The designer is very helpful. She understood clearly what we wanted to do in our garden and pointed at few plants that we really liked. I would like this place to also have more rocks variety and hopefully they decide to sell more pots

Had a great experience with ordering yards of decorative rock. Mary Anne who I ordered the rocks through, was great! So very professional, knowledgeable, caring, sweet and accommodating. A true gem! Then when we got the rocks delivered, it seems like we got their best delivery person they had, Charlie. So experienced and precise in driving large truck and dropping the rocks in a certain spot we needed it dropped in. It was done and kept clean. Very sweet person, too.

Weve been coming to The Garden Dept. for years. Its the best nursery, hands down. You are met with friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable staff. Kelly knows every thing about every plant, tree and bush there is! There hasnt been a visit where we havent gone to seek Kellys advice before making a purchase, designing a bed, or asking her opinion. Its always a pleasure to work with her. The yard is very organized, making it easy to find the product you need and they always have inventory. Very nice staff besides one. As I was checking out I had questions about care for a plant I was holding. Nice employee explain the basics. My daughter (11) also has a question about a plant she picked and was holding. As she asked the nice guy how to care about it another employee Im assuming a manager. Was rude to the nice employee speaking to my daughter and was rushing him with codes for the cashier to enter. No one was online behind me.then had the nerve to say okay so and so telling him the codes 100 questions later. Im a customer and so is my daughter a child or not. Last time Ill go there for that reason only.

This place is amazing. Top soil is very clean and very few pebbles. Also very good soil! Service and delivery have always been prompt and very helpful! Will always buy from them. Not to mention prices are very reasonable and quality of plants is great! About to order some more mulch from them!

Great selection and great staff! Everyone at the Garden Dept is helpful and courteous. Kelly especially has been instrumental in helping me design my deer resistant landscaping. She knows everything about every plant, shrub, and tree on the lot. She has been amazing! The selection they have is huge. From the street, it doesnt look that big, but the property goes way way back. The plants are all healthy and good sized for the price. Everything I buy gets carried for me and loaded into my car by an attentive worker, and the staff is always smiling and happy. Kudos to Vic the owner! I wish I had come in years ago! Ill be back again next week. Lol.

Addendum: The owner of The Garden Depot reached out to me to apologize for this unfortunate event. The situation was rectified and it is apparent that he is is concerned about his customers and their satisfaction. I will give them another try!!One of the worst experiences. Awaited a delivery which never came. When I called they stated that the truck broke down. I never received a call. The following morning I called again to find out the truck was not even back in the yard. I tried to cancel my order, which according to their policy, they do not accept returns. I didn’t even receive the order to return!! Go elsewhere!

I needed shrubs to plant around the patio at our condo. Kellyann was very patient listening to my needs and ideas and helping me pick out the just the right ones. She is just wonderful! All of their stock was beautiful and healthy even this late in the season. I will be back in the spring.

Definitely ask for Kelly! She is very knowledgeable. I told her what I was looking for and she helped it come together nicely. I continue to go back to the Garden Dept. because to me you can’t beat the quality and price. I’ve never had any issues with anything I’ve ever bought there. I’ve bought trees, shrubs and many flowers. Staff is very helpful and honest which I very much appreciate especially when on a budget.

I called to cancel a delivery. I was not given a time frame regarding delivery. Since it was getting later in the afternoon and it was going to rain the next day I wanted to just cancel the order of mulch. Girard the manager refused to give me a refund. I would have been ok with just rescheduling the delivery. He was so rude and unprofessional. I didn’t get the product so why shouldn’t I get a refund? The whole situation was poorly handled.

My experience at the Coram garden depot was spot on and frankly better than I anticipated. Kelly was very attentive and extremely knowledgeable.. she designed my entire project .. first u must go to depo. 2nd u must ask for Kelly .. The whole crew Alex and Manny were simply amazing. I had hoped to include some amazing pictures however it’s doesn’t appear to b an option. Great job by all. Look no further than the depo was all ur design needs.

