I would recommend Midas if you know exactly what you need and have the knowledge to say no to “recommended repairs.” The staff is extremely friendly, but if I would have just let them do everything they suggested I would’ve paid almost $1000 more than I needed. I just needed brake pads but they suggested a new battery, new back tires, diagnostic check etc. Luckily I know enough about my vehicle to know why the check engine light is on and what exactly needs repaired. If you’re unsure what the exact issue is or uncomfortable saying no to things, it might be worth checking out a local mechanic first. All that being said, I’d go back for future (targeted) repairs. The service was both expedient and well done.

I hate to give a not so good review! But, this was the closest car place to me when I was in a car situation and needed help. First off the wanted to charge me $75 to just look at my Exhaust, When my Exhaust WAS NOT THE PROBLEM! When they FINALLY let me explain to them what I was experiencing, then they were going to charge me $75 to look at the suspension/tires, which I didnt expect it to be Free, but the price was pretty steep...After waiting for over an hour, and no one saying anything to me, I went to use the restroom and I guess thats when they realized that they forgotten about me, because when I came out my vehicle was gone! I told the person at the front desk that I was going to just take it somewhere else, and before I could get the words out, they were pulling in with my vehicle... They had driven 2mins. max!! As they were about to pull into the bay, I asked if I owed anything for him driving it, because I didnt want to keep waiting there, and move on down the road to another place who I felt more comfortable with. I didnt have to pay anything for my time wasted, which was really nice of them! But, I definitely dont think that I will be going back to that location again!!I have always had good results with Midas, so I believe that its this location that is not up to par. I wouldnt recommend.

Very pleased with the staff and their service. I arrived early and they worked me in, offered advice without pressuring or trying to upcharge me. I would recommend this store and their professional. They are fair in pricing and want your business.

I will never give this place my business again.On March 26, 2021 at 11am i took my vehicle here complaining about a strange noice coming from the front wheel. It was was squeaking, popping and whining. I had them do their suspension check for $35 plus taxes. I received a quote of about $785, which i agreed. I was given a loaner car and was told it would be a 4 hour job. i went home to find out the tags read Jan 20. 1 year and 3 months expired. The receptionist called about 2pm saying the tech told her it stalled once or twice, in her words. I explained there was nothing wrong under the hood, only what i was quoted for. She agreed. Around 4pm she calls back to tell me that my car is ready and when the manager, Richard, took it for a test drive there was no more stalling miraculously. I go back for my car and it made the same noise before i could leave the parking spot. Richard got in the car with me and acknowledged the noice. He quoted me another $450 to fix it AGAIN. I called corporate and im waiting for a response but im very disappointed in this service. Richland was very curt and dismissive. They are taking advantage of female customers and its unfair. Save money and a headache and go to another shop.Update: Richard the store manager called me Saturday and apologized. He told me to bring my car in Wednesday and they would fix the struts for free. After ther struts were fixed there is still a slight noise but it was something i agree that was too costly at the time. He refunded me the $714 84 i paid and left all of the work done. Even thought i still have to get more front end work done im extremely satisfied with this outcome. Maybe he was having a bad day which we all do. Im nit sure but it was handled properly. Considering the outcome i would actually recommend this place. Hopefully them or no other customer will go through anything like this again

Went to Midas this morning to get them to take a look and possibly fix my car. It was shaking every time I cranked it and would continue to shake while I drove it. An hour after dropping it off and paying 150 dollars on a diagnostic, they tell me a list of things they wanna do to my car followed by another diagnostic which would put me at a 2000 dollar bill. I decided to take it to a family member, and after a 60 dollar cylinder coil my problem was solved and I cannot believe Midas is really out here charging people and telling them what they “NEED” to do to your car. I cannot afford a 2000 dollar bill and if I wanted a payment plan I would go buy a brand new car. All in all I wish I could give them a no star review please do not take your car to Midas

This place is the best. I had a small issue that I needed to get checked out and had my car in and out quickly with no charge. These people have great customer service and really care about the cars they’re working on. Would highly recommend and will go back

On January 3, 2018, I was traveling from New York to Florida with both of my adult children and two dogs, when our cars exhaust system began making rattling noises. We exited the interstate in Columbia, SC and stopped at a Goodyear store, which recommended the Millwood Avenue Midas Shop. Even though the shop was extremely busy that day, Frank and Joe invited us all in, and within an hour they had the car examined. Within another hour we were back out on the road! No appointment, and with a snow storm barreling down on SC, they got us in and safely back on the road in under two hours! They made us feel welcome, and even allowed our two small dogs to come in and stay warm in the waiting area while the car was being taken care of. I cannot give a high enough recommendation to accurately express their fairness, compassion, and kindness to travelers in a stressful situation. They are an AWESOME bunch of folks!

