I bought 2 of these to celebrate our 50th anniversary 2 years ago.My husband was unsuccessful in using his BUT I have had a wonderful time with mine and my granddaughter loved using his. I might add that he is very tall and overweight. The first summer I had mine, I used it almost every day on our summer vagabond from California to Canada in various lakes and also waterways .When mine sprang 2 tiny leaks in the folds, I called Dan (owner) . I continued to use it with 2 small rubber pieces stuffed in the folds.Last year, true to their warranty, they sent me 2 replacements that were much thicker and had greatly improved hardware. I have taken mine out several times and will continue to do so. I cant imagine they have even broken even with me because of the replacements. I do admire their integrity and work ethic. Now, at 75 years, Im still having a blast with mine and have figured out how to assemble it very quickly. It fits easily in our car and draws attention whenever we assemble it. So, thanks to the company for standing behind their product and giving me some great memories.

Ordered a Tucktec kayak for my husband, who was currently paddling with an inflatable. VERY happy with the Tucktec. He finds it quite easy to assemble and fold back up. Nice carry strap for getting from the vehicle to the launch point/river bank, and not too heavy at all. Biggest advantage is that it takes so little space to store and he can just throw it in the back of his very small car for travel! He says the kayak handles great. Customer service was excellent throughout our purchase experience.

Love my experiences with Tucktec folding kayaks!! I have owned and used 6 now- still have two!! They are great for their intended purpose!! We used them dozens of times in Utah, Colorado, and South Carolina!! I like the old logo much better Dan!! I own 45 kayaks for all applications and environments and the Tucktecs certainly fill their own niche!!

Wonderfully portable and stowable kayaks that setup and tear down in a flash. Excellent for calm lake or slow-river waters. The stock seat kind of sucks, but thats easy to fix, and word is theres a new stock seat that may be better.

I ordered three kayaks from Tucktec during their early Kickstarter Eco-friendly campaign in April 2020.About the Kickstarter: this was my first kickstarter and I was a little leary going into it. You hear stories about people investing and losing money and never seeing a product. These guys were on the ball from day one and despite all the inconveniences of a global pandemic, they not only got the product to market but did it in a pretty timely fashion. Kudos for that!About the kayaks: I can’t say enough good things about these kayaks and recommend them to everyone. I came into this with two other kayaks that were very heavy and hard to lift and secure on my car. That’s why I invested in the Tucktec kayaks to begin with.I’ve taken them out over 20 times always get stopped with people who are fascinated and have questions for me while I set them up (which only takes about 3 minutes each!) I’m happy to share the info and give them a rave review. They are not only lightweight and portable but handle very well in the water. I’ve never even come close to falling out of one and don’t take on any water at all while paddling. I’ve taken them in lakes, reservoirs, and rivers, even in some tough wind and big swells, and they handled beautifully. They are small and lightweight and so they are somewhat more susceptible to wind, but that hasn’t been an issue. I love that I can fit all three of my kayaks in my backseat, let alone my trunk. They store away in a closet or under a bed just as easily. My only complaint would be the stock seat is not very comfortable for long paddles (over two hours) due to lack of back support. I upgraded to a stadium seat (pictured). Happy to report though that they have listened to our complaints and have already upgraded the seats!About the company: I felt comfortable going into this kickstarter since this company was already established and producing other kayaks. The campaign did nothing but reaffirm my faith in them. They have been very involved in the process of communicating back to their customers through the Facebook page. They listen to all of our input and even make modifications to their systems because of it. One of the chief complaints of the product has been the seats not being the most comfortable, and they have already begun to upgrade it! Their customer service is also amazing!!!

TuckTec is an innovative and genius company. I live in a condo and this was the best solution because of portability and durability.Id trust a TuckTec kayak wayyyy more than an inflatable kayak in the marsh with oysters. It was fast to setup too!PS. Check out the video I made for them for larger folks. The weight capacity surprised me.

