After not even a weeks time after purchasing several boxes of the Aguila Colibri ammunition from Academy, I found that it just would not cycle and fire in the very first magazine; it was failure after failure. Although the box states that it is their 22LR subsonic version, Ive had nothing but success with CCI subsonic so I was confident that it would suffice for range training as well. It was not that day at the range that I noticed how short the bullets were but gave it a shot anyway- I couldnt get through one magazine. Both the range staff and the Academy gun counter staff & store management agreed that they are closest to short rifle and would not work in any semi-auto, and I was directed to contact Aguilla Ammunition to request a resolution on the matter. After contacting Aguila the very next day and the rep (Cody) confirming that the product would not work properly in a semi-auto firearm as it was meant for revolvers and would look into a seeking a resolution, not hearing back from anyone at Aguila for almost a week, I followed up today only to be told that not only could they not offer a refund, nor a simple swap of ammo for 22LR that would actually work in my firearm (esp since they are located locally in my city), but also that there was absolutely no escalation path in the company for me to press the matter further for resolution. (Staff members: Jeannette and Cody) I simply wouldn’t have purchased it had it read anything like 22LR- but best for revolver, not semi-auto- anywhere on the box! Horrible product and customer service to boot. Even in a shortage, I wouldnt support them ever again by purchasing their ammo- even if they were the only thing on the shelf. Thats how I ended up with almost 20 boxes and this headache in the first place. GO WITH CCI!
Great service and product.
