Barr Lake is for any nature lover. The path is so well taken care of so you can enjoy your afternoon walking around the lake. Just today I saw four bald eagles, one great horned owl, hundreds and hundreds of beautiful sea birds including pelicans and gulls. It’s a lovely place to explore. And don’t forget to check out the nature center where there’s hundreds of birds at the feeders!

Wonderful place to go on a adventure. We stopped in at the nature center and walked on the Niedrach Trail. Made our way over to the lake to dip are feet in. Lots of scenic areas and places to discover.

Barr Lake is a wonderful experience for every season. The trail is well maintained and the park has many uses. Today on my walk I saw a lot of families fishing, many people taking their dogs on a walk, people on bicycles and folks in their canoes. Its great to see so many people enjoying the outdoors.

This is a great place to go to get a little healing dose of nature close to our city! My wife and I take a quick trip up here to photograph the wildlife, mostly the birds, any time we have some free time!

An attendant greeted us. They had hot water for tea and cocoa along with coffee. You can sit on the couch and watch the various species of small birds at the feeders. Theres lots of interactive things for children. As a matter of fact, there were a group of children in a room having lunch. Lots of taxidermy, both big and small animals, including a bald eagle in a glass case. Stunning. Theres a little gift shop area that sells playing cards, stuffed animals, art work, gorgeous photography, postcards, shirts, hats, etc. A worthwhile visit.

I visited today along with my two grand children. We were treated as though we were the only visitors and they answered numerous questions. The children interacted with three different rangers and were given ranger badges as well as nature material. We also enjoyed a walk on one of the many nature trails. A great family experience and we highly recommend visiting this great park!

Best. Place. Ever!!!!! If you are looking for wonderful outdoor activities for the whole family, Barr Lake is the place. The best thing to do is call the nature center and get on their mailing list, so you will know all the activities they offer throughout the entire year. Most of the activities year around are free, minus a small $8 entrance fee into the park. Most of their events also offer free face painting as well. You wont be disappointed and you get to enjoy the beauty of the state park.

The eagle viewing is magnificent. The eagles are starting to move on to their summer nesting.

Pretty awesome! Indoor nature center has a play table with pelts, bones and other animal touchy things. Theres also a teepee, pillows, interactive fact plaques and some taxidermied animals. Plus a live bunny! Cute gift shop.

Clean, friendly, nice get away but dont have to travel far to enjoy some nature.

Its a great place to view birds and get a good walk in.

The visitor center has several educational areas, bathrooms, and gifts.

When I first moved near Barr Lake I went into the nature center and was sort of disappointed. However I went in again last week and the 10 years in between have changed a lot about this center.The staff were awesome, everything was meticulously clean, and the area set up for bird watching is fantastic (like legitimately in love with it). There is a small gift shop with a nice selection and some maps, there is also a bathroom, and a couple pets, such as a rabbit, chicks, and a toad.I highly recommend this to you if you are stopping at Barr Lake, it can be a 5 minute stop or several hours to watch the birds. Great for all ages because of the animals kids will have a great time as well.

This Is a great place to bring your kids lots of activities for them to do. This is a great place to teach their kids about outdoors. He definitely could spend all day here and still have plenty of things you didnt get to.

The eagle express allows wheelchairs which allowed me to be wheeled out to the viewing area. The staff were amazing, knowledgeable and very helpful. We ended up seeing 43 eagles and some close encounters with a couple of them.

Such a great place to start your exploration of Barr Lake. There is couch to sit on that overlooks a bird feeder and some bushes for those that arent as mobile. A kids section with info on the birds and other animals found in the state park has educational activities as well as outdoor themed toys for younger kids. The volunteer on duty when we visited late in the day on 3/24/19 was incredibly helpful in setting us up with an annual Park pass and was getting help from a park ranger to ensure all customers were served before the center closed. We will definitely be back!

Great place for a long level hike, run, or bike ride. Lots of geese, some eagles, deer, and other wildlife. Many places to picnic or sit and watch nature. The nature center is also a welcome respite after a hike or a great place for kids to get interested in wildlife. Im sure we will come back many times more.

Hadnt been here in 20 years... Saturday midday visit and delightfully few amount of people. Definitely will return with kayaks, picnic and binoculars for birdwatching.

Barr lake has excellently maintained hiking trails and is close enough to Denver for a day trip with the kids. The nature center is perfect for kids and adults. The staff was very polite and parking was affordable. Veterans were able to get free monthly passes.

Love this place! The staff is great. The Bathrooms are always clean. Lots of activities for kids and adults. Best time to visit is in spring when the reservoir is full and the song birds are migrating through.

The volunteers were working hard to sign up kiddos for the day camp this week. But they also helped me out along with the park rangers after a rebar took off my cars frontend when I pulled out of my parking space. Many thanks to the friendliness of all here and for helping me get back on the road. I am particularly grateful for Ranger Brian for all of his help!

Got to pet Turbo the bunny 🐰 😁 so cuteHobo greeted us as we cams in the park, hes so friendly and cute. Watched Toy Story outside, fun but got ate up by skeeters ☺

Great place to walk around, hear the birds and relax

Easy trails for strollers. Nice gift shop/ Nature center. Plenty of picnic tables with coverings and grills. That was our 1st visit there and we will go back. It was a really nice visit.

The wildlife on the lake is incredible.

We needed a few hours to kill before our flight out of Denver and we came across this gem! It is a beautiful Park and a birdwatchers heaven. The highlight of our trip was watching the bald eagle and its nest! Would definitely recommend.
