Awesome selection of comic books, this has been a Colorado Springs staple for a long time. We used to frequent here once a month, but I dont collect comics anymore. But this place is still awesome!! You can get any type of book you want. From vintage to modern day. You cannot go wrong by going here.

This is just a store front for scalpers. $9.99 Pokemon card packs to $9.99 new comics, and they just sell everything on eBay. Theres no comic book shop, in Colorado Springs, thats any good. These people might be the worst. Just go up the road to Denver, or shop online.

Stopped by here on a whim, my husband got some graphic novels for his collection, the kids got Capt Marvel action figures, and I got several Wolverine comics for my collection, including this piece de resistance. Very pleased 😁

Great staff! The downtown shop is friendly and inviting, they have a kids section right upfront (for those who feel like a comic book shop is a daunting place to bring kids) they have a monthly comic book book club which is possibly the best book club Ive ever been too. Everyone has such great ideas and the conversations are very civil no one talks over anyone else and the staff moderates this discussion with great questions. Oh and they have food, drinks and raffle prizes so pretty great all around.

Great store, very well kept and clean. Organized, Knowledgeable staff and good service. Only down side is parking is metered but that is not their fault. Good selection of merchandise on hand from comics, figurines and graphic novels. I keep going back. They also continue to get back-issues in and will hold requested items for a period of time.

Escape Velocity Comics is, without a doubt, the best bookstore in Colorado Springs. Their selection is vast, and the staff picks and featured books always assure something new to be discovered.I also once met Robert Plant in here.

Went into this store to find a gift. Never have I been so insulted. One person suggested a comic by skin color. As I check out, looking at the impulse buys keychains etc. etc. One lady stands as though she’s sipping her coffee to make sure I don’t steal. After I caught her doing so, she couldn’t make eye contact. Thanks for letting me know how Black I am.

The staff is excellent and very accommodating. The back issues are all alphabetized too! Even the dollar boxes were sorted, which Ive rarely run across in my travels. They ordered a book for me while I was in town which came in when they said it would. The back issues prices are cheap and they even have some collections of issues bundled as popular story arcs and intro runs. I got The Manhattan Projects 1-15 for $25 which is a great deal. The #1 was an Image Firsts which is a cheap reprint, but for that price, who cares! Ill get an original #1 at the next con. Ill go here every time Im in town.

Great customer service, great selection of new comics and a quality stash of older ones. Even the $1.00 bargain bins are always full of titles worth buying. Good selection of collectors merchandise (toys, jewelry, shirts), but not so much that it overshadows the comics. The employees are helpful and friendly. I read other reviews saying ordering specific titles has been a problem, but Ive never had a bad experience. If they dont think they can get it, they are honest about it. This has quickly become my favorite comic book store in town :)

This is my first comic book store in years so I dont have a lot to compare it to, but this place was nice. A large selection of New issues as well as back issues. The staff seemed very knowledgeable about all things comic. Its in a nice location downtown as well. So if you need some comics, this is the place!

A decent little comic book shop with a fair selection. The staff is warm and helpful. They have a broad range of graphic novels and trade paperbacks, but not a huge back issue collection. They only buy comic books at certain times of the year unless you have something really hot.

This little book store has a lot of variety. Customer service is rather snobbish, the 2 I ask for assistance, but who knows why. Definitely no smiles or May I help you.

Escape Velocity comics has been around for years in Colorado Springs. They have wall to wall selections of comics, graphic novels, trade paperbacks, nerd apparel and gifts. On the first Friday of every month they have a special event that coincides with the down town art scene. They even have a ladys night at the downtown store once and a while. The best part about the place is the staff. They know there stuff and can point you to new titles even answer questions relating to story with some comics. This is where i send anyone and everyone looking for comics.

Every time I go there I am greeted and treated great! Never had a problem! I love the store and the people who work there. Everyone I have met has never treated me as an outside (I am new to the American Comic Book scene). And because of that I really respect this store. Its a great place! I will contiune to shop here!

I was asked to leave after reading a couple comics here. I was well dressed and groomed, handling the comics with care, and the shop was empty. I guess they want you you to buy something and get the hell out. Nice employees but being so guarded with your comics is really against the spirit of comic books I feel.

Always has great deals. Been coming in for awhile now. The only feedback I have, is the hispanic guy seems mad all the time. But, you still get a 5 because I always find something good.

