Very nice store, came to buy a tenor went out with a very nice selmer alto. Staff was very nice and good prices.
Music stores in the area might as well be used car lots. This is the only place I will go if I need a used guitar or want to trade something in.Avoid the ripoff artists and sleazy salesman. This place is like an honest mechanic.A rarity.
Went to get an old electric guitar cleaned up and restrung. Told me it might be a few days which was fine but they called same day and said it was ready. Very impressed with their excellent customer service, amazing selection and all around great attitude at Music Go Round. Big thank you to Gary and all the staff!!
Excellent service. I ordered an expensive Gibson ES-195 so I was a bit nervous not having played it. They assured me it was in mint condition. The guitar arrived as described. Perfect condition and very well packed. They answered all my questions prior to my order, and went the extra mile to make sure my guitar was secure. Thanks!
Awesome customer service! I sold a kid’s drum set and they were so helpful and generous. Will be back to purchase some instruments in the future.
Chris was excellent ! It was a very relaxed snd fun experience, and my 3 year old loves her new drum set ! Thanks Chris !
Went there earlier this afternoon to purchase a 2000 watt Behringer Amplifier. I was very happy and pleased with the customer service. The Salesman named Nathan was outstanding and very helpful has well. I will return with my Bandmembers simply because of what I have experienced today. I look forward to a great relationship with this store, hopefully for many years to come...
Christos, Gary Manager, and Jim are the best in the business. I have been going to this store for years, back when I would deal with Ed, Steve, and a louder older lady (I forget her name). The store has always had a great selection and customer service was always top notch. I still stop by when I’m in the area to see if I can put myself further in debt. Love this store and the people who work there. Do yourself a favor and go there.
Friendly and knowledgeable, great inventory, I drive past 2 music stores to go to Musuc Gi Round.
Have to update review due to many repeat visits. Great music store. Staff are the coolest bunch of guys as well as being friendly and helpful without being intrusive or pushy. I have bought four guitars, two amps and many pedals. Awesome selection of used equipment and good prices. The awesome staff and cool gear make me feel at home. Will be my pleasure to spend money like a drunken sailor at this fine establishment.
Great store! Friendly staff, cool guitar selection. I also buy my kids school instruments there.
My new goto guitar store have made several purchases. Always helpful and a nice selection. Its been a month later now and I had to update this review I have bought multiple pieces of gear from this store. Today I needed a pedal to take on my first gig in almost a year. They not only suggested an alternate but helped me locate and purchase all within 24 hours. These guys are all extremely knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Again thanks guys your the best. Boarding the plane now can you guys make sure southwest gets my gear to the same place Im going. Thanks again
A small but mighty store. A really good musical instrument shop, staffed with friendly & knowledgeable working players.
Great place!! They are very knowledgeable and friendly.
This place REALLY doesn’t want my business. It’s a shame. I’ve been a customer forever (remember when they were in the smaller end unit?).Customer service is rough. Gary (manager) can’t even be bother with pleasantries like “thanks” in email.Sorry for asking a few questions. I apologize for showing sincere, repeated interest in an amp. It won’t happen again, Gary.I never would’ve had this experience with Chris.Edit: Chris doesn’t want my business either.
I buy gifts here for the music lover in my family.I came here by word of mouth and am so glad I did. The staff is so helpful.
I was shopping for a used Seagull S6 for a kick around acoustic guitar, and saw one posted on Music Go Round. I inquired about its condition and history, and Nathan told me it looked perfect, was bought and returned unused by a customer. It arrived in perfect condition, properly boxed and wrapped, protective paper still on the strings. I didnt like the strings it came with,I think they might have been Extra Lights, so I put on Daddario EJ16 Light strings, tweaked the truss rod a few half turns and sanded the saddle to lower the action. It plays like a dream now, been playing it daily since it arrived, sounds tremendous and lots of volume. I bought it to drag around in the car and take to Michigan to play around the campfire, but its in such good condition Im almost afraid to!Thanks, Nathan, on providing excellent service and prompt responses to my inquiries.