Joe, Paul, and the team at Millwood continue to impress with their professionalism, honest and sound advice, and true care for the customer. They do a great job taking care of my and my wife’s vehicles, and it’s always pleasure to be greeted warmly when we have walk in. Tried to get me to pay for the top of the line oil change for $100 when all I needed was a 5w20 change. Never going back here again and definitely not recommending to any of my friends

The Midas on Millwood is great. On the site they send you a complete status of car necessities straight to your smart phone so that there are no questions. Then an experienced technician goes over it with you. They also finance the work should you need it. The staff is respectful, honest and courteous.

I went to them because I had just bought my car and the light came on saying I needed to check my power steering. When I took my car to them they said they would do a free complimentary check which sounded nice so I allowed the manager to do that. He informed me that nothing was wrong with my power steering but a lot of other things was wrong with my car. Apparently my brake pads were worn, my tires were bare, my alignment was off and etc. The manager had me terrified! Mind you I had just bought the car about three weeks before hand. As a result I ended up leaving my car for them to “work on it”. When I called multiple friends (about 4 persons) and told them what happened everyone said the same thing. They told me that’s what mechanics do in order to try to get money out of you. They basically make things up so they can work on you car just to get money out of you! I called within thirty minutes of them working on my car and they told me that they had already completed 250 dollars worth of work on my car! I truly believe they lied but of course I had no way to prove it. Frank and Blair both had excellent customer service and very knowledgeable. Went above and beyond on a simple oil change and checked out a stuttering issue on my car priced that out along with a few things my car will need coming up. No pressure on the sales. I will definitely be coming back very soon to get the rest of the work done. Recommend this location!

Joe and Blair have been maintaining my vehicles for 20 years. They are honest with their recommendations and advise on must do and can wait items. From my time observing them with customers, they present a clear diagnosis and only make recommendations without trying to upsell. They also treat my family as friends. If they outlive me, my wife knows who to trust with any auto item. With a tight labor market, I expect the owner understands how valuable these guys are.

I called for an appointment in the middle of the day, and was taken in immediately. I usually use another company, however Midas was able to take care of my needs the same day. They completed the work quickly and suggest other issues I didnt know about be rectified. The rep was kind and cheerful, the manager was friendly and helpful. I will return for sure.

Charged me for something they didnt even fix they couldnt even do an oil change

I went there Because my AC wasnt working and I had a weird noise from my tires that I didnt know what it Was. They ended up doing a diagnostic on my AC and my suspension system that cost me $400 While they drained my AC and reCharged iT. They ended up telling me that my ball joints needed to be replaced. Now I have ever had my ball joints go bad Before and my car wasnt doing anything like that So I denies the service. They Called me back and said that they didnt suggest for me to even drive my car to another lot to get it checked out because it was so bad. I took my car to another shop and they said my ball joints were tight and in place. He said he would not charge me for something that didnt need to be replaced. Even though he could have Made a quick 600 off me. He would not take the money. My AC didnt even get fixed correctly. But the other shop has taken care of me properly!! Will NOT be back!!!! Its cool that they had a loaner car thoug While they workeD on your car

I had a flat tire and within an hour and a half it had been repaired and at NO CHARGE!!! In this day and age how often does that happen. Not only was the service timely, I actually had a great time conversing with Joe Slice, the manager, Frank Floyd, Service Advisor and Paul!! It was such a great pleasure doing business with these great and knowledgeable men! THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT SERVICE!!

This is the one place I absolutely would not recommend anybody ever using! In my opinion one star is too much. Every time you go in there they try to sell you a whole damn new car. All their mechanics must work strictly on commission because all I want to do is sell you every single part they can possibly pawn off on you.

The service technicians at this location are wonderful! Frank helped me out SO much. I called at the last moment and he was able to work me in on a busy day for an oil change and car maintenance. He also added on a coupon I would have never known about had he not mentioned it! I had several things wrong with my car they found during the inspection, Frank gave me a detailed overview of everything they found and made sure I understood the importance of each. I very much appreciated the level of detail and care I was received at this location, the service and quality was unmatched!