Garden Depot came highly recommended. Today my husband & I went, I was impressed on the size & Hugh selection of plants, trees & plants.A nice lady approached us & introduced herself as Kelly. We explain our concerns of being highly allergic to bees & we aren’t sure which shrubs to plant that bees CB aren’t attracted to.Kelly was so nice & showed use different options that are safe for us to plant. I showed Kelly a picture of our garden along with the measurements, with that Kelly Told us how shrubs we need & then went out of her way to collect some shrubs in different sizes & put them get her so we could see how it looked & how the colors would look against our bluish grey condo. We will be coming back to buy the shrubs & Kelly will be helping us again in the spring to help pick out plants/ flowers that bees aren’t attracted to.Kelly is very professional, extremely knowledgeable, patent & helpful, Kelly you are the sweetest, thank you so much. Decent place with experienced staff, unfortunately they lie about policies. Ordered 5 yards of pea gravel to be delivered to my house was told deliver would be the next morning between 9 and 10 am... Place closes in 10 mins and there is no delivery yet and the douchebag who answered the phone goes on saying their is no scheduled time delivery when I was told by the staff member who placed the order a time. No clue where his truck is just that it is out with my order. I live 5 mins from the yard... Will not be spending another dime at this 3 ring circus!

I don’t normally post reviews but today was different, I come here all the time for all of my garden and propane needs. Always friendly staff, nice clean environment. On my way out today I was purchasing just a single bag of grass seed, a gentlemen suggested getting some fertilizer on sale, they go hand in hand and will work well. Turned out the guy was the owner of the joint, extremely nice guy, even carried my purchase to my truck. I don’t know, a small good deed like that from the owner struck me as very nice. If you ever were second guessing coming here don’t it’s a great place.

Don when I had a issue and was burned by other nurseries was very professional and cordial. They demonstrated respect and showed great concern for our feelings. He answered questions and reassured the success of a large volume of perennials. His level of courtesy and patience displaced my concerns. I am very pleased with their service and would recommend them without hesitation.

Where do I start? is it the over calculating of gravel thats simple math or the not showing up at the time we discussed, as in after 2:00 p.m. not 1:20 or is it I cant dump the load because of the powerlines, so Ill leave it in the street no thanks I replied, take it back.. and I now have 5 yards of gravel, half in the road on a 35 long driveway.. Thanks Don, last time I use these people.

My husband and I stopped in Garden Dept. so we could compare prices from some of the other nurseries. We are redoing our entire front yard. We were directed to Kelly who was extremely nasty from the moment she laid eyes on us. She was condescending and abrupt when we would ask questions. She walked far ahead of us and would give one word answers or make a snarky comment instead of giving an informative answer. She told us that the trees we were looking for were far off in the distance.and immediately zeroed in on me and commented they wouldnt be turning the sprinklers off for me although I hadnt asked. I actually hadnt said anything at that point. Before she would talk to us about an item we were interested in she would point in the general direction of the plant/tree and tell us how expensive it was. She kept talking about the delivery fees all but asking us if we could afford said item. Needless to say it was a very odd exchange. By the end of our interaction she was all but gushing about her skills with design and landscaping and she could really help us out. I dont know if a switch went off in her head that made her change her attitude or if she was more polite because we were later in ear shot of who I think was the owner. I understand its summer and its hot. It was a very hot day. Everyone is hot and in my estimation l would assume that working in a place called The Garden Dept. would include being outside in the elements no matter how extreme. Needless to say we wont be going back. Id rather spend my money with people who actually want to earn my business.

The Garden Depot has an awesome team. My school just had our PTA Mothers Day Plant Sale. With needing a new vendor, we reached out to the Garden Depot to see if they can help. Alex in sales was very responsive and answered all my questions and hand picked out the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen. Thank you to the Garden Depot for helping us and making our plant sale extremely successful.

Garden Depot is the go to place for perennials. I had just been there to purchase mums for my garden. They were beautiful and the price was right. Also, Kelly was very helpful. I can see she is very motivated.

