Food was great. I ordered the pork tacos and they were fabulous and very reasonable. We all enjoyed our food. It worked for our whole party with vegan and keto diets. They had a great drink menu but very slim wine list and no ciders. The location was odd and out of the way but they did a good job with the inside for a fun vibe. All in all a great option that I will return for.
The staff was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. It felt like we were chatting with friends. They provided attentive service, and the food and drink quality was immaculate. Post pandemic dining can be so tough and Urban Steam made everything feel easy and relaxed. Highly recommend!!!
We tried Urban Steam for a dinner meal while on vacation. I was excited for the vegan/veggie friendly options and ordered the vegan entree and my partner ordered a burger. The display of the my entree was beautiful and looked fresh. The sundried tomato pesto on the bottom of the dish tasted very strange but I chalked it up to not being familiar with this. About 6 hours later I had a very serious case of food poisoning and could only contribute it to this restaurant. This restaurant was a major disappointment and tainted our vacation, I would not recommend it to anyone...
Horrible customer service. Was seated in the back of the restaurant, other customers came in after us were served first and we got a table that wasn’t even cleaned! And the hostess knew the table wasn’t cleaned because she told us she needed a minute to get our table set up. Extremely disappointed, husband and I walked out because we got no service. Will never recommend this place or ever come back.RESPONSE TO OWNER:I may not own a business but I am also a mother and a manager. You failed to communicate that you were seating us next to a window. As the table next to us was a window table but it was also unclean and still had dishes from the previous party. And I find it hard to ask for anything when you are not getting service. If you really believe that you did all you could to provide excellent service, I suggest you do better. Cause my husband was also displeased with the service you gave us. I’m sorry you cannot handle my truth ma’m. And I hope you have a good day.
Stopped here from Pittsburgh to have breakfast on my birthday! And I will say we were not disappointed. I had a blue cornmeal waffle with fried chicken and 2 fried eggs.. it came with a burbon maple syrup that was amazing! My boyfriend got the plain waffle with bacon. Everything was delicious. Definitely stop by if youre in the area. They have a parking lot with a few spaces in the front and off to the side of the building. There were no parking signs on the street in front of the building but it looked like a lot of people were still parked there. Prices were pretty decent too.
Food was good- better than average. Super disappointed in the service. We had reservations and were asked to sit at the bar. Trying to make eye contact with a server/anyone approx 15 sitting at the bar and male sever came behind the bar and ignored us. I asked him if he could take our order or find someone that could, he stated “yea I guess I can, we are just really busy” I’m a very annoyed attitude. Food came out slower than average as well. Not sure if we will be back.
Definitely will go back. The location is quaint, and I bet really nice early in the morning or later in the afternoon. During the lunch rush, its a bit loud, but understandable considering the size of the restaurant. They have quite the selection of drinks (not so many that youre lost, but a good amount), and of the ones we had, they are pretty good. The menu is just the right size. We only had issues choosing what to eat because everything sounded good. I ended up having the South by Southwest and a side of Fried Chicken. Seriously, if you leave here hungry, youre doing it wrong. Their portions are larger, and my side of chicken was really unnecessary, but very good. My only complaint would be that my poached eggs were a little under-done and my English muffin was soggy, however, Im not sure how theyd keep it dry with green chili smothered over it.
Fun atmosphere and amazing food! Sliders and sweet potato fries were the best Ive ever had. Also enjoyed the live music! The waiter was great and helpful even though he was short staffed.
We have really enjoyed Urban Steam on prior visits to Colorado Springs…always a bit of a wait, but worth it. On a recent visit to Colorado to celebrate my wife’s birthday, we decided that our daughter and her family, and our son and his family (who flew in from out of state); that the 11 of us (6 adults, 5 children) would have breakfast there and celebrate. I called and they don’t take reservations, but said to come in and put our name in, and probably wait thirty to forty minutes to be seated. When we arrived, my wife and daughter in law went in to get our name down. They encountered the manager, which they soon found, had the people skills of a rapid dog. He informed them that a group of 11 could not be seated; however, on the way in they had encountered a Mom and their adult group of 9 that had been seated. The abrasive and rude manager went on to state that they really couldn’t seat our group with that many children - my wife and daughter in law politely asked if we could break our party into two or three groups to accommodate the restaurant…they were immediately and rudely told NO. Yet similar parties of the same size were allowed to be seated. After figuratively having the door slammed in our face, we left. I feel sorry for this otherwise great restaurant…we have enjoyed the food, the employees, the service. What we don’t enjoy is finding that the manager is not service, nor customer minded, he is insensitive, rude, and apparently has a discriminatory attitude towards children. If he had ever been a manager at Disneyland, it would not be the Magic Kingdom, but rather the Tragic Kingdom. For the sake of this restaurant, it’s employees, and customers, I hope somehow he would experience an Ebenezer Scrooge epiphany.
