on the Indian River in Clinton. They have a large selection and an incredible staff. Sarah and Chris made my kayak purchase a breeze and went above and beyond my expectations. Highly recommend!

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. This is a great small business. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. They helped me with purchasing a kayak I’ve had my heart set on for so long. I’ve looked for it for months and couldn’t find it anywhere. Indian River marina and kayak was great and the transaction was very smooth. I highly recommend this business to anyone looking to buy a kayak. They even loaded it on my car when I got there! This place is amazing!!!

We joined a group for awesome sunset paddle with Indian River Marina and Kayaking. Great opportunity if you dont own a kayak. If you are new to kayaking, no worries they guide you along. Youll be on your way in no time. Loved it!

This is our favorite spot to rent kayaks in the shoreline area. Very scenic area, tons of wild birds, large area to kayak ... even access to the beach!

After talking with the owner on the phone, I was instantly sold on buying my kayak from them. Seemed intent on getting people the correct boat for their needs, not just trying to flip kayaks, They graciously set aside multiple kayaks for me to test, and then when I arrived, the owner helped me secure it to me roof, taught me how to properly secure it for the future and was extremely friendly. Would highly recommend this shop to anyone in New England.

I had a very good time here. I used to go to Paddleworks but they closed so I was glad we had an alternative to get out on the water on stand-up paddle boards. I had a chance to meet the owners after we got back and we had a nice conversation. The only question I had for him was do they ever run out of boards? He said, very seldom. The parking starts to be a problem before they run out of boards. As an extra surprise we discovered they have an outside shower and two changing rooms. Nice.

Purchased kayak from Indian River, the price was very good, as was the staff, Sara imparticular was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with testing different kayaks and all aspects of the purchase.

I had been told they had closed due to the pandemic. Obviously they had not. They were responsive and helpful, even willing to answer questions and give advice after my purchase.

My mother and I had an AWESOME time here! We are both super inexperienced with kayaking, but the staff here gave us a little lesson and sent us on our way. It was so much fun and a memory to last a lifetime. We would definitely recommend it!!

Great experience and nice people

Despite living further south on the Connecticut shoreline, I willingly drive nearly an hour out of my way during the summer to kayak through this marina. Chris is a fantastic owner; affable, respectable, and warm. He remembers his customers by name, and is highly considerate. The rates offered are outstanding for the shoreline, and the river allows for both experienced and novice kayakers and paddle boarders to either brave Long Island Sound or enjoy the peaceful river alone.The special events offered such as sunset paddle in full moon paddle are well organized, comprehensive, and just plain fun. This is the first place I tried kayaking, and thanks to the staff and the location, I’ve been hooked for a few years now.

Indian River is not only a spectacular location for water sports, but the owners are the most wonderful people. They were so helpful in getting me the best kayak for my budget and skill level, teaching me how to load and strap it to my car, and overall just so friendly and genuine. You feel like a neighbor or friend, not a customer. I will always shop and recommend IRMK.

Staff was excellent. So polite and helpful. Great for a first time kayaker on the ocean. You are near a marina so there is some boat traffic but they were respectful of the speed and people kayaking. Small beach to stop at that is private and accessible to kayaks.

We have 4 children and just moved to Westbrook from out of state. Indian River is the place to go for all of your needs. Sarah is a gem! She helped us pick out just the right kayaks, paddleboards, life jackets and paddles. She gives her undivided attention to each customer. Chris, the owner, is also terrific and knowledgable. Absolutely awesome. You will be in the water within minutes of arrival. The gear is clean and well maintained. The facilities are clean and include changing rooms and a large bathroom. Perfect for families. Chris and his crew are fantastic. We will be back again!

Chris and his team were so welcoming and knowledgeable. They provided a wonderful time for 35 high school students, many of whom had no previous kayaking experience. I would highly recommend this business to other schools and organizations trying to get out there and enjoy!

Really wonderful experience. Matt and Sarah were so friendly the minute we got there. Excellent customer service as well as making sure we understood the map and areas we could go to. It was a very relaxing and calm environment and the prices were very fair! No pressure or rushing us at all. The location is beautiful and cedar island was so fun to spend some time on. We left there thinking, “wow I’ve never met friendlier people!” We will be going back multiple times this summer, this place is a gem. I highly, highly recommend this place!

My family and I rented a tandem kayak, single kayak and paddle board from Indian River Marina today and had a wonderful time! The scenery is beautiful and the staff were so helpful and friendly. I would definitely go again! The prices were extremely reasonable compared to other places I’ve gone before. I would highly recommend them!

We store our kayaks at Indian river marina so its easy to drive down from Torrington and enjoy a beautiful day of kayaking. Chris and staff are attentive to needs of their guests. Great parking, clean rest room and changing areas. Indian River Marina is the perfect launch into the river, Clinton harbor and beyond. 😎 👍

Great spot for Kayak or SUP rental. Its right off a water way which you can paddle around or head out the marina and over to Clinton Public beach. Friendly staff and reasonable prices made for a great day on the water.

Been slipping my small center console here for a few years, Chris and his family are nothing but pleasant and helpful. Would recommend it for a day kayaking or as a season long slip if you can swing it with the restricted draft.

Clean boats, efficient operation, with very nice and helpful staff. Very pleasant rivers and estuaries. Lots of birds - a couple of kinds of diving terns, egrets and white herons, dowitchers, oystercatchers, and, of course, plenty of gulls, ducks, and Canada geese.

I went with 2 friends. We had a great time. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have a nice selection of boats, and the price was very reasonable. We paddled to cedar island before heading over to Hammonassett then back to the marina. This is a great area for novice and experienced kayakers alike. I would go again.