Last week I got 3 yards of black mulch delivered for $160, when I bought it the guy at the register said it was a good deal. Yesterday In the mail I got an advertisement for garden depot and it says 5 yards of black mulch for $159.99 delivered. So today I went back to ask what was up and the guy told me, thats the way it goes. Safe to say this is the last time I buy anything from them again. Also, to top it all off I was told to put the stuff I was buying in the car and come back and pay, and while Im loading the stuff in my car one of the workers comes out and accuses me of stealing. I am done with this place! The prices are very expensive and they make you feel like a criminal. P.S: The boss looks like John Tafer from bar rescue.

Place is fantastic. Very knowledgeable and helpful with my planting projects. Would highly recommend to anybody. One of the few places that remain where everybody greets you with a hello and a smile. Keep up the great work!

I had a great experience here. Kelly was very knowledgeable and not pushy at all. She was very respectful of our budget and did not try to upsell us. The prices were fair compared to two other nurseries we looked at and got significantly more help here than anywhere else.

Alot to chose from But Pricey

So disappointed in my mulch delivery that I received yesterday (Friday 5/15). It was the 1st time I used this shop because they were the only ones that had red mulch. I ordered 3 yds (as I normally do every year from another local garden shop) so I do know how much it covers. It looked short when we received it but I gave the benefit of the doubt (1st mistake). I called the store today and spoke with Gerard who I origInally placed the order with and told him the problem. He said they have no more red mulch now so my guess is they gave me what was left which was 2 yds at best. Gerard told me they were busy right now but he would give the message to the manager (11:30am). I never received a call back today..how disappointing. I was hoping this place could be my new “go to” however, the customer service has completely turned me off. I will try calling again on Monday. Hopefully they make good of the situation so I can give them another chance. Very Disappointed!

It was a pleasure dealing with Hector the manager and all the staff at the Garden Dept. Very professional and helpful, excellent customer service! The grounds are well kept and organized and the plants are hardy! I needed some privacy hedges and found exactly what I wanted and needed. The trees are beautiful! On a budget and probably considered a smaller job but I was still treated like a VIP! Highly recommend using Hector and purchasing from the Garden Dept!

My husband and I were very happy with the salesperson Kelly Ann. She was so knowledgable about all the plants and where we should put them on our property. I buy mulch each year from the Garden Dept at a very reasonable price, and free delivery. I called at 4pm to see if I could get a delivery the next day, and I did! Thanks very much to Elizabeth who was more than helpful and courteous, she even arranged the delivery without me having to be home! Great service. I also have been buying my Xmas tree there for the last 5 years, best trees I ever had! Very friendly and courteous even in the freezing winter trying to help me and my 3 kids agree on a tree....I highly recommend them.

Great experience with Kenny and the whole place. Everyone was so nice and spent several hours with us going through a really large landscape design for our backyard! So happy with the whole experience and the quality of plants! Have used this place many times and will continue to use them for all our projects!

I worked with a Alex over the phone to order bulk mulch and top soil. He was professional and knowledgeable. I had my material delivered but Steve. I texted him a photo of the dump location. He called me an hour in advance and confirmed the drop point when he arrived at the house. What a professional! I will use the Garden Dept for all my bulk needs. Thank you!

Stopped by to pick up a few things for the yard at Garden Depot and was overwhelmed by the service, selection and quality. I have traditionally used a few nurseries on the North Shore but Garden Depot was worth the trip. Kenny helped with my initial order and while it was being hand delivered to my SUV, I chatted with Val about the beautiful Mandevillas last year. She took we to the greenhouse and showed me a few...I just had to get a few more plants. ;-). Strongly recommend this establishment for all your patio and landscape needs.

I am a repeat customer as I take pride in my summer garden. I shopped here yesterday and once again I had a great experience. The Garden Depot carries a very large variety of flowers and vegetables that are organic and locally sourced. This is important to support our local farmers and LI businesses. You might expect to pay more for organic, locally sourced products but the prices are equal to the big box stores.In addition I was unable to locate something and a knowledgeable employee was easy to locate and eager to help. He actually walked me over to show me where the product was located. They even helped me get my purchases into the car. This level of knowledge and service is nearly non- existant at the large chain stores.I will return again.