Went for breakfast and all four of us loved our meals. Their menu isnt large but they do everything well. The coffee is phenomenal and they do have cool cocktails. Make a reservation in advance.
Nice local bar and grill.Complete bar plus some nice choices for beers. The food was excellent.I am going back for sure and telling my friends.
The food here was different than anywhere Ive been before! Unique, delicious and filling! Definitely plan on returning to try the other items on the menu I highly recommend trying at least one item on their menu.
Great service and cute spot, my partner’s burrito was awesome but I was unhappy with my meal. The sweet potato mash was way too sweet with too much syrup puddled on the plate of vegetables and the kitchen couldn’t do anything to change my meal or my bill. At first they forgot my egg but they were to quick to fix that. Just upset that nothing was done to adjust the bill as I had no desire to finish my meal.
This place absolutely blew me away. The atmosphere is great, the service was amazing, our food came out much quicker than expected, and my Southern Comfort chicken & waffles were without a doubt the best meal I’ve had at a restaurant in years. It took me probably 5 or 6 bites to stop audibly saying “Oh my God” after each bite. Will definitely be coming back here anytime I’m in the area.
Update* Yes I went back. Another great experience. This is turning out to be my new favorite restaurant. Looking forward to trying more of the dishes. YummmmyIt was our first time going there. Service was great and the food was excellent. Arrived at 9am and didnt have any wait time getting a parking spot or a table so that was a bonus. It had just enough items on the menu that you didnt feel overwhelmed yet still so many choices. Will definitely be going back.
Some of the best carnitas I’ve ever had! The biscuits and Bloody Mary’s are amazing too. Best brunch in town.
I got the house waffle along with the granola (with berries + oat milk) and my roommate got the avocado smash! the atmosphere was fun, the servers were welcoming and the food came out quickly and looking amazing. My waffle was phenomenal and filling and I was happy to hear they had a milk alternative for my granola. 10/10 recommend if in the springs!
Just finished a meal here and the food and service are decent, however I am appalled by the fact that almost none of the staff were wearing masks or any sort of face covering. Out of 4 kitchen workers, only one was wearing one. Most of the servers only had them on to come to your table, but took them off as soon as they went to the public bar area. And the bartender kept his hanging off of his ear. My boyfriend complained to the hostess about this issue and she attempted to justify it with an irrelevant excuse about how the kitchen is “too warm”. This place is putting its customers at risk and I will not be returning. There’s no justification for violating a public health order.
We have been wanting to try Urban Steam for awhile, but we arent in this part of town often. We loved it ! What a welcoming, comfortable space. The latte and cappuccino were so good. We ordered the lemon blueberry french toast & it was amazing. If the parking lot is full, just park on the. Neighboring streets. We look forward to coming back to enjoy this one of a kind atmosphere and try more goodies that they are firing up in the kitchen & bar.
THE BEST SPOT IN COLORADO SPRINGS, hands down. Amazing food, amazing drinks and good music! Also amazing staff! Definitely get the pork belly street tacos! The menu is creative and fun. The drinks are strong but not overwhelming (absolutely delicious) the food is just absolutely amazing. The quality of the food is astounding. I cannot express how much I love this place! You will not be disappointed.
Love this place! The food is so good, and I like that they take reservations. My only complaints are about the parking (super small lot and mostly parallel parking) and the after the meal staff. Ive been twice now, and both times the dirty plates were not removed from the table. Maybe they are hoping people will leave a little faster (which I understand when its busy!), but its a little gross. The food and breakfast drinks are delicious. The Irish coffee was especially good with cold brew.
This place was great! I ordered the Habanero Bloody Hairy and The Confusor! Wow! My taste buds were lit up. Service was also great and the view from the patio outside was great. We made reservations online a head of time and everything went very smoothly. I don’t believe that there was a wait .... 1030am on Friday!
This is one of my favorite stops when Im in Colorado Springs and I returned with no complaints yet. A must try for a hearty breakfast and definitely a Mimosa. Our waitress was great. The food was perfect and the view is always a plus in Colorado Springs.
What a hidden gem! Definitely take the time to go before it gets discovered and impossible to get in for brunch. Breakfast burrito was great, espresso was fantastic, service was excellent!