Great shop, friendly and helpful staff. Good prices.
Great place. Bought and sold equipment for years here.
The staff is knowledgeable and the store is always chock-full of great gear. It’s the absolute first place I go to, when I’m ready to buy. Weve been customers for years. We have also taken ukulele and guitar lessons there (on-site and virtually), and have been 100% satisfied with their instructors. So glad they’re in the neighborhood!
Great place for music equipment. Great staff and great prices. The staff has alot of knowledge on the equipment they sell.
Large variety of instruments, gear, and pedals. Employees always very friendly, helpful and engaged without being in your face while youre browsing. The pedals are my faves and stock rotates fairly often. Highly recommend.
These guys are great. Sold me a mint discontinued boutique amp 3 days before xmas. Bubble wrapped it like crazy and somehow got it here by xmas eve 3 days later with no extra charge. Amp is MINT just as described. Email communication is excellent. These guys are pro all the way. I will def buy from them again if the gear I want is in their store. They have earned my trust as a no bs dealer. Thanks guys! Merry Xmas
This particular Music Go Round has an incredible staff that is very honest, always agreeable, and will do whatever they can to make sure you get the gear of your dreams. Seriously, the best part of living in Cockeysville was this shop and the guys that run it. I never once felt low balled, unappreciated, or unheard.Everybody I know loves this shop, it truly is a hidden treasure here in Maryland. For the negative reviews, please take a moment to reflect on yourself as a customer and wonder why you had a bad experience. Was it because you didn’t receive the amount you would have if you sold privately? Maybe try putting in some effort and selling privately! Was it because you became irate when told they couldn’t give you a discount just for asking for it? This place pays their employees and treats them well, if that means I have to spend 20 extra dollars on a pedal so that the incredible staff can afford to stay there, I am so willing to pay that extra money. If you want big box prices, go to a big box store, THERE you will learn what a terrible customer experience is like. I can say this as an employee of a big box store which has no real passion for people or music.Chris, Gary, Ed, and everyone else who’s names I can’t remember.. we think you guys are killing it out there and want to say thank you for making our time in Cockeysville a much more enjoyable experience.
Wonderful staff, great selection and prices; top 5 music store in the region.
Awesome service, really friendly staff, prices are unbeatable.
I just bought a new violin here today and we are definitely coming back if we need anything. When you walk in, you are greeted with a smile and asked what you need immediately. They act very fast to get you exactly what you need and asks if you want to test it out, which no other store has done for us. The deal is very fast so it’s perfect if you need your instrument fast and conveniently. Also last thing, their program is amazing they give your money back within 30 days, a 60 day warranty and if you decide you want to quit your instrument within a year they will do up too a 50% buy back.
We had great communication with the store. Product shipped quickly and was as advertised. Thank you!
I purchased an effects pedal online. It arrived quickly, but wasnt fully functional. It may or may not be repairable, but I wanted to give it a try. I spoke with Gary at Music Go Round Cockeysville and we worked out a partial refund so that I could try my hand at fixing while not being out the full price of the pedal. I have been a MGR customer locally and online for 15 years and I have found they consistently work with the customer to insure everyone ends up satisfied with their purchase. I wish all retailers were as reasonable, fair and accommodating. Thank you Gary!
Great selection of odd& common instruments and friendly staff
This store is the only thing I miss about living in Cockeysville. Great selection, always something new or quirky to check out, friendly and helpful staff, fair prices if youre buying or selling, and they really understand if youre shopping around to find the perfect effect pedal for your setup. Best music store in Maryland!Would have given 6 stars but 1) there are only 5 stars and 2) theyre far from Frederick.
Great store with a helpful, responsive staff. Would recommend to anyone!