My wife and I backed the Kickstarter and waited (semi) patiently until our kayaks arrived in southern Virginia in mid-September 2020. We practiced folding them together a couple of times on our front lawn, and then tossed them in the back seat of the car and drove up to Pocahontas State Park.We love them! It takes us four minutes to fold them together and get them in the water, maybe six minutes to pack them up (since it takes some extra time to towel-dry them pre-folding). They are stable in the water and easy as pie to control. We wouldnt take them over rapids or out into the ocean, but for lake and gentle river paddling we have nothing but praise. Some people complain about the seats. Theyve apparently gone through a couple of improvements since we got ours, so I cant speak to whats being supplied at present. The ones we got were okay, serviceable but not great. Based on recommendations from the large and very friendly and *very* helpful Facebook community, we bought a couple of stadium seats for around $30 apiece on Amazon, and theyre perfect. The supplied paddles are fine, but we have our own higher-end paddles and use those. The cupholders are basically worthless, but thats really our only complaint — and for $3 apiece, who cares? The crew at Tucktec — especially Pete Connell — are fantastic. On a scale of 10, I rate Pete a 17. Responsive, helpful, generous to a fault — and all this during an international and devastating pandemic.Great product, great support, amazing price. This is absolutely value for money!(PS: Given my enthusiasm, you might think I must be Petes brother-in-law. In fact, Ive never met the man. Im just a *very* satisfied customer. Note that the one-star reviews dont knock the product. They were posted by whiners who are apparently unaware that COVID-19 has slowed the entire *world* down.

We had a minor issue with our kayaks. We contacted them and made an appointment to bring them in for an upgrade. Since they had never been in the water, they gave us brand new kayaks rather than make us wait to get the seat buckles fixed. We get a tour of their manufacturing facility and were treated very well! Thank you Tucktec for going above our expectations.

We received our kayaks (purple and bright blue) mid October and got out twice before it was time to pack them away for the winter. My daughters were able to set mine up and paddle in the new pool. They handled nicely and we didnt have any real issues with the seats; they were fine for an afternoons paddle. Cant wait till its kayaking weather again in Buffalo.

Love my Tucktec kayaks! I dont have space to store even 1 regular kayak in my house, but I have space for 5 of these. Can fit them all in the trunk of my minivan too! And they work well. Much faster to set up than an inflatable, and way more durable. Easier to pack in a trunk than dealing with a roof rack. In fact, I can just keep a couple in the van all the time, and just go when I feel like it. These are a real game changer!

Love my Tuckteks! Assembled quickly, takes up hardly any space in the garage or the car, and handles well on calm waters. I am a new kayakers and felt so comfortable in the boat and supported by the community. I will be honest, I find folding the boat back up much trickier, but I usually just toss it loosely rolled into the car and fold it properly once it is dry and warmer.Any time I take my foldy-boat out, someone asks me about it!

I received my kayak in early October, in time to take it out several times before the weather turned. I am very pleased with it. This 65 year old can load, transport, assemble waterside and have a great paddling adventure at a moment’s notice. It has handled very well in the lakes and rivers I’ve explored in it. And I have had many interested spectators whilst folding and unfolding my sleek black vessel. Customer service at Tucktec is above and beyond any other company/product I’ve had experience with.

Purchased a refurb 2020 tan Tucktec through their online store and it was in my possession 2 weeks later! I put it together in my living room after 30 minutes, 15 of those where replaying the instructional video on repeat or rewind! First trip out was on Raystown Lake where its extremely choppy yet Tucky held up great! I did purchase some mods like buoyancy bags and a Coleman stadium seat to go on top of the ridged adjustable seat that I LOVE because it has 3 adjustable positions! The pros superbly outweigh the cons. Pros: dont need roof rails and racks, 28lbs, rated 350lbs, easy set up, customer service rocks, fits in my CRV AND Fit. Cons: side left front buckle unlatches but I think I just need to tighten that bolt thread a turn.I cannot stop talking about this kayak to others especially strangers! Love it so much that I purchased a 2nd one to drag friends and family along!