I have been reviewing restaurants in Colorado Springs for almost 12 years and very seldom have I been absolutely blown away by how good of an experience I had. I went here for the first time tonight and now it’s hands down in my top 3 favorite bars. Amazing live music, burgers, and cocktails made to perfection. If you are passing through or staying in the Springs, you absolutely cannot miss this place. Would gladly give it 10 stars if I could.
I was honestly blown away by my experience here. The food was phenomenal, the staff is amazing, the ambience was top-notch. You can tell how much love & passion the owner has, how much time theyve dedicated to making the whole bistro an amazing experience. Everything from the paint color & art from local artists to the food-so-good-it-cant-be-described, are all clearly labors of love.Shout out to our wonderful waitress, Grace, who went above & beyond to help us and was so friendly and kind.I cant wait to come back again someday!
Love the atmosphere of this place! They have a great selection of eats. I usually come in for breakfast but today I tried lunch and it was delicious as usual!
Never spent much time in Colorado Springs, so we took a gamble on breakfast. It was the right choice. Im sure the baristas will recognize this review, and to them I want to apologize and give my congratulations on a job well done.My spouse and I took one glance at the drink menu and couldnt believe all the coffee option available. I was foaming at the mouth, when they joked about how I should get a flight of drinks to try them all.I dont take jokes like that lightly. So I did. 7 or so drinks, and all were amazing. The Americano was well balanced, the Cubano smooth. Cold brew was the right amount of bitter, while my Chai Latte was the perfect taste of sweet. Your house made Ginger Beer was excellent, as was the Root Beer ( I ended up mixing the root beer with my cold brew. Great combo). And I have not had as good of Turkish Coffee as this before anywhere. The breakfast items were great as well, and we plan on coming again next time were in town. Thanks again for putting up with my eccentric behavior and delivering an amazing beverage experience.
Great dining experience. It’s rare to find a place that caters to gluten and lactose allergies. The food was amazing, and I enjoyed their root beer! I highly recommend the gf/vegan waffle!!!
I love coming here for brunch. Staff is always super nice and accommodating. And the food is amazing.
We had an unusual experience on taco Tuesday. The taco Tuesday menu clearly stated that the tacos were $3.00 each. When we received our bill my husband paid the bill, including a tip, and the waitress processed the credit card statement. I thought the total seemed high and I looked at the bill. It stated that the tacos were $4.00 each. When the waitress brought the credit card back I pointed out the discrepancy. Her response was that yes, it should have been $3.00 per taco, but the computer charged $4.00 and there was nothing she could do about it because only a manager could change prices in the computer. She offered us no solution. She said she was very sorry but there was nothing she could do. So... she already had her tip and the bill was paid so...we left without making a scene, but we wont be returning.
I had been going to Urban Steam prior to the pandemic and just returned for breakfast last week. Wow. What a change. The place is a yuppy haven and the manager has an entitled attitude like hes on Rodeo Drive. You dont have a reservation? Well, I might be able to seat you at the bar in 30 minutes if you want to hang out. We expect reservations. Keep in mind that this is a breakfast place around the corner from the homeless shelter. Now you can expect to pay top dollar for smaller portions and the adding pleasure of being snubbed by a staff with an attitude. Things have certainly changed. He told us to go to Garden of the Gods down the road. Obviously he didnt need our business.
Super busy for Sunday brunch, but rightfully so. Food was great. My Blood Orange Mimosa was not what I was expecting. It didnt have orange juice, instead maybe a blood orange syrup? Not too sure. I finished it nonetheless. Cool atmosphere! Ill be back for sure.
Went this morning for brunch and ordered the farmhouse burger and the chicken and biscuit (add gravy and Nashville hot sauce) both were a 10/10! The hairy Bloody Mary presentation was great and they were strong! Appreciate the amazing service we had today for our party of 4 by the owner/manager. Will definitely be back for waffles next time!
Pretty lackluster.. wouldnt recommend the picnic pie. They compare it to a quiche, which is an insult to quiche. Especially when they throw a whole boiled egg into the piece.. Nashville hot didnt leave me wanting to go to the hospital for 3rd degree throat burns and the biscuits were pretty doughy. 2 star for young adults, 5 star for grandparents.
Great menu if ur open to try something not ordinary but very delicious.
Nice little meetup place. Had a live band, I think it was Friday night.
Stellar breakfast food, had the fried chicken and and fruit and oat bake dish that was phenomenal. Waffles looked amazing. Worth a visit.