Was visiting my brother for about 36 hours so we didnt have much time, but had to make this pitstop.It didnt disappoint. Great selection of original variants. Was able to find a copy of Civil War 2: Fallout as well.

Ive shopped here for years and the staff has always been knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The store is reasonably priced and well-stocked with the newest comics and graphic novels, t-shirts, toys, and various other related merchandise. They regularly run sales, special events, and happily promote local writers and artists. They also have free hold file services and give discounts if you subscribe to several titles.I do a lot of special ordering and the process works smoothly 95% of the time. The other 5% is nearly always a problem with the supplier (Diamond) in cancelling orders without directly informing the store. Ive never had issues with being contacted about my orders, but I have a hold file and, like most enthusiasts, visit the shop nearly weekly for the latest releases.

Great selection of newer comics, not as much in the way of older stuff. They also have a decent selection of action figures and other collectibles, such as trade paper backs. The staff is awesome and ready to provide recommendations and help as needed.

I moved here in July 2012. Escape Velocity was within a 1/2 mile of my new home. (1) I visited the first Wednesday I was in town. As I walked around the shop, I never once was greeted. Heck, the Owner behind the counter never even looked up from his reading. (2) Decided to try again. Maybe this time they would greet me or even tell me about their services. Nope. Not a chance. (3) Found some things through Diamond that I wanted to order. Walked in and placed the order after the Owner had difficulty finding the items. Waited one month with no word. Went back in to cancel the order. The Owner informed me my order had arrived 3 days ago. Yeah? Why didnt you call me? You have my phone number; is it so hard for a little customer service?Overall, the shop is rude and inconsiderate. They dont want your business and if you have requests, well, thats just going to bother them. DO NOT SHOP HERE.

Were new to town. Military move. A store called Video Game Exchange told us of this place. Its perfect. I am a geek at heart, and so is my son. I have seen stores like this, but not with such great service.

A nice comic shop that has a diverse range of newer comics and a good amount of premium back issue. The owner is a somewhat sour mean guy, but he is rarely seen and all of his staff are really friendly and very helpful.

I usually have decent service. But tonight I came in after work trying to pick up some comics for my boyfriend ones that he literally buys every single week. When I asked if they could help me find them they told me as I listed them off that either they never carry that one or they pulled it. Except one which they pulled it out because it was right there. Yes it was about half an hour before they closed but that was the soonest I could get there. Would it have been so hard to take 5 minutes to just help

A very clean place. They have alot of up-to-date comics and the staff is friendly. I believe if you have 10 subs you get 15% off... and if have less than 10 subs you get 10% off. I left because another comic shop gave me 25% off for 10> subs and I didn’t have to pay city taxes.

Ive been reading comic books for a strong minute (see: 13-16 years). Ive bought comics in Missouri, Kentucky, Ohio, Washington, DC, and most recently, Colorado Springs. So its not entirely piping smoke when I say that Escape Velocity is the exception that really proves the rule with comics shops.First, cleanliness. Most comic shops are, at best, sterile but not really clean. Like a hospital. You could eat off anything, but you wouldnt want to. Escape Velocity is not edible, but it is clean and comfortable. This gives them a tack-on bonus you dont always see: they are well-lit. Many comics shops feel like the proprietor moved his stash from his basement to his shop and tried to mimic the feel of the former. Not here. Clean and well-lit. SO comforting.Second, the staff. Comics shops have a reputation for employing geek/nerd Comic Book Guy characters who are simply taken aback if you admit you havent read Sandman or The Adventures of Hawkman (at least) 1-37. Say nothing of the attitudes many of these shops hold toward women by virtue of their being staffed by men more interested in comic books than in adulthood. Escape Velocity, however, is consistently staffed by friendly people who know the material (at least, enough to be useful if you need help), who are friendly, approachable, polite, as respectful as anyone has any reasonable right to demand one human being be to a complete stranger whos thinking of spending all of three dollars in their store, and (though I cannot speak with absolute confidence, I feel I can say through having been there with my girlfriend several times) free from chauvinism, misogyny, and the unfortunate disrespect of/for women that pocks so many comics stores.tl;dr? Okay, heres the bottom line. Clean, friendly, knowledgeable, well-stocked, well-staffed, and all of these to a conspicuous level. THE BEST comics-shopping/buying experience Ive had ANYWHERE.