I came into Midas thinking my brakes were about to give out; Frank and Paul got me seen right away and picked out every single issue they saw with my car, but didn’t pressure me into fixing it all in one day. Frank prioritized my issues and helped me out immensely, and just made me feel like everything would be okay. He really goes out of his way to serve his customers - he’s a 5 star guy. I came in with what turned out to be a tire issue at 5:00pm on the 3rd of July. Even though it was close to closing the day before a holiday, the technicians and customer service team took time to diagnose my problem and get me a good deal on the tires I needed. Could not have been happier with the service I received.

SCAM. Went here twice and both times felt similar. The first was an oil change that lasted well over an hour with the car on the rack. Following the oil change, theyll give you a laundry list of whats wrong with the car, trying to get you to pay even more. You have to get badgered every time you get something done. The second time I went was for a check engine light. Almost 3 hours go by and I get told my turbo in my car is filled up with oil and Ill have to pay $1400. The car had 47K miles on it, the turbo did not go bad and a turbo will burn or leak oil resulting in smoke emitting from the exhaust, but not sit there filled with oil. Within that same phone call I get told I need this, this and this and they put me at a total closer to 3 grand. Once again badgering their customers for even more money. Next week, I go to the dealership and the problem was that the oil was low. Dishonest!

By far, this is consistently the best customer service I have received from any car repair/ maintenance shop.

My truck got a flat tire right outside the shop. They had closed just prior to my incident, but the employee was more than willing to stay on his personal time and help me out. I insisted on paying cash for his services, but he refused. The employees here value their profession and go above and beyond for customers. I trust this Midas team with whatever they tell me because they always let me know whether my car is in good shape, anything that needs to be done now, and anything that can wait and they will keep watching for me between oil changes. You REALLY need to try this place out. They are really fair priced to and you never have to worry about going anywhere else because they do everything here. They have even taken care of dealer recalls, so I dont have to deal with them!!

Usually Im please with the service. Had an oil change a few weeks ago and notice my tires were not rotated. I call to informed the store that tires were not rotated as well as I knew it was something strange that day with service. Usually when they are finish they come out with a sale opportunity or discuss brakes or whatever. That didnt happen on that visit. Of course they defended their technicians but no apologies or anything. Need to say I will not be back. Thats the only reason I went there because of the courtesy check. Those little things like that help me someone who knows nothing about cars keep up with it.

**BE WARNED** I have never commented on any business service before. I allowed Midas to tow my car to their Millwood location because it would not start. They told me I needed a new motor. They quoted me $5,000 for a used motor. When I told them I couldnt afford that, they quoted me $3100 for a motor. I decided to take my car to another mechanic. The problem was the FUEL PUMP!! NOT THE MOTOR!! He fixed it for $370 and it runs perfectly. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THE MIDAS ON MILLWOOD. They are crooks!!!! The guy Josh that works there is definitely a crook!!!

Scam artists. Tire had a slow leak and my wife took the car in for inspection. The manager, Joe, said there was a nail in the tire and it couldnt be repaired. I asked for him to keep the tire to show me. Seemed reasonable at the time. After new tire was put on, car pulled to the right. Joes solution was to replace all four tires even though they still had plenty of tread left. Car still pulls to the right. When I went in, how ironic that the tire he promised to keep with the nail was now suddenly missing. I told him to have a manager above him contact me. Think I ever got a response? They preyed on my wifes lack of knowledge about tires to sell her tires when they werent needed.

I just had an awesome experience here getting my fuel filter replaced. The staff was friendly and personally showed me a few things I didnt know about my vehicle without being pushy or overbearing. A very solid group of employees.I will certainly give them more of my business.

Had a really great experience here that made my day. This shop is near our house, and as I was leaving to run some errands my tire started losing air. I was able to pull the vehicle into Midas on Millwood before it got too flat. Sure enough though it was flat in minutes.Frank and team took care of me from there. Right now life has me driving over 1,000 miles per week and for this to be so straight forward was one of those little things that means more to me than they probably knew. Id also like to mention the shop was providing on Veterans day free oil changes for those who have served in our military.This is our go to shop in Columbia going forward.

