I’m going to be completely honest. I was expecting good things bc that’s all I ever heard about guitar center. I went there twice in the past 4 days looking to buy an acoustic guitar. I went into the room where the acoustic guitars are and looked around for 30 minutes each time. Came out the room, looked around, saw a few guys talking amongst each other. A couple guys looked at me, I nodded my head as if I need help and turned around and went back in. Still, nobody came to assist. After another 20 minutes I left out the room and left the store. Not one time in two visits was I even greeted. I guess my money isn’t welcome there.

Initially I had an amazing experience at this location when looking for equipment to connect my keyboard to my laptop. Alas the cord did not fit but the employee who helped me was very kind. However the next day when I came to return the cord that didn’t work a Middle Aged looking fella with an overgrown 2008 Justin Bieber cut waddled to the counter and made me feel stupid for buying a cord that one of their employees encouraged me to buy and told me would be compatible. He was rude and parsnipity. I’ll return but if I see him slouched over the counter I’m leaving.

Once I finally found a member of staff that was able to assist me, things started rolling along smoothly! The gentleman helped us pick out the right equipment and stand to hold my iPad and the perfect mic stand for my mics! We had a pleasant shopping experience!

I like Guitar Center but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I was there to PURCHASE a guitar and perhaps lessons. After standing there and being seen by a sales person but NOT ACKNOWLEDGED for almost 15-20 minutes, I left. The store was not very busy at all. I walked around the entire store before entering the guitar room just to see how busy they were. Not really sure if Ill be visiting this store again. Was trying to refrain from typing this but, I think my complexion may not have been light enough for assistance. IJS

Man the set up guy, Alex, is the guy. The set ups on 3 of my high end guitars was almost perfect. Jackson USA Select Soloist, Snow White, did a Gibson Standard Tobacco Burst HP, & a Jackson SLX Soloist Orange Crackle. Did a wonderful job, quick, professional, precise. Guys go get you a set up. Floyd Rose will be a bit more in price is all...🎸🎶🎼🎵

After being told that the Guitar Center would replace a nut for $60.00 I inquired. Yes, the young man calling himself a luthier replied. A bone nut,custom fitted, custom slotted for $60.00.So I left my very high end guitar with them and picked it up a week later. No problem at first but the guitar would not stay in tune. I noticed that the nut was moving. So I removed the strings to inspect and the nut fell out when I turned the guitar over. Long story short.A pre slotted Fender bone nut( not a Fender guitar) that I could fit a credit card into the room left in the slot for the nut.So I drove the 25 miles one way to see about. When I got there no one would help. When I finnaly got the attention of someone I told them the story and said I wanted a refund and an apology and I did not want to talk to the kid that lied to me and cheated me. But that is who they went and got. He started shaking his head like I was a nuisance and causing him unnecessary grief and informed me all it needed was some glue.I informed him that glue to hold a hand fitted, hand slotted nut for a high end guitar was unacceptable and Mickey mouse BS and anyone calling himself a luthier should know better. I said plenty more as well.I would not let these people work on a kazoo. I did not get a refund and I will not ever go back.I am editing this because I have been back to the store to return an internet purchase of a used guitar.I saw new faces that were helpful and friendly and it was a pleasant experience. Anyone can have a bad day and every employer has hired bad staff.I hope they turn it around and it seems like they are making the effort.

Good customer service.But that was 3 months ago. Update: I thought setups on acoustic guitars were free. Spent almost a thousand but they did not have a tech, brought it back when they had one about 8 weeks later, was charged $72 for a setup which included new Elixirs. Spoke with the manager but he could not help me. There are many other places such as Sims Music to go to from here on out. Ive come to realize that there is just service and then there is over the top customer service and keeping your business. I didnt have a problem with a free setup on the $600 Seagull I bought last year. Times change and so does where I shop unfortunately. Fairly friendly staff but not true customer oriented.

I love guitars, so I love this place. I build my guitars, so I come here for effects, strings, cables, parts, etc. The thing that got me into building guitars in the first place was the fact that Guitar Centers guitar tech was either backed up or unavailable, so one thing led to another... Anyway, hey I learned a new skill!The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and they have a decent selection of gear. They are cool enough to send you to a competitor if they know they cant help you. Theyve always treated me well, I probably go 3 or 4 times a month.

This is against guitar center itself not necessarily this store....ordered a digital piano on March 3...paid for 2 day shipping. The day of delivery, received an email saying it was on back order....website says “in stock ready to ship”. As of today March 29 I still have not received the piano yet there website still (and has always said) “in stock and ready to ship”. When I inquire as to why it says that, I’m told well some stores have them in stock. So why can’t one of those be shipped to this store? What was supposed to March 5 turned into March 17 which turned into March 26 which has now turned into April 5...finally just canceled my order all together and will be shopping elsewhere.