I usually dont write reviews but I stopped in the garden dept on my way out east. I was surprised to find out,they had everything I needed. I spoke to Don the owner he showed me where everything was and set me up with hector who knows everything about all the trees. Don and Hector really helped us out. I would say this is by far the most professionally run business Ive been to in a long time. Its a breathe of fresh air to see a company where each employee seems to have great knowledge of the products they sell, and have what I would say is pristine customer service. Everywhere I turned was a employee to say hello to me, and ask if I need help with anything. I setup a delivery of mulch, and trees which was on time and the driver was a pleasure. I was very surprised to also see there pricing was better than Home Depot, and quality is not even comparable of the trees I bought. I received a follow up call a couple hours after my delivery to make sure everything went ok. My only negative is the place is very large and its a lot of walking. I do understand that such place with extensive inventory would need the large amount of acreage it has. I will surely be back next year to finish my landscape. I highly recommend!!

When it comes to garden supplies, Plants and so much more, Garden Depot is our favorite place to go. from Christmas Trees for the entire family to plan topsoil - the people from Garden Depot are knowledgeable and very friendly - from sales people to truck driver - all highly professional and caring. This place is great! I walked in with some photos on my ipad of areas that need planting, and Kelly Ann (certified landscape designer) walked me around the place. She asked about sunlight. drainage, etc, then showed me plants that would suit my needs. Because I basically didnt have a clue going in. This nursery has many varieties of every plant. Huge selection! They had about 10 or more types of hostas- and huge ones for 12.99. Anyway, instead of arbor vitae, I got laurel as a privacy screen. And a bunch of other plants that you dont see at smaller nurseries. So I ended up buying $1400 worth of plants yesterday, and they delivered them today. The driver was so nice. He backed the truck down my driveway with, like, 6 inches to spare on either side, instead of curbside (which is all hes required to do) All in all, 5 stars to this place.

The mulch delivery was the cheapest option and it was very worth it.. My husband liked the mulch a lot. We look forward going to the store to see what they have. People were very nice on the phone as well.

When it comes to plant material it is hard to beat the garden dept ! fast friendly knowledgeable service. We are a smaller company and it seems everyone at BOTH locations knows us by name. Every load of plants we pick up seem to thrive without skipping a beat, this is important to us because we guarantee our plantings to our customers for 2 years. keep it up

Bought 10 Arborvitaes from here on sale. Immediately I knew one was sick and looked very unhealthy. I was told by a manager at Garden Dept that it (QUOTE) is fine ... I soon learned there were bagworms in the tree and they refused to take responsibility for it. They claimed it was my watering and ironically I have 100 other arborvitaes that are doing great and are vibrantly green. Those were purchased from Bay Gardens and Wading River Nursery where I would suggest shopping. You can what you pay for at Garden Dept in Coram and I will never be back there.

Decent staff and product

FRAUD, THIEVES AND SCAM. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING.ON 4/2, went to this location and made a deposit on a job for about 21 trees.The total for the trees came out to $3377.66, I deposited $500.Then the guy call me and said delivery and installation was $2500, the he went down to $1600, then he came down to $1300.During the course of 2 weeks, I decided that it was going to be too much the total cost and decided to go a different route.Today 4/16, I called to cancel and get a refund of the deposit. The manager told me that he cant refund because he had to pull the trees and he was calling me about the delivery charges. (which we were discussing and they have an almost an acre garden lot). what a joke.Told him that I was disputing the charge with my credit card and letting everyone know their business practice.Shady...Shady...Shady.

They won’t discuss pricing over the phone. For anyone who lives even a moderate distance away this is a big deal. I haven’t come across another nursery that has this policy.

Got topsoil delivered to grow a new lawnThe soil was infested with the weed poison Hemlock. Anywhere I put this soil around the house grew this weedI even gave my neighbor some of the pile of soil and now they are infested with this weed its everywhere!!My new lawn looks like a garden patch of parsley not grass!

Spent a lot of money here for a plant that has a fungal infection (canna rust). I wouldn’t have invested in a big house plant and pricey pot from here if I knew it was going to die in less than two weeks. Unfair and upset