Ive been going to this Midas for three years now with two different vehicles. The only problem ever encountered was the last time I went they forgot to reset the computer and tell it that the oil was changed. Took it back two days later and that was done in three minutes. This place is great.

I happened to be driving to a friends house and realized I had a flat tire. Since I have a bunch of children, I was not thrilled about the fact that I might need to get a new tire. I stopped into Midas and they checked the tire, plugged it for me AND did the work for free thanks to a promotion they had going on. What could have been a huge pain was a fairly quick and easy process. When I picked the car up, they have me a few recommendations for some fixes I needed but they did not pressure me at all. Wonderful service. I highly recommend these guys.

Went there to ask for a 2000 Toyota Camry exterior door handle to ask about pricing for the part and labor. A sales associate told me the part would be 89 dollars and 329 for part plus labor. I found the exterior door handle piece for 14 dollars on Amazon. Sad they are ripping people off....

We have been using Midas for our routine oil changes, but due to a few bad experiences we have decided to no longer use them. Two times ago, they said they could not remove our back right tire to rotate it unless we paid $150 for a replacement part. I declined. This time, they got the tire off no problem, but forgot to rotate it. Yes, they removed all of the tires before putting them back in the same place. Then, they did not even screw back in all of the lug nuts, and we lost a hub cap the day after the visit. An hour and a half after we arrived for our pre-scheduled visit, I hope they actually changed our oil. I can’t be sure, because Joe didn’t give us the standard visual courtesy check, and the sticker on our wind shield was not replaced. I would think twice before giving them $30 for an oil change...

Needed new battery and had rear brakes replaced. Frank and Joe have work on all our cars for years. 175000 mile on this one now.

These guys quoted me $2700.00 to fix the A/C in my car. They said I needed to replace the entire A/C unit including compressor, condenser, and lines. This was after taking it to them 3 sepearate times, where each time, they kept adding more and more dye into the system and saying they couldn’t find any leaks. On the third and final visit, they said that there was so much dye all over everything in my engine that they couldn’t see anything through the mess and I needed to replace the whole thing and quoted me the $2700.00. I wanted to say, “Duh, you guys are the very ones who put all that dye in there! Please clean up your mess!” I will say, the staff there is friendly and all and had done decent work for me in the past, but I didn’t have a good feeling about this one. I took it to someone else for a second opinion and they fixed the one bad line they found (which they said was blatantly obvious) for me for $500.00. That’s after they cleaned up all the dye mess the guys at Midas made. Thanks for trying to price gouge me fellas, won’t be using ya’ll or recommending ya’ll anymore. Maybe just to fix my flat tires since you do that free, but I’m not sure I trust you to even do that anymore at this point.

I was having a major problem with my car. Called them up on a Saturday morning to try and make an appointment with them for that week. Guy on the phone said to come on by and hed get me in. I was immediately served when I got there and my car was up on the jack within twenty minutes of getting there. They were able to figure out the problem and its solution within forty five minutes of me walking in the door. They showed me what was wrong, gave me an estimate and got it done that day. Everyone I interacted with there was friendly, courteous knowledgable, and most importantly, honest. I hope that my car does not have any problems again, but if it does, I know exactly where I am going to take it.

The first time I delt with this store, I could not have been happier. They were friendly, and fixed the a/c on my car. So, when I relieved a coupon in the mail for a free oil change, I thought I would receive good service. Needless to say, that was the furthest thing from what happened. When I made my appointment online, I received a phone call to confirm my appointment, and made them aware of my coupon, as well as the make and model of my car. They told me that I would receive the free oil change. When I brought my car in, the man there told me I could not have the free oil change because my car took a different type of oil. I informed him that the person I spoke to on the phone said I would absolutely get the free oil change and made no mention of me not getting it because of the oil. The man I spoke to at the store was incredibly rude, and basically called me a liar. I then called midas customer service, and they were incredibly helpful. The first time I was put on a call with the manager, and rude doesnt even begin to describe his attitude. After basically saying I was a liar, he informed me that he would put cheap oil in my car, which would void my warranty, if I wanted him to. I told him I would not sign off on something that could damage my car. He repeated himself over and over like he thought he could make me agree to do something that could damage my car. I finally told him to have a nice day and that I would never be back, and hung up. The issue is now with the management above their store. I hope they look at all of the terrible reviews this store has,and make some much needed changes in staff.