My girlfriend and I were on a bike ride and stopped at Urban Steam to grab coffee. Upon entering, we were greeted by the presumed manager. We can only assume it was “ Kelly”…based on previous reviews. He welcomed us with the comment “ oh, you don’t need a mask here. You especially don’t need a mask to ride your bikes around the city”. He said this loudly in front of many other customers. I laughed uncomfortably and asked if we could sit outside. He replied “ I guess”. We were then seated outside and an unmasked waitress arrived to take our order. I was very uncomfortable with how close the waitress was standing to us without a mask. I let her know that we were feeling uncomfortable and would rather leave. We didn’t complain or make a scene. We just got up and walked to our bikes. The manager then followed us to our bikes and proceeded to ask if there was a problem. We explained that we were uncomfortable with the mask situation and felt that he immediately shamed/mocked us for wearing masks when we arrived. He then replied with the always empowering and flattering statement “ we just want to see your pretty smiles and make sure everyone is feeling uncomfortable ( unless you prefer to wear a mask). We then departed on our bikes. He continued to harass you a as we rode away. I give an extra star because the coffee menu looked like it would have been really good and one of the waitresses apologized that she didn’t have a mask.
The service was poor and the place was empty. It’s hard to screw up a burger and these folks managed to screw up. DO BETTER
Host with the handlebar mustache snarled at our party of 8 when we walked in the restaurant like we were teenagers late to our curfew. We all understood he was busy and the circumstances with being short staffed but there was no need to take your personal frustrations out on a few tourist from Iowa. Didn’t even try the food and don’t care to.
This place was excellent! Delicious food, friendly staff, unique atmosphere.they overcooked my sunny side up eggs, and I heard this chef saying something about they needed to add the cheese and thats why the eggs cooked too long. which if that is the case then you need to add the cheese earlier, because I like my yolk runny. However, they replaced the eggs quickly and they were nice about it. I believe good customer service doesnt necessarily mean not making mistakes its how you handle them. So I give them five stars
Nearly everything on the menu could have been made vegan so easily, but instead they chose not to accommodate ethical people. :/
Excellent chef! Party of 8 and everyone had a great meal. We enjoyed the host. Dont let the neighborhood dissuade you.
A modern take on a cafe/bistro with a kick! The staff is very friendly, the food is wonderful, coffee is on point, and they have Great Whisky! Weekends bring a breakfast menu thats sure to satisfy (pictured is the Carolina Crab Cakes Benny!) Lunch is no different. I highly recommend that you venture out and try this hidden gem!
The mimosas were AMAZING. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was incredible. I would highly recommend this place.
Been here quite a few times, only one eeh experience with the food but it hasnt happened again. The food is very fresh, nice and organic. The atmosphere is up my alley, I love how real the staff is not fake nice but real. The music is fantastic, coffee is way too good and hell, they even had a Samurai Jack marathon on the television and in my opinion that is important to have shows that are amazing to watch instead of the basic sports channels and soap operas. Keep it up guys.
Had a wonderful Mothers day brunch! Always pleased with whatever dish I pick and the menu is full of delightful choices healthy and sweet! Lacy, our server was very upbeat and accommodated our every want with a smile in her voice! Highly recommend!!
Food was yummy! Chicken and waffles (southern comfort), monkey wrench, sierra madre azul, and urban tourist were perfect. Coffee was nice and strong. Good service.
Today was my first time being here...love it...smelled so great, nice vibe, friendly staff, coffee was good. Im allergic to pork so had to change what I wanted to order 3 times...im kinda used to it although I wish places would get ONE pan so they could accommodate allergies and not just cook everything on the grill. I totally know everything tastes better after cooking bacon, just some of us can have it. I wonder how kosher people do it sometimes. Anyway its a great place 😀 fingers crossed that in the future I might be able to have a grilled cheese sandwich here in a fresh pan, or eggs 😀
My wife and I go to urban steam every time we are in Colorado Springs. Food and coffee are great and the owner is really nice
Great place, amazing food. Ony problem is he price for the portion size was not even. Too much money for not enough food. Amazing food though
Made a reservation for 4 tonight and went in where a sign said please seat yourself. So we did because any sign of a host or hostess just starred at us from afar. Then we sit at a clear table and notice that the table is dirty. After 10 minutes of not getting service I went to the host stand and told the man that I had a reservation and I havent gotten any drinks or service. He said hed have someone come. We got waters from a woman and the man came over with menus and I asked if he could wipe the table down because it was dirty. The girl said oh yeah I did wipe the table but I will again. And the man said to me, did you seat yourself? We wouldnt have sat you here. I said, there is a sign at the door that says seat yourself and he says yeah, I know with an attitude. Then he went on to tell my whole table that we need to be patient because of the times we are in and theyre understaffed and whatnot. I totally understand that but dont make it where people can make a reservation and then you cant accommodate them. They had one server for the whole restaurant basically. The food was mediocre. The drinks would have been good if they werent watered down by the time we got them. I gave 3 stars because theyre a local business, but our whole dinner experience wasnt pleasant in the slightest so I should have gave less stars. I will try them again for breakfast instead and will change my review accordingly.