I recently found a used acoustic resonator guitar on the Music Go Round website inventory. I contacted Gary to make sure it had not sold and he said he would hold it for me. In the hour it took me to drive there he had cleaned, restrung and tuned the guitar. After I checked it out Gary suggested we compare it to the other resonators he had for sale. We ended up playing 6 other guitars but both agreed the one I came to see had the best tone. Oh, and I should note that the guitar I bought was much less expensive than the others we played. I highly recommend Music Go Round, and if you have questions about an instrument listed on their webpage inventory Gary will be great about answering questions or finding the right one for you.
Nice people, nice place!
Nice shop, helpful staff. Good selection of different stuff.
The guys that work here are super helpful and knowledgeable. Since my daughter has gotten interested in music, we have been there several times looking for instruments and getting advice. I highly recommend this place for newbie music folks!
Great store, have shopped here for several years now. Staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and non-judgmental of ones playing skills. Some pretty crazy things come in stock, too, and theyre sold at reasonable prices. Trade in values are fair. Only complaint is that I wish their website updated inventory more often; inside the store tends to have more products you wouldnt see online.
The owner at this location went out of his way to work with me. I came to him with a situation that was an anomaly faced by working with another Store. He took the time to try his hardest to work with me and I would return to this location in a heartbeat. It is difficult to find someone willing to take the time to understand a situation and it was done here without hesitation.
So nice and professional. My son needed a strap lock for his guitar. They installed it for him and explained the entire process. They are always very nice and professional. Highly recommended this place.
Yikes! Haven’t even been inside the store, and already I can tell how this place is...emailed this particular store due to the fact that they had a used Parker Fly P42 for 299.99. So far a good deal... until I noticed the chipping on the bottom. But no worries... just body damage. I mentioned to Gary that I saw a P42 on GC for 249.99. Only reason I did not go for that one was because it was a left handed model. :/ I play right handed. So I asked Gary if we can cut a deal for 249.99; especially with the body damage. His email sounded very rude and snotty to me. And I quote “This guitar gets a lot of attention on my sales floor. I am happy with the $299 asking price.”Ok I said.. so I asked could you cut a deal with the shipping? (Shipping was 55 dollars). Haven’t heard a word.Never heard of this music store until I caught a glimpse of that Parker. By the sounds of it, and by the look of some reviews, I’d say this place is pretty stern and overpriced for used gear. Guess I’m glad that I know now. Won’t be doing business in the future.Update: changed it to one star. Very rude staff. Their used prices are way too high!!
This is the best used musical instrument store in Maryland. They do sell new stuff, but I come for the used gear.Great stock, reasonable prices, and professional, helpful staff that are interested in you, the customer, having a good experience. They are not pushy, they are knowledgeable and experienced and can help people of any level make good, informed decisions about gear.
My 9 yr old daughter takes ukulele lessons from Ben at Music Go Round and she loves it!! Great place for new and used instruments. Huge variety! Super nice, informative employees. Highly recommend!!
I love this store. The staff is top shelf and they have great prices. Every time I have sold them gear they give me very fair prices
Ive ordered a couple of things from these guys online, and both experiences were awesome! They got my orders to me quickly and packed them well. Its a very convenient way to get great gear at crazy good prices. I will definitely shop them again!
Ive bought and traded-in more music equipment than I can remember, and Ive always been treated like the only customer in the store. Excellent staff. Knowledgeable and friendly, fair prices - a hidden gem or a must-have every visit. New store is beautiful and well laid out, even more gems! Great job guys.
Bought a speaker from them on Reverb at a great price, speaker got damaged in shipping by UPS, I had a refund a day later. Ethical folks, great customer service, would definitely buy from again. Thanks!
I love this store. I try to check it out every time Im in the area. They sell a lot of used gear, so you never know what they may have in stock. So far from them Ive bought an amazing Telecaster copy, a boost pedal, and a 15 speaker cabinet, all of which see frequent use. The staff has always been friendly and helpful too.