Poor workmanship. Had steering rack replaced in dodge ram. Josh failed to locate nearby parts from dealership, had vehicle for 3 days. Inefficient and incompetent. The midas in Raleigh later found that Josh hadnt tightened bolts on rack, leaving the steering 6 degrees out of alignment. Poor work, worse attitude.-Josh M

I normally dont leave review comments. But I just had to after the experience I had today. I called ahead to see the wait for an oil change. The gentleman told me it would be an hour and a half, which was ok for me. I got there and 3 min after arriving they pulled my car in. One guy came and informed me of minor issues I have with my car, which I already knew which was cool. Twenty min later I was out of there. Great job guys, my car runs alot better now.

Best customer service ever and a team of top notch mechanics

They installed my brake pads with two inner pads on one side of the car and the two outer pads on the other side. Then, when I took the car back because I was having difficulties with the brakes, they told me I needed a new brake caliper on the left side, but they only replace them in pairs. They also stated I needed new tires, a fuel system cleaning, brake pads, rotors, and brake kits. This totaled over $1500. I told them to put my car back together, and that I was taking it somewhere else.I was saved by Mooneyhans, a local, family-owned auto shop in West Columbia. They were the ones who asked me who did my brakes before. I told them of my experience with Midas on Millwood. They told me about the ever-dreaded, Midas-Touch. Then they told me there was no reason to do both brake calipers; I didnt need new tires; also no point in getting a fuel system cleaning. Their charge for one brake caliper, front brake pads, rotors, and brake kit.... $789. AND, they let me make payments to cover it according to my finances. THATS a REAL business.I will NEVER be going back to Midas again.

My 1st experience here was great, HOWEVER my 2nd experience here which was scheduled prior was HORRIBLE. I arrived to the shop to drop my car off and to get a loaner car in order to make it to work on time. I get there and no one had it notated that I was supposed to get the loaner vehicle even though I was asked prior to confirming the appointment a week prior. I was told that I needed to show i.d. and my insurance info which wasnt a big deal but I didnt have my physical insurance cards. The shop called my insurance company to verify that the policy was active and it was. I was still denied a vehicle because of the physical card. I live maybe 5 mins away and if it was confirmed that I had insurance I could have went home and grabbed the card and took it right back to the shop. EITHER WAY I had and active insurance policy so I should not have been refused. With that being said, I was LATE FOR WORK & MY CAR WASNT FIXED....!!!!!!! Good job guys, you encouraged me to never go back to GREESE MONEY......WELP that makes two of YOU....!!!!!!

With no cars in the bay and four people standing around in the office refuse to rotate two tires when they dont close for another 10 minutes.

Went there and had issues. Had my rear seal replaced and they forgot to adjust my rear yolk on my axle and almost caused it to seize up it felt like. That made my truck almost leave me on the side of the road on the interstate. Fast forward a few days later the linkage on my axles started making noise. They told me the noise might be from my exhaust then I said you put the exhaust on this truck too and boy did that theory change quickly. Fast way forward after 6 trips to Midas and many months later they finally found the noise which of course has nothing do with the failure to adjust my yolk and $300 later we finally got that axle right and by right i mean the way it was for the last 5years before they worked on it. Then the next day and $200 later we finally got those brakes they put on fixed. They did my breaks when I had my seal replacement done. And Ive been back several times for that too because of the horrendous noise they where making. They apparently had to re-replace the rear drums again but I go no explanation as to why. The re-re-re break job shouldve cost me $250 and I only paid $200 so thanks for the great deal on that. After reading the other reviews I see they love to reply to reviews. Strange I have no reply on my review but the manager down there tried to friend me on LinkedIn. Also since Ive posted this review Frank Lloyd and the older manger down there keep sending me harassing request to join my LinkedIn.Oh I did get a reply. Just saw that a year later. Wed be like to get in touch with you. Seems legit lol probably more harassment from the store managers.

Will never go back to Midas on Millwood. Had a simple oil change done and not enough oil was put back in the truck. Also had a break job done they only put 3 lug nuts on a 6 lug nut rim and tire on both sides. Was driving down the interstate and the tire literally almost came off. For someone who hauls lots of equipment could have put my life at risk. Therefore I will never ever go back to this location ever again. And did I mention that I have only taken it there twice. And everytime I have gotten it back I have had problems from work that they have done. If you still proceed to go there then be WARE!!!
