I have a Specialized mountain bike that I have taken here for the past year for tune ups and other needs. The service has been great and the cost competitive. I highly recommend Right Gear for all of your bicycling needs.

Recently took my bike there for a tuneup. The biggest part of a bicycle tuneup, I would think, would be properly adjusting the derailleur.Didn’t happen. Also, a not very customer focused owner. ☢️. I’m about to call them to find out whether they stand behind their “work”.

Took my son and his bike to Right Gear, as the seat was too low and I was thinking about buying an extender. They adjusted and raised the bike seat, AND adjusted the handlebars to make the bike much more comfortable for my son to ride. GREAT service.

What a bike shop experience! Jim is one of a kind! He knows more about bikes and proper fit, that most anyone in the industry. Go for the expert advise and stay for a great story or two.

I had a great experience here. I am very shocked and saddened to see the negative reviews. My son popped one of his bike tubes. I called over the phone and was told what the price would be and that there was a 2 week turnaround time on repairs. I brought the bike in a week later, the staff were very friendly, they were once again upfront about the cost of the parts and repairs, and stated it would be around 2 weeks before the repairs would be completed. I got a call from the repair man 4 days later, he was very kind and patient, he explained to me that my son had not only popped his tube but the tire as well. He gave me the full price for both repairs and waited for my permission to continue with the repairs, then he informs me the bike will be ready the next day! They didnt even have my sons bike a week. The bike was ready for pick up the next day, the price was as quoted, both men were very kind. They gave me advice on how to properly keep air in my sons tire. I ended up purchasing an air pump and the mechanic took the time to show my son and I how to pump the air in and how much pressure should be put in, he then pushed the bike outside for us. I am very pleased with Right Year and will definitely be back if needed.

Prices are fair. Covid 19 precautions are in place. Bought a brand new bike that needed tuning. Got it back in a few days and its perfect. The world is changing I felt really comfortable at the shop. Will be back to stand in the box.Terry

First time here, very friendly and informative! I went to find clips for reflectors on my dog stroller/jogger wheels. Very helpful, didnt push me to buy new reflectors (I ended up asking him about them). He actually recommended using clear zip ties. Even though new reflectors where only $5 I opted for zip ties. But I would highly recommend Right Gear for any bicycle needs, very helpful, and I will be back.

First time here and wasnt a good experience. I understand the need for Covid precautions but this guy who owned the shop made me and my fiancee feel like prisoners being processed through the system. He wasnt wearing a mask, which is required. We had to stand in a box marked out with blue tape so he can lock the door, then proceeded to talk to use from about 20ft away as if we were going to rob him.It was the most awkward and disturbing interaction Ive ever had with a retail store.. I will never go here again.

This place is great! I just brought my bike in after neglecting it for 4 years and I was prepared to replace the whole groupo and bracing for the possibility of buying a whole new bike. They knew that was my mindset, but Jim and Jesus felt confident they could get it back to good riding shape. I was prepared to spend $1-3k here and they got me riding again for $95. I will be loyal to this place for as long as Im in NC.

I drive all the way from Charlotte just to come to Right Gear because of the honesty and knowledge Jim and his staff display. The reviews on here accusing Jim of ripping people off are ludicrous. Jim has repeatedly talked me out of buying things for my bike he viewed as not being necessary. I would highly recommend Right Gear.

I took my bike in to have a very specific (shifter malfunction) problem repaired. Jim said that stuck shifters were a common problem if bikes were not regularly ridden. He prescribed a spring tune-up for $69.55, and I left the bike. When I went to pick the bike up, the repair cost had climbed to $96.30. I inquired about the increase, and he said that the shifter repair that we had discussed was not included in the repair estimate. What??? I complained, but got only it is what it is attitude, which converted me from being a 20 plus year satisfied customer, to being neither satisfied nor a customer. Small potatoes I know, but there it is.

In the short time I spent at the shop, I learned a lot. Being from Connecticut, I was not in a position to make a significant purchase. Jim spent time with me, teaching me things that will improve my riding experience in the future.

No one knows bikes and bike fit like Jim OBrien at The Right Gear. Bike fit is often dealt with very superficially, yet it is a critical component of buying a bike. At the Right Gear you wont get the biggest selection of bikes, you will get the undivided attention of one of the US best pro mechanics and bike fitters. You will get a bike that fits like a glove, is an absolute pleasure to ride, and which maximizes your comfort and power output.

Jim and the staff at Right Gear are very nice and extremely helpful. Great bikes and great prices are one thing but you need Jims knowledge to finish the buying process for your next bike. The custom fit Jim gave me allows me to ride in the saddle knowing that the bike and myself are one unit. Thanks Jim for the custom fit on the bike and shoes and I sure the BH G6 Pro and I will have some great rides together.

Went in to find a replacement bearing for my kids bike. A gentleman doing repairs in the back assised me in to find the part. Turned out that it was not replaceable, but he helped me with an alternative solution that worked fine. I appreciate that he helped me find a solution instead of just telling me that they didnt have the part. Will visit again in the future.

The best bike shop in the greater Charlotte-Concord area. The owner and employees are extremely knowledgable and we bought excellent bikes that have lasted us years. We moved out of state and recently one of the bikes we had bought was stolen. In calling Right Gear, the owner remembered us from when we purchased it 8 years ago, found the serial number of the bike he had sold us, sent us the original bill of sale, and thanks to him we were able to find/recover our bicycle (showing proof of ownership). They are awesome! We miss you, Right Gear!