Chris, Gary, Bonnie and Jim are kind, straightforward people. Im a regular customer and will continue to be one. Over the years theyve got me some really great deals. Also have had cheap/free repairs at times. Lets face it- theyre a business and they have to make money. Respect that fact and theyll work with you. This isnt really the place to find top end boutique gear. They stay afloat by processing a decent volume of work horse beginner/intermediate gear. The wall stays pretty fresh though so stop by to see whats there.
Music Go Round had a used Schecter electric guitar case for sale online and since there are many in different sizes, I called and spoke with Chris. Chris took the time to take measurements and eye the case inside. I payed for the case and had it shipped to California after Chris and I were pretty sure this was the right case as this Case is hard to come by. Case arrived in perfect condition and it is the exact fit for my Schecter 006 Elite electric guitar. Awesome service!!! Thank you Chris and thanks to Jim as well! Highest recommendation for your music gear!!! You guys ROCK!
TL;DR - Guitar Center will pay 60% of what they sell it for and this place will give you 50%.I just went in with a Fender Jazz Bass Natural to see what theyd offer. I already knew what Guitar Center would do so I wanted to see if they would beat it. Dude behind the counter low-balled me big time and then accused me of getting angry when I mentioned how much lower his offer was. Then he starts telling me about how business works. Unprofessional and pretentious.------I see you responded to my review.I would like to ask you something. If I had walked in, put the bass on the counter and said Im looking for $400 for it (which is what I told Guitar Center btw) would you have given me more than 50%? Would it have changed anything? Even when I did give you a couple numbers you shot em all down instantly. You low balled me to an insulting degree. The first number you said was $175. Maybe that was a mistake because in the next sentence you said $200.Look you made a low ball offer (even trying to be competitive?) and then talked down to me when I expressed my displeasure. I dont know what industry standard youre talking about but it felt like dealing with a sketchy pawn shop.Im sure you guys will keep doing good business without me. Have a good one.PS: When you asked what I wanted for it I said I wanted to trade (more than once) because that is what Id rather do. If that is coy to you then so be it. I put it up on Craigslist that same night saying Im interested in trading.
I found the tambourine Ive been searching for.
Great experience! Brought in a vintage guitar (63 Harmony) they were able to assess and fix the problem right away. Great service, very friendly and knowledgeable. They are my go-to music store from here on out!
Great service
Great store! Great selection of used instruments and other music accessories. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Will go back again!
I wanted to let the public know what a great music store in the Baltimore County area they have. The staff is wonderful, and knowledgeable of instruments, and swell guys.I have bought and sold instruments. I have purchased music books, strings, and a case. The repair section is great, from guitars to orchestra instruments. If they fix it, they know someone who can. Thanks again to Chris, Ed, Gary, and the rest of the staff.
Honest deals. Decent equipment. Knowledgeable staff. That’s why I keep going back.
Music Go Round has been an excellent business over the years for across-the-USA music gear purchases for me. I recently bought a pristine condition, used guitar pedal from them at an amazing price. Ive also purchased used guitars from them in the past. Top notch, thanks!
Customer friendly people ready to help you with anything you need. they know their stuff. their website is accurate in description and are first choice when it comes to looking for a used or new instrument. do stop in and jam out.
Great deals and good selection on used equipment. Have new stuff now as well. Great service.
Im patriotic towards MGR quality merchandise and awesome price reductions
Im fair sure Ill never do business with Music Go Round again. I walked in with two very well made 3/4 violins. One German made, the other by Scott Cao. They made an offer that was extremely low. They also tag teamed me. It was reminiscent of the technique used by the auto salespeople that you dont like to deal with. Too reminiscent. I have a few more very nice instruments that are not being used anymore. I will donate them or eBay them before I go back to Music Go Round.
This is a must go to shop if you are a musician. I have purchased a Tascam digital recorder for myself and an electronic drum set for my father from this company. Prices are more than fair, trade in offers are fantastic, and the staff is excellent and knowledgeable. To Chris, Dan, and the rest of the gang, I look forward to future business with you! Always a pleasure.