Fantastic wait staff with beautiful energy. The place itself is comfortable and I love the modern industrial look. I got the monkey wrench waffle, which was impressively decorated with walnuts and whipped cream. Tasted delicious. Prices are great and so is the hand pour coffee. I enjoyed the simplicity if the entire time I was there.
The atmosphere is cool! And I appreciate how the staff were friendly and very accommodating :))
The staff and food were amazing. Thank you Liz for taking me to this wonderful place.
Amazing Deviled Eggs, the most loaded up street tacos Ive ever had. Great stuff.
Attr a scrumptious breakfast. Service is top notch. And they nailed my cappuccino.
Gave me my sandwich on a biscuit because they were out of a bun. Didnt ask, just served me direct. Was busy, so ate and left. Wont come back.
Google Kelly Bubach look at his history treating customers and employees!! The way we were treated here was appalling to say the least. The bald headed manager is deplorable. My husband simply asked if we could get some more of the $7 endless chips we paid for and were told point blank that he wasnt getting them. Wow you have ONE server and you arent willing to help them out?! Then follows him to our table to harass us and proceeded to ask if weve worked a long shift...um YES and weve actually worked! No wonder youre short staffed! Who would want to work for someone who wants to put their feet up he says. And asked for us to leave a 1 star review! The audacity.
The staff here is AMAZING! The food is also very good. They have a nice little bar and some surprisingly classy food! I remember them telling us that Monday (I think) is unlimited spaghetti and they also have taco Tuesday! They arent really set up for groups bigger than 6 but that creates a cozy and intimate atmosphere. They also have a few TVs with cute shows and stuff on them. The kitchen is open and the owner is very involved which was amazing.
This place probably makes the best damn waffles Ive ever had in my entire life. Combine that with the great coffee and tea and youll have yourself an absolutely perfect spot to stop and chill for the morning. Or hell anytime of day it doesnt matter, just please stop by. Youll never forgive yourself if you dont.
Great food with a unique spin on traditional dishes. The Chai latte is the only one in town with the perfect amount of spice! Food is always fresh and consistent in taste and portion size.
Highly recommend!! Small town charm but the best meals of our trip. We ordered the Da Boss breakfast bowl and Sunrise burrito. The burrito & Cheddar biscuit is to die for!!
Cool little place food was good. Abita Root Beer was off the chain
I went in to order some to go and as I walked in I was greeted by what I believe is a new Hostess. She greeted me with this happy energy. With a mask you dont see a smile but I could tell with her eyes. I was having a hard time deciding but she was very patient with me. It felt very welcoming. Definitely made my day. This experience is definitely unforgettable and the food is amazing. Will recommend.
Visiting from out-of-town and stopped in for a late breakfast on a Friday in June. Uber driver that dropped us off warned us to not wander around the local area as it was overrun with the homeless that live along Fountain Creek. So, that was nice... lolI had the Classic Brekkie. Overall, good standard breakfast fare. However, the house roasted potatoes were magnificent. If Im ever back here Ill just get a mountain of those potatoes and gorge myself on them Very tasty!Service was friendly. Its a busy place, but we receive friendly attentive service from a smiling waitress. Its a neat place and a great option for breakfast. Check it out.
Food was terrific, and service too. I was able to substitute waffle for biscuit, which made my meal!
We came in as tourists to try a new place while out of town. We were met at the door with a horrible attitude and only thing said to us was reservation? I informed them we werent aware we had to have one got told well you do, we can seat you around 11 that would have been 2-3 hours later so we left and wont be coming back on our next vacation...
Cool atmosphere, great staff, and most of all the hilariously named delicious food!!! Would love to go back!!
I had an accepted 1:30 reservation. When we arrived about 1:15 the host said they were closing until 3:00, but a manager said to seat us. The server came by and said she would be right back with menus. When she returned we were told we could order drinks but nothing from the kitchen. It was an awkward and clumsy experience, but we left without protest.Ive always enjoyed Urban Steam, but wont be eating there again