First, the Tucktec people are just great. I was part of the kickstarter and the challenges they faced over and over and over again to keep their production and shipping lines going were really unbelievable - but they kept going and worked so hard to keep everyone as informed as possible, they were amazing. Now, to the product! This thing is sturdy and well built and exactly what it purports to be - a folding kayak! The colors are stunning and the parts are solid and though weve only used it in our living room :) its clearly well-made and exactly what we were hoping for. Ill try to post again when its finally warm enough for us to get on the water (everyone I know (online) who has gotten theirs in the water has really liked it). Highly recommend.

Ordered 2 kayaks and were completely impressed with them for the price paid. These things change the game of kayaking. We were limited on space with a smaller SUV pulling a teardrop camper. We didn’t like the idea of putting traditional kayaks on the roof rack of the camper. Not only with this of raise the height and reduce our clearance but also created significantly more wind drag. We searched alternatives including inflatable and other folding kayaks before deciding on this purchase. Hands-down I would recommend these to anyone. The customer service is extraordinary and even allowed a local pick up when I was in the area on vacation.

I had the pleasure of bein part of an amazing relay that brought my Tucktec from S.Carolina all the way to NH!! This was in the Fall, so was able to enjoy it a few times prior to the season ending. To say I am excited and happy with my purchase is an understatement!! It started with the relative ease of putting it together, and taking it down to the ease with which I can travel with it. Literally just grabbed it out of my garage and threw it, the paddle, and my life jacket in my SUV and peace out! ✌️🛶 The kayak itself maneuvers wonderfully and feels very stable. People seem to complain about the seats, but I had no issues!! May replace with an aftermarket for the cupholder value alone, but it is fine for now!!The company has been amazing to work on so many levels, and would recommend these kayaks to anyone who just wants to be able to easily get out on the water!!

Awesome kayaks that can be stored anywhere. Well put together and innovative design. Company stands behind their product. Dont let negative reviews make you doubt them. Those are all based on their delivery times after a new product launch during the pandemic. I received my 3 Tucktec kayaks in September. 2 were perfect out of the box, one had a missing grommet. The Tucktec team was very responsive to sending out the missing part and repair kit.We have several kayaks and these are a great addition to our fleet. I love being able to throw them in the back of the car and go, or have a few extras for friends to come along. After a few tries I can put it together in about 4 min, right the same for packing up. They float great. I did end up upgrading to stadium seats. For a foldable option, these are fantastic and a much better price point than the Orus.

I purchased as part of the recycled plastic Kickstarter campaign and I am in love with this product. The design is genius - a compact single sheet of plastic that folds together quickly with 6 clips. All of the components used to store/carry the kayak are used when paddling so theres nothing to misplace. The ease in which this vessel can be used as a single person without much vehicle/storage space is priceless. Im not going to pretend its a hardshell kayak but there are numerous uses for which this product kicks @$$. Everyone that sees me out on the water/at a launch asks about it and wants to know where they can get one for themselves!

I Kickstarted the eco line for Tucktec. There were pandemic delays, but the company did a great job of keeping us informed and doing everything they could to get the product out as fast as possible. They designed three seats as feedback came in, in order to ensure they were putting out the best folding kayak out there.I received my kayaks in the cold season, but still had weather good enough to get out on the water and test drive. This was my first time ever kayaking. The boat was easy to assemble, easy to disassemble, and handled great. I loved the times I was able to get out on the water, and look forward to sharing my kayaks with others when the weather warms back up.