Nicest people to work with. Very attentive. Keep it a small shop. I love it that way!
They ruined my acoustic guitar, and made me pay for it.I went there about a year ago, said I had some fret-buzz on my acoustic. The guy behind the counter told me that for around 65$ they would fix it for me. It took a week for them to fix it. They lowered the action until the strings literally touch the frets, so now all the frets buzz and no real sound comes out. They made me pay for it. When I brought it back a week or two later (the only time I could find to go) they told me that they wouldnt do anything for me, didnt even offer to refund me the money. Before I went I had a decent guitar that had some issues. Now I have pretty-looking firewood.Dont ever go to these hacks!
This store is fantastic! Super customer service and a variety of music equipment and instruments that are unmatched by many larger music stores. Personalized service by most notably Jim and Chris. Great guys.
I love this music store! The staff and owner are extremely friendly, knowledgable and helpful. The prices are very reasonable and there is always a unique find when I visit.
Great selection. Nice store. But they didn’t budge on price on used gear. For that only 4 stars
Great place with really good people who know their stuff. Highly recommend this place if you need any music gear. I have both bought things and sold things back to these guys...always felt like I was given a fair deal.
Great staff. Everyone has used music equipment in their house that they no longer play. Now is the time to bring it in and either trade up or use the cash to pay on your new UHD 4K TV in time for Football!!! Let’s increase their inventory and give the next generation a chance to learn how to play music on affordable equipment now!!!
Spent about 200 dollars online for an item on Reverb and they failed to deliver or communicate. If they screwed up, they had ample time to say so, they didnt. They said refunded the item (if I hadnt looked at my reverb account I wouldnt even have known). I have not seen a refund. This store reeks of dishonesty. I would not do business with again.I have a recording event over the new years and I gave up other opportunities to buy gear I needed for this one. They were essentially not honoring the contract they accepted payment for. Shady people. The item did not sell out, it was priced 250.00 below typical list, and realizing their mistake, decided to do the dishonorable thing.
Love this place. They know your name and always provide!
This should be the first place to go if youre looking for an instrument. They have many used guitars and other items in great condition. Theyll even buy back items youve bought from them and give you $ or store credit.
Close to new prices on used gear. Instrument selection was fair but nothing noteworthy at my time of visit. (they do have a good guitar pedal selection). Employees talk amongst themselves but dont acknowledge customers until they are ready to pay. Second time in, same experience. For me, not worth the drive.
What a great place! I was able to buy what I needed at a very reasonable price with knowledgeable and friendly staff.
I really like Music Go Round. They have a nice, courteous staff with a good selection, decent prices and I have always been given a fair value on items I have traded in. I hope the store has continued success!
I really wanted to like this place as the concept of a used gear-only shop for instruments is great. However my experience with most of the staff felt like I was at a used car dealership. I traded in some gear that in hindsight I should not have as I now know that guitar center in Towson is much better in regards to offer and the discount if you trade up at time of trade in. I called in to music go round in cockeysville recently to get an estimate and the gentleman gave me a reasonable estimate after I described the guitar to him in detail - excellent, brand new condition, Fender Special Release Stratocaster with professional setup recently completed. However when I arrived at the store the story was different. Another gentleman offered me a much lower offer and he was not very friendly about it, he was very short with me. I made the trip in based on the estimate I was given over the phone so the experience was disappointing to me as the guitar was in mint condition as I described over the phone to the other person. He moved a little on the offer but not much and then took advantage after the offer by blindly saying my case was included in the offer he was giving me when I never offered the case, I only planned to transport the guitar in the case. I completely felt like I was dealing with a salesperson at a car dealership and who was using tactics to take advantage of me. I ended up accepting the offer as I already made the trip but I regret it very much. Enough said, I really wish that I could rate this store higher but I just cannot. I rate it two stars as I did deal once with one gentleman there who was fair and accommodating, I wish I knew his name as he is worth mentioning in a positive aspect. I hope this review helps the store to understand a sellers perspective and is able make improvements for the customer experience.