The guitar department staff (Brian) and management are fantastic people. I got a Gibson SG standard (dream guitar) and noticed the pickups were a little off once i took it home. After coming back we all agreed and they gave me a goo discount. They were kind and cool and didnt make me feel stupid (like SIMS). Good people all around. Shop here.

Been standing looking at basses now for over 15 min., would love to spend some money, just not here now. A staff member helped another customer hook up a guitar to try, then walked away, not even acknowledging I was here. Had no 5-string bass, at least I think, wish I had the opportunity to ask someone, but I wont go looking to them for my business.

The customer service at this store is excellent. I had some difficulty with the corporate Guitar Center. I have had some excellent customer service and some terrible customer service from the corporate call center. In this situation I was told by the call center that they would make no concessions or discounts even after several issues with an order that was eventually cancelled. I called the Columbia store directly to discuss the issue. Even though it was not their fault they took care of me, even calling the regional manager to go above and beyond to take care of me. The store manager listened intently and did everything in his power to make my day. At the end he just said, I want you to have the gear that makes you happy. He absolutely fulfilled that. I very much appreciate they way they look out for their customers at the store level and are willing to fix a customers problem even if the issue is at the corporate level. They very much took care of me and now I have the guitar I have always dreamed of having.

They are handling the covid-19 situation very well. Each shopper is led into the store by an associate who helps him pick out the items he is in search of. The store has a pretty decent selection of drum supplies to include heads, sticks, cymbals, and hardware, but I cannot exactly speak to the other aspects. The service is always good and the employees are available. Its the only real option for a decent selection in the Cola area, but they dont disappoint.

Guitar Center was awesome. I went in there looking for a harmonica just poking around, ended up talking to one of the salesman his name is Jojo, totally awesome dude, got into a really cool conversation ended up hanging out for a while he played a little on the guitar and it was really good let me listen to me play a little on the harmonica. Its people like him Im grateful for I will definitely go back Guitar Center because of him.

Refused service due to my inability to wear mask. Called the manager Austin and I explained why I was unable to wear a mask he still refused. Told me I could shop online. He was unable to permit me to enter without a mask. My husband and I have spend thousands of dollars at this location.... I refuse to shop there ever again...

I love Guitar Center, its one of my favorite stores. There are so many different musical items there, its amazing. I loved the guitar wall, the sound proof drumroom, the piano and microphone area, and the speakers and DJ area. I loved it so much that I came here to pick out a guitar for my birthday. I was having a little trouble deciding which guitar I wanted. So my father asked Maddie about the difference between the two guitars I had narrowed it down to and about what kind of guitar I should get. Maddie was super helpful and knew quite a bit about what we asked her about. She easily answered every question we asked her. Maddie explained to us the different uses for different brands of guitars and what brands different bands used. She definitely helped me pick out my guitar and the accessories to go with it, strings, amp cords, a distortion pedal, a shoulder strap, and a nice gig bag for it. Maddie was really kind and helpful and definitely was a huge help. We came back a couple of weeks after that and Maddie was working and she asked us about how I liked the guitar and told us about amps and which one would be the best to get. Overall, I had a great experience here and I am definitely coming back to get any other musical items I may need.

This Guitar Center is amazing. Every time we go in here the employees are super nice to us, especially Maddie. Shes the best. I came here and got my daughters first guitar, the Schecter Diamond Series, and Maddie was super helpful. She told us the different guitar varieties and which ones are used to play different kinds of music. She also helped us pick out a nice Mustang GT100 amp that my daughter loves. There is a great selection of guitars and guitar accessories to choose from. Theres also microphones, keyboards, headphones, bass guitars, acoustic guitars, effect pedals for guitars, DJ systems, light systems, speakers, drum kits, and more. Also if you need an instrument repaired they have a great repair shop.

If you looking for new or used instruments this is the place to go. They have a huge variety of musical instruments both new and used. Everybody there seems very helpful. The gentleman we talked to today took extra time to explain everything we needed to know about an instrument of which I knew nothing about. Of course thats what they should do but not everybody either take your time to do so when you going to their stores or really have a lot of knowledge about their own products.

Lets start from the fact that I travel in the medical field and play guitar Ive been to guitar centers in the south to Minnesota and New Mexico, what do they have in common? Uneducated and poor customer service by the staff, the only guitar center worth a boot Ive been to is in Minneapolis, the children working there can chit chat and play around but when it comes to helping theyve flat out told me and shown me their useless. Example, I had to help a family choose and select a guitar for there young son wanting to start playing guitar and try and save them money doing so, the mom told methe girl that was helping said she didnt know anything about the guitars., this was in Columbia, SC. I love the prices they have and I love the string club it saves my husband a lot of money its just a wonderful place. I give it 5 stars I would give guitar center a lot more if I could.

