I’ve been trying to sell an old Canon system for years when I discovered this gem in Colorado Springs. Alan the manager spent over an hour carefully appraising each piece. I came into this shop within CWs final hour of their days business. I wished to place on consignment a 6x4.5cm and a 35mm camera body, 7 lenses, and related accessories carried in with me. Because of my traveling 35 minutes, and not wishing to return the next day, the two seasoned gear experts devoted their undivided attention to assessing the equipment to be consigneds functionality, useability, and presenting condition.Alan proposed buying it all outright -- as adjusted from his shops reasonable used equipment pricing given 30 to 40 year old useable gear -- and factoring in its condition regarding any needed professional repair adjustments called for. This savvy saved me time, and my times use invoving my own daily encumberments. We had a meeting of minds on the assessments this CW staff presented, and a Cameraworks purchase proposal (instead of consignment) criteria, and came to an agreed upon Cameraworks settlement by the time the shop was to close. They worked intensely and steadily to make this happen by closing time. They conversationally discussed relevant details regarding each item, and any called for related considerations which would influence CW standing by these items with their extended guarantee to future CW standards reconciled photo equipment purchasers. Clarifications were given about improving each presented items status, to reach their quality standards, if needed.I learned about them, their standards, their know how, and the good intentions influencing their purchase proposal. Good job, gentlemen!

In a world where 5 stars seems to be the norm, its hard to really show how nice of an experience this really is. This is honestly one of my favorite places to go to ever, not just as a camera store. Everyone here is friendly and really knowledgeable! Prices on film are reasonable and film processing and scanning prices are a bargain, both for 120 and 35mm (really good quality scans too!!). They sell everything needed to start developing film. Great camera collection and film selection too. If you any photographic needs theyve pretty much got it covered.

This is a great little shop. The selection for film photography equipment, film, and accessories was good and the condition of the items looked great. C-41 processing was very reasonably priced and turnaround time was fantastic! The reason for 4 star is because I noticed the first frame on all 4 rolls of 120 film I got back from development have what appears to be light leak or accidental exposure during processing and there are spots that look scratched on the negative. I process my own black and white film and hence I know my camera does not do this by default.Otherwise, still a fantastic little shop!

Was hoping I could trust the recommendations of a small shop like this... Went in for a couple of things and ended up just buying an IR remote. I asked for a remote that was compatible with a Nikon D610 and I was happy with the service while I was there. Once I got home and opened the box though, I realized the remote was not compatible with any of my cameras- definitely not compatible with the D610. Now Im stuck with a remote that I cant use, cant get a refund for, and would spend more in gas to exchange than its worth. I admit that I should have done my due diligence and checked compatibility before I purchased the remote- my mistake. Just frustrated that I gave a small shop my business and trust, only to have the wrong product purchased.Update: Hi Alan,I believe it was you I spoke with when I called on Monday, as I did call first. The name would be Danielle. I dont believe the young man took down my last name, but it would be Cline. The transaction took place around 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 19th. I spoke with a young man and a young woman about an on-camera flash for a D610 and a remote for the same. I did not purchase the flash as the one they were recommending was not in stock. The remote I purchased (the only remote that was handed to me) was the Phottix 6-in-1 IR remote, which is not compatible with any of the Nikon D600s. Hopefully this information is helpful.

Wanted to purchase a camera for work. Due to Covid and being a small business I wanted to support another local small business. Needless to say the camera I purchased does not do what I was told it did and no refunds so I’m out the money basically. There was no mention of this at the time of purchase. Tried to do a good thing and now I’m stuck with a very expensive camera that I basically won’t ever use. Buyers be aware that purchases are all final. Next time I’ll go to a big box store.

My sister, my 2 nephews and I were driving from Michigan to Estes Park, flying considered risky as I am immune compromised. During the packing of the Subaru, my photo equipment was taking a lot of space and I gave up my tripod, opting to roll with just my monopod and cotton carrier. Somewhere in Nebraska I suddenly realized that my quick release plate was with my tripod and my camera was kitted out with the cotton carrier attachment. The idea of trying to take wildlife photos with a super zoom without a monopod was stomach churning. After 2 calls to camera shops in Boulder, with no one willing to ship a plate (or even a complete monopod head) to Estes Park, I called Cameraworks in Colorado Springs. I needed a Manfrotto quick release, they had it, they were willing to ship it, and John dropped it off for shipping that afternoon. Vacation saved! (I would have been VERY grouchy!!). I really appreciate the time and effort extended to someone just passing through - I assume that this experience means that Cameraworks customer service is top notch. I will be repaying the favor when I replace my aluminum manfrotto tripod with a carbon one later this year.Thank you again, John and Cameraworks!!

I would definitely recommend that you check this place out! Feels and looks like a family run type of business. If you have a Nikon or Canon camera, and want cheaper lenses, this is your place! I was skeptical at first, but after visiting, it is ever so apparent that they execute intrapersonal, professional business! This store has modern equipment; however, their cameras and lenses are more aged (10-100 y/o not a factor in quality at all), also, while less, there are some newer products. Another major note is in the variety of lighting accessories like flash umbrellas.

I highly recommend this camera shop. This may look like a small photography shop, but they have a steady stream of good used equipment and of course all the new equipment. I have bought new equipment at surprisingly competitive prices. I have learned that I can trust them to sell me top quality, pristine glass, used lenses. I now own several lenses that normally, I could not afford at new prices. These are lenses that I have wanted for a long time.Three years ago I retired my old, heavily used, film equipment and bought new digital gear. Being used to shooting in manual without all the bells and whistles that are on the new digital cameras, learning the new equipment as been quite the challenge. The sales staff have always been very informative, patient with my many questions and never pushy. I love my up-graded gear and use every piece on a regular basis.I started in photography with a 35mm SLR, when I was 13 yrs. old, I am now 50 yrs. old. So, over the years I have been in many camera stores in different states. This is the camera store I have liked and trusted the most. Their business practices are very fair with top notch customer service. I wish in general more stores would run this way. I have a 50 mile drive to get to the store, but I find that it is worth my time. This shop has gone above and beyond helping me become a better photographer.

My new favorite camera store. Im glad I found this place!Update.. from 4 stars to 1 star real quick. Shady business practices have ruined me from ever going there again. Took a lens in for repair work, they called and said they couldnt repair it but would sell me a new lens at a discount. When I arrived to pick up my old lens, the didnt have it. They cannibalised it to fix another lens that they then wanted to sell me. In essence, sell my own property back to me. When I demanded my original lens back, they hastily cobbled it back together out of spare defective parts. SHADY!!!Update 2. Look, I understand why you are lying. You look bad in my review but thats because what you did was bad. I never raised my voice. I never bullied anyone. When you called me to tell me my lens was unserviceable you offered to sell me a lens for $170.00, then if you kept my old lens, you would give me a $15.00 credit. I never agreed to that. I said I would be in as soon as I could. When I came in, I wanted to buy from you the lens for $170.00 and keep my lens. To me, even though the autofocus didnt work well, it was still a good manual focus lens. When I arrived, I find out that you dismantled my lens to cobble together a single good lens out of two faulty ones. The part that really bothered me, was that you tried to sell me back my own equipment. If you didnt have a lens to sell without using the one I had in for repair, you should have said so. If you would have just told me that you could sell me a good lens by salvaging parts from my lens, I probably would have agreed. The fact that you did it secretly says a lot about the way you run your business.