Incredible customer service! I had an incredible experience working with Gary and Music Go Round and I would absolute buy shop again!
Purchased online but it went real well. They were flexible on price and followed up after the purchase. Not many music go rounds budge off list price and this sealed the deal.
I ordered an effect pedal to be shipped to Canada. Music Go Round was very courteous and the shipping was fast. I will definitely consider Music Go Round for future online purchases. Thanks Music Go Round!
Im quite the beginner when it comes to guitars. This is not my first time being in this guitar shop. My wifes family bought a beautiful white Schecter Tele from here for my father in laws 70th birthday last year to match a black one that hes had for ages. This year they bought (albeit not from here) me my first real guitar (Schecter Synyster Gates acoustic-electric) for my 30th birthday. I wanted a little practice amp for it, so I went in on Tuesday and they had just what I was looking for. Got it home, plugged it in, flipped the switch, the amp was very clearly working but my guitar was not outputting anything to it. So took the guitar in on Thursday morning and the same guy who had sold the amp to me was there. Im blanking on his name, mightve been Chris, however he was so helpful. He tinkered with the guitar for about 5 minutes and discovered that it was simply a loose plug leading to the tuner. Plugged it in and made sure everything was outputting right and had me on my way. I will only be shopping here for anything my guitar will ever need.
Good service
Outstanding staff and store is filled with all brands of gear. I drove 2 hours to pickup my new (used) Marshall head and am glad I did.
This is a great place to go to get cash for old gear, or to find used equipment at competitive prices. You never know what youll find at this place. Ive never left unsatisfied.
The staff is friendly and they have great pricing on a large selection of gear.
Ordered a used Gibson Les Paul case. It was just what I was looking for at a great price. It was shipped fast, and I received it before its estimated arrival date. Thanks MGR Cockeysville. It was a pleasure doing business with you, and I look forward to doing business with you again.
Great to deal with..as always!...I grabbed a hard to find,early 70s,Premier 24 bass drum from Paul....cleaned up great!Thanks!
Have always been fair with their pricing, buying, and advice. Plus, even though they are a chain, they have a local feel and comfort [no egos!] which is rare compared to a particular big name music store.
I got my item fast and as described. I wish the shipping costs were a little more clear on the website and a bit lower but otherwise im pretty happy.
Ive been shopping here as long as Ive been playing music (about nine years). Always a great selection and a knowledgable staff who can do anything from repairs to solid recommendations on gear.
When our grandson needs to upgrade his musical equipment we always start at the Music Go Round. The staff is knowledgeable the equipment is just what we need and the prices are great.
Friendly knowledgable staff. Didnt get as much as I wanted for my amp but a fair price. Wanted to trade in amp for a guitar at another store and they made that happen. Very happy with my experience. Beautiful guitar. Play it every day. The musicman amp I sold had to be cranked loud to get great sound and I wasnt using it anymore because I only play at home. Would buy from them again.
Music Go Round should be your first and only stop. They know their stuff, and go out of their way to help you get what you need.
These guys like instruments more then they do making a profit. They are good to me and I will not go anywhere else for my vintage guitar purchases.
Ive been dealing with this Music Go Round for quite some time. Everyone there is very accommodating and nice. It is a pleasure to do business wth them!
Everyone at Music Go Round is very knowledgeable about the music gear they are selling. Very cool environment, and you never know what youll find.I have found so many great deals.
Very friendly staff at this location. Welcomed me as soon as I came in and let me try out the Egnater Renegade I was looking to buy. Traded in a few pieces of gear to go towards my purchase and got a fair price for them. My Egnater works perfect and sounds great. Had a very pleasant experience at this store.
Such a cool place. Friendly staff nice selection.
Very straightforward and no judgement, so dont be afraid to ask questions.
You want professional advice, good quality equipment, and a great place to shop musical merchandise? I suggest you give this store a call and ask for Jim