Ordered a 2018 (New) Gibson Les Paul Standard and received a Gibson Traditional instead, returned for the STANDARD Les Paul and received a what can only be described as a shop floor demo model. - No paperwork or pick guard etc included (unlike the Traditional) had no option but to request a refund. Sorry to see that Guitar Centers destroying the Gibson brand when theyre all ready in trouble. Guitar Center also doesnt want to try and keep a customer by rectifying the problem by offering a equal or better model for the same price when theyve wasted money on 2 lots of shipping. Been a customer since 1994, probably wont be going back.

Almost my second home lately. Ive bought a bass, bass amp, 6-string electric, guitar amp, acoustic guitar, and a mandolin in the last couple of years. Theyve had all that Ive needed at competitive prices. The location is a little tough to get to at times due to traffic, but its worth the trip.

I love it, they are nice and i dont understand a word they say (I am very unknowledgeable I the music field) I like the place and I went a white lap around without needing to interact with other people yet the place has many many people at all times they are open. So I leave you with this, do you want people who are probably very knowledgeable in the music field (I have no way of knowing) or do you want to go to another place with a lower quality of employees.

Is a pretty nice store and the employees are fairly passionate about what they do. I dont buy much from there because I have almost everything I ever wanted and more than Ill get to in the rest of my life. Every time I buy something from their store it’s always defective or doesn’t work and they always give me a hard time when making returns. First time it was my MPC Live which i bought on a Friday and the employee helping me almost dropped it on the floor. Instead of using a ladder, he knocked it down from the top shelf with a hook. They always print on my receipt “Don’t Return which wasn’t true because for $1038.00 I’ll called customer service and went to exchange it on Sunday after I noticed some major issues with unit Left output was working, usb wasn’t working and it was missing screen protector and the mcs sticker on the front of the unit either they’re repackaging damage gear or something and putting them back on the shelf. I just got the Ableton Push 2 yesterday and the display doesn’t work I knew I should’ve bought it somewhere else but since they had the last one on the shelf I had to get it. This will be my last time purchasing from this guitar center. I’m an essential worker and I work entirely too hard to waste my money on defective equipment. They’re also said I couldn’t return this too I’ll be calling customer service again.

Like going here to get new strings and picks. Probably would not buy a guitar from here because they do not have the best acoustic selection, mostly stage guitars. However, I might buy an electric guitar if I ever want to buy one from here. I was looking at Martin Guitar when buying, they may have a better selection on other acoustic guitars.

Not willing to give much for trade-ins at all and will find anything wrong with a piece youve got and nitpick you to death about it. Some pieces are reasonably priced, others they are waaaaay too proud of. Accessories and other things are a mixed bag the same as the products. Staff are VERY friendly and willing to help with just about anything (except unfortunately the aforementioned trades) All in it is what it is, a brightly painted hole in the wall that sells overpriced noisemakers in the back of nowhere, SC.

I went in store asked a worker if they had stylus and or needles for turntable. The guy said good question, asked a female worker, where she replied no we dont . Told me I would have to go online and order from Amazon. So I left went home looked up stores website, and find stylus and needles in stock. Well there 100 plus dollar loss. Instead of blowing someone off maybe ask someone you work with that know what there talking about.!

I came here to support a local business instead of shopping online like usual. I get here and you have to wait outside forever in a big line. You also have to wear a mask. The fact that they make you wear a mask it should be up to the customer if they want to or dont. I drove 50 miles to come to this store. After this never again ! Its ridiculous.

Excellent place. I was surprised to find that the prices are the same as Amazon or better. Plus i got to try out the guitar and loved it. Got a 400 dollar fender for almost half price. The guy (forgot his name coolest bald guy in the world lol )that helped me out was phenomenal. He found that a case came with a stand everything. I highly recommend checking out this store before buying anywhere else. And there a 45 no excuse warranty right from this store. Plus i got a 2 year no hidden fee warranty through them for 28.00 bucks. Thanks my friend

*This review is for Tyler, Texas GC*In and out in under half an hour and got exactly what I came for. The guys were friendly, professional and courteous, and Daniel checked out my purchase (shook the walls) before I paid. Got a fair trade-in value for my nuclear green Dean Custom Zone guitar applied to my purchase. I would definitely shop here in the future. I was able to park my 18 wheeler out back while I was inside (well, it was on a Sunday so there was nothing parked back there). Nice selection of instruments there in my opinion. Recommended.

Its okay. My only complaint is once you tell someone your just browsing, you still arent left alone for more than a few minutes before someone else comes and asks. This may sound helpful, but when you are trying to decide on something and need to hear the instrument, it becomes quite disruptive.

Maybe a little too low pressure. I was greeted after a few minutes of helping myself to a guitar. I asked a question, gite an answer, but nobody seemed interested in a conversation that might lead to asking me to buy something. The two guitars I looked at both had either a missing /broken piece, but nobody came around again for me to ask about a fix or discount. I left unhindered and drove home to spend 750.00 on a fender telecaster from some store on Reverb. I would have rather taken one home that day.