On June 3, 2020, I ordered 2 kayaks from this company with the understanding that there was an estimated 2 to 3 week delay for delivery because of Covid19. A month went by, then 8 weeks, then 12 weeks. I wrote the company on at least 3 different occasions asking for an expected wait time or to at least know where my order was in line. They never even tried to answer these questions. Finally, after 3 months of the worst service and communication ever, I asked for a refund. The reason this makes me so angry and disappointed is 1) this is a product I really, really wanted, and 2) when I checked my original order to get the details to cancel there was a pop-up screen that said shipping was delayed by 4 to 6 weeks, which is a complete lie! I will try to include a picture of the screen shot here. Do NOT order from them! They do not take phone calls nor can they tell you anything about your order. I am VERY disappointed that any business, especially a fairly new one, would use this pandemic that has already wreaked havoc on so many lives as an excuse for sorry business practices and zero customer service! When they sent an email saying they had refunded my money they actually said they hoped I would buy one next year. Are they kidding? They dont give one single iota about their customers. FYI, I would have given zero stars if this platform would allow for it.

Review №37

Let me first say that the owner of this company is great and his customer service is very good. He believes whole heartedly in his product and backs it, but if Im to be honest, I was a little disappointed in the product itself. I think these kayaks are a fantastic idea, but they still seem to be a bit unpolished and unfinished, a work still very much in progress. The seats have changed design a few times from a simple, unwieldly and uncomfortable flat piece of uncovered Styrofoam-like material to a stadium-like chair with a metal base that slips on the plastic and being metal, is likely to corrode in water, especially salt water. (As a side note, Ive come to find that what you see advertised on the website is not necessarily what youll get, especially when it comes to these seats as they keep changing). I have concerns about the amount of metal on this kayak, especially all the clips/latches, and how they will fare after exposure to salt water. The fin is made of such soft plastic that it is easily bent with storage or a bump and if thats not discovered and straightened before you enter the water, you will be stuck veering to one direction your whole paddle. The bumpers on the sides are not much more than pool noodles and will rip and tear easily. The plastic itself is pretty good, though, and seems fairly durable. Although it can scratch, it would take a lot to actually puncture and compromise the hull. I do love the idea that some of these were made with recycled plastic, too. I wish I had waited a little longer before purchasing and until there was a more finished, polished product even if it had cost a bit more. As it is, this kayak will only be used occasionally for people in my family that arent big kayakers and only want to float or fish from it so its probably going to be ok. For anyone considering buying, I would recommend waiting a little longer until they work out more of the kinks and come up with some better alternatives for the seat and all the metal latches. Stay tuned, though, as I believe they will continue to improve and will eventually have a great, little kayak.

We drove our motorhome from Central Florida to Conway, SC to pick our two kayaks up at the factory and got to personally meet Pete Conway and the team during our tour of the facility. We purchased ours mostly to carry with us in the motorhome so we can use them wherever we set up camp but we also use them when we are not out on the road. We have Tuckteced in the Atlantic Ocean, Florida Bay, rivers, mountain lakes, and our swimming pool. We did purchase stadium seats for more support and I am glad to see Tucktec has come out with their own stadium-style seat. We absolutely love our two Tucktecs. We draw a crowd every time we assemble them. I wish we were getting a commission for every one we have sold! I have nothing but praise for Tucktec’s quality of their product and customer support.

I rate Tucktec Folding Kayaks so highly for the simple reason that they deliver exactly what they advertise. They are a durable, recreational kayak, that stores in a compact package. They can be stored or carried in a vehicle trunk, many recreational vehicle storage compartments, and urban living spaces, for hundreds of dollars less than any comparable product. Ive used Tucktecs for years now, across design changes and improvements. Ive used them in the ponds, lakes, rivers and inlets of several southeastern states, the Gulf of Mexico, the Florida Keys, and the Atlantic. Tucktec Folding Kayaks also delivers something not advertised, amazing customer service. Even during the challenges of the COVID pandemic, the product line has adapted to continue to fulfill the orders of both the legacy as well as Kickstarter campaign products. Im looking forward to the new seating design, that is in direct response to customer feedback, that will soon be available to previous owners. Im an avid kayaker, owner of rigid, inflatable, and foldable kayaks of several brands and pricepoints, and run a small kayaking group. We trust and make Tucktecs available as loaners for those without kayaks and many become Tucktec customers. I look forward to future innovations in their design and offer whatever feedback possible, in support.
